Random Image button leads to new html page - javascript

I have a random image button and everytime I click it, it ends up randomizing the pictures in a new blank html page. Not the current html page I'm in.
<script type = "text/javascript" src = "page3.js">
function randomImg1() {
var myImages1 = new Array();
myImages1[1] = "beeDraw.jpg";
myImages1[2] = "blackattack.jpeg";
myImages1[3] = "bee1.png";
var rnd = Math.floor(Math.random() * myImages1.length);
if (rnd == 0) {
rnd = 1;
}
document.write('<img class="bee" src="' + myImages1[rnd] + '">');
}
</script>
Can someone look over this?

As opposed to using document.write I recommend you use access the DOM of your HTML page and get the image you want by ID. Then set the src equal to your new image.

Is there a way to switch images src back to original after on.click src change event?

I'm a noob working my way to learn JavaScript on my own and using some resources but want to probe things on my own hence trying this thing but it's not working for some reason. Help is appreciated.
The object is to clarify some blurred images by swapping the source. The images are called zero.jpg/zeroblur.jpg, one.jpg/oneblur.jpg and so on... The page loads with blurred image sources until clicked on. I want to write code so that it goes back to original blurred source image after 5 secs.
P.S.: The code in comments is what I've tried to write on my own.
window.onload = init;
function init() {
var blurryPic = document.getElementsByTagName("img");
for (var i = 0; i < blurryPic.length; i++) {
blurryPic[i].onclick = clarify;
// setTimeout(resetPic, 5000);
}
}
function clarify(eventObj) {
var pic = eventObj.target;
var id = pic.id;
id = "images/" + id + ".jpg";
pic.src = id;
}
// function resetPic(eventObj) {
// var pic = eventObj.target;
// var id = pic.id;
// id = "images/" + id + "blur.jpg";
// pic.src = id;
// }
It's better with CSS: your image stays the same and you only toggle a class, the class making your image blur.
document.getElementById("clickImg").addEventListener("click", function() {
this.classList.toggle("blurImg")
})
.blurImg {
-webkit-filter: blur(5px); /* Safari 6.0 - 9.0 */
filter: blur(5px);
}
<img src="https://www.muralsticker.com/23751-thickbox/autocollants-en-vinyle-pour-enfants-spongebob-squarepants.jpg" id="clickImg">
If what you want is really to be able to reset the original image, I think it's better to stock it in a specific attribute, like this:
document.getElementById("reset").addEventListener("click", function() {
document.getElementById("clickImg").src = document.getElementById("clickImg").getAttribute('origSrc')
})
var imgs = [
'https://vignette.wikia.nocookie.net/spongebob/images/d/d7/SpongeBob_stock_art.png/revision/latest?cb=20190921125147',
'https://static.vecteezy.com/system/resources/previews/000/072/351/non_2x/spongebob-squarepants-vector.jpg',
'https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/c/c7/BattleForBikiniBottom.jpg'
]
document.getElementById("random").addEventListener("click", function() {
document.getElementById("clickImg").src = imgs[Math.floor(Math.random() * 3)]
})
<input type="button" value="RESET" id="reset" />
<input type="button" value="RANDOM" id="random" /><br/>
<img src="https://www.muralsticker.com/23751-thickbox/autocollants-en-vinyle-pour-enfants-spongebob-squarepants.jpg" origSrc="https://www.muralsticker.com/23751-thickbox/autocollants-en-vinyle-pour-enfants-spongebob-squarepants.jpg" id="clickImg">
I used an if statement for this to check if the first loaded image file was present or not. Then use the attribute src for the file. Here's an example.
#javascript
function magicChanger(){
var myImage = document.getElementById("emailImage")
if (myImage.getAttribute("src") == "first loaded image"){
myImage.setAttribute("src", "second image")
}
else{
myImage.setAttribute("src", "first loaded image")
}
}
#html element
<button id = "emailButton" onclick="magicChanger()">
<img id="emailImage" src="{% static 'GoEnigmaPics/emailIcon.png' %}" alt="email">
</button>
Thanks for all the answers! I wanted to get it done in JS only so CSS wouldn't work. Appreciate the answers and will definitely incorporate in future projects!
P. S. This is what got it done in the end.
window.onload = init;
function init() {
var blurryPics = document.getElementsByTagName("img");
for (var i = 0; i < blurryPics.length; i++) {
blurryPics[i].onclick = clarify;
}
function clarify(eventObj) {
var pic = eventObj.target;
var id = pic.id;
id = "images/" + id + ".jpg";
pic.src = id;
setTimeout(reBlur, 3000, pic);
}
function reBlur(eventObj) {
var pic = eventObj.target;
var id = pic.id;
id = "images/" + id + "blur.jpg";
pic.src = id;
}
Please try this code,To Is there a way to switch images src back to original after on.click src change event?
It switches back because by default, when you click a link, it follows the link and loads the page. In your case, you don't want that. You can prevent it either by doing e.preventDefault();
$(function() {
$('.menulink').click(function(){
$("#bg").attr('src',"img/picture1.jpg");
return false;
});
});
I hope this code will be useful.
Thank You.

