I am trying to find a sample solution for how to create a simple square/ rectangle tile, with a count or sum value in the center - a KPI tile. THis kind of tile is common in PowerBI or other tools and it's probably so simple that HighCharts themselves don't even have an example on their demo site. If anyone has a jsfiddle of how to create one that would wonderful. thanks
Here's a link to the equivilent in powerBI
https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/visuals/power-bi-visualization-card?tabs=powerbi-desktop
I haven't tried anything as I couldn't find a sample to work from, which is my approach generally with Highcharts.

Using the image below, I was able to understand the behavior of a spline curve for 4 points:
With this image I've manage to produce a 3rd degree equation and code it in javascript.
Now I'm trying to understand how to use more than 4 points.
I couldn't find an image showing a curve of 5 (or more) points. Does anyone know how to do it?
What you're looking for is the De Boor Algorithm. The following link (taken from this course website) gives a good explanation (with figures, examples and pseudo-code) of how it works. The following figure was taken from there.
This interactive demo can also give you an idea on what it looks like (note you're interested in the "Spline" demo not the "Bezier").
We are developing a web application using Spring+Tiles. We have a requirement that we have to create a bar graph in a jsp page. We searched a lot on web regarding this issue. Means how we can create a bar graph using Open source Charts API. We found many suggested APIs like JFreeChart, charts4j and etc.
But we are not sure which one to use. Actually our requirement is we have to create a bar graph which can be drillable.
Please help us. If you could give any examples that will be highly appreciated.
Thank you very much in advance. Thanks a lot.
I would recommend you to use the rest services and send the json to highcharts OR D3.js OR DDChart, its the best thing to do in your case below link can do what you want :
http://www.highcharts.com/demo/column-drilldown
Highchart (licence) : http://jsfiddle.net/yPVX9/2/
D3 (free) : http://jsfiddle.net/mcuepavh/1/
DDChart (free) : http://kiersimmons.com/DDChart/index.html
You can try FusionCharts for a drill down chart.
Have a look to this and you can use this in your application : Fusion Charts Linked Charts. Regarding licensing issues, you may get in touch Sales Team.
Apart from that, you can use Raphael.js . Start from the basics say try creating a small rectangle, fill some color, opacity, binding some events, etc. With a day effort you can make a simple bar chart. Once you make a bar chart, attach an event to clear your container and redraw another bar chart with the drill down data. Thats the concept you need for your drill-down.
Having said that, I would still recommend you to use Fusion Charts because they takes care of some smart things - like space management of the bars, the intervals, the colour codes of the bars(if not hard-coded), axis part... Its a finished product which abstracts you from the technical obstructions and give your application a beautiful add-on.
I am new to D3 and am hoping to show a range of prices (lowest price, median price, highest price) for different services using a graph similar to what Glassdoor uses (see this example: http://bit.ly/1koKeLL).
It's a horizontal bar chart that has a variable margin on the right and left so that it graphically shows the low, median, and high data points. Does anyone know the best way to implement this, especially for someone just learning D3?
I think this guy implemented very well a chart that is more complex than your chart:
Bullet Chart in D3
However, if you want to get to know D3, and to use it in an intelligent and productive way, my strong advice is:
Don't take shortcuts.
This means that before you start implementing anything, you go through at least one good tutorial, and take at least brief look at D3 documentation.
A good tutorial is here. Go through ALL 20 lessons. Implement ALL examples on your local machine. You can do it in several days. And only then you come back to your example.
Don't be seduced by stories that you can find on the net like "I started with D3 yesterday, and now I create craziest visualizations". They are either lies or profound ignorance.
This is my problem: For a school project we are trying to create a directed graph and make it fit in a typical html website. We figured out it had to be written in javascript, because a java applet isnĀ“t an option. So this is how it should look like: image.
The data visualised in the graph will be gathered from some xml files.
We took a look at flare and some other packages, but real thing is making a two-way link between the nodes (where the thickness of the arrow represents importance) in our graph. Making the whole thing moveable is also required.
Any ideas? Thank you.
Have a look at jsPlumb - a not featurerich but easy customizable jQuery Plugin for directed graphs

I've been using the chart API to draw a cross sectional profile of a landmass, using a slightly modified version of the chart example shown here.
however, I now need to draw a line of sight between the two end points, as well as a Fresnel(1) zone between the two. can this be done through the interactive chart API? or is there a better way to get this done?
also, I would like to 'select' the first and last entries to display their elevation, however my code doesn't appear to do anything:
Chart.setSelection([{row:0,column:null},{row:Results.length - 1, column:null}]);
After finding some other problems with the visualization API, I just gave up and did the whole thing using Raphael instead, works way better :D
EDIT: didn't know you couldn't answer your own posts within two days :| kinda of annoying since I've spent like a week straight trying to fandangle the bleeding chart -.-
