I have an external list in SharePoint that includes a URL column. The URL column is a calculated field in SQL server, so the entire URL is already there. I need this field to hyperlink and I have been trying to use JSLink to do so. What would the JavaScript for that look like?
For example, if my fields were...
First Name | Last Name | Profile URL
How would I get the URL in the Profile URL field to hyperlink?
I have been looking for solutions all morning without any luck. I am not familiar with JavaScript, so the code I am using is pieced together from posts I have been reading. I have made sure the my JSLink address is correct.
~site/SiteAssets/myCode.js
I have tried different variations of code. My latest is this:
(function () {
var profUrlField = {};
profUrlField.Templates = {};
profUrlField.Templates.Fields = {
"Profile_X0020_URL": {
"View": function (ctx) {
var urlField = ctx.CurrentItem[ctx.CurrentFieldSchema["Profile_X0020_URL"]];
return "<a href='" + urlField + "'>" + urlField + "</a>";
}
}
};
SPClientTemplates.TemplateManager.RegisterTemplateOverrides(profileUrlField);
})();
After applying my JSLink to my web part I reload the page and nothing happens. No errors but no links.
I'm also not sure how to reference the column. In SQL Server it is PROFILE_URL, but in the SharePoint list header it is Profile URL.
Modify the code as below to check if it works.
(function () {
var profUrlField = {};
profUrlField.Templates = {};
profUrlField.Templates.Fields = {
"PROFILE_URL": {
"View": function (ctx) {
var urlField = ctx.CurrentItem[ctx.CurrentFieldSchema.Name];
return "<a href='" + urlField + "'>" + urlField + "</a>";
}
}
};
SPClientTemplates.TemplateManager.RegisterTemplateOverrides(profileUrlField);
})();

I'm still new to Node.js, but I'll try to explain my problem as good as I can.
So I'm working on a movie site to practice my node.js/express skills a bit and I use the following elements (img) on basically every page of my website:
Header with stats and search input and a navigation bar (will be reused on every page)
The follow JS-code are two examples of actions on the client side that I use to navigate to other web pages, this then activates GET on the client side.
$(function () {
$('button').click(function (event) {
event.preventDefault()
// the value people enter in the search box
var search = $('.searchInput').val();
//replace spaces with _
var res = search.replace(/\s/g, "_");
//build the URL
var link = window.location.protocol + '//' + window.location.host + '/search/' + res;
// redirect to trigger GET in indexjs with specific search value
window.location.replace(link);
});
$('.lists').click(function (event) {
var link = window.location.protocol + '//' + window.location.host + '/lists/topAll';
window.location.replace(link);
})
});
I want this to be the same code on every page. I could type the same code every time, but that would be a waste of time.For HTML and CSS I am able to use templates (HTML) or import other CSS files to save time. Is there something similar for JS on the client side?
Put that code in a file, for example "navigator.js" and then load it in your html header in every page you want to use it
navigator.js:
$(function () {
$('button').click(function (event) {
event.preventDefault()
// the value people enter in the search box
var search = $('.searchInput').val();
//replace spaces with _
var res = search.replace(/\s/g, "_");
//build the URL
var link = window.location.protocol + '//' + window.location.host + '/search/' + res;
// redirect to trigger GET in indexjs with specific search value
window.location.replace(link);
});
$('.lists').click(function (event) {
var link = window.location.protocol + '//' + window.location.host + '/lists/topAll';
window.location.replace(link);
})
});
index.html
<script src="navigator.js"></script>
Finally i suggest you to assign an id to your button, for example "searchButton" instead only "button"
Hope this helps
Hi I am developing one application in java-script. I have two pages default.aspx and addnewitem.aspx. there is one html table in default.aspx and one button. When i click on button i want to redirect to addnewitem.aspx page. I have some parameters to send in query string. I am able to redirect to addnewitem.aspx but page not found error i am getting. I am not sure why i am getting page not found error. I am trying as below.
function getValues() {
var Title = "dfd";
var PrimarySkills = "fdfd";
var SecondarySkills = "dfdf";
var url = "http://sites/APPSTEST/JobRequisitionApp/Pages/AddNewItem.aspx?Title=" + encodeURIComponent($(Title)) + "&PrimarySkills=" + encodeURIComponent($(PrimarySkills)) + "&SecondarySkills=" + encodeURIComponent($(SecondarySkills));
window.location.href = url;
}
I am checking querystring in addnewitem.aspx as below.
