Hi i have a Google Map that automatically check for user location and put the location to center. I am having problem with putting the marker at the center. I am currently adding marker when you click somewhere.
I also want to clear existing markers when another position is clicked.
var markers = [];
window.onload = function() {
if (navigator.geolocation) {
navigator.geolocation.getCurrentPosition(function(position) {
var pos = {
lat: position.coords.latitude,
lng: position.coords.longitude
};
infoWindow.setPosition(pos);
infoWindow.setContent('Location found.');
map.setCenter(pos);
}, function() {
handleLocationError(true, infoWindow, map.getCenter());
});
}
var mapOptions = {
center: new google.maps.LatLng(21.3891, 39.8579),
zoom: 15,
mapTypeId: google.maps.MapTypeId.ROADMAP,
disableDefaultUI: true,
};
var infoWindow = new google.maps.InfoWindow();
var latlngbounds = new google.maps.LatLngBounds();
var map = new google.maps.Map(document.getElementById("map"), mapOptions);
// This event listener calls addMarker() when the map is
// clicked.
map.addListener('click', function(e) {
placeMarker(e.latLng, map);
});
function placeMarker(position, map) {
var marker = new google.maps.Marker({
position: position,
map: map
});
map.panTo(position);
}
google.maps.event.addListener(map, 'click', function(e) {
document.getElementById("lat").value = (e.latLng.lat());
document.getElementById("lng").value = (e.latLng.lng());
div = document.getElementById('name');
div.style.display = "block";
div = document.getElementById('submit');
div.style.display = "block";
var element = document.getElementById('spacing');
element.style.margin = null;
});
}
#map {
height: 100%;
margin: 0px;
}
<script src="https://maps.googleapis.com/maps/api/js?key=AIzaSyA-2vW1cIR0t0ZVfVdCmcxx0QEV4C3l6hk&callback=myMap"></script>
<div id="map" style="width:100%; height:505px ; z-index: 1;">
</div>
Hi added this code to the existing code to add marker to center:
infoWindow.setPosition(pos);
infoWindow.setContent('Location found.');
map.setCenter(pos);
var marker = new google.maps.Marker({ position: pos, animation:
google.maps.Animation.BOUNCE, icon: 'img/mapicon.png' });
marker.setMap(map);
},
function() {
handleLocationError(true, infoWindow, map.getCenter());
});
}
For the secoind solution, i added this :
function placeMarker(position, map) {
var marker = new google.maps.Marker({
position: position,
icon: 'img/mapicon.png',
map: map
});
map.panTo(position);
markers.push(marker);
}
function setMapOnAll(map) {
for (var i = 0; i < markers.length; i++) {
markers[i].setMap(map);
}
}
function clearMarker(position, map) {
setMapOnAll(null);
}

I have written code for Google Maps API where when I click a marker multiple markers should appear, but the marker that has been clicked should also appear. Means the page should not refresh. Please help me. Here is my code where if you click on the marker multiple markers will appear, but the marker disappears.

Ok, this is how I fixed it:
function initMap() {
var uluru = {
lat: 25.2138,
lng: 75.8648
};
var map = new google.maps.Map(document.getElementById('map'), {
zoom: 8,
center: uluru
});
var marker = new google.maps.Marker({
position: uluru,
map: map
});
var infowindow = new google.maps.InfoWindow({
content: 'Hello World!',
map: map
});
marker.addListener('click', function() {
clicktoOpenMAp();
});
marker.addListener('mouseover', function() {
infowindow.open(map, this);
});
marker.addListener('mouseout', function() {
infowindow.close();
});
function clicktoOpenMAp() {
// var map;
var bounds = new google.maps.LatLngBounds();
var mapOptions = {
mapTypeId: 'roadmap'
};
// map = new google.maps.Map(document.getElementById("map"), mapOptions);
map.mapTypeId = "roadmap";
map.setTilt(50);
var markers = [
['chittorgarh', 24.8887, 74.6269],
['morak', 24.7265, 75.9739],
['mangrol', 25.3362, 76.5112]
];
for (i = 0; i < markers.length; i++) {
var position = new google.maps.LatLng(markers[i][1], markers[i][2]);
bounds.extend(position);
marker = new google.maps.Marker({
position: position,
map: map,
title: markers[i][0]
});
google.maps.event.addListener(marker, 'click', (function(marker, i) {
return function() {
infoWindow.setContent(infoWindowContent[i][0]);
infoWindow.open(map, marker);
}
})(marker, i));
map.fitBounds(bounds);
}
var boundsListener = google.maps.event.addListener((map), 'bounds_changed', function(event) {
this.setZoom(8);
google.maps.event.removeListener(boundsListener);
});
}
}
You were "creating" another map everytime you clicked in the marker (I commented the line so you know), then you need to put the Function clicktoOpenMap inside initmap.
Note: I also added async defer to the script where you call the api
<script
src="https://maps.googleapis.com/maps/api/js?key='YourGoogleApiBecauseicantsharemine'&callback=initMap" async defer></script>
You can hide the markers with
markers[i].setMap(null);
and to erase them
var markers = [];
I am creating a project using google map. My project contains hospital address ( in longitude and latitude) to be stored in database. But I want to show nearest hospital from my current location. And I am unable to figure out how to do it. Please help me with best algorithm and with some code.
Following code is used just to display all hospital address in map now I want is how to show only 3 nearest hospital from my current positiom.
function initMap() {
var mapType = google.maps.MapTypeId.ROADMAP;
var animationType = google.maps.Animation.DROP;
var currentLocationAnimationType = google.maps.Animation.BOUNCE;
var mapElement = document.getElementById('map');
var nepalLocation = {
lat: 28.3949,
lng: 84.1240
};
var mapOptions = {
center: nepalLocation,
zoom: 7,
mapTypeId: mapType,
};
// actual map
map = new google.maps.Map(mapElement, mapOptions);
var infoWindow = new google.maps.InfoWindow();
var latlngbounds = new google.maps.LatLngBounds();
var geocoder = geocoder = new google.maps.Geocoder();

