Controller reading component data - javascript

My idea is to create a big form from separated components. So this is my main template:
<form novalidate>
<div class="row">
<user></user>
</div>
<button type="button" class="btn btn-default" ng-click="submit()"> Submit </button>
</form>
and its controller (the template is binded from ui route config to the controller)
(function () {
'use strict';
angular.module('app')
.controller('formCtrl', formCtrl);
function formCtrl ($scope) {
$scope.submit = function() {
console.log("read data");
}
}
})();
Now, the user component:
(function () {
'use strict';
var module = angular.module('app.user');
module.component("user", {
templateUrl: "app/user/user.html",
controllerAs: "model",
controller: function () {
var model = this;
model.user = {};
}
});
})();
and the user template:
<form novalidate>
<form-group>
<label for="inputUser"> Name <label>
<input ng-model="model.user.name" id="inputUser" type="text" placeholder="User"/>
</form-group>
<form-group>
<label for="inputUser"> Email <label>
<input ng-model="model.user.email" id="inputUser" type="email" placeholder="Email"/>
</form-group>
<div>
{{model.user | json}}
</div>
</form>
Now I want to be able to read user data when the user do the submit. How can I do it?

When using components, depending on the type of component (smart or dumb), you have to emit an output to the parent controller to handle such thing. But in this case, you can use ngModel to handle a model and change it on the parent from within the component. For example:
Working snippet:
angular.module('app', [])
.controller('formCtrl', function($scope) {
$scope.user = {};
$scope.submit = function() {
console.log($scope.user);
}
})
.component("user", {
bindings: {
user: '=ngModel'
},
templateUrl: "app/user/user.html",
controllerAs: "model",
controller: function() {}
});
angular.element(function() {
angular.bootstrap(document, ['app']);
});
<script src="https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/angularjs/1.6.0/angular.min.js"></script>
<form novalidate ng-controller="formCtrl">
<div class="row">
<user ng-model="user"></user>
</div>
<button type="button" class="btn btn-default" ng-click="submit()">Submit</button>
</form>
<script type="text/ng-template" id="app/user/user.html">
<form novalidate>
<div>
<label for="inputUser">Name
<label>
<input ng-model="model.user.name" id="inputUser" type="text" placeholder="User" />
</div>
<div>
<label for="inputUser">Email
<label>
<input ng-model="model.user.email" id="inputUser" type="email" placeholder="Email" />
</div>
<div>
{{ model.user | json }}
</div>
</form>
</script>

A possible solution would be $$childTail. So if I want to access to user:
$scope.$$childTail.model.user

I'm trying to open a modal when i click the button. I made comment line the other part which i'm using but it works fine. The second part is for only the modal but it is not working. I even can not open the modal. If there is a basic way to do this can you share with me? I only need to open this modal. I can handle the rest of it.
From the Docs:
There are a few things to keep in mind when using ngApp:
only one AngularJS application can be auto-bootstrapped per HTML document. The first ngApp found in the document will be used to define the root element to auto-bootstrap as an application. To run multiple applications in an HTML document you must manually bootstrap them using angular.bootstrap instead.

AngularJS: Get attribute value in controller

i am a newbie of angularJS, i just want to ask how can i get value of on-success attribute which will have a JSON object on a successful upload request.
"on-success" attribute exists on post-creator.template.html page.
index.html
<body>
<div>
<post-creator post-id="0"></post-creator>
</div>
</body>
This a post-creator.template.html
<form role="form">
<div class="form-group float-label-control">
<label>Title</label>
<input type="text" placeholder="Name" class="form-control" ng-model="model.post.title">
</div>
<div upload-button
url="/user_uploads"
on-success="onSuccess(response)"
on-error="onError(response)"
ng-model="onSuccess(response)"
>Upload</div>
<div class="text-center">
<button type="button" class="btn btn-default" ng-click="model.save(model.post)">Save</button>
</div>
</form>
And this is post-creator.component.js:
(function () {
"use strict";
var module = angular.module(__appName);
function controller($http) {
var model = this;
model.post = null;
model.save = function (post) {
//get on-success value here
//console.log(model.onSuccess);
}
}
module.component("postCreator", {
templateUrl: "components/post-creator/post-creator.template.html",
bindings: {
category: "<",
postId: "<",
subCategory: "<"
},
controllerAs: "model",
controller: ["$http", controller]
});
}());
you can inject $element to your controller and get attributes binded to your directive by $element[0].attributes.
function controller($http, $element) {
var attrs = $element[0].attributes;
// you own logic
}