<script type="text/javascript">
var queryString = new Array();
$(function () {
if (queryString.length == 0) {
if (window.location.search.split('?').length > 1) {
var params = window.location.search.split('?')[1].split('&');
for (var i = 0; i < params.length; i++) {
var key = params[i].split('=')[0];
var value = decodeURIComponent(params[i].split('=')[1]);
queryString[key] = value;
}
}
}
if (queryString["Title"] != null && queryString["PrimarySkills"] != null) {
var data = "<u>Values from QueryString</u><br /><br />";
data += "<b>Title:</b> " + queryString["Title"] + " <b>PrimarySkills:</b> " + queryString["PrimarySkills"] + " <b>SecondarySkills:</b> " + queryString["SecondarySkills"];
$("#lblData").html(data);
alert(data);
}
});
</script>
"http://sites/APPSTEST/JobRequisitionApp/Pages/AddNewItem.aspx?Title=%5Bobject%20Object%5D&PrimarySkills=%5Bobject%20Object%5D&SecondarySkills=%5Bobject%20Object%5D"
I tried lot to fix this. May i know where i am doing wrong? Thanks for your help.
You should use the relative path in your url instead of hard coding the entire folder structure, which is probably incorrect since you are getting a 404. And you need to change the url every time you publish the site to the hosting enviroment when you hard code it like that.
So change
var url = "http://sites/APPSTEST/JobRequisitionApp/Pages/AddNewItem.aspx?Title=...
into
var url = "/AddNewItem.aspx?Title=...
if both the pages are in the same folder. Should AddNewItem.aspx be located in the Pages folder, you have to add that folder of course: var url = "/Pages/AddNewItem.aspx?Title=...
I use WinJS in my application and try to print some content. Made my printer class according to this tutorial https://dzone.com/articles/windows-8-print-contract-%E2%80%93.
function registerForPrintContract(participiantData) {
var printManager = Windows.Graphics.Printing.PrintManager.getForCurrentView();
printManager.addEventListener("printtaskrequested", onPrintTaskRequested, false);
}
function onPrintTaskRequested(printEvent) {
var printTask = printEvent.request.createPrintTask("Print Example", function (args) {
printCurrentPage(args);
printTask.oncompleted = onPrintTaskCompleted;
});
}
function printCurrentPage(args) {
var docHtml = document.createDocumentFragment();
docHtml.appendChild(createDocumentContent());
args.setSource(MSApp.getHtmlPrintDocumentSource(docHtml));
}
function createDocumentContent() {
var container = document.createElement("div");
container.innerHTML = "<h2>" + firstname + " " + lastname + "</h2>" +
"<h4>" + emailaddress1 + "<h4>";
return container;
}
function showPrintUI() {
Windows.Graphics.Printing.PrintManager.showPrintUIAsync();
}
My problem is that I do not know how to forward some object data to createDocumentContent() function. In this example I put firstname, lastname and email. Those data I cannot get from html page I need to send them on print button click.
All examples I saw are about printing current page or making new content from data which we can get from HTML page by querying DOM, no example where I can send custom object.
What is the best way to do this ?
My problem is that I do not know how to forward some object data to createDocumentContent() function. In this example I put firstname, lastname and email. Those data I cannot get from html page I need to send them on print button click.
Do you mean you want to put the html output of "<h2>"+firstname + " " +lastname+"</h2>"+"<h4>" + emailaddress1 + "<h4>" to your print page?
The behavior of innerHTML has changed in Windows Store App Development.
see HTML and DOM API changes list innerHTML section:
Content is filtered as through it was processed by the toStaticHTML method
But WinJS offers a method that you can utilize to inject HTML.
