I have an HTML table in which there are parent rows and for every parent row, there are few child rows. I have to hide these child rows initially and when clicked on parent row, child rows should be shown.
I have a list of data and I am iterating through the list and for each iteration, I am appending the row to table like this.
var json = [{
Message: "abc",
name: "Some name",
id: 345,
col4: 2,
col5: 5
}];
var $container = $("#container");
var $thead = $("#container table thead");
var $tbody = $("#container table tbody");
var $row = $("#container table tbody tr");
json.forEach(function(item) {
var $button = $("<button>" + item.Message + "</button>");
$container.prepend($button);
var table = $("<table>");
table.append($("<tr><th>col1</th><th>col2</th><th>col3</th><th>col4</th><th>col5</th></tr>"));
$button.on("click", function() {
//parent row
var row = $('<tr><td>' + item.Message + '</td>' + '<td>' + item.name + '</td>' + '<td>' + item.id + '</td>' + '</td>' + "" + '</td>' + '<td>' + "" + '</td></tr>');
table.append(row);
//child row
var row = $('<tr><td>' + "" + '</td>' + '<td>' + "" + '</td>' + '<td>' + "" + '</td>' + '<td>' + item.col4 + '</td>' + '<td>' + item.col5 + '</td></tr>');
table.append(row);
$("#table").html(table);
});
});
<script src="https://cdnjs.cloudflare.com/ajax/libs/jquery/3.3.1/jquery.min.js"></script>
<div id="container">
<div id="table">
</div>
</div>
I want to give an id to each parent row and class for child rows and when clicked on parent row child rows should be shown.
What you need to do is give class to parent row and then toggle child rows based on jquery next function
var json = [{
Message: "abc",
name: "Some name",
id: 345,
col4:2,
col5:5
}];
var $container = $("#container");
var $thead = $("#container table thead");
var $tbody = $("#container table tbody");
var $row = $("#container table tbody tr");
// Loop through items in JSON data..
json.forEach(function(item) {
var $button = $("<button>" + item.Message + "</button>");
$container.prepend($button);
var table = $("<table>");
table.append($("<tr><th>col1</th><th>col2</th><th>col3</th><th>col4</th><th>col5</th></tr>"));
// Button click handler..
$button.on("click", function() {
// Replace row HTML..
//parent row
var row=$('<tr class="parent_row" ><td>' + item.Message + '</td>' + '<td>' + item.name + '</td>' + '<td>' + item.id + '</td>' + '</td>' + "" + '</td>' + '<td>' + "" + '</td></tr>');
table.append(row);
//child row
var row=$('<tr style="display: none"><td>' + "" + '</td>' + '<td>' + "" + '</td>' + '<td>' + "" + '</td>' + '<td>' + item.col4 + '</td>' + '<td>' + item.col5 + '</td></tr>');
table.append(row);
$("#table").html(table);
$('.parent_row').click(function() {
$(this).next().toggle();
})
// Show table if it's not already visible..
});
});
table {
margin-top: 20px;
border: 1px solid silver;
width: 500px;
}
th {
text-align: left;
}
button {
margin-left: 15px;
}
<script src="https://cdnjs.cloudflare.com/ajax/libs/jquery/3.3.1/jquery.min.js"></script>
<div id="container">
<div id="table">
</div>
</div>
in case you have more than one child than you can use nextUntill('.parent_row')

How do I access the value of a td (x3) of the same tr (x1), if I click on the tr (x1 of td (x2))?

Thank you, I managed to access the brothers 'td', as follows:
$('tr td:nth-child(3)', '#tblData').click(function () {
returns to the father to look for his brothers
var $thisRow = $(this).closest('tr')
brothers td
IdUsuario = $('td:first', $thisRow).text();
RolId = $('td:nth-child(2)', $thisRow).text();
Estado= $('td:nth-child(3)', $thisRow).text();
//an alert to print the values
alert(IdUsuario + '-' + RolId + '-' + Estado);
});
},
error: function (jQXHR) {
toastr.error('Sistemas Infinitos Informa: '+jQXHR.responseText);
}
});
});
$.each(data, function (index, value) {
var row =
$('<tr>'
+'<td id="IdUsuario">'+ value.IdUsuario + '</td>'
+ '<td id="RolId">' + value.RolId + '</td>'
+ '<td id="Estado" >' + value.Estado + '</td>'
First, each element in the DOM should have a unique id. By repeating the same ID multiple times, I'm not sure your on('click') events will attach in all browsers and return the value you are looking for. Instead, your click event should look something like this:
$('tr', '#tblData').click(function () {
var id1 = $('td:first-child', this).text();
var id2 = $('td:nth-child(2)', this).text();
var id3 = $('td:nth-child(3)', this).text();
...
}
or if you only want to allow clicking on the first TD:
$('tr td:first-child', '#tblData').click(function () {
var $thisRow = $(this).closest('tr')
var id1 = $(this).text();
var id2 = $('td:nth-child(2)', $thisRow).text();
var id3 = $('td:nth-child(3)', $thisRow).text();
...