AngularJS - submit form programmatically after validation

I have recently started working on AngularJS 1.6.
I am trying to submit a form programmatically. The reason is I want to validate a few fields (required field validation). I have spent a lot of efforts (probably 3-4 hours) trying to make this work but none of the existing answers on stack overflow or AngularJS docs seems to be working for me today (strange), hence I am posting this as last resort.
Below is my html
<form method="post" id="loginform" name="loginform" ng-submit="loginUser()" novalidate>
<div>
{{message}}
</div>
<div>
<label>User Name</label>
<input type="text" id="txtUserName" ng-model="user.UserName" name="user.UserName" />
</div>
<div>
<label>Password</label>
<input type="text" id="txtPassword" ng-model="user.Password" name="user.Password" />
</div>
<div>
<input type="submit" id="btnLogin" title="Save" name="btnLogin" value="Login" />
</div>
</form>
My angular code
var demoApp = angular.module('demoApp', []);
demoApp.controller("homeController", ["$scope", "$timeout", function ($scope, $timeout) {
$scope.loginUser = function () {
var form = document.getElementById("loginform");
//var form = $scope.loginform; - tried this here...
//var form = $scope["#loginform"]; tried this
//var form = angular.element(event.target); - tried this...
// tried a lot of other combinations as well...
form.attr("method", "post");
form.attr("action", "Home/Index");
form.append("UserName", $scope.user.UserName);
form.append("Password", $scope.user.Password);
form.append("RememberMe", false);
form.submit();
};
}]);
I keep on getting error 'attr' is not a function.
All I need is submit a form using post method, with values. Just before that I am trying to intercept the submit call and check for validations.
I am open to try any other approach as well. Such as changing the input type from submit to button. Putting the input outside the form. I would be more than happy if validations and submit both can happen any which way. I just want it to post back the values after validating on the client side and then the server will take care of the redirect.
Note: I want the form to do a full postback so that I can get it to redirect to another form. (I know I could use Ajax, but some other day, may be!)
1st of all avoid doing var form = document.getElementById("loginform");. Instead of using form.submit you can use the following code. Do it the angular way cheers :D
$scope.loginUser = function () {
if($scope.loginform.$valid){
user.rememberme=false;
$http({
url: 'Home/Index',
method: "POST",
data: user
})
.then(function(response) {
// success
},
function(response) { // optional
// failed
});
}
};
this is a code to validation if validation not complate button is not enable
<form method="post" id="loginform" name="loginform" ng-submit="loginUser()" novalidate>
<div>
{{message}}
</div>
<div>
<label>User Name</label>
<input type="text" id="txtUserName" required ng-model="user.UserName" name="UserName" />
</div>
<div>
<label>Password</label>
<input type="text" id="txtPassword" ng-model="Password" name="user.Password"required />
</div>
<div>
<input type="submit" ng-disabled="myForm.UserName.$invalid || myForm.Password.$invalid" id="btnLogin" title="Save" name="btnLogin" value="Login" />
</div>
</form>
You should use $scope when trying to access the form, something like $scope.loginform. But......
Take a look at ng-messages. Heres an example using ng-messages with your form:
<form id="loginform" name="loginform" ng-submit="loginUser()">
<div>
{{message}}
</div>
<div>
<label>User Name</label>
<input type="text" id="txtUserName" ng-model="user.UserName" name="user.UserName" required/>
<div class="help-block" ng-messages="loginform.txtUserName.$error" ng-show="loginform.txtUserName.$touched">
<p ng-message="required">Username is required.</p>
</div>
</div>
<div>
<label>Password</label>
