I'm trying to figure out how to dynamically show a table with a JSON element but in a format that is hard to do with tables. I'm using AngularJs 1.6.4 and Bootstrap but I'm kind of new at Angular. My JSON:-
"foo": {
"name": "foo",
"displayName": "FOO SHOW",
"environments": [
{
"id": "one",
"name": "PROD",
"url": "http://my-prod-url.com"
},
{
"id": "two",
"name": "QA",
"url": "http://my-qa-url.com"
},
{
"id": "three",
"name": "DEV",
"url": "http://my-dev-url.com"
}
]
},
"bar": {
"name": "bar",
"displayName": "BAR SHOW",
"environments": [
{
"id": "four",
"name": "PROD",
"url": "https://my-prod2-url.com"
},
{
"id": "five",
"name": "QA",
"url": "https://my-uat2-url.com"
},
{
"id": "six",
"name": "DEV",
"url": "https://my-dev2-url.com"
}
]
}
I want to display this in a way that dynamically shows everything but based on application on the top and environment on the left of a table. For example:-
ENV | FOO | BAR
PROD| fooProdUrl| barProdUrl
QA | fooQaUrl| barQaUrl
DEV | fooDevUrl| barDevUrl
I've tried this but it's not dynamic and it doesn't display in the order I want:-
<table class="table">
<thead>
<tr>
<th class="text-center">Environment</th>
<th class="text-center" data-ng-repeat="list in applications">{{list.displayName}}</th>
</tr>
</thead>
<tbody class="text-center">
<tr data-ng-repeat="list in applications">
<th class="text-center">
{{list.environments[0].name}} and {{list.name}}
</th>
<td>
{{list.environments[0].url}} and {{list.name}} and {{list.environments[0].name}}
</td>
<td>
{{list.environments[1].url}} and {{list.name}} and {{list.environments[1].name}}
</td>
</tr>
</tbody>
</table>
This displays it in rows but not in the column way I want it.
Should I reorganize my JSON object? Split it in a different way? I've been stuck for a little bit on this.
Thanks!

I have a nested json array of objects as below. I wanted to parse so that I can read using ng-repeat and display in the html table. In the table, names will become headers and values become cells in each row. can you please help me as how to do this in angularjs ?
[
{
"records":
[
{
"cells": [
{"id": "102", "value": "John"},
{"id": "101", "value": "222"},
{"id": "103", "value": "600987"}
]
},
{
"cells": [
{"id": "103", "value": "69987"},
{"id": "101", "value": "999"},
{"id": "102", "value": "Susan"}
]
}
],
"headers": [
{
"id": "101",
"name": "emp_id"
},
{
"id": "102",
"name": "emp_name"
},
{
"id": "103",
"name": "emp_salary"
}
]
}
]
Here is your table should be like this:
<table>
<tr>
<th ng-repeat="h in list[0].headers">{{h.name}}</th>
</tr>
<tr ng-repeat="record in list[0].records">
<th ng-repeat="cell in record.cells">{{cell.value}}</th>
</tr>
</table>
See a working plunkr https://plnkr.co/edit/MyUaovStvxj58RIy0CW7?p=preview
Update:
And you can use orderBy with ng-repeat as davidkonrad mentioned:
<table>
<tr>
<th ng-repeat="h in list[0].headers | orderBy: 'id'">{{h.name}}</th>
</tr>
<tr ng-repeat="record in list[0].records">
<th ng-repeat="cell in record.cells | orderBy: 'id'">{{cell.value}}</th>
</tr>
</table>
Adding something extra to Joe's answer. If you are planning to get the data from a separate JSON file, you can use the following code in your .js file.
(function () {
'use strict';
angular.module('plunker', [])
.controller('MainCtrl', MainCtrl);
MainCtrl.$inject = ['$scope', '$http'];
function MainCtrl($scope, $http) {
$http.get('[path to your JSON file]/data.json').success(function (data) {
$scope.list= data;
});
}
})();
First to introduce to my table structure:
<div class="col-md-9">
<table class="table table-bordered">
<thead>
<tr>
<th>Date</th>
<th>Pair</th>
<th id="{{odds.id}}" ng-repeat="odds in list">{{odds.odd.name}}</th>
</tr>
</thead>
<tbody>
<tr ng-repeat="match in matches ">
<td>{{match.sd | parseMomentDate}}</td>
<td>{{match.h}}-{{match.a}}</td>
<td>{{match.odds.drawNoBet.value}}<span ng-if="!match.drawNoBet.value">--</span></td>
</tr>
</tbody>
</table>
</div>
I am listing odd names, and therefore setting up id attr for the element.