}
I'm trying to insert a button in the end of each row of the table receitas but the buttons are being set at the start of the table instead of the end of each row.
function mostraTabelaTeste(aTipo, aLista) {
tb = '<table>';
tb += '<tr><th>Tipo</th><th>Nome</th><th>Tempo</th><th>Custo</th><th>Dificuldade</th></tr>';
for(let i in receitas) {
if(receitas[i].tipo==aTipo) {
tb += '<tr><td>' + receitas[i].tipo + '</td><td>' + receitas[i].nome + '</td><td> '+ receitas[i].tempo + '</td><td>' + receitas[i].custo + '</td><td>' + receitas[i].dificuldade + '</td></td><input type="button" id="remove_' + i + '" value="x"</td></tr>';
}
}
tb += '<table>';
document.getElementById(aLista).innerHTML = tb;
}
The line where I put all the properties into the table row (inside of for), I have an input which should be set at the end of the row but instead, it is going to the top of the table.
It's just a type error in the cell wrapping the button you're creating </td> instead of starting <td>
see belown snippet :
receitas = [
{tipo:"typ1",nome:"nome1",tempo:"tempo1",custo:"custo1",dificuldade:"dificuldade1"},
{tipo:"typ2",nome:"nome2",tempo:"tempo2",custo:"custo2",dificuldade:"dificuldade2"},
{tipo:"typ1",nome:"nome3",tempo:"tempo3",custo:"custo3",dificuldade:"dificuldade3"},
{tipo:"typ1",nome:"nome4",tempo:"tempo4",custo:"custo4",dificuldade:"dificuldade4"},
]
function mostraTabelaTeste(aTipo, aLista) {
tb = '<table>';
tb += '<tr><th>Tipo</th><th>Nome</th><th>Tempo</th><th>Custo</th><th>Dificuldade</th></tr>';
for (let i in receitas) {
if (receitas[i].tipo == aTipo) {
tb += '<tr><td>' + receitas[i].tipo + '</td><td>' + receitas[i].nome + '</td><td> ' + receitas[i].tempo + '</td><td>' + receitas[i].custo + '</td><td>' + receitas[i].dificuldade + '</td><td><input type="button" id="remove_' + i + '" value="x"</td></tr>';
}
}
tb += '<table>';
document.getElementById(aLista).innerHTML = tb;
}
mostraTabelaTeste("typ1","table");
<div id="table"></div>
You may need to add one more th for button column in first row. Like below:
tb += '<tr><th>Tipo</th><th>Nome</th><th>Tempo</th><th>Custo</th><th>Dificuldade</th><th> </th></tr>';
I want to add Array elements to the table.
Array elements are dynamic coming from the database. And i am creating the Row for adding the one row from the generated data and appending rowAfter to add the other array elements
Here is the code i have written -
var rowSpan = 0;
var rowSpan1 = 0;
for (element in data)
{
// get products into an array
var productsArray = data[element].products.split(',');
var QuantityArray = data[element].quantity.split(',');
var ChemistArray = data[element].Retailername.split(',');
var PobArray = data[element].Pob.split(',');
rowSpan = productsArray.length;
rowSpan1 = ChemistArray.length;
var row = '<tr>' +
'<td rowspan="'+rowSpan+'">' + data[element].date + '</td>'+
'<td rowspan="'+rowSpan+'">' + data[element].doctor_name + '</td>';
// loop through products array
var rowAfter = "";
for (var i = 0; i < rowSpan; i++) {
if(i == 0) {
row += '<td>' + productsArray[i] + '</td>';
row += '<td>' + QuantityArray[i] + '</td>';
} else {
rowAfter += '<tr><td>' + productsArray[i] + '</td><td>' + QuantityArray[i] + '</td>';
}
}
for (var k = 0; k < rowSpan1; k++) {
if(k == 0) {
row += '<td>' + ChemistArray[k] + '</td>';
row += '<td>' + PobArray[k] + '</td>';
} else {
rowAfter += '<td>' + ChemistArray[k] + '</td><td>' + PobArray[k] + '</td> </tr>';
}
}
row +=
'<td rowspan="'+rowSpan1+'">' + data[element].locations +'</td>'+
'<td rowspan="'+rowSpan1+'">' + data[element].area + '</td>'+
'</tr>';
$('#tbody').append(row+rowAfter);
So as per the code I can finely display ProductArray and Quantity Array
And But i am not able to display the Chemist array after one another.
In the above Image i want to display data( Kapila and Kripa below the Chemist column) Some where making issue with tr and td.
Any help would really appreciated.
Data is a JSON Response -
In my case, ChemistArray(Retailername in response) contains 4 names and POBArray 4 values.
