We have a search functionality in our application, when user types in something, the result will be generated based on the filter and displayed on page.
Here's the dynamic result after each keyup:
htmlResult = `
<li>
<div>
<img src='${user.avatar}' width='80' alt='${user.fullName}' />
</div>
<a tabindex='0'
class ='btn2'
data-html='true'
data-toggle='popover'
data-content="<div class='list-group'>add
</li>
`;
Here are the event handlers:
$("[data-toggle=popover]").popover();
$(document).on('click', '.btn2', function(event) {
event.preventDefault();
$(this).popover({ html: true });
});
$(document).on('click', '.item', function (event) {
event.preventDefault();
const value1 = $(this).attr('data-val1-value');
const params = {
value1: value1
};
$.ajax({
type: "POST",
url: endPoint,
dataType: 'json',
contentType: 'application/json',
data: JSON.stringify(params),
success: (result) => {
// refresh
}
});
});
There are two problems with this code:
popover will be displayed after 3 times clicking on .item
jQuery ajax won't succeed, it shows 400 Bad Request error on console.
PS: this code works fine with not-generated markup.
any idea?
For popover you must reinitiate every your dynamic content was append to HTML.
For Ajax 400 this is because the URL not found the route path, please check again your backend requirement for this request.
a) to make sure your url is correct,
1) update your serverside funtion not to accept any parameter just for testing
2) call ajax with data: NULL
3) debug and see if it reaches to server side function.
b) if not reached to server side, check if it is a POST or GET in server side function.
c) if you are sure that server side function is correctly called, data without stringfy.
that might help.

I am trying to reload a div with id #todos after the data is saved in the database.
I tried using .load() in $.ajax()
$('.todo--checkbox').change(function () {
let value = $(this).data('value');
$.ajax({
url: `/todo/${value}`,
type: 'PUT',
data: { done: this.checked },
success: function (data) {
if (data.success) {
$('#todos').load(location.href + ' #todos');
}
},
});
});
The problem with this, that it is not reloading the page but it is updating the data in database correctly.
I also tried this
$('.todo--checkbox').change(function () {
let value = $(this).data('value');
$.ajax({
url: `/todo/${value}`,
type: 'PUT',
data: { done: this.checked },
success: $('#todos').load(location.href + ' #todos'),
});
});
In this, it is reloading the page as well as updating the data in the database but the problem is that it only reload and update the data at the first request, and after that I need to reload the whole page to update next data.
I tried to check if I am getting any data or not
$('.todo--checkbox').change(function () {
let value = $(this).data('value');
$.ajax({
url: `/todo/${value}`,
type: 'PUT',
data: { done: this.checked },
success: function (data) {
console.log(data);
},
});
});
It returned nothing, but my data in the mongoDB compass is changing.
I already read this articles so, please don't mark this question as duplicate.
Refresh/reload the content in Div using jquery/ajax
Refresh Part of Page (div)
refresh div with jquery
reload div after ajax request
I suggest you checking requests between your page and the server in the Network tab of browser's Development Console (F12).
Make sure you see PUT request going out to the server to update todo
Make sure that response you receive looks like { success: true } otherwise the following piece of code won't be triggered
if (data.success) {
$('#todos').load(location.href + ' #todos');
}
Make sure you see GET request going out to the server to pull '#todos' asynchronously.
If you don't see request #3 try the following:
replace location.href with window.location.href
try reloading it manually via console (for Chrome, F12 -> Console tab -> paste $('#todos').load(location.href + ' #todos') and hit Enter). That way you are going to skip first ajax request and just will check whether '#todo' section is loadable/reloadable.
I think it’s a cache problem. Try it like this
$('.todo--checkbox').change(function () {
let value = $(this).data('value');
$.ajax({
url: '/todo/${value}?t=202103010001',
type: 'PUT',
data: { done: this.checked },
success: $('#todos').load(location.href + ' #todos'),
});
});
t=202103010001 Set to a random number
I am new to code, and trying to learn things by doing them.
Currently, I am trying to do something very simple using wordpress. which I am trying to create some posts in wordpress, using some external data.
I can fetch the data using CURL. No problem with that and post it using Wp_insert_post, directly.
But, What I want to do is trigger the wp_insert_post function on click of a button in the admin panel ( I have created this as a plugin and a separate plugin dashboard, where the button Is embedded). I have been messing around with the code, and sending the data to wp-admin-ajax.php work fine, and gives the response code 200. But, the response receiving is "0" . if the data passed through are correct, I presume, the response should be "1" ?
