Html:
<section id="secProducts" class="container">
<div id="CART_TEMPLATE" style="display:none">
<figure>
<img src="images/1.jpg" alt="img02" class="img-responsive" height="80" width="80" />

<p class="productname"></p>
<label for="quant">Enter Quantity:</label>
<input type="number" id="quant" name="quant[]" min="1" >
</figcaption>
</figure>
/* Try to get Value of input from name="quant[]" .But Unable to get document.getElementsByName("quant[0]").value; ? */
</div>
</section>
JavaScript:
function socialSharing()
{
alert("Hi:");
var fun1=document.getElementsByName("quant[0]").value;
alert(fun1);
var fun2=document.getElementsByName("quant[1]").value;
alert(fun2);
alert(bar2);
}
In Html, there is an array of Product Details. It displays all products. But I'm trying to get quantity details with var fun1=document.getElementsByName("quant[0]").value; which returns undefined.
You can access the value of the input elements using the following code:
var fun1 = document.getElementsByName("quant[0]")[0].value;
var fun2 = document.getElementsByName("quant[1]")[0].value;
Here is a small reproduction for the problem: Codepen Demo
The main point as described in other answers, is that getElementsByName() can return multiple elements, compared to getElementById()
// instead of this
var fun1 = document.getElementsByName("quant[0]").value;
// get the first element of the returned result and get this value
var fun1 = document.getElementsByName("quant[0]")[0].value;
function socialSharing()
{
var fun1=document.getElementsByName("quant[0]")[0].value;
document.getElementById("results").innerHTML += "Detected quantity " + fun1 + "<br>";
}

In order to show that the code above works, I have added a new div, where each key press handled by the onkeyup event of the input field, will write down the current value of the input field

I've been struggling to understand how to overcome this problem. I've been tasked to retrieve user input, and on keystroke see if user input matches any amount of .tags If not, hide the .thumb-display.
So far, I've been able to gather that I'll need to add/remove the classlist "hidden" as well use the event handler "input", however I don't quite understand how to use event handler "input" in this context as well as change event.
This is for homework so I'd much rather have an explanation for an answer, rather than just an answer so I can understand what I currently can't. Even a hint could be vital and set me on the right track! Rules are: no changing HTML and must use JavaScript.
Here is the HTML:

<div class="frm-group">
<a class="reset hidden" href="#">Reset</a>

You need to listen on input keyup event and retrieve value from input then check if that value matches any tags and show/hide `parentNode
document.addEventListener('DOMContentLoaded', () => {
const inputEl = document.getElementById('filter');
const tags = Array.from(document.querySelectorAll('.tags'));
inputEl.addEventListener('keyup', () => {
const value = inputEl.value;
tags.forEach(tag => {
if (tag.textContent.includes(value)) {
tag.parentNode.style.display = 'block'
} else {
tag.parentNode.style.display = 'none'
}
})
})
})