You need to add an empty <td></td> as a "placeholder".
for (element in data) {
var productsArray = data[element].products.split(',');
var quantityArray = data[element].quantity.split(',');
var chemistArray = data[element].Retailername.split(',');
var pobArray = data[element].Pob.split(',');
// find the largest row number
var maxRows = Math.max(productsArray.length, quantityArray.length, chemistArray.length, pobArray.length);
var content = '';
var date = '<td rowspan="' + maxRows + '">' + data[element].date + '</td>';
var doctorName = '<td rowspan="' + maxRows + '">' + data[element].doctor_name + '</td>';
var locations = '<td rowspan="' + maxRows + '">' + data[element].locations + '</td>';
var area = '<td rowspan="' + maxRows + '">' + data[element].area + '</td>';
content += '<tr>' + date + doctorName;
for (var row = 0; row < maxRows; row++) {
// only add '<tr>' if row !== 0
// It's because for the first row, we already have an open <tr> tag
// from the line "content += '<tr>' + date + doctorName;"
if (row !== 0) {
content += '<tr>';
}
// the ternary operator is used to check whether there is items in the array
// if yes, insert the value between the <td></td> tag
// if not, just add an empty <td></td> to the content as a placeholder
content += '<td>' + (productsArray[row] ? productsArray[row] : '') + '</td>';
content += '<td>' + (quantityArray[row] ? quantityArray[row] : '') + '</td>';
content += '<td>' + (chemistArray[row] ? chemistArray[row] : '') + '</td>';
content += '<td>' + (pobArray[row] ? pobArray[row] : '') + '</td>';
// only add "locations + area + '</tr>'" if it is the first row
// because locations and area will span the whole column
if (row === 0) {
content += locations + area + '</tr>';
} else {
content += '</tr>';
}
}
$('#tbody').append(content);
}
content += '<td>' + (productsArray[row] ? productsArray[row] : '') + '</td>'; is just a short-hand for
content += '<td>';
if (productsArray[row]) {
content += productsArray[row];
} else {
content += '';
}
content += '</td>';
If there is item in the productsArray[row], let's say productsArray[0], which is 'Sinarest', then productsArray[row] would be truthy. Else, if there is no more products in the array, such as productsArray[3] will gives us undefined, which is a falsy value and the corresponding conditional will be ran.
I am getting dynamic values in table using Datatables. I am getting my desired value in alert, but I want to show that value in table. for that purpose I used .append, .html but no luck. How can I show = my value in <td>. I also try to gave gave td an id e.g <td id="files">
here is my code:
function format(d) {
var str = d.files;
var myarr = str.split(",");
for (var i = 0; i < myarr.length; i++) {
alert(myarr[i]);
$("#files").append("<a href='/uploads/" + myarr[i] + "'>" + myarr[i] + "</a>");
}
// `d` is the original data object for the row
return '<table id="ChildRows" cellpadding="5" cellspacing="0" border="0" style="padding-left:50px;">' +
'<tr>' +
'<td>Contact Person:</td>' +
'<td>' + d.person + '</td>' +
'</tr>' +
'<tr>' +
'<td>Phone:</td>' +
'<td>' + d.phone + '</td>' +
'</tr>' +
'<tr>' +
'<td>Web:</td>' +
'<td>' + d.web + '</td>' +
'</tr>' +
'<tr>' +
'<td>Trade Type:</td>' +
'<td>' + d.ttype + '</td>' +
'</tr>' +
'<tr>' +
'<td>Files:</td>' + '<td id="files">'
'</td>' +
'</tr>' +
'</table>';
}
I hope it will be a easy fix.any help will be highly appreciable
Your issue is that the #files element doesn't exist at the point you attempt to select it. You need to first add that HTML string to the DOM, then append to it.
Alternatively, you could amend the logic which creates that HTML string to include the output of your for loop, like this:
function format(d) {
var str = d.files;
var filesHtml = str.split(",").map(function(file) {
return '' + file + '';
});
return '<table id="ChildRows" cellpadding="5" cellspacing="0" border="0" style="padding-left:50px;">' +
'<tr>' +
'<td>Contact Person:</td>' +
'<td>' + d.person + '</td>' +
'</tr><tr>' +
'<td>Phone:</td>' +
'<td>' + d.phone + '</td>' +
'</tr><tr>' +
'<td>Web:</td>' +
'<td>' + d.web + '</td>' +
'</tr><tr>' +
'<td>Trade Type:</td>' +
'<td>' + d.ttype + '</td>' +
'</tr><tr>' +
'<td>Files:</td>' +
'<td id="files">' + filesHtml + '</td>' +
'</tr>' +
'</table>';
}
var html = format({
person: 'John Smith',
phone: '1234 567890',
web: 'http://google.com',
ttype: 'Foobar',
files: 'a.jpg,b.jpg'
});
$('div').append(html);
<script src="https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/2.1.1/jquery.min.js"></script>
<div></div>
my jQuery creates tables, but currently it keeps repeating the new tables under the previous ones when 'submit' button is clicked. How do I toggle it so it clears the previous table before showing the new table?