I have the following code at the moment.
//Button
<form id="formtesting">
<input type="text" id="name" placeholder="Name">
<input type="submit" id="user-submit" value="user-submit">
//Ajax Call
$(document).ready(function() {
var userSubmitButton = document.getElementById('user-submit');
var adminAjaxRequest = function(formData, myaction) {
$.ajax({
type: 'POST',
dataType: 'json',
url: '/wpdevelopment/wp-admin/admin-ajax.php',
data: {
action: myaction,
data: formData
},
success: function(response) {
if (true === response.success) {
alert('success');
} else {
alert(response);
}
}
});
};
userSubmitButton.addEventListener('click', function(event) {
event.preventDefault();
var formData = {
'name': document.getElementById('name').value
};
adminAjaxRequest(formData, 'data_submission');
});
});
And here is my test function // to test whether the function initiate properly, i try to send a Json error, So then I can include wp_insert_post details.
function data_submission(){
wp_send_json_error( 'I am an error' );}
add_action( 'wp_ajax_data_submission', 'data_submission' );
add_action( 'wp_ajax_nopriv_data_submission', 'data_submission' );
Could not locate where the faulty is. Some help would be appriciated
tks
Use add_action(' wp_ajax_myaction', 'yours_callback_fanc');
wp_ajax_
Remain part is yours action name that is defined into yours ajax call. In yours case it's myaction.
First this is not a standard way to use ajax in wordpress,
use wp_localize_script for embedding the global ajax_url variable,
wp_register_script('plugin-ajaxJs', plugins_url('/js/ajax-call.js', __FILE__));
wp_enqueue_script('plugin-ajaxJs');
wp_localize_script('plugin-ajaxJs', 'my_ajax_url', array('ajax_url' => admin_url('admin-ajax.php')));
Now as url in ajax you can add my_ajax_url.ajax_url,
this will send a request to admin-ajax.php.
Now coming to your question
you are returning an wp_json_error so the result is 0,
use this and return whatever data you wants in ajax success,
$responce['result'] = 1
wp_send_json( $response );
I am new to Jquery Ajax.
I have a jquery ajax function, which receives a value from a server.
function servertransfer_reg(datapack1,datapack2,datapack3,datapack4) {
alert('Start of Ajax Call');
//Ajax , Jquery Call to Server for sending free time data
$.ajax({
type: "POST",
dataType: 'json',
url: "xyz.php",
data: {M_N : datapack1,
Em : datapack2,
TandC: datapack3,
News: datapack4
},
success: function(data) {
alert(data.appid);
$("#server_answer_reg").html('<p>Your App ID Successfully created<p/>' + data.appid);
//document.getElementById("partyID").innerHTML = data.appid;
$("#partyID").html(data.appid);
}
});
}
Here, I am getting data.appid from server.
I want to insert it into an html element #partyID, and after insert I am expecting onchange event to get fired which will do some work for me.
Below is the html.
<input onchange="saveIDs()" type="text" id="partyID" class="none_visible" value=""></input>
Here, my saveIDs() function is not getting called.
I am receiving the intended data from my Ajax call.
Please let me know if you need more information.
The onchange will fire when you leave the focus from it (if you performed any changes). After the successful execution why don't you call the saveIDs() function in the next line? What I mean is
success: function(data) {
alert(data.appid);
$("#server_answer_reg").html('<p>Your App ID Successfully created<p/>' + data.appid);
//document.getElementById("partyID").innerHTML = data.appid;
$("#partyID").html(data.appid);
saveIDs();
}
You must trigger the onchange event.
See:

Below is my code..
HTML Code
<script src="https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.11.1/jquery.min.js"></script>
<div class="body">
<div class="dropdown_div">
<select id="q_type" class="dropdown" onchange="getSubject(this.value)">
<option>Question1</option>
<option>Question2</option>
</select>
</div>
<div class="dropdown_div">
<select id="q_subject" class="dropdown">
<option>Subject1</option>
</select>
</div>
</div>
JS Code
function getSubject(val){
$("option", $("#q_subject")).remove();
var option = "<option>Subject</option>";
$("#q_subject").append(option);
$.ajax({
url: "api.path",
type: 'POST',
dataType: 'json',
data: {id: id},
async: true,
cache: false,
success: function(response) {
alert("Hi");
$("option", $("#q_subject")).remove();
var option = "<option>Subject1</option>";
option += "<option value=1234>Subject2</option>";
$("#q_subject").append(option);
}
});
}
How do I use pushState into my code and let user can click back button to return last page and then still see the ajax data?
