javascript-----what's conflict of my javascript - javascript

The site is hostingcouponsclub.com. I want to add a text tip "Click to copy & open site" effect to the yellow coupon code, which is near the scissors. But the tooltip is not working when I put this code to my local environment. It's ok. I think maybe there is a conflict with the "Click to copy & open site" JavaScript. How do I correct it? Thank you. This is the tooltip code:
$(document).ready(function() {
$(".coupon-code").hover(
function() { $(this).contents(".coupontooltip").show(); },
function() { $(this).contents("span:last-child").css({ display: "none" }); }
);
});

Your HTML Markup in the site is,
<div rel="http://www.godaddy.com/" class="coupon-code hover">
BNX5246Lmg
<span class="coupontooltip" style="display: none;">Click to copy & open site</span>
</div>
<div rel="http://www.godaddy.com/" class="coupon-code hover">
BNX5246Lmg2
<span class="coupontooltip" style="display: none;">Click to copy & open site2</span>
</div>
Made these changes.
Took away display: none; from the coupontooltip css class
Change toolTipHover.js like this:
$(document).ready(function () {
$(".coupon-code").hover(
function () { $(this).find(".coupontooltip").show(); },
function () { $(this).find(".coupontooltip").hide(); }
);
});
Click here to see it working

.contents() doesn't work like that at all. Are you looking for $(".coupontooltip", this) and $("span:last-child", this) ?

Try using:
function() { $(this).find('.coupontooltip').show(); },
function() { $(this).find('span:last-child').css("display", "none"); }
as the arguments to the hover bind.

Try using
$(document).ready(function() {
$(".coupon-code").hover(
function() { $(this).children(".coupontooltip").show(); },
function() { $(this).children("span:last-child").css({ display: "none" }); }
);
});
The contents() and children() are same except that the former will get the text and comments nodes as well.

Change TinyMCE HTML after the plugin is enabled

I can change the HTML displayed in TinyMCE by clicking "restore". I now wish to return the HTML to the orignal HTML by clicking "cancel". For the life of me, I cannot figure out why my approach doesn't work (it displays the newly modified HTML). How is this accomplished. Please see http://jsfiddle.net/3pn3x4zj/ which is duplicated below. Thank you.
JavaScript
tinymce.init({
selector: '#tinymce',
setup: function (ed) {
ed.on('init', function (e) {
e.target.hide();
});
}
});
$(function () {
$('#cancel').hide();
$('#restore').click(function () {
console.log('Save old HTML and put new HTML from GET request in DIV');
$('#cancel').show();
$('#restore').hide();
$(this).parent().data('oldHTML', $('#tinymce').html());
var newHTMLgottenFromGetRequest = '<p>Bar Bar Bar</p>'
$('#tinymce').html(newHTMLgottenFromGetRequest);
tinymce.get('tinymce').show();
});
$('#cancel').click(function () {
console.log('Put back original HTML');
$('#cancel').hide();
$('#restore').show();
$('#tinymce').html($(this).parent().data('oldHTML'));
tinymce.get('tinymce').hide();
});
});
HTML
<div id="tinymce">
<p>Foo Foo Foo</p>
</div>
<button id="restore">restore</button>
<button id="cancel">cancel</button>
Try reversing these lines in the #cancel click event:
$('#tinymce').html($(this).parent().data('oldHTML'));
tinymce.get('tinymce').hide();
becomes
tinymce.get('tinymce').hide();
$('#tinymce').html($(this).parent().data('oldHTML'));

