How can i insert javascript variable in value dynamically? - javascript

this is the value in my input field
value="CODES-{{ date("Ym_M") }}-PRJ-PONUMBER-SHORTTEXT"
i have this variable in javascript
var codes = PC123; this is dynamic
var ponumber = 4124;this is dynamic
var shorttext = 001; this is dynamic
I want a result of:
//PC123-202105_May-PRJ-4124-001
thanks in advance guys.

Keep the date in a data-* attribute and then use javascript to set the input.
<input id="myInput" type="text" data-date="{{ date('Ym_M') }}">
var input = document.getElementById('myInput'); // or $('#myInput'); in JQuery
var codes = 'PC123';
var date = input.dataset.date; // or $('#myInput').data('date'); in JQuery
var ponumber = '4124';
var shorttext = '001';
input.value = `${codes}-${date}-PRJ-${ponumber}-${shorttext}`; // or $('#myInput').val(`${codes} .... `); in JQuery

Input Text in a dynamic javascript table

I try to generate a text field in a table:
The table gets bigger with the input of the user that's why I cant just write the
input syntax in the html document, because the cell isnĀ“t generated from the beginning.
function tableAdd() {
var table = document.getElementById("table");
var titel = document.getElementById("Titel").value;
var description = document.getElementById("Description").value;
var row = table.insertRow();
var projectCell=row.insertCell(0);
projectCell.innerHTML = titel;
// down here is the problem
var x =row.insertCell(1);
x.innerHTML = document.createElement("INPUT")
x.innerHTML.setAttribute("type", "text");
}
The problem is that x.innerHTML is a string, not a html element. You need to set attribute on html element, not string. You can do like this:
var x =row.insertCell(1);
var y = document.createElement("INPUT");
y.setAttribute("type", "text");
x.appendChild(y);
You are trying to assign a reference of HTMLInputElement which is returned from the call to document.createElement("input"); to the non-existent innerHTML property of a HTMLTableRowElement (newRow in my example) reference, returned by insertCell(1);.
Instead you can assign any text value to the value attribute of the HTMLInputElement(input variable in my example) and append the dynamic input to the newly created cell.
function tableAdd() {
var table = document.getElementById("table");
var titel = document.getElementById("Titel").value;
var description = document.getElementById("Description").value;
var row = table.insertRow();
var projectCell=row.insertCell(0);
projectCell.innerHTML = titel;
var newRow =row.insertCell(1);
var input = document.createElement("input");
input.type = "text";
input.value= description
newRow.appendChild(input);
}
tableAdd();
<body>
<input type="text" id="Titel" value="test"/>
<input type="text" id="Description" value="test"/>
<table id="table">
</table>
<button onclick="tableAdd()">add</button>
</body>

How to multipy numbers between a field and a new created field

Please i have a problem here in my work i have an input field and have a button that i use to create new input field with onclick event, but my problem is how to multiply numbers in both input fields and alert the answer.
function create(){
var main_input = document.getElementById("main_input").value,
newinput = document.createElement('input');
newinput.placeholder = "test1";
newinput.value;
document.getElementById("mytest").appendChild(newinput);
}
function multiply(){
var ans = newinput * main_input;
alert(ans);
}
In the absence of clarity, I am posting this solution. Looks like you are not clear on few concepts so let me try to explain them:
You need to move your variables outside the scope of create() so that they are available in the multiply() function.
You cannot just multiply two input fields. You need to take the values from them as shown in the code below.
Hopefully it helps you in moving ahead!
var main_input,newinput;
function create(){
main_input = document.getElementById("main_input");
newinput = document.createElement('INPUT');
newinput.placeholder = "test1";
newinput.value = 10;
document.getElementById("mytest").appendChild(newinput);
}
function multiply(){
var ans = newinput.value * main_input.value;
alert(ans);
}
create();
multiply();
<input id="main_input" value=10 />
<div id="mytest"></div>
Use eval() or you can manually multiply the values like input1.value * input2.value
function create(){
// this is unnecessary, you are creating a new element
// var main_input = document.getElementById("main-input");
var newinput = document.createElement('input');
newinput.placeholder = "test1";
newinput.id = 'test1'; // give the element an id, to access it later by id
// newinput.value; // this too is unnecessary, you'll get the value from the user
if (!document.getElementById('test1')) {
// append the child only if it doesn't exist
document.getElementById("mytest").appendChild(newinput);
}
}
function multiply(){
var newinput = document.getElementById('test1');
var mainInput = document.getElementById("main_input");
alert(eval(newinput.value + '*' + mainInput.value));
// alert(newinput.value * mainInput.value) you can also use this method
}
<div id="mytest">
<input type="text" id="main_input">
</div>
<button onclick="create()">Create</button>
<button onclick="multiply()">Multiply</button>