First of all, you should save data received from ajax request to browser local storage. Afterwards, in order to show ajax result when browser "back" button was fired, you should bind statements that you are calling in ajax.success() method to window onpopstate event. To omit code duplication, it`s better to use a declared function instead of anonymous one.
function success(response) {
alert("Hi");
$("option", $("#q_subject")).remove();
var option = "<option>Subject1</option>";
option += "<option value=1234>Subject2</option>";
$("#q_subject").append(option);
}
Save data to localstorage and call success function:
$.ajax({
url: "api.path",
type: 'POST',
dataType: 'json',
data: {id: id},
async: true,
cache: false,
success: function(response) {
localStorage.setItem("response", response);
success(response);
}
});
Call success() when "back" button was fired:
window.onpopstate = function (e) {
var res = localStorage.getItem('response');
success(res);
}
I would rather suggest you to use sessionStorage which expires when the browser window is closed :)
$.ajax({
url: "api.path",
type: 'POST',
dataType: 'json',
data: {id: id},
async: true,
cache: false,
success: function(response) {
sessionStorage.setItem("DataSaved", response);
success(response);
}
});
And then
window.onpopstate = function (e) {
var res = sessionStorage.getItem('DataSaved');
success(res);
}
You can solve this using the local Storage or Session storage. You will also need to have a onload function callback, to check if there are any previous values that you stored in the local/session storage, if yes, then show that data in the select box.
I noticed this Back() issue when using Ajax to navigate an MVC-5 application from within a JavaScript generated diagram. All clicks in the diagram are handled by Ajax.
Above solutions do not replace the complete body, in the repaired cases a Back() would restore just the edit fields. In my case, I don't need that. I need to replace the entire page from the AJAX and also enable the Back button to return to my original diagram context.
I tried above solution to replace body, and I have to note, it would only trigger the window.pop event after
history.pushState({}, '')
But when the event triggered and it uses Ajax to fill the body, my Javascript would not properly re-initialize the diagram page.
I decided to use another pattern, to circumvent the the window.pop event and avoid the back-issue. Below code will not return into the Ajax code context, but instead simply replace current page, processing the Ajax return information from the server (=Controller) as a redirect link, like
var url = "/ProcessDiagram/MenuClick?command=" + idmenuparent+"_"+citem; // my Ajax
$.get(url,
function (data) {
window.location = data; // Server returns a link, go for it !
return true; // Just return true after going to the link
});
.. this will preserve the Back() context, because the browser will take care of things.
Controller side composes the redirect link, like
public ActionResult MenuClick(string command)
{
List<string> sl = command.Split(new char[] {'_'}).ToList();
var prId = int.Parse(sl[0].Substring(3));
if (sl[1] == "PU")
return Content("/ProductionUnitTypes/Details/" + UnitContextId(prId) );
if (sl[1] == "IR")
return Content("/ItemRoles/Details/" + RoleContextId(prId) );
// etcetera
}
I solved it by including the below code just before the $.get() function
$.ajaxSetup({cache: false});
It works! Try it :)
I have several buttons which should change content of region on the page. I've read numerous tutorials how can lazy load can be implemented using ajax, but unfortunately with no success. Here is my html:
<div>
<div>
<button id="btn_goals">Goals</button>
<button id="btn_achievements">Achievements</button>
</div>
<div id="region_content"></div>
</div>
and here is my js:
$(document).ready(function () {
$('#btn_goals').on('click', function () {
$.ajax({
url: '#Url.Action("Index", "Goals")',
success: function (data) {
$('#region_content').html(data);
}
});
});
$("#btn_achievements").on("click", function () {
......
});
});
what is the problem?
********** EDIT ************
Well, I changed url in ajax parameters from url: '#Url.Action("Index", "Goals")' to url: '/Goals/Index' and it starts work fine. What is the reason?
Try following the following steps:
Use console.log("Inside Success function"+ data); to test whether the required data is being returned from the controller method.
Use Ctrl+Shift+I in your browser to view the console. If Successful:
Use:
var div = document.getElementById("region_content");
div.innerHTML = div.innerHTML + data;
Make sure your type conversions are done right.
Also specify type: POST in your ajax function.
If you do not see 'Inside Success function' on your console, there might be something wrong with your controller function.
