Show Custom Modal - javascript

I have bootstrap modal which is not hidden. I mean there is no fade class which is generally seen as <div class="modal fade" role="dialog">. I want to show modal as popup when user clicks on button. The code below does not work as it is unable to detect it as modal.
JS
$(function(){
$('.custom-modal').click(function(e){
e.preventDefault();
var mymodal = $('#myModal');
mymodal.modal('show');
});
})
HTML
<button class="btn btn-primary btn-lg custom-modal">Open Modal</button>
<div id="myModal">
<div class="modal-dialog modal-sm">
<div class="modal-content">
<div class="modal-header">
<button type="button" class="close" data-dismiss="modal">×</button>
<h4 class="modal-title">Error</h4>
</div>
<div class="modal-body">
<p> </p>
</div>
<div class="modal-footer">
<button type="button" class="btn btn-default" data-dismiss="modal">Close</button>
</div>
</div>
</div>
</div>

Can you please check the below code? Hope it will work for you. You just need to add class="modal fade" with id="myModal" and it will work perfectly.
Please refer to this link: https://jsfiddle.net/yudizsolutions/2qfeagc5/

$('.custom-modal').click(function(e) {

Modal Not Popping Up When Clicking Button

I'm doing a walkthrough project to learn bootstrap, everything has been going well however now at a part of the project which I followed perfectly to create a signup modal, the button is not causing the modal to popup.
I have double checked that all my bootstrap links are in the right order, triple checked spelling errors, everything seems to be fine, I see no reason as to why the modal wouldn't work.

Triggering modal from condition in javascript

I have been painfully attempting to try and trigger a modal to fire, when a user writes more than 10 words in a textarea. I have tried the bootstrap documentation, 'Toggle AND 'Show' but they don't work. My console informs me that '.modal' isn't a correct function? but bootstrap informs me it is!
Basically my modal does not fire when the condition is met.
Here is my code:
HTML
<form>
<textarea placeholder="Would you like to leave a review?" maxlength="" id="textareaID"></textarea>
</form>
<div class="modal fade" id="exampleModal" tabindex="-1" aria-labelledby="exampleModalLabel" aria-hidden="true">
<div class="modal-dialog">
<div class="modal-content">
<div class="modal-header">
<h5 class="modal-title" id="exampleModalLabel">Modal title</h5>
<button type="button" class="close" data-dismiss="modal" aria-label="Close">
<span aria-hidden="true">×</span>
</button>
</div>
<div class="modal-body">
...
</div>
<div class="modal-footer">
<button type="button" class="btn btn-secondary" data-dismiss="modal">Close</button>
<button type="button" class="btn btn-primary">Save changes</button>
</div>
</div>
</div>
</div>
</div>
</div>
<script src="https://code.jquery.com/jquery-3.5.1.slim.min.js" integrity="sha384-DfXdz2htPH0lsSSs5nCTpuj/zy4C+OGpamoFVy38MVBnE+IbbVYUew+OrCXaRkfj" crossorigin="anonymous"></script>

<script src="/node_modules/jquery/dist/jquery.js"></script>
<script src="./script.js"></script>
JS
$('#textareaID').bind('input propertychange', function() {
if (this.value.length > 10) {
$(document).ready(function(){
$('#exampleModal').modal('toggle');
}
$("#textareaID").val($("#textareaID").val().substring(0,20));
}
});
Use .modal('show') with proper syntax and it's working. It will display modal as soon as you enter 11th character. You can change the condition as per your need.
Regarding the use of $(document).ready(), you should wrap most javascript stuff in this function rather than using it in the if condition. It is just as a best practices. Not all elements would be available when the javascript is being executed.
$(document).ready(function() {
$('#textareaID').on('input propertychange', function() {
if (this.value.length > 10) {
$('#exampleModal').modal('show');
$("#textareaID").val($("#textareaID").val().substring(0, 20));
}
});
});

<textarea placeholder="Would you like to leave a review?" maxlength="" id="textareaID"></textarea>

<div class="modal fade" id="exampleModal" tabindex="-1" aria-labelledby="exampleModalLabel" aria-hidden="true">
<div class="modal-dialog">

</div>
</div>
</div>
</div>
</div>
You can leverage .modal('show').
Keep in mind that adding $(document).ready(fun... inside the binding is useless. You should be wrapping all your jQuery inside it.
Use the following:
$(document).ready(function(){
$('#textareaID').on('input propertychange', function() {
if ($('#textareaID').val().length > 10) {
$('#exampleModal').modal('show');
$("#textareaID").val($("#textareaID").val().substring(0,20));
}
});
});

<textarea placeholder="Would you like to leave a review?" maxlength="" id="textareaID"></textarea>
</form>
<div class="modal fade" id="exampleModal" tabindex="-1" aria-labelledby="exampleModalLabel" aria-hidden="true">
<div class="modal-dialog">
<div class="modal-content">
<div class="modal-header">
<h5 class="modal-title" id="exampleModalLabel">Modal title</h5>
<button type="button" class="close" data-dismiss="modal" aria-label="Close">

<div class="modal-footer">

I'm not big fan of JavaScript so can't sure why it's not working with blur(), but you can do it with jQuery keyup function
$(document).ready(function () {
$('#input1').keyup(function () {
var inputs = $(this).val();
if (inputs < 2) {
swal('Not Valid', 'Enter another', 'warning');
}
});
});
