Submit handler, React Axios: Post and Get in same handler - javascript

I am trying to create a web app that uploads file and attached the current user to the file model as a foreign key. For some reason the get request is being wiped, but it does initially get the needed information.

The 1st console is returning the user information but the 2nd console returns null. Any help will be really appreciated.

Your then statement after the original get ends on line 11, and the rest of your code is outside of that.
With asynchronous code, the code outside of the then block will continue running while it's waiting for a response, so this.state.creator will not have been set yet. Then it will return to the code inside the then block once the promise resolves.
You need to move all of the second block of code inside the intial then block so it is only executed once a response to the original get request has returned:

My guess is that you need to bind your handler, but it's really hard to tell without whole component code.

For the api post not fetching the error can be one possible case of CORS error that browser do not allow you to access other network(private and secured IP address) so you need to actually allow the proxy setting as I can see your post data don't have any proxy enabled. React Native Fetch give error "Network request failed"

I have the following code for creating an event with a image and some body params. It was working fine when i was doing it without image, i am using react-native-image-crop-picker for selecting images. I am getting "Network request failed" error when posting data from react-native. The request never reach my backend as i am getting no logs there. It is working fine with postmen.

React Native "fetch" returning server response without the information

I am using react native to create an application to act as a website that currently exists (with a user interface that works on a phone). i am using the "fetch" method to send a Http POST request to get information from a web server. The web server sends a response but it doesn't include the response message:

response doesn't contain received data directly. It provides interface methods to retrieve it. For example use response.json() to parse response text as JSON. It will return promise that resolves to the parsed object. You won't need to call JSON.parse on it:

React Redux Fetch action returning "415 (Unsupported Media Type)" and "401 (unauthorized)"

I have an action that creates a fetch to POST a client back to the API.
I send a JWT in the "headers" which by itself is not the problem as its also used in a GET that works just fine... but not in a POST. Here is my action:

I tried modifying the headers to include UTF-8 like so.

However this just gave me 401 Unauthorized which means that by using this it is the correct media type but now wont be accepted.
That same JWT works fine in a Fetch GET command so the JWT itself is not the problem - I believe it might be the way I am writing the "Fetch".
Now I do the same thing in Postman and I get through but not with this Fetch...
What have I missed or incorrectly structured for a Fetch POST so that JWT is accepted etc

I'm trying to POST a JSON object using fetch.
From what I can understand, I need to attach a stringified object to the body of the request, e.g.:

This is the real issue here, and it's a bug with chrome devtools, fixed in Chrome 46.
That code works fine - it is POSTing the JSON correctly, it just cannot be seen.
I'd expect to see the object I've sent back
that's not working because that is not the correct format for JSfiddle's echo.

I think your issue is jsfiddle can process form-urlencoded request only. But correct way to make json request is pass correct json as a body:

From search engines, I ended up on this topic for non-json posting data with fetch, so thought I would add this.
For non-json you don't have to use form data. You can simply set the Content-Type header to application/x-www-form-urlencoded and use a string:

Had the same issue - no body was sent from a client to a server.
Adding Content-Type header solved it for me:

This is related to Content-Type. As you might have noticed from other discussions and answers to this question some people were able to solve it by setting Content-Type: 'application/json'. Unfortunately in my case it didn't work, my POST request was still empty on the server side.
However, if you try with jQuery's $.post() and it's working, the reason is probably because of jQuery using Content-Type: 'x-www-form-urlencoded' instead of application/json.

It might be useful to somebody:
I was having the issue that formdata was not being sent for my request
In my case it was a combination of following headers that were also causing the issue and the wrong Content-Type.
So I was sending these two headers with the request and it wasn't sending the formdata when I removed the headers that worked.

Also as other answers suggest that the Content-Type header needs to be correct.
For my request the correct Content-Type header was:
"Content-Type": "application/x-www-form-urlencoded; charset=UTF-8"
So bottom line if your formdata is not being attached to the Request then it could potentially be your headers. Try bringing your headers to a minimum and then try adding them one by one to see if your problem is resolved.
If your JSON payload contains arrays and nested objects, I would use URLSearchParams and jQuery's param() method.