How to get element by name with $key

PHP
//Here is my html for qty
<p>Qty : <input type="number" value="" name="qty<?php echo $key ?> onChange="findTotal()"/>
JS function
function findTotal() {
var arr = document.getElementsByName('qty');
...
document.getElementById('result').value = decimalPlaces(tot, 2);
}
My qty name needs key for post array. How do I get name inside js function to calculate quantities?
You can use
document.querySelector("input['name^='qty']").value
if you don't have jQuery.
This will select an input with name attribute starting with "qty". If you have multiple inputs which match the criteria you can select them all using
document.querySelectorAll("input[name^='qty']")
which will return a NodeList. You can read more about this here.
You can do something like this
var myVar = document.getElementsByTagName("somename");
//do something else
If you are using jquery
value = $( "input[name^='qtd']" ).val();
//it will pick the input wich name starts with 'qtd'
In pure DOM, you could use getElementsByTagName to grab all input elements, and loop through the resulting array. Elements with name starting with 'qty' get pushed to another array:
var eles = [];
var inputs = document.getElementsByTagName("input");
for(var i = 0; i < inputs.length; i++) {
if(inputs[i].name.indexOf('qty') == 0) {
eles.push(inputs[i]);
}
}
Don't query the element by the name attribute's value. I'm not sure what's the purpose of the key and why you need it in the findTotal method, but here's an example:
<p>Qty : <input type="number" value="" name="qtyMyKey" onChange="findTotal(event)" /></p>
<script>
function findTotal(e) {
var inputEl = e.target,
inputName = inputEl.getAttribute('name'),
myKey;
if (typeof inputName === 'string') {
myKey = inputName.replace('qty', '');
}
console.log(myKey);
//var arr = document.getElementsByName('qty');
//document.getElementById('result').value = decimalPlaces(inputEl.value(), 2);
}
</script>

How to change a field type in netsuite?

I am trying to create an online form using Netsuite.
We have a set for predefined fields like firstname, lastname, etc.
In the same we have a
NLSUBSCRIPTIONS
tag but the field type by default is drop down with multiple select option.
How can I change this drop down to a checkbox?
If you use a custom template you can hide the drop-down and iterate its options to create your own checkboxes.
e.g.
<div class="regFieldWrap">
<span class='cbExpand hideNsLabel'><NLCUSTENTITY_LIST_FIELD></span><input class="otherShadow valid" type="text" name="custentity_list_field_other"><span class="multiProto cbHolder"><input type="radio" name="custentity_list_field"><label class="cbLabel"></label></span>
</div>
and then
<script>
jQuery(function($){
// convert multi select to checkbox
$("span.multiProto").each(function(){
var proto = this;
var selName = $(proto).find("input").attr("name");
var otherCB = null;
$("select[name='"+selName+"']").css({display:'none'}).each(function(){
var sel = $(this);
var isReq = sel.hasClass('inputreq');
if(isReq) sel.removeClass('inputreq');
sel.find("option").each(function(){
if(!this.value) return;
var newby = $(proto.cloneNode(true));
var cb = newby.find("input").val(this.value);
if(isReq) cb.addClass('cb_selectone');
newby.find("label.cbLabel").text(this.text);
$(newby).removeClass('multiProto');
if((/\bother\b/i).test(this.text)){
var otherField = $("input.otherShadow[name='"+ selName+"_other']").each(function(){
var newOther = this.cloneNode(true); // strange but it gets around an IE issue
$(this).remove();
$(newby).find("input").data("conditionalOther", newOther);
newby.get(0).appendChild(newOther);
});
otherCB = newby;
} else proto.parentNode.insertBefore(newby.get(0), proto);
});
sel.get(0).options.length = 0;
});
if(otherCB) proto.parentNode.insertBefore(otherCB.get(0), proto); // make sure this is the end element
});
});

Jquery doesnt update in forms

I made the following code to replace form fields in a page that I can't edit but only manipulate. However, the code does nothing. In chrome console when I print a variable it works fine. The code is below:
//GET val from drop DROP DOWN
var office_id = FieldIDs["OfficeName"];//Gets the input id
var offices;//gets the value from the drop down
$("#FIELD_"+office_id).change(function(){
offices = $(this).val();
}).change();
//The below gets the id's of all the input fields
var address_id = FieldIDs["Address"];
var address2_id = FieldIDs["Address2"];
var city_id = FieldIDs["City"];
var state_id = FieldIDs["State"];
var zip_id = FieldIDs["Zip"];
var phone_4id = FieldIDs["Number4"];//phone
var phone_id = FieldIDs["Number1"];//fax
var pdfm4 = FieldIDs["pdfm4"];
var pdfm = FieldIDs["pdfm"];
if(offices == "SoCal Accounting"){
$('#FIELD_'+address_id).val("7421 Orangewood Avenue");
$('#FIELD_'+address2_id).val("");
$('#FIELD_'+city_id).val("Garden Grove");
$('#FIELD_'+state_id).val("CA");
$('#FIELD_'+zip_id).val("92841");
$('#FIELD_'+phone_4id).val("+1 714.901.5800");//phone
$('#FIELD_'+phone_id).val("+1 714.901.5811");//fax
}