You need to get user input. So you need to listen for an event. Add Event Listener to the rescue. Which event, though? How about "change".
Ok, so you can get what they typed, good. Now you need to compare it to the tags. So it's time to find all of those. You can get all of the ".tags" with a querySelector. That will get you a list of nodes that you can loop through to collect the innerText. You can check if the innerText includes the input that the user typed. If it doesn't, then you find the closest ".thumb-display" and set a style attribute to hide it. If the input IS in the innerText, then you need to remove any style attribute that is hiding the closest parent.
Boom, done. Maybe, I didn't try it an I almost never get it right the first time. But it would be something along those lines.
I spent lots of time trying to figure out getting a values from an element using jquery. Here's the code
<div class="school">
<div class="school-prev">
<img src="images/photos.png" class="img-responsive" alt="" />
</div>
<h5 class="school-title">Admin</h5>
<small class="text-muted">School Board</small>
</div>
<div class="school">
<div class="school-prev">
<img src="images/photos2.png" class="img-responsive" alt="" />
</div>
<h5 class="school-title">Finance</h5>
<small class="text-muted">School Board</small>
</div>
Jquery Coe
$(document).ready(function(){
$(".school").click('.school-title', function(e){
var showValue=$(this).text();
alert(showValue);
});
});
Example of return values: Admin School Board;
Expected value is should be "Admin or Finance"
NB: Any solution should consider outside div(school) clickable and not school-title div alone.
Warm regards.
Try the following jQuery code:
$(document).ready(function(){
// console.log('th');
$(document).on('click','.school .school-title', function(e){
e.preventDefault()
var th = $(this); //change over here
console.log(th.text());
});
});
You can change $(".school").click('.school-title', function(e){ to $(".school").on('click', '.school-title', function(e) { and it will solve the problem for you.
After updating your NB, you can use:
$(document).ready(function() {
$(".school").click(function(e) {
var showValue = $('.school-title',this).text()
alert(showValue);
});
});
Demo
$(document).ready(function() {
$(".school").click(function(e) {
var showValue = $('.school-title',this).text()
alert(showValue);
});
});
<script src="https://cdnjs.cloudflare.com/ajax/libs/jquery/3.3.1/jquery.min.js"></script>
<div class="school">
<div class="school-prev">
<img src="images/photos.png" class="img-responsive" alt="" />
</div>
<h5 class="school-title">Admin</h5>
<small class="text-muted">School Board</small>
</div>
<div class="school">
<div class="school-prev">
<img src="images/photos2.png" class="img-responsive" alt="" />
</div>
<h5 class="school-title">Finance</h5>
<small class="text-muted">School Board</small>
</div>
You want a click anywhere in the school div to get the title - not just on the title itself. To do that, you just need to check for the school-title child element in the click function on school.
This will get all children with the class school-title (of which there will only be one - it works the same as find except on direct children only) and get the text from it:
$(document).ready(function(){
$(".school").click('.school-title', function(e){
var showValue=$(this).children('.school-title').text();
alert(showValue);
});
});
/* Just for illustration to make it easier to see what is happening */
.school { border: 1px solid #ccc;}
<script src="https://cdnjs.cloudflare.com/ajax/libs/jquery/3.3.1/jquery.min.js"></script>
<div class="school">
<div class="school-prev">
<img src="images/photos.png" class="img-responsive" alt="" />
</div>
<h5 class="school-title">Admin</h5>
<small class="text-muted">School Board</small>
</div>
<div class="school">
<div class="school-prev">
<img src="images/photos2.png" class="img-responsive" alt="" />
</div>
<h5 class="school-title">Finance</h5>
<small class="text-muted">School Board</small>
</div>
You only have one child with school-title in this case, but it will work with multiple titles if needed (e.g. if you did want to get "Admin School Board" for example, you could simply add the school-title class to the text-muted element).
Reference: jQuery children documentation
You are using 'school' class name for the click event and want to get the value child element of div. That is not possible in this way.
Simply Change the code "$(this).text();" to "$(classname,this).text();".
Happy coding.
I want to get the text on click with a certain class but nothing works. I have a div with 2 p tags and I want to get both separate. Also, I want to append them. .append() appends but just keeps adding all targeted events. empty().append() gives me random results (on first click it works, on second I get half of the text etc). Ive tried most of what I could find on stack overflow but nothing helped. Any help would be great!
Ive tried:
$(event.target).text(); //that gives me the text, but not both p elements separate
$(this).hasClass('.video-title'); //only returns to me true/false
var title= document.getElementsByClassName("video-title")[0].innerHTML; //doesn't give me the current element.
$('p.video-title').innerHTML; //doesnt help either
HTML
<div class="video-container">
<iframe id="vid_frame" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/xxx?rel=0&showinfo=0&autohide=1" width="900" height="450"></iframe>
<div id="video-info"></div>
</div>
<div class="col-sm-4 video-col">
<div class="video-wrapper" onClick="attachSrc('yyy', event)">
<img src="assets/images/thumbnail/yourHeart_official.jpg" width="260" height="160">
<div class="overlay">
<p class="video-title">title 1</p>
<p class="video-author">author 1</p>
</div>
</div>
</div>
<div class="col-sm-4 video-col">
<div class="video-wrapper" onClick="attachSrc('xxx', event)">
<img src="assets/images/thumbnail/yourHeart_karaoke.jpg" width="260" height="160">
<div class="overlay">
<p class="video-title">title 2</p>
<p class="video-author">author 2</p>
</div>
</div>
</div>
<script>
function attachSrc(id, event) {
var text = $(event.target).text();
$('#video-info').append(text);
}
</script>
As you are using jQuery, I would recommend you to use unobtrusive event handler and use .on() to attach event handlers.
Here in example I have attached event with wrapper element and DOM traversal method to traverse and target desired element.
And to persists arbitrary data use data-* prefixed custom attribute which can be fetched using .data(key)
<div class="video-wrapper" data-id="yyy">
Script
$('.video-col').on('click', '.video-wrapper', function() {
var elem = $('#video-info').empty();
var title = $(this).find('.video-title').text();
elem.append(title);
console.log(title);
var author= $(this).find('.video-author').text();
elem.append(author);
console.log(author);
console.log($(this).data('id'));// To fetch custom data associated with element
});
$(function() {
$('.video-col').on('click', '.video-wrapper', function() {
console.clear();
var elem = $('#video-info').empty();
var title = $(this).find('.video-title').text();
elem.append(title);
console.log(title);
var author = $(this).find('.video-author').text();
elem.append(author);
console.log(author);
console.log($(this).data('id')); // To fetch custom data associated with element
});
});
<script src="https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/2.1.1/jquery.min.js"></script>
<div class="video-container">
<div id="video-info"></div>
</div>
<div class="col-sm-4 video-col">
<div class="video-wrapper" data-id="yyy">
<img src="assets/images/thumbnail/yourHeart_official.jpg" width="260" height="160">
<div class="overlay">
<p class="video-title">title 1</p>
<p class="video-author">author 1</p>

