I am doing npm install and getting these errors. Cant figure out what is really going on or what am I really missing here. I tried manually installing node-gyp . Totally frustrating

One of the packages makes use of node-gyp. Node-gyp is a library to build native-addons for nodejs, that are OS-specific (see node-gyp)
To fix these issue, you need to install Python and Visual Studio Build Tools on windows.
A "simple" method to do this, is to either install it directly via the node installer for windows, or use the npm package windows-build-tools(the README also has a link to the node installer method).

It looks like you're missing the Visual Studio and Python on your system, or at least Node isn't aware of them. You might want to try installing:

With the Windows Build Tools, you need to run from an elevated (admin) terminal

Above I gave an error while installing quick.db. Does anyone have a way to solve it?

My node version is: v0.13.0-pre

Check if the dependencies of node-xmpp module is installed.
Try to see node xmpp documentation
You need to install first node-expat which is dependent of libexpat library. I tried
yum install libexpat
but it does not exist. I was able to find another library which helps.
Try:
(for CentOS)
yum install libicu-devel
(for Debian 6 system)
apt-get install libicu-dev
Then
npm install node-expat