<input type="text" id="txtPassword" ng-model="user.Password" name="user.Password" required/>
<div class="help-block" ng-messages="loginform.txtPassword.$error" ng-show="loginform.txtPassword.$touched">
<p ng-message="required">Password is required.</p>
</div>
</div>
<div>
<input type="submit" id="btnLogin" title="Save" name="btnLogin" value="Login" ng-click="loginUser()" />
</div>
</form>
Add ngMessages:
var demoApp = angular.module('demoApp', ['ngMessages']);
demoApp.controller("homeController", ["$scope", "$timeout", function ($scope, $timeout) {
$scope.loginUser = function () {
if($scope.loginform.$valid){
//Code to run before submitting (but not validation checks)
} else{
return false;
}
};
}]);
Don't forget to include ngMessages in your app declaration and include the ngMessages.js script file. Note how you can simply use HTML5 validators.
I found the thing I was looking for. In the end I had to create a directive for validating and then submitting. So I am posting it here as a whole answer.
My HTML
<div ng-controller="homeController" ng-init="construct()">
<form method="post" action="Index" role="form" id="loginform" name="loginform" ng-form-commit novalidate class="ng-pristine ng-invalid ng-invalid-required">
<div class="form-group">
<label for="UserName">User ID</label>
<input autocomplete="off" class="form-control ng-valid ng-touched ng-pristine ng-untouched ng-not-empty"
id="UserName" name="UserName" ng-model="user.UserName" type="text" value=""
ng-change="userNameValidation = user.UserName.length == 0">
<span class="field-validation-error text-danger" ng-show="userNameValidation">The User ID field is required.</span>
</div>
<div class="form-group">
<label for="Password">Password</label>
<input autocomplete="off" class="form-control ng-valid ng-touched ng-pristine ng-untouched ng-not-empty"
id="Password" name="Password" ng-model="user.Password" type="password" value=""
ng-change="passwordValidation = user.Password.length == 0">
<span class="field-validation-error text-danger" ng-show="passwordValidation">The Password field is required.</span>
</div>
<div>
<input type="button" id="btnLogin" title="Login" name="btnLogin" value="Login" ng-click="validateUser(loginform)" />
</div>
</form>
</div>
Look for ng-form-commit on the form element. It is the directive that I created.
My Angular code
var demoApp = angular.module('demoApp', []);
demoApp.factory("commonService", function () {
return {
isNullOrEmptyOrUndefined: function (value) {
return !value;
}
};
});
//This is the directive that helps posting the form back...
demoApp.directive("ngFormCommit", [function () {
return {
require: "form",
link: function ($scope, $el, $attr, $form) {
$form.commit = function () {
$el[0].submit();
};
}
};
}]);
demoApp.controller("homeController", ["$scope", "commonService", function ($scope, commonService) {
$scope.construct = function construct() {
$scope.user = { UserName: "", Password: "" };
};
$scope.userNameValidation = false;
$scope.passwordValidation = false;
$scope.isFormValid = false;
$scope.validateUser = function ($form) {
$scope.isFormValid = true;
$scope.userNameValidation = commonService.isNullOrEmptyOrUndefined($scope.user.UserName);
$scope.passwordValidation = commonService.isNullOrEmptyOrUndefined($scope.user.Password);
$scope.isFormValid = !($scope.userNameValidation || $scope.passwordValidation);
if ($scope.isFormValid === true) {
$scope.loginUser($form);
}
};
$scope.loginUser = function ($form) {
$form.commit();
};
}]);
I found the directive here
Example using Angular 1.5 components.
(function(angular) {
'use strict';
function DemoFormCtrl($timeout, $sce) {
var ctrl = this;
this.$onInit = function() {
this.url = $sce.trustAsResourceUrl(this.url);
/*$timeout(function() {
ctrl.form.$$element[0].submit();
});*/
};
this.validate = function(ev) {
console.log('Running validation.');
if (!this.form) {
return false;
}
};
}
angular.module('app', [])
.component('demoForm', {
template: `

