Is it possible to get places inside a rectangle or any other shape in google maps api? Basically, I want a user to draw a rectangle on the map and my program should find all the places(e.g restaurants) that are inside that rectangle.
I was able to this with a circle, but I don't know how to that with a rectangle.
Thanks in advance.
If you need to search places within a rectangle using the places library of Maps JavaScript API v3, you should use a bounds parameter in your PlaceSearchRequest object.
https://developers.google.com/maps/documentation/javascript/reference#PlaceSearchRequest
bounds Type: LatLngBounds|LatLngBoundsLiteral
The bounds within which to search for Places. Both location and radius will be ignored if bounds is set.

I am working with angular-4 application. To display map I used #types/googlemaps npm package. Refer this link for more details.
As my requirements I have to display shape (polygon) over the map. It was done by using Drawing Tools of google map. Now my question is how to display text and icon box on polygon as displayed in above image. I tried with InfoWindow of google map but infowindow is different compare to the box which displayed in above image.

I've got this interesting challenge here that I don't know how to solve. I'm trying to create HTML buttons from an Image. This image here is the example I am using. How can I split up all the trapezoids into separate buttons that register separately when tapped on the corresponding regions. I would assume I need to specify some kind of boundary for each trapezoid but I don't know how you would do that for a decently complex shape like this.
Use the HTML <map> element to create an image map from the image. Image maps allow you to map out shapes (circles, rectangles and irregular polygonal) from coordinates you provide and these shapes become clickable with their own hrefs. You are also able to get the x,y coordinates during the click event.
There are a variety of free tools on the Internet to generate the coordinates and the overall code.

I have added US state boundary polygons on top of google map like in this example http://econym.org.uk/gmap/example_states4.htm
Now i want to display state names and roads on top of my colored polygons, is there any google map API to do this? Or is there any way to do this in google map?
EDIT:
What exactly i need is this, take a look at this example
http://openlayers.org/en/v3.1.1/examples/layer-group.html
In this example there are two layers "Food insecurity layer" and "World borders layer", in this "World borders layer" is on top of "Food insecurity layer". I need to render US state boundary and its Name on top of my polygon layer, is there any way to do this is google maps.

Requirements: search a location and plot to map using leaflet?
I have a location that will be plot to the map as a marker using leaflet ie search option
L.geoSearch is a great plug-in that allows for geocoding addresses. Might help you with this.

Using Google maps javascript API i want to draw arrow on top of the poly line so when the user is looking at the Map he would understand that some one traveled from here and to here.
The existing functionality
I want something like this
Please help.
Help will be appreciated.
You may calculate the angle between two points, here's a how-to.
Depending on the calculated angle you can place a marker at the start-point.
Here you find the description of the markers: http://sites.google.com/site/gmapicons/home/ (Direction indicators)
Edit:
See a demo: http://jsfiddle.net/doktormolle/9gJjj/
You'll find a function fx() there which expects a DirectionsRoute as argument and draws the markers.
Edit2:
Note that you may also use an IconSequence which may be a better approach, See: Google Map API Direction Triangle Icon Ambiguous