});
});
} else {

}
for (var i = 0; i < markers.length; i++) {
var data = markers[i]
var myLatlng = new google.maps.LatLng(data.lat, data.lng);
var image = "img/iconHospital.png";
var marker = new google.maps.Marker({

Is it possible to add the LatLng to the label of the marker that is placed at random to show where that marker is? Also considering the infoWindow option but have not been successful yet.
var map;
var markers = 'ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ';
var markersIndex = 0;
function initialize() {
var Wilm = new google.maps.LatLng(34.2257,-77.9447);
var mapOptions = {
zoom: 12,
center: Wilm,
mapTypeId: google.maps.MapTypeId.TERRAIN
}
map = new google.maps.Map(document.getElementById('map-
canvas'),mapOptions);
google.maps.event.addListener(map, 'click', function(event) {
addMarker(event.latLng);
});
}
function addMarker(location) {
var marker = new google.maps.Marker({
position: location,
label: markers[markersIndex++ % markers.length],
map: map
});
google.maps.event.addListener(marker, 'rightclick', function(event) {
marker.setMap(null);
});
markers.push(marker);
}
google.maps.event.addDomListener(window, 'load', initialize);
Not sure what you mean by a label.
this will add markers to the map with an info window with the latlng:
function initMap() {
var Wilm = new google.maps.LatLng(34.2257, -77.9447);
var mapOptions = {
zoom: 12,
center: Wilm,
mapTypeId: google.maps.MapTypeId.TERRAIN
}
map = new google.maps.Map(document.getElementById('map'), mapOptions);
google.maps.event.addListener(map, 'click', function(event) {
placeMarker(event.latLng);
});
}
function placeMarker(location) {
var marker = new google.maps.Marker({
position: location,
map: map
});
var contentString = 'Lat' + marker.getPosition().lat() + ', lng: ' + marker.getPosition().lng();
var infowindow = new google.maps.InfoWindow({
content: contentString
});
marker.addListener('click', function() {
infowindow.open(map, marker);
});
}
function initMap() {
var Wilm = new google.maps.LatLng(34.2257, -77.9447);
var mapOptions = {
zoom: 12,
center: Wilm,
mapTypeId: google.maps.MapTypeId.TERRAIN
}
map = new google.maps.Map(document.getElementById('map'), mapOptions);
google.maps.event.addListener(map, 'click', function(event) {
placeMarker(event.latLng);
});
}
function placeMarker(location) {
var marker = new google.maps.Marker({
position: location,
map: map
});
var contentString = 'Lat' + marker.getPosition().lat() + ', lng: ' + marker.getPosition().lng();
var infowindow = new google.maps.InfoWindow({
content: contentString
});
marker.addListener('click', function() {
infowindow.open(map, marker);
});
}
<div id="map"></div>