Trying to change the src of an image using sessionStorage

I have 2 html pages with an image on each one. I need to be able to click the image on the 2nd page and have it redirect me to the 1st page - with the first image.src changed to that of the second.
What is the best/correct way to do this? I have been trying to do it by storing the src in sessionStorage but it does't seem to be working. Here is the code for setItem:
<script type="text/javascript">
$('.images').on('click', '.groupOne', function(){
var image = $(this).find("img"); // selects images inside group
var imageSrc = img.first().attr("src"); // get src of first image
sessionStorage.setItem("choice", imageSrc);
window.location.href = 'firstPage.html';
});
</script>
And then to change the first image I need to use getItem:
<script type="text/javascript">
$(document).ready(function() {
var imgTwo = sessionStorage.getItem("choice");
var imgOne = document.getElementById("pageOneImage");
imgOne.src = imgTwo; //sets src of img1 to src of img2
});
</script>
But this doesn't seem to be working. Is there an easier way to do this using more jQuery? Thank you!
Maybe not the best solution, but how about adding the src as a param to the query string?
On the second page:
window.location.href = 'firstPage.html?src=' + src;
And the first page:
var reg = new RegExp("(^|&)src=([^&]*)(&|$)", "i");
var r = window.location.search.substr(1).match(reg);
var src = r != null ? unescape(r[2]) : null;
Now you got the src, if redirecting from the second page.

Showing random divs images every time page is load

Lets say I have these images gallery, how do i randomly display the images everytime when i reload the page?
http://creativepreviews.com/fiddle/study/20131007/
Let's say the image will display in the background of the DIV, then the following should do it.
// JS
var imgArray = ["img1.jpg", "cat.jpg", "sky.jpg"]
function randomBg() {
x = Math.random()
y = Math.round(x * 10)
if (imgArray[y] != undefined) {
document.getElementById("blah").style.backgroundImage = "url('" + imgArray[y] + "')"
} else {
document.getElementById("blah").style.backgroundImage = "url('default.jpg')"
}
}
...and the HTML.
<script src="test.js"></script>
<body onload="randomBg()">
<div id="blah"></div>
...or you could replace the style.backgroundImage in the JS with innerHTML = <img src=" etc...
You could do something along these lines (not tested)
var grd = $('#grid');
var imgs = grd.children();
imgs.sort(function(){return (Math.round(Math.random()) - 0.5);});
grd.remove('li');
for(var i=0;i < imgs.length;i++) grd.append(imgs[i]);
In essence what we are doing is getting all the li elements in 'grid' into an array, randomizing them, removing them all from 'grid' and then putting them back in again.
If you had supplied a working fiddle rather than a link to the finished article it would be easier to modify it and provide a more complete solution.

load random image from array to a css background

I am a js newbie. I Have looked for answers to this particular issue but have not found an answer yet in this forum or others, so sorry if it's here and I missed it. I have a script that works for loading a random image from an array to an id element placed directly in the html when the page loads.
I'm trying to see if I can get it to do the same thing but do it for a background image in a id element in a css file. I have firebug and it doesn't give me any error messages with this but it doesn't work either.
window. onload = choosePic;
var myPix = new
Array("images/image1.gif", "images/image2.gif");
function choosePic() {
randomNum = Math.floor((Math.random() * myPix.length));
document.getElementById("headerAnimation").style.backgroundImage.src = myPix[randomNum];
}
You have it almost right.
window.onload = choosePic;
var myPix = new Array("images/image1.gif", "images/image2.gif");
function choosePic() {
var randomNum = Math.floor((Math.random() * myPix.length));
document.getElementById("headerAnimation").style.backgroundImage =
"url(" + myPix[randomNum] + ")";
}

How to change content of a div

I know this question has been asked before, but if someone could explain in greater detail it would be awesome. I have a div and a table and an image inside this div. I am making a image gallery, so I have two links forward and back, how do I make these links change the image, or rather all the content inside the div. I am very new to javascript, actually I know nothing at all about it, if I could get a step by step instruction that would be awesome, I have tried so of the other post codes but can not get it to work, so I have no idea what I am doing wrong.
Sample HTML:
<html>
<head><title>Dummy page</title></head>
<body>
<div id="divID">
<img id="backImg" src="http://test.com/sample.jpg">
</div>
</body>
</html>
To change the whole div:
var div = document.getElementByID('divID');
div.innerHTML = "<b>This is some html</b>";
To just change the image:
var img = document.getElementByID('backImg');
img.src = "http://www.host.com/image.jpg';
Here's a good example that I made that might help. Try it out -- http://jsfiddle.net/SuperBoi45/XMSGe/
Here's the code for a quick look:
HTML:
<button id="before">Previous</button>
<button id="next">Next</button>
<div id="imageGallery"></div>
JavaScript:
function $(id) {
return document.getElementById(id);
}
var foward = null,
back = null,
images = [

var img = new Image();
for (var i = 0; i < images.length; i++) { // caching the images for performance boost
img.src = images[i];
}
var image = {
count: -1,
next: function() {
if (image.count == (images.length) - 1) return false;
image.count += 1;
$('imageGallery').innerHTML = "<img src=\"" + images[image.count] + "\"\/>";
},
previous: function() {
if (image.count <= 0) return false;
image.count -= 1;
$('imageGallery').innerHTML = "<img src=\"" + images[image.count] + "\"\/>";
}
};
foward = image.next;
back = image.previous;
$('next').addEventListener("click", foward);
$('before').addEventListener("click", back);
The best thing about this is that all you have to do is add a new image URL to the array and it will still work.
If you want to change the images but not all the content in the div, I'd recommend putting in another div outside the image gallery.