why Ng Repeat is not working if button invoked from a different form?

I have a html table that contains an ng repeat directive and two button.The first one will open a modal that contains a new form and let me create my user and then when i click save it will add it to the list.The second one is in the same original form and do the add a user.
What i did not understand why when i click on the first button which is in a different form i can not update the ng repeat however for the second one it's possible.
This is the code:
homepage.jsp
<body ng-app="myApp">
<div class="generic-container" ng-controller="UserController as ctrl">
<div id="createUserContent.jsp" ng-include="createUserContent"></div>
<table>
<tr>
<td>
<button type="button" class="btn btn-primary"
ng-click="ctrl.openCreateUser()">Create</button>
</td>
</tr>
</table>
<table class="table table-hover">
<thead>
<tr>
<th>ID.</th>
<th>Name</th>
<th>Address</th>
<th>Email</th>
<th width="20%"></th>
</tr>
</thead>
<tbody>
<tr ng-repeat="u in ctrl.users">
<td><span ng-bind="u.ssoId"></span></td>
<td><span ng-bind="u.firstName"></span></td>
<td><span ng-bind="u.lastName"></span></td>
<td><span ng-bind="u.email"></span></td>
</tr>
</tbody>
</table>
</div>
</body>
user_controller.js

for (var i = 0; i < self.users.length; i++) {
console.log('FirstName ' + self.users[i].firstName);
}
};
/**
this function will not work
**/
self.saveUser = function (user) {
self.users.push(user);
self.fetchAllUsers();
$log.log("saving user");
$uibModalStack.dismissAll();
};
/**

self.addNewRow = function () {

self.openCreateUser = function () {
var modalInstance = $uibModal.open({

resolve : {
items : function () {
return $scope.items;
}
}
});
modalInstance.result.then(function (selectedItem) {
$scope.selected = selectedItem;
}, function () {
$log.info('Modal dismissed at: ' + new Date());
});
};
self.fetchAllUsers();
});
createUserContent.jsp
<form role="form" ng-controller="UserController as ctrl" >
<div class="form-group">
<label for="FirstName">FirstName</label> <input type="FirstName"
ng-model="ctrl.user.firstName" class="form-control"

placeholder="Enter email" />
</div>
<div class="form-group">

<button type="submit" class="btn btn-default">Cancel</button>
</form>
Because of your modal template can't access your UserController object and doesn't show error because you used in modal template same controller so reloaded as new Ctrl doesn't refer parent Ctrl.
However better to use different controller and pass parent controller object to modal controller and then modal body can use all parent object. so you should pass parent object to modal controller.
When you include createUserContent.jsp popup file in your main file then no need to use ng-controller="UserController as ctrl" in your modal template you used in modalInstance controller : 'Ctrl',
like:
var modalInstance = $uibModal.open({
templateUrl: 'createUserContent.jsp',
controller: 'ModalCtrl', // ModalCtrl for modal
controllerAs:'modal', // as modal so no need to use in modal template
size: 'lg',
resolve: {
items: function () {
return $scope.items;
},
parent: function(){ // pass self object as a parent to 'ModalCtrl'
return self;
}
}
and ModalCtrl like:
.controller('ModalCtrl', ['parent', function (parent) {
this.parent = parent;
}]);
here used ModalCtrl for modal as modal so you can access parent object like: modal.parent.user
template like:
<form role="form" >
<div class="form-group">
<label for="FirstName">FirstName</label> <input type="FirstName"
ng-model="modal.parent.user.firstName" class="form-control"
id="FirstName" placeholder="Enter FirstName" />
.....
....
<button type="submit" class="btn btn-default"
ng-click="modal.parent.saveUser(modal.parent.user)">Save</button>
<button type="submit" class="btn btn-default">Cancel</button>
</form>

Why my form action in modal is not update?

I am working with modal form in AngularJs. I have to send different request according to what was entered in the form. I want to change the action url of the form. I want to have a calculate url. When i open the modal my url is not updated in the form action. Why ? What is wrong ?
Here is the code
<script>
angular.module('plunker', ['ui.bootstrap']);
var url = '/url/test'; // this value is calculated
var ModalDemoCtrl = function ($scope, $modal, $log) {
/* Note: The hard coded user object has been commented out, as
it is now passed as an object parameter from the HTML template.
*/
/* $scope.user = {
user: 'name',
password: null
};*/
$scope.open = function (user) {
$scope.user = user;
$modal.open({
templateUrl: 'myModalContent.html',
backdrop: true,
windowClass: 'modal',
controller: function ($scope, $modalInstance, $log, user) {
$scope.user = user;
$scope.submit = function () {
$log.log('Submiting user info.');
$log.log(JSON.stringify(user));
$modalInstance.dismiss('cancel');
}
$scope.cancel = function () {
$modalInstance.dismiss('cancel');
};
},
resolve: {
user: function () {
return $scope.user;
}
}
});
};
};
</script>
<div ng-controller="ModalDemoCtrl">
<script type="text/ng-template" id="myModalContent.html">
<div class="modal-header">
<h3>I'm a modal!</h3>
</div>
<!--HERE I WANT TO CHANGE THE ACTION URL ACCORDING TO THE USER -->
<form action="{{'/app/'+url}}" ng-submit="submit()">
<div class="modal-body">
<label>User name</label>
<input type="text" ng-model="user.user" />
<label>Password</label>
<input type="password" ng-model="user.password" />
</div>
<div class="modal-footer">
<button class="btn btn-warning" ng-click="cancel()">Cancel</button>
<input type="submit" class="btn primary-btn" value="Submit" />
</div>
</form>
</script>
<button class="btn" ng-click="open({user: 'username', password: 'password'})">Open me!</button>
<div ng-show="user.password">Got back from modal: {{ user | json}}</div>