I use geolocation and I can view map my coordinates. Then, marker put the coordinate.
I want to change marker position.
My code here:
var x=document.getElementById("demo");
function getLocation()
{
if (navigator.geolocation)
{
navigator.geolocation.getCurrentPosition(showPosition,showError);
}
else{x.innerHTML="Geolocation is not supported by this browser.";}
}
function showPosition(position)
{
lat=position.coords.latitude;
lon=position.coords.longitude;
latlon=new google.maps.LatLng(lat, lon)
mapholder=document.getElementById('mapholder')
mapholder.style.height='250px';
mapholder.style.width='100%';
var myOptions={
center:latlon,zoom:14,
mapTypeId:google.maps.MapTypeId.ROADMAP,
mapTypeControl:false,
navigationControlOptions:{style:google.maps.NavigationControlStyle.SMALL}
};
var map=new google.maps.Map(document.getElementById("mapholder"),myOptions);
var marker=new google.maps.Marker({position:latlon,map:map,title:"You are here!"});
This code get my location coordinates. How can i change marker position?
I am sorry Eren about the my previous answer.I misunderstood.I think , this is correct one what you needed.
Display latitude and longitude on marker movement
Refer this site
I found a solution in this page. My problem is solved with this.
refer this
and this site
var map;
var myCenter = new google.maps.LatLng(37, 35);
var markersArray = [];
function clearOverlays() {
for (var i = 0; i < markersArray.length; i++) {
markersArray[i].setMap(null);
}
markersArray.length = 0;
}
function initialize() {
var mapProp = {
center: myCenter,
zoom: 5,
mapTypeId: google.maps.MapTypeId.ROADMAP
};
map = new google.maps.Map(document.getElementById("googleMap"), mapProp);
google.maps.event.addListener(map, 'click', function (event) {
placeMarker(event.latLng);
});
}
function placeMarker(location) {
clearOverlays();
var marker = new google.maps.Marker({
position: location,
map: map,
});
markersArray.push(marker);
var infowindow = new google.maps.InfoWindow({
content: 'Latitude: ' + location.lat() + '<br>Longitude: ' + location.lng()
});
infowindow.open(map, marker);
}
google.maps.event.addDomListener(window, 'load', initialize);
moveBus() is getting called before initialize(). Try putting that line at the end of your initialize() function. Also Lat/Lon 0,0 is off the map (it's coordinates, not pixels), so you can't see it when it moves. Try 54,54. If you want the center of the map to move to the new location, use panTo().

myOptions = {

map = new google.maps.Map(document.getElementById('map-canvas'), myOptions),
marker = new google.maps.Marker({

function moveBus(map, marker) {

Right now I have google map code that will set a single marker on a map. What I want is for that single marker to be moved to whatever coordinates the user clicks on. I only want 1 marker on the map, so I need that single marker to be moved to whatever location is clicked. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

The current answers do a lot more work than is necessary by removing and re-adding the marker(s). The best way to do this is to use the setPosition() function that the Google Maps API provides for this purpose.
Here is your code modified to use setPosition() to move the pointer:
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
<head>
<style type="text/css">
#map_canvas { height:600px; width:800px }

var myOptions = {

var map = new google.maps.Map(document.getElementById("map_canvas"), myOptions);
var marker;
myListener = google.maps.event.addListener(map, 'click', function(event) {

google.maps.event.addListener(map, 'drag', function(event) {

google.maps.event.addListener(map, 'click', function(event){
var marker_position = event.latLng;
marker = new google.maps.Marker({
map: map,
draggable: false
});
marker.setPosition(marker_position);
})
Make a global javascript variable "marker".
Then in your listener add the if marker exists statement and remove it if true
myListener = google.maps.event.addListener(map, 'click', function(event) {
if(marker){marker.setMap(null)}
placeMarker(event.latLng);
google.maps.event.removeListener(myListener);
});
try this
if (marker) { marker.setMap(null) }
marker = new google.maps.Marker({ position: event.latLng, map: map });
Burak Erdem answer works fine, but actually you dont need and array to do that, it is enough one var since it is only one last marker, becouse when you set a new one, you delete inmediatly the last one. I did it with this few lines and it worked fine:
var map;
var lastMarker;
function initialize() {
var map_canvas = document.getElementById('map_canvas');
var map_options = {
center: new google.maps.LatLng(-25.363882, 131.044922),
zoom: 8,
mapTypeId: google.maps.MapTypeId.ROADMAP
}
map = new google.maps.Map(map_canvas, map_options)
google.maps.event.addListener(map, 'click', function(event) {
placeMarker(event.latLng);
});
}
function placeMarker(location) {
if (lastMarker != null)
lastMarker.setMap(null);
var marker = new google.maps.Marker({
position: location,
map: map
});
lastMarker = marker;
}
google.maps.event.addDomListener(window, 'load', initialize);
I accomplished this with the following:
// create a new marker
var marker = new google.maps.Marker({
});
//add listener to set the marker to the position on the map
google.maps.event.addListener(map, 'click', function(event) {
marker.setPosition(event.latLng);
marker.setMap(map);
marker.setAnimation(google.maps.Animation.DROP);
});
It creates a marker and then move it to each mouse click location...
I also added a drop marker animation as well.
Instead of creating multiple markers this creates one marker and moves it to the clicked location.