jQuery Simple text change on image hover

I'm trying to create a script for changing text on image hover. This is the HTML in simple version:
<section id="#first">
<div class="img-1"></div>
<div class="img-2"></div>
</section>
<section id="#second">
<div class="text-1"></div>
<div class="text-2"></div>
</section>
Javascript
jQuery(document).ready(function($){
$('.img-1').hover(
function(){ $('.text-1').addClass('text-1-active') },
function(){ $('.img-1').addClass('img-1-active') },
function(){ $('.text-2').removeClass('text-2-active') },
function(){ $('.img-2').removeClass('img-2-active') }
)
$('.img-2').hover(
function(){ $('.text-2').addClass('text-2-active') },
function(){ $('.img-2').addClass('img-2-active') },
function(){ $('.img-1').removeClass('img-1-active') },
function(){ $('.text-1').removeClass('text-1-active') }
)
});
Can't change the HTML structure. The classes do get added but don't get removed.
FIDDLE
:) actually this is all you need: DEMO
$("#first [class^=img-]").hover(function() {
$('#second .text-'+ this.className.replace(/\D/g,'')).toggle();
});
If you want to toggle classes? Nothing simpler: DEMO
$("#first [class^=img-]").hover(function() {
$(this).toggleClass("wow");
$('#second .text-'+ this.className.replace(/\D/g,'')).toggleClass("wow");
});
To explain the above, you just need to find out the number of the hovered element and reference-by number the needed .text-N element.
Also this <section id="#first">, that #first is not the way to set an ID to an HTML element.
Use simply <section id="first">
You are attempting to pass four separate callback functions, rather than a single callback that executes all the necessary code.
Here is what you want:
jQuery(document).ready(function($){
$('.img-1').hover(
function(){
$('.text-1').addClass('text-1-active');
$('.img-1').addClass('img-1-active');
$('.text-2').removeClass('text-2-active');
$('.img-2').removeClass('img-2-active');
}
)
$('.img-2').hover(
function(){
$('.text-2').addClass('text-2-active');
$('.img-2').addClass('img-2-active');
$('.img-1').removeClass('img-1-active');
$('.text-1').removeClass('text-1-active');
}
)
});
http://jsfiddle.net/w4mLtec8/5/
first, you use the .hover function wrongly, it should only accept 2 arguments which is for mouseenter and mouseleave. You should be using it like this
$("selector").hover(
function(){
// mouseenter function
},
function(){
// mouseleave function
}
});
and second you don't need to use too long class name to to decide it's active or not, hence you can use it to diferentiate it like this text-1 active and text-2 active, so you can write it like this in jQuery
jQuery(document).ready(function($){
$('.img-1').hover(
function(){ $('.text-1').addClass('active') },
function(){ $('.text-1, .text-2').removeClass('active') }
)
$('.img-2').hover(
function(){ $('.text-2').addClass('active') },
function(){ $('.text-1, .text-2').removeClass('active') }
)
});
and CSS
.text-1,
.text-2{
display:none;
}
.text-1.active,
.text-2.active{
display:block;
}
here's the Updated Fiddle with the optimized way to use it.
I'm making an assumption of what you're looking for...but try this jQuery code:
jQuery(document).ready(function ($) {
$('.img-1').mouseover(function () {
$('.text-1').addClass('text-1-active');
$('.img-1').addClass('img-1-active')
}).mouseout(function () {
$('.text-1').removeClass('text-1-active');
$('.img-1').removeClass('img-1-active');
});
$('.img-2').mouseover(function () {
$('.text-2').addClass('text-2-active');
$('.img-2').addClass('img-2-active')
}).mouseout(function () {
$('.text-2').removeClass('text-2-active');
$('.img-2').removeClass('img-2-active');
});
});
You are handing the hover event a list of functions. Just send it one that does eveything.
I.E.
jQuery(document).ready(function($) {
$('.img-1').hover(
function() {
$('.text-1').addClass('text-1-active');
$('.img-1').addClass('img-1-active');
$('.text-2').removeClass('text-2-active');
$('.img-2').removeClass('img-2-active');
}
);
$('.img-2').hover(
function() {
$('.text-2').addClass('text-2-active');
$('.img-2').addClass('img-2-active');
$('.img-1').removeClass('img-1-active');
$('.text-1').removeClass('text-1-active');
}
);
});
Try this
jQuery(document).ready(function($){
$('.img-1').hover(function(){
$('.text-1').toggleClass('text-1-active');
$('.img-1').toggleClass('img-1-active');
$('.text-2').toggleClass('text-2-active');
$('.img-2').toggleClass('img-2-active');
});
$('.img-2').hover(function(){
$('.text-2').toggleClass('text-2-active');
$('.img-2').toggleClass('img-2-active');
$('.img-1').toggleClass('img-1-active');
$('.text-1').toggleClass('text-1-active');
});
});
jQuery(document).ready(function($){
$('.img-1').hover(
function(){
$('.text-1').toggleClass('text-1-active');
$('.img-1').toggleClass('img-1-active');
}
)
$('.img-2').hover(
function(){
$('.text-2').toggleClass('text-2-active');
$('.img-2').toggleClass('img-2-active');
}
)
});