So my problem is how to populate the rest of the table, the table data based on the Id from the table head, every table head to have rows and columns populated based on that id?
I have the next structure of receiving the data:
"id": 4413011,
"sd": "2017-04-27T23:30:00.000+0400",
"h": "Athletic Bilbao",
"a": "Betis Sevilla",
"odds": {
"bothToScore": [
{
"name": "no",
"value": 1.85,
"id": 552240303
},
{
"name": "yes",
"value": 1.95,
"id": 552240338
}
],
"doubleChance": [
{
"name": "12",
"value": 1.22,
"id": 552240012
},
{
"name": "x2",
"value": 2.98,
"id": 552240003
},
{
"name": "1x",
"value": 1.11,
"id": 552240079
}
],
"drawNoBet": [
{
"name": "1",
"value": 1.15,
"id": 552240007
},
{
"name": "2",
"value": 6.15,
"id": 552240267
}
],
"totalGoals": [
{
"name": "under",
"value": 2.15,
"id": 552235662
},
{
"name": "over",
"value": 1.7,
"id": 552235663
}
]
}
},
So for example in the odds object there is a list "bothToScore", therefore "bothToScore" is the id for the table head, and based on that id need to populate the rest of the columns, meaning ;Yes' or 'No'.
Any suggestions?
At this case id mapping is not needed - just ensure same order of <th>s and <tr>s:
angular.module('app', []).controller('ctrl', ['$scope', function($scope) {
$scope.matches = [{
"id": 4413011,
"sd": "2017-04-27T23:30:00.000+0400",
"h": "Athletic Bilbao",
"a": "Betis Sevilla",
"odds": {
"bothToScore": [{
"name": "no",
"value": 1.85,
"id": 552240303
},
{
"name": "yes",
"value": 1.95,
"id": 552240338
}],
"doubleChance": [{
"name": "12",
"value": 1.22,
"id": 552240012
},
{
"name": "x2",
"value": 2.98,
"id": 552240003
},
{
"name": "1x",
"value": 1.11,
"id": 552240079
}],
"drawNoBet": [{
"name": "1",
"value": 1.15,
"id": 552240007
},
{
"name": "2",
"value": 6.15,
"id": 552240267
}],
"totalGoals": [{
"name": "under",
"value": 2.15,
"id": 552235662
},
{
"name": "over",
"value": 1.7,
"id": 552235663
}]
}
}];
$scope.matches.push(JSON.parse(JSON.stringify($scope.matches[0])));
}]);
table, th, td {
border: 1px solid black;
border-collapse: collapse;
}
<script src="https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/angularjs/1.2.23/angular.min.js"></script>
<div ng-app='app' ng-controller="ctrl">
<table>
<thead>
<tr>
<th>Date</th>
<th>Pair</th>
<th ng-repeat-start='(key, value) in matches[0].odds' hidden></th>
<th ng-repeat-end ng-repeat='item in value'>{{item.name}}</th>
</tr>
</thead>
<tbody>
<tr ng-repeat='match in matches'>
<td>{{match.sd | date}}</td>
<td>{{match.h}} - {{match.a}}</td>
<td ng-repeat-start='(key, value) in match.odds' hidden></td>
<td ng-repeat-end ng-repeat='item in value'>{{item.value}}</td>

</tbody>
</table>
</div>
I want to fill a table from a json file using AngularJS.
json file may vary from time to time (dynamic data).
Requirement is: Fill the table in html by parsing json file.
Table is in view.html file and AngularJS code should be in view.js.
JSON file: (there may be even more no of id's under services tree)
{
"result": {
"services": [
{
"id": 1,
"name": "My UI for some project that I'm doing that won't fit",
"application": "app",
"message": "application",
"status": 1
},
{
"id": 2,
"name": "My DB for some project that I'm doing",
"application": "app1",
"message": "application1",
"status": 3
},
{
"id": 3,
"name": "Another service",
"application": "app2",
"message": "application2",
"status": 3
}
],
}
}
The output table should look like:
PS: the table alignment should be set as the name value may or may not has more info.
Thanks
Although, like #Johannes Jander saying, Stackoverflow is not a "write my code for me" service I will show you how to do this.
If you don't mind that the order of the columns will be different, you can easily iterate throw the object's properties and you wouldn't need to manipulate the json object. If the order is important, let me know and I will help you to figure it out.
To read more about what we have here please follow those links:
ng-repeat docs.