</div>
<div class="col-sm-4 video-col">
<div class="video-wrapper" data-id="xxx">

I want to change image source in innerHtml data when the submit button is clicked.
<div id="areaEditor">
<div class="holder">
<img src="blob.blob"/>
<input class="filesss" type="file" value="one.jpg"/>
</div>
<div class="holder">
<img src="blob.blob"/>
<input class="filesss" type="file" value="two.jpg"/>
</div>
<div class="holder">
<img src="blob.blob"/>
<input class="filesss" type="file" value="three.jpg"/>
</div>
</div>
$('#newsButton').click(function(e){
e.preventDefault();
alert("klik");
var source = $(".holder").find(".filesss").val();
var imageTag = $(".holder").find("img").attr("src",source);
var htmlData = $("#areaEditor").html();
alert(htmlData);
})
However, the htmlData I alert there only shows me that the img src for the all three image tags is one.jpg.
How to make it corrects so that the image src is based on each the closest input file there?
Many thanks for the help.
You have many .holder elements, you should loop them and get the .filesss value for each one and replace the image src as follows:
$('#newsButton').click(function(e){
e.preventDefault();
alert("klik");
$(".holder").each(function() {
var source = $(this).find(".filesss").val();
$(this).find("img").attr("src", source);
});
var htmlData = $("#areaEditor").html();
})
The idea is to loop over the elements so it can take a single value each time, in your case; you are telling JQuery to get the source from the class holder which it finds it in the first element, so it does not need to look for anything else.
So you can do something like:
<div id="areaEditor">
<div class="holder">
<img src="blob.blob"/>
<input class="filesss" type="file" value="one.jpg"/>
</div>
<div class="holder">
<img src="blob.blob"/>
<input class="filesss" type="file" value="two.jpg"/>
</div>
<div class="holder">
<img src="blob.blob"/>
<input class="filesss" type="file" value="three.jpg"/>
</div>
</div>
<script>
$('#newsButton').click(function(e){
e.preventDefault();
alert("klik");
$(".holder").each(function() {
var source = $(this).find(".filesss").val();
$(this).find("img").attr("src",source);
});
var htmlData = $("#areaEditor").html();
alert(htmlData);
})
</script>
how to display some information of image in another div by clicking on image and information should be shown/hidden as clicking on this image.
$(document).ready(function () {
$(".cell").click(function () {
$(this).find("span").toggle("slow");
})
});
<div class="cell">
<div class="inner">
<span style="display:none;"> <img src="Images/sachin.jpg" alt="" width="180" height="180" /></span> <span class="name">Sachin Tendulkar</span>
<input type="hidden" class="friend_id" value="22 " />
</div>
</div>
I want that name displayed in another div when i click on particular image
If I'm understanding correctly, I think what you're asking is for the name to be displayed when you click on its image?
$(document).ready(function () {
$(".inner>img").click(function () {
$(this).parent().find("span").toggle("slow");
})
});
<div class="cell">
<div class="inner">
<img src="Images/sachin.jpg" alt="" width="180" height="180" />
<span class="name" style="display: none;">Sachin Tendulkar</span>
<input type="hidden" class="friend_id" value="22 " />
</div>
</div>
Take notice of the reformatted html that removes the span around the image (it's not necessary) and the style attributes of your image and name span.
Try:
$(.cell).click(function() {
$(this).toggle("slow");
$(otherDiv).html( $(this).find('span.name').html() );
// other processing ...
});
But this is for your current code, which should be cleaned up a bit. So see below.
You shouldn't need a span to wrap your image. I would try something more along the lines of:
<div class="cell">
<div class="inner">
<img src="Images/sachin.jpg" data-name="Sachin Tendulkar" alt="" />
<input type="hidden" name="22" class="friend_id" value="22" />
</div>
</div>
Along with:
$('.cell').click(function() {
var img = $(this).find('img');
$(img).toggle('slow');
$(otherDiv).html( $(img).attr('data-name') );
// other processing ...
});