If I understand what's to be done, the approach itself used to solve the problem could be better. Basically, use CSS to your advantage. Here, I've reduced the number of times we call JQuery by taking a little time to set up the HTML and CSS.
Tag the corresponding text div with a number
Put the same number in a data attribute so the item to hover knows which text it's associated with
I believe the intent is to have one text hover active at a time, so we can simple remove all 'active'. Naturally, we'd one to restrict the selector here to only pull text hovers, but you get the idea.
//Javascript Code
$('.img').hover( function() {
var name = $(this).attr('data-name');
$('.text').removeClass('active');
$('.text[data-name="'+name+'"]').addClass('active');
});
http://jsfiddle.net/LkL9uo0k/1/
As far as I understand, you don't need classes to show and hide the text, use .show() and .hide() to take care of it, in the original js you're passing 4 functions to the hover event whereas only 2 are needed, one executes when the element is hovered and the second one when mouse exits the element causing hover event to stop.
Here's the modified js, take a look at the fiddle too -
jQuery(document).ready(function($){
$('.img-1').hover(
function(){
$('.text-1').show();
$('.text-2').hide();
},
function(){
$('.text-1, .text-2').hide();
}
);
$('.img-2').hover(
function(){
$('.text-2').show();
$('.text-1').hide();
},
function(){
$('.text-1, .text-2').hide();
}
);
});
FIDDLE
I'm basically hiding both texts on exit, if you want one text block to always stay visible you can hide the other one in hover 'exit' function. Here's the fiddle for that -

If jQuery has Class do this action

I am trying to check whether or not a particular element has been clicked but am having trouble doing so. Here is my HTML:
<div id="my_special_id" class="switch switch-small has-switch" data-on="success" data-off="danger">
<div class="switch-on switch-animate"><input type="checkbox" checked="" class="toggle">
<span class="switch-left switch-small switch-success">ON</span>
<label class="switch-small"> </label>
<span class="switch-right switch-small switch-danger">OFF</span>
</div>
</div>
Here is my jQuery:
<script type="text/javascript">
$(document).ready(function() {
$('#my_special_id').click(function() {
if ($('#my_special_id div:first-child').hasClass('switch-on')) {
window.alert('ON!');
}
});
});
</script>
I am guessing that my id "my_special_id" is not what is actually being clicked?
I guess click event should have event parameter.
$(document).ready(function() {
$('#my_special_id').click(function(e) {
if (e.target check condition) {
window.alert('ON!');
}
});
});
parameter 'e' above specified is the event object that has all info about click event.
so if u check all info under 'e.tartget', u will be able to find out which one is clicked.
Hope it's helpful for you.
Cheers :)
Since you are looking for a alert when the checkbox is clicked
$(document).ready(function() {
$('#my_special_id input.toggle').click(function() {
if ($('#my_special_id div:first-child').hasClass('switch-on')) {
window.alert('ON!');
}
});
});
Demo: Fiddle
Simply put alert when you click on that particular class switch-on
<script type="text/javascript">
$(document).ready(function() {
$('#my_special_id div:first-child .switch-on').on('click',function() {
window.alert('ON!');
});
});
</script>
Or even try like
$(document).ready(function() {
$('#my_special_id').click(function() {
if ($(this + 'div:first-child').hasClass('switch-on')) {
window.alert('ON!');
}
});
});
This JavaScript works for me.
$(document).ready(function() {
$('#my_special_id').click(function() {
if ($('#my_special_id div:first-child').hasClass('switch-on')) {
alert("On!");
}
});
});
You are sure you have JQuery?
Your code looks fine I think either you have a syntax error somewhere else or you do not have JQuert.
does this alert?
$(document).ready(function() {
alert("Jquery works");
});
The click event will trigger to whatever you're bound do. the only time you'd have to be worried is if you bound to both a parent and child (e.g. you had listed #my_special_id,.switch-small--then you'd have to look at e.target).
With that said, you can use scope to limit how jQuery finds the div:first-child. I'm not 100% sure what you're after, but the below appears to do what you're after:
$(document).ready(function() {
$('#my_special_id').click(function() {
// look for div:first-child within `this` (where `this=#my_special_id`
// per the .click selector above)
if ($('div:first-child',this).hasClass('switch-on')) {
window.alert('ON!');
}
});
});
If you're looking to bind to the on/off separately, you may want to change it around a bit. we can still check for .switch-on, just have to traverse differently:
// here we bind to the on/off buttons and not the container
$('#my_special_id .switch-small').click(function(){
// you want the facsimilee of `div:first-child`, so (because we're now
// within that node, we use .parent() to get back up to it
var $firstChild = $(this).parent();
if ($parent.hasClass('switch-on')){
alert('ON!');
}
});