How can I iterate over the keys, value in ng-repeat in angular
Now, to the code:
angular.module('app', []).
controller('ctrl', function($scope) {
$scope.json = {
"result": {
"services": [
{
"id": 1,
"name": "My UI for some project that I'm doing that won't fit",
"application": "app",
"message": "application",
"status": 1
},
{
"id": 2,
"name": "My DB for some project that I'm doing",
"application": "app1",
"message": "application1",
"status": 3
},
{
"id": 3,
"name": "Another service",
"application": "app2",
"message": "application2",
"status": 3
}
],
}
}
});
table {
border-collapse: collapse;
}
td {
border: 1px solid;
}
<script src="https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/angularjs/1.2.23/angular.min.js"></script>
<div data-ng-app="app" data-ng-controller="ctrl">
<table data-ng-if="json.result.services.length > 0">
<thead>
<tr>
<th data-ng-repeat="(key, value) in json.result.services[0]" data-ng-bind="key"></th>
</tr>
</thead>
<tbody>
<tr data-ng-repeat="service in json.result.services">
<td data-ng-repeat="(key, value) in service" data-ng-bind="value"></td>
</tr>
</tbody>
</table>
</div>
I have the following code:
var dummyData = {
"activities": [
{ "date": "19/06/2015 19:00", "user": "Dan", "display": "First Item" },
{ "date": "19/06/2015 19:00", "user": "Andrew", "display": "Second Item" },
{ "date": "19/06/2015 19:00", "user": "Trevor", "display": "Third Item" },
{ "date": "19/06/2015 19:00", "user": "Bob", "display": "Fourth Item" }
]
};
$("#sysActTable").dataTable({
"data": dummyData.activities,
});
I have tried several variations but I am always getting the error that points to this page. My HTML is as follows:
<table id="sysActTable" class="table table-hover" style="margin-bottom:0px">
<thead>
<tr>
<th style="width:20%">Date</th>
<th style="width:30%">User</th>
<th style="width:50%">Display</th>
</tr>
</thead>
<tbody>
<tr>
<td style="width:20%"></td>
<td style="width:30%"></td>
<td style="width:50%"></td>
</tr>
</tbody>
again I have tried a number of varieties. Why am I getting this error below?
DataTables warning: table id=sysActTable - Requested unknown parameter '0' for row 0
The problem is that your data is an array of objects. By default, DataTables expects data to be an array of arrays.
You need to use columns.data option to describe your data structure.
$("#sysActTable").dataTable({
"data": dummyData.activities,
"columns": [
{ "data": "date" },
{ "data": "user" },
{ "data": "display" }
]
});
I am having an issue with this handlebar-template:
<div id="shifts" style="visibility:hidden">
{{#sites}}
<div>{{name}}</div>
{{#groups}}
<div>{{name}}</div>
<table>
<thead>
<tr>
{{#users}}
<th class='username' data-userID='{{id}}'>{{name}}</th>
{{/users}}
</tr>
</thead>
<tbody>
{{#shifts}}
<tr>
<td>{{time}}</td>
{{#individuals}}
<td class='vuorot_tyhja' id='{{id}}'>{{name}}</td>
{{/individuals}}
</tr>
{{/shifts}}
</tbody>
</table>
{{/groups}}
{{/sites}}
</div>
During testing it seems that the table actually causes the problem. If I add table, tr ,td, th tags (or others) inside the handlebars, it won't generate the output for those. So basically in this case only the #sites and #groups are shown. If I change the layout so that even sites and groups are within the table, then even those don't show up.
So the data is shown without problems if I remove the styling or ie. use div.
The test-data (if needed) is as follows:
var data = {
"sites": [{
"name": "Site",
"groups": [{
"name": "Ryhmä 1",
"users": [{
"name": "Name1",
"id": 1
},{
"name": "Name2",
"id": 2
},{
"name": "Name3",
"id": 3
},{
"name": "Name4",
"id": 4
},{
"name": "Name5",
"id": 5
}],
"vuorot": [{
"time": "Ke 01.01.14",
"individuals": [{
"id": 1,
"name": "aamu"
},{
"id": 2,
"name": "aamu"
},{
"id": 3,
"name": "aamu"
},{
"id": 4,
"name": "aamu"
},{
"id": 5,
"name": "aamu"
},{
"id": 6,
"shift": "aamu"
},{
"id": 13,
"name": "aamu"
}]
}]
}]
}]
};
What am I missing?
Ok. I found the answer from earlier posts: Handlebars does not fill table
So case mostly solved. The problem fits totally the description, so with that I can debug it.
