set file attribute filesystemobject javascript - javascript

I have created a file as part of a script on a network drive and i am trying to make it hidden so that if the script is run again it should be able to see the file and act on the information contained within it but i am having trouble doing this. what i have so far is:
function doesRegisterExist(oFs, Date, newFolder) {
dbEcho("doesRegisterExist() triggered");
sExpectedRegisterFile = newFolder+"\\Register.txt"
if(oFs.FileExists(sExpectedRegisterFile)==false){
newFile = oFs.OpenTextFile(sExpectedRegisterFile,8,true)
newFile.close()
newReg = oFs.GetFile(sExpectedRegisterFile)
dbEcho(newReg.Attributes)
newReg.Attributes = newReg.Attributes+2
}
}
Windows Script Host does not actually produce an error here and the script runs throgh to competion. the only guides i have found online i have been attempting to translate from VBscript with limited success.
variables passed to this function are roughly declared as such
var oFs = new ActiveXObject("Scripting.FileSystemObject")
var Date = "29-12-2017"
var newFolder = "\\\\File-Server\\path\\to\\folder"
I know ActiveX is a dirty word to a lot of people and i should be shot for even thinking about using it but it really is a perfect fit for what i am trying to do.
Please help.

sExpectedRegisterFolder resolves to \\\\File-Server\\path\\to\\folder\\Register which is a folder and not a file.
I get an Error: file not found when I wrap the code into a try/catch block.
I tested the code on a text file as well, and there it works.
So you're either using the wrong method if you want to set the folder to hidden.
Or you forgot to include the path to the text if you want to change a file to hidden.
( Edit: Or if Register is the name of the file, add the filetype .txt ? )
If you change GetFile to GetFolder as described in https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/6tkce7xa(v=vs.84).aspx
the folder will get hidden correctly.

Problem passing file to an input-type-file webelement

How to set File objects and length property at FileList object where the files are also reflected at FormData object?
I was trying to use the hack described in the link above to insert through code the file I want to upload to an '<input type='file', but I am having trouble to implement it.
I am using the following code as a snippet in Chrome devtools Console Panel:
inp = document.querySelector("input[type=file]");
const dT = new DataTransfer();
dT.items.add(new File(['foo'], 'C:\\Users\\MyUser\\Desktop\\SomeFolder\\MyTestFile.txt'));
inp.files = dT.files;
The input text that should display only the file name shows the full path, and when I press the button to upload the file it return an error saying that the file was not founded.
I already check the path and it is 100% right. I don't know much about javascript, in fact I am using Selenium to do the rest of the automation, but this particular subject looks like can only be achieved with js.
Could anyone help me? Am I mising something or did I misunderstood the hack solution and what I am trying to do is not possible at all?

Django/JS - Send file to users, as known as download functionality

I want to let users to download a specific file, by clicking on a button "Download". The button will be linked with many switchers, so I wrote a JS script that change the "href" tag to point to the correct static file.
I tried to follow many stackoverflow questions and read documentation about Django staticfiles, media files but did not understand what I need to do on my case. Any help would be really appreciated, let me please introduce what I did and ask for your help/opinion.
I want to let people download files that can be found in :
"/home/user/xxxx/xxx/project/my_app/static/"
Here is my function in views.py :
def send_file(request,file_name):
from django.contrib.staticfiles.storage import staticfiles_storage
import os
from wsgiref.util import FileWrapper
import mimetypes
filename = staticfiles_storage.url(file_name)
download_name = file_name
wrapper = FileWrapper(open(filename))
content_type = mimetypes.guess_type(filename)[0]
response = HttpResponse(wrapper, content_type=content_type)
response['Content-Length'] = os.path.getsize(filename)
response['Content-Disposition'] = "attachment; filename=%s" % download_name
return response
I need the exact path to open the file, so what I have done is that I defined on my settings STATIC_URL = "/home/user/xxxx/xxx/project/my_app/static/"
. I do not like this solution, because after it, if you check my source, you have the exact path of my project. If I defined STATIC_URL = "static/" it does not work. I looked for a way to get exact path for the static file but it did not work. Any help for this part ?
urls.py:
url(r'^download/static/(?P<file_name>[\w.]{0,256})$',views.send_file, name='send_file'),
template.html, only the button part :
Download
JS, only the part that when you click on a switcher, it changes the href tag of the HTML button :
"if you click on a switcher"
id = switcher-checked
var atag = document.getElementById("dl-link");
var url = "http://localhost:8000/test/download/static/"+id+".csv";
atag.setAttribute("href",url);
Is there a solution to use the {% url 'my_app:send_file %} tag in my JS ? I found that one solution is to put the script directly within "template.html", is it a good behaviour ?
My downloading is working perfectly, but I feel like all my choices are pretty bad (STATIC_URL and JS var url definition). I know that my question is quite dense, but I really need this help. Any examples would be more than appreciated. Thank you.
Couple of points. first one for STATIC_URL you can use "/static/" with starting and ending with slash instead of complete path. since you are trying download from same domain name no need to use complete URL "http://localhost:8000/your-url". You can simply use "/your-url" in js var url variable.
Django cannot render js files, so we have only one option, keeping it in template.html. For better maintaining of js code, try declaring global variable with urls in the template on document load and use them in your script. So that script part will be clear. for ex,
var all_my_urls = {
"url":"{% url 'my_app:send_file'%}"
}