After toggling div with Jquery make it stay visible

I have this jquery code:
http://jsfiddle.net/y8wPw/60/
All I want is that after DIV with content opens, it must stay visible, so that I can go over it and use this div as a form( or some other purpose). But now, if I make a MOUSEOUT from Content div , it disappears.
Jquery code:
$(document).ready(function() {
$(".body").hover(function () {
$(".desc").toggle();
})
})
$(document).ready(function() {
$(".body").hover(function () {
$(".desc").show();
})
})
Why not try:
$(document).ready(function() {
$(".body").hover(function () {
$(".desc").show();
})
})
I have edited your js fiddle code by adding a wrapper and assigning the event to it.
I guess that fixes you problem :)
updated the html to
<div id="wrap">
<div class="body">Hellp</div>
<div class="desc">Any content here!</div>
</div>
<div class="clear"></div>
updated the css
#wrap{overflow:hidden}
updated the js
$(document).ready(function() {
$("#wrap").hover(function () {
$(".desc").toggle();
})
})
The link http://jsfiddle.net/RUtgE/1/
Use .css('display', 'block') instead of .toggle()
JSFiddle
You can use mouseenter instead of hover. In this case it will show the first time you go over the "help" button, the next time it will close again.
Check out http://api.jquery.com/category/events/mouse-events/ for more mouse events to play with!
$(document).ready(function() {
$(".body").hover(function () {
$(".desc").show();
})
$(".close").click(function () {
$(".desc").hide();
})
$(".wrap").mouseleave(function () {
$(".desc").hide();
})
})

This is what i was looking for! With some of your help i managed to make it!
Thanks to all!

Jquery anchor tag display problem

I am unable to show an anchor tag to display itself using .show() in Jquery or javascript. Conn Window is visible by default. It hides and displays the div but it is unable to do the same with anchor. I have manually tried to change it in firebug/IE dev tools and it works there. It just doesn't work when I do it with jquery/javascript.
Here is the HTML code:
<div id="connWindow">Conn Window
<div id="closeButton" onclick="javascript:connHide();"></div>
</div>
Here is the jquery code:
function connHide()
{
$('#connTab').show();
$('#connWindow').hide();
}
function connShow()
{
$('#connWindow').show();
$('#connTab').hide();
}
Any help will be greatly appreciated!
Why not bind your click events in jQuery as well
function connHide()
{
$('#connTab').show();
$('#connWindow').hide();
}
function connShow()
{
$('#connWindow').show();
$('#connTab').hide();
}
$(document).ready(function () {
$("#contab").click(function () {
connShow();
return false;
});
$("#connWindow").click(function() {
connHide();
});
});
The inline CSS display:none is overriding the mechanism jQuery uses to show and hide.
Hide the anchor programmatically instead:
HTML:
<div id="connWindow">
Conn Window
<div id="closeButton"></div>
</div>
Script:
$(function() { // on document load
$('#connTab').css('display', 'none');
// I'm going to replace your inline JS with event handlers here:
$('#connTab').click(function() { connShow(); return false; });
$('#closeButton').click(function() { connHide(); });
});
function connHide() {
$('#connTab').css('display', '');
$('#connWindow').css('display', 'none');
}
function connShow() {
$('#connWindow').css('display', '');
$('#connTab').css('display', 'none');
}
Hope that helps.
You don't need to state javascript: for onclick events. Try changing to:
<div id="closeButton" onclick="connHide();"></div>
I would also change the first line to the following:
