I'm looking to find the name of this scrolling effect.
As you scroll, the text on the screen changes, as if you were going through a slideshow. The gif is from this website.
I have an idea of how to implement it, but would prefer to use some js library (ideally for react, but not required) that already implements it. Does anyone have an idea of the name, or some library that has it? Thank you!
It's just called scroll-linked animations.
Typically for website animations, you would want to use CSS keyframes, as it is more performant than using javascript. Though you can always trigger CSS keyframe animations with javascript, and tie it to scroll events to create the above effect.

So I saw some homepages with a cool script making the scroll action as a autoscroll to the next div.
Here's what I mean in a better way: You start of in the hero part, and then when you use scroll to scroll down on the page, the script forces the homepage to lock itself to the next div in lets say hero 2 with a smooth animation, is there some kind of plugin for this or can anyone be kind enough to post a script that does that?
Thank you.
You could try ScrollMagic.js or Skrollr.js. ScrollMagic's great because you can use Greensock to animate your elements. Check out this scrollMagic tutorial
As Agent Zebra's answer mentioned there are lots of JavaScript library out there to do this sort of thing.
In the future there will be another way of doing it without JavaScript, using CSS scroll snap points. Firefox added support in version 39, but support in other browsers is lacking right now.
I've been trying to figure out how to create a sticky scroll effect on two images, basically like this: http://www.nationalgeographic.com/americannile/
(scroll down to see you will see the four images with sticky scroll effect)
I have tried some jQuery plug-ins but still couldn't figure out how to create the effect I wanted.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, or just a point in the right direction.
Many thanks
What You want to do is apply some actions when document scroll position changes. Since You are using jQuery, there is plugin exactly for this functionality called ScrollMagic, and here are the demos.
The link you posted uses the scrollr library:
https://github.com/Prinzhorn/skrollr
I've also used this library and I just can recommend it to you. It is really easy to use, for basic animations you don't need any javascript, everything is done via data- attributes.
It even supports mobile devices to some extend.
How can a website shift effect be done like this website? http://showmyshift.com/# When you click a link, the content flies by and shifts.
I believe they are either using CSS3 or Jquery to do this, how can it be done?
EDIT: I also have no idea what this effect is called, nor have I seen it before. I'm hoping someone more experienced has seen this effect before and knows what it is.
it's just a slider, simply look for a slider that allows linking to specific slides, like Unslider (tricky if you don't know what are you doing) or Owl Carousel or the millions out there, and simply link each menu item to a slide. You can also use CSS, but for what you say about your knowledge, it's not recommended since it's way more difficult
I'm looking for a JavaScript library, pure JS or JQuery-based, that will allow me to create a slider similar to AnythingSlider or http://basic-slider.com/demos/. The most important feature I'm looking for is the ability to dynamically append new slides and then trigger a transition to it. The ability to transition to any slide is also important.
Most libraries I've investigated require that you append the slide to an element then retrigger the slider. This is fine however most scripts I've tested change the current slide position or there's a noticeable change in the elements on screen that disrupt the user experience.
Thanks.
I'm a personal fan of bx-slider. It's pretty basic, but it works really well. http://www.bxslider.com/
It just requires a basic div set up, and it's a plugin, so just call it from $('#myID').bxSlider();
Have you taken a look at the Nivo Slider? I have used this before and have never seen the problem you are describing (with retriggering the slider).
I'm trying to create several buttons that have 4-5 frames of animation in them, and rather than using the typical CSS method (where 1 image has both states, and CSS toggles between top and bottom), I was curious if anyone had an idea on how to do this with 4-5 frames rather than 2. Obviously CSS alone can't make this happen - but its becoming a real challenge to find ANY info on this. Because the images have individual animation, I can't simply use the opacity to fade into the new image, it has to contain all 4-5. Any help would be much appreciated!

have a look at k10k and see how the buttons in the top are done: animated png's and animated gifs ;)
The only way I can think of to do this without JavaScript would be for the hover state to load an animated GIF for the background image. Otherwise, you'd have to use something like jQuery to animate the background-position property instead.
for this you'll need to use an animated GIF. if you don;'t have a animated GIF creation tool installed, either use Photoshop, which may be massive overkill, or one fo the free tools like GIFted motion
A very non-traditional frowned upon way this can be done is to...
-Animate them as a flash object. Export the xml/flash and imbed it into the htm