Here is the link to documentation of this method: WinJS.Utilities.insertAdjacentHTML
Here is a code snippet that shows a simple use this method:
function createDocumentContent() {
var obj = {
firstname: "winffee",
lastname: "xia",
emailaddress1:"test#126.com"
}
var htmlString = "<h2>" + obj.firstname + " " + obj.lastname + "</h2>" +
"<h4>" + obj.emailaddress1 + "<h4>";
var container = document.createElement("div");
WinJS.Utilities.insertAdjacentHTML(container, "beforeend", htmlString);
return container;
}
I started working with APIs/Ajax/JSON recently and began a small project to test my knowledge.
I made a simply website where you type a word into a form and it brings back Flickr photos associated with the word.
It works pretty well, but it always includes a simple "undefined" before the first photo which messes with the display of the first row of pictures.
An example can be seen here, simply search for a photo tag and you'll see what I'm talking about:
http://codepen.io/anon/pen/jPExNm
Here is the related jQuery:
$('form').submit(function (evt) {
evt.preventDefault();
// the AJAX part
var flickerAPI = "http://api.flickr.com/services/feeds/photos_public.gne?jsoncallback=?";
var query = $('#photoQuery').val();
var flickrOptions = {
tags: query,
format: "json"
};
function displayPhotos(data) {
var photoHTML;
$.each(data.items,function(i,photo) {
photoHTML += '<div class="photo">';
photoHTML += '<a href="' + photo.link + '" class="image">';
photoHTML += '<img src="' + photo.media.m + '"></a></div>';
}); // end each
$('#photoGallery').html(photoHTML);
}
$.getJSON(flickerAPI, flickrOptions, displayPhotos);
}); // end submit
I haven't found any errors related to this in the Javascript console and couldn't find anything like this while Googling, so I'm turning to StackOverflow. Thank you for any and all help.
Because
var photoHTML;
is the same thing as
var photoHTML = undefined;
Basic example of what you are doing
var str;
str = str + "123"; // undefined + "123" = "undefined123";
You need to set it to an empty string
var photoHTML = "";
So I have a Javascript function on my master page. It works fine when I call it from pages that derive from this master page, however, on pages that don't, it obviously doesn't work. I am not able to put it in another .js file either because it uses some embedded c# code in it, so it has to be within a <script> tag.
This is the function:
function GridExport(viewUrl, fileName)
{
var actionUrl = "<%= System.Web.VirtualPathUtility.ToAbsolute("~/mvc/Indications.cfc/ExportToExcel")%>";
var guid = GetGUIDValue();
window.open((actionUrl + "?id=" + guid + "&viewName=" + viewUrl + "&fileName=" + fileName), null, null, null);
}
is there a way I can just include the Javascript definitions from my master page in another view without deriving from the master page?
You could create a UserControl containing this <script> or abstract out the actionUrl to a parameter of the GridExport function
function GridExport(viewUrl, fileName, actionUrl)
{
var guid = GetGUIDValue();
window.open((actionUrl + "?id=" + guid + "&viewName=" + viewUrl + "&fileName=" + fileName), null, null, null);
}
Another handy way to avoid this path problem would be to have a global variable to define the root of the site:
var root = "<%= System.Web.VirtualPathUtility.ToAbsolute("~/") %>";
then your function could always use this variable and append what it needs:
function GridExport(viewUrl, fileName)
{
var actionUrl = root + "mvc/Indications.cfc/ExportToExcel";
var guid = GetGUIDValue();
window.open((actionUrl + "?id=" + guid + "&viewName=" + viewUrl + "&fileName=" + fileName), null, null, null);
}
Master pages can be embedded within each other. Why not just make a master page with only your javascript in it. Then make another master page that has the javascript master page as it's master. When creating new pages you can choose which one to use.
MasterPage1 -> Just javascript
MasterPage2 -> Contains your other stuff and has MasterPage1 as it's master
If you just want the javascript then user MasterPage1, for everything else user MasterPage2.