I need to overwrite an existing Google Sheets file with an attached Script

I have a Google Sheets file with an attached Script. The script does a number of things, one is it makes a clone of it self using makeCopy. This portion works. Now I want to be able to keep the same cloned Google file name and same Google file ID and just update the content which includes a Spreadsheet and the associated Google script.
if (!fileFound){
var file = masterSSFile.makeCopy(reportFileName, RepFolder);
} else {
oldFile.setContent(masterSSFile.getBlob());
}
When I use makeCopy with the same file name it creates a second file with the same name but with a different file ID.
The else portion fails because .setContent argument seems to just accept text. The result is the word "Blob" in the oldFile, everything else is gone.
I have other scripts that update the contents of a existing spreadsheet by overriding the contents of the various sheets, but I also want the associated script to also be included in the updated file keeping the same file ID.
I found this....
Overwrite an Image File with Google Apps Script
and tried using
var masterSpreadsheetID = SpreadsheetApp.getActiveSpreadsheet().getId();
var masterSpreadsheetFile = DriveApp.getFileById(masterSpreadsheetID);
var oldFileID = oldFile.getId();
var oldFileName = oldFile.getName();
var newBlob = masterSpreadsheetFile.getBlob();
var file = {
title: oldFileName,
mimeType: 'application/vnd.google-apps.spreadsheet'
};
var f = Drive.Files.update(file, oldFileID, newBlob);
I get error: "We're sorry, a server error occurred. Please wait a bit and try again. " on this line: "Drive.Files.update(file, oldFileID, newBlob);"
After reading this:
https://github.com/google/google-api-nodejs-client/issues/495
it looks like Drive.Files.update(), does not support bound scripts.

How to use SaveAs function in Adobe Acrobat

I was trying to implement a javascript into a pdf button.Once you click it, it will allow you to .
I know there are security issues which does not allow you to use this function in pdf. And it requires you to put a SaveAs Javascript to make it trusted Functions in the computer. So i have put following code as a trusted function in my computer.
var mySaveAs = app.trustedFunction(
function(oDoc,cPath,cFlName)
{
// Ensure path has trailing "/"
cPath = cPath.replace(/([^/])$/, "$1/");
try{
oDoc.saveAs(cPath + cFlName);
}catch(e){
app.alert("Error During Save");
}
}
);
And i have these codes in my pdf file's button which allows me to saveas another pdf file which name is "123.pdf".
var doc = app.activeDocs;
var aMyPath = this.path.split("/");
aMyPath.pop();
var pathname = aMyPath.join("/")
if(typeof(mySaveAs) == "function"){
mySaveAs(doc,pathname,"345.pdf")
}else{
app.alert("Missing Save Fucntion" + "Please contact forms administrator");
}
i don't know why, but it still gives me an error message saying "Error During Save". Does anyone know the reason? Or there's a easier way to use the SaveAs function using JavaScript in Acrobat. Thanks in advance.
app.activeDocs is an array of Doc objects. Therefore the variable doc (which has not the smartest name, BTW) is an array.
However the save function requires one Doc object to work.
Try whether replacing
mySaveAs(doc,pathname,"345.pdf")
with
mySaveAs(this,pathname,"345.pdf")
would work.
I've an old code for similar thing, and that used the below code for saving the current file in new folder. I had used this in Adobe 6. Check if this works for you.
this.saveAs(destfolder+filename);

NetUtil.asyncCopy from one file to append to another in Firefox extension

I'm trying to use NetUtil.asyncCopy to append data from one file to the end of another file from a Firefox extension. I have based this code upon a number of examples at https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Code_snippets/File_I_O, particularly the 'Copy a stream to a file' example. Given what it says on that page, my code below:
Creates nsIFile objects for the file to copy from and file to append to and initialises these objects with the correct paths.
Creates an output stream to the output file.
Runs the NetUtil.asyncCopy function to copy between the file (which, I believe, behaves as an nsIInputStream) and the output stream.
I run this code as append_text_from_file("~/CopyFrom.txt", "~/AppendTo.txt");, but nothing gets copied across. The Appending Text and After ostream dumps appear on the console, but not the Done or Error dumps.
Does anyone have any idea what I'm doing wrong here? I'm fairly new to both Firefox extensions and javascript (although I am a fairly experienced programmer) - so I may be doing something really silly. If my entire approach is wrong then please let me know - I would have thought that this approach would allow me to append a file easily, and asynchronously, but it may not be possible for some reason that I don't know about.
function append_text_from_file(from_filename, to_filename) {
var from_file = Components.classes["#mozilla.org/file/local;1"].createInstance(Components.interfaces.nsILocalFile);
from_file.initWithPath(from_filename);
var to_file = Components.classes["#mozilla.org/file/local;1"].createInstance(Components.interfaces.nsILocalFile);
to_file.initWithPath(to_filename);
dump("Appending text\n");
var ostream = FileUtils.openFileOutputStream(to_file, FileUtils.MODE_WRONLY | FileUtils.MODE_APPEND)
dump("After ostream\n");
NetUtil.asyncCopy(from_file, ostream, function(aResult) {
dump("Done\n");
if (!Components.isSuccessCode(aResult)) {
// an error occurred!
dump(aResult);
dump("Error!\n")
}
});
}
asyncCopy() requires an input stream not a file.
you can do this:
var fstream = Cc["#mozilla.org/network/file-input-stream;1"].createInstance(Ci.nsIFileInputStream);
fstream.init(from_file, 0x01, 4, null);
NetUtil.asyncCopy(fstream, ostream, function(aResult)....
