Ajax insert data not returning response - PHP & MySQL

I am working on a scanner reader, so I used ajax when the code is read by the scanner, it should insert data to the database. The problem is the data is not inserting.
Inside the script / Ajax - query is the variable I used to get the data (name)

For insert query, result will return as boolean, So mysqli_num_rows($res) won't accept boolean argument. mysqli_num_rows() expects parameter 1 to be mysqli_result
So you can simply check by below, whether it is inserted or not:

mysqli_num_rows() is for getting the number of rows returned from a SELECT query. You need to check the number of affected rows instead.
You should also be using a prepared statement, and I also recommend that you set up MySQLi to throw errors. I also prefer the object-oriented approach.

AJAX not outputting correct thing

So I'm trying to call a php method from javascript so I can query a database and get the results into my js functionality. Currently, the 'console.log(output)' that is in my ajax is just outputting:

Not really sure why it's doing this, it should be returning the query result which is just one entry from the database. Anyone have any idea? Any help is welcome! Thanks.

I think you misunderstand how to ship data between javscript and php.
Your javascript should be posting with $.post() if you want to send an object or array of data.
Your php will recieve json from the javascript. You need to use php's json_decode function on it to make it useful to php.
If you want the output of your php script to be useful to javascript, you need to encode it with php's json_encode function before returning it to the calling script.

The output is for echo var_dump($_GET); I'm sure. I can tell because of the output format is a var_dump type. and the success part of your code does not have any output. I mean in this part else { //Decodes data, dont change ... the output has been commented out.
I noticed that you are using MySqli but some methods are MySql api like this part of the code

I assume this code is not complete and in debugging phase as I can see many incomplete methods and function calls.
Also try to use prepared statements with place holders for security.
It is a good practice to use ob_clean() before API output as any extra character will destroy the output data and format. However, you will not see errors. There are useful tools for API testing like Browsers Rest Client extensions. The best way for debugging is always debugging tools and frameworks like x-debug.

data not passed between pages in live server

I came across weird problem with my site only after uploaded it to the live server. In localhost I've no issue with these.
The problem is for login and register function. Let me talk about login first.
I keyed in the credentials and found that the page is called in the f12 network tab.However that page doesn't retrieve any data! So I put aside this jquery/ajax for a while and manually checked the php pages if they return any data but still they don't.
Now the flow like this:
login form filled up by user-> ajax request from php script-> php request from class file and return to ajax -> ajax give access to admin dashboard.
Now as I told you, I excluded ajax request and only checked with php and class file. Again it doesn't return anything from the class file to the php script though I only echoed "something"! Its not even go through any function!
Then I omitted, class file, checked the php script with ajax file.I only echo "wexckdsewndxw" and changed tha datatype in ajax to 'text'..still it doesn't get any value!
So in conclusion, data between pages are not passed at all! SO I suspect its something to do with crossDomain issue as mentioned here:
How does Access-Control-Allow-Origin header work?
But not sure how this works and how I should alter my code.

pass data from java script to php file in codeigniter

I had developed a event management system using javascript php and mysql. It works perfectly in plain php but now I need to migrate it into codeigniter and need some advice on how to pass the data from js to php while in codeigniter.

The issue is when I change the javascript in the view page and use it like this

The functionality breaks and I am unable to insert events into the db. How should I be passing the data from js to the controller in this condition?

We can send the value from javascript to controller using Ajax. I have some code of mine which may help you.

As you can see I have pass the empid from my view to controller using ajax which gives me result back in variable. Which in this case is json.

Try this
DayPilot.request("<?php echo base_url().'TimecalCon/insert';?>",...)
You'll have to add "url" in "autoload.php" under config folder, then check if the url being loaded is the right one if not. Try modifying base_url() a bit like adding or removing the "index.php" part in the url.

I am trying to post 4 variables to a database on an external server using a mobile application created using Cordova 4.0.0.
I have already had a look a countless posts similar to this trying, POST, GET, contentType etc. and none of these seem to work. I have worked with JSONP before and it worked fine (I used that code as a template), but this doesn't seem to work.

With the help of #briosheje I managed to solve this issue. In case anyone has a similar problem in the future here is how I solved it:
The problem AJAX request was fine, the issue was in the PHP file on the server. To solve this I sent a json encoded array back containing success / failure messages.
