I am trying to achieve something simple. Basically I have 3 radio groups and onchange of either one of those group, I want to get the values of all the radio groups and display on an alert box.
My code is as follows
html
<input type="radio" name="ac" value="yes"> YES
<input type="radio" name="ac" value="no"> NO
<br>
<input type="radio" name="tier" value="normal"> normal
<input type="radio" name="tier" value="deluxe"> deluxe
<br>
<input type="radio" name="cap" value="big"> big
<input type="radio" name="cap" value="small"> small
js
$("input[type=radio]").on("change",function(){
var ac=$("input[type=radio][name=ac]").val();
var tier=$("input[type=radio][name=tier]").val();
var cap=$("input[type=radio][name=cap]").val();
alert(ac+" "+tier+" "+cap);
});
I have a jsfiddle here too https://jsfiddle.net/5fg6by8m/
ON the fiddle, it seems like the event doesn't fire at all, while on my localhost server using mozilla to browse I always get the values of the first items of each group in my alert box (yes normal big). I might be doing some silly mistake. Please help me correct this.
Thanks in advance...

corrected fiddle

You can use below code. you have to use :checked psudo selector
$(document).on("change","input[type=radio]",function(){
var ac=$('[name="ac"]:checked').val();
var tier= $('[name="tier"]:checked').length>0? $('[name="tier"]:checked').val():"";
var cap=$('[name="cap"]:checked').length>0 ?$('[name="cap"]:checked').val():"";
alert(ac+" "+tier+" "+cap);
});
<script src="https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/2.0.0/jquery.min.js"></script>
<input type="radio" name="ac" value="yes"> YES
<input type="radio" name="ac" value="no"> NO
<br>
<input type="radio" name="tier" value="normal"> normal
<input type="radio" name="tier" value="deluxe"> deluxe
<br>
<input type="radio" name="cap" value="big"> big
<input type="radio" name="cap" value="small"> small
refer the working demo, this will help to you.
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
<head>
<title></title>
<script src="https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.12.4/jquery.min.js"></script>
</head>
<style type="text/css">
</style>
<body>
<div class="main">
<input type="radio" name="ac" value="yes"> YES
<input type="radio" name="ac" value="no"> NO
<br>
<input type="radio" name="tier" value="normal"> normal
<input type="radio" name="tier" value="deluxe"> deluxe
<br>
<input type="radio" name="cap" value="big"> big
<input type="radio" name="cap" value="small"> small
</div>
<script type="text/javascript">
$(document).ready(function(){
$("div.main input[type=radio]").on('change',function(){
var thelength = $("div.main input[type=radio]").length;
//alert(thelength);
for(var i=0;i<thelength;i++)
{
var theValueofCheck = $("div.main input[type=radio]").eq(i).val();
alert(theValueofCheck);
}
});
});
</script>
</body>
</html>
You didn't have selected framework in jsfiddle, so please select jquery in jsfiddle then run the code.
Added :checked in your JS code
$(document).ready(function(){
$("input[type=radio]").on("change",function(){
var ac=$("input[type=radio][name=ac]:checked").val();
var tier=$("input[type=radio][name=tier]:checked").val();
var cap=$("input[type=radio][name=capacity]:checked").val();
alert(ac+" "+tier+" "+cap);
});
});
Fiddle
Check this:
<input type="radio" name="ac" value="yes"> YES
<input type="radio" name="ac" value="no"> NO
<br>
<input type="radio" name="tier" value="normal"> normal
<input type="radio" name="tier" value="deluxe"> deluxe
<br>
<input type="radio" name="cap" value="big"> big
<input type="radio" name="cap" value="small"> small
JS:
jQuery( function( $ ) {
function recalc()
{
var ac = $("input[name=ac]").val();
var tier = $("input[name=tier]").val();
var cap = $("input[name=capacity]").val();
alert(ac+""+tier+""+cap);
}
$(document).ready(function(){
$("input[type=radio]").on("change",function(){
recalc();
});
});
});
Shorter solution, select all checked buttons using input:checked and jQuery .each()
$(document).ready(function() {
$("input[type=radio]").on("change", function() {
var results = "";
$("input:checked").each(function(key, val) {
results += $(val).val() + "<br>";
});
$(".results").html(results);
});
});
<script src="https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.10.0/jquery.min.js"></script>
<input type="radio" name="ac" value="yes"> YES
<input type="radio" name="ac" value="no"> NO
<br>
<input type="radio" name="tier" value="normal"> normal
<input type="radio" name="tier" value="deluxe"> deluxe
<br>
<input type="radio" name="cap" value="big"> big
<input type="radio" name="cap" value="small"> small
<div class="results"></div>

Problem in your code:
find("input[type=text]").val(this.value); will give you all the input type=text, and update all of them with this.value, what you really want is to target the specific element, so should be something like .find("input[name=" + this.name + "][type=text]")
Solution:
Use .find("input[name=" + this.name + "][type=text]") to find the last element with name="xxxx" and type=text, this will return only one result since the combination is unique
The idea is to target the single input element you want to update, also you should clean up your code, attribute orders etc, remove id if you are not using it.
UPDATE: change input update radio button.
.find("input[type=radio][name=" + this.name + "][value=" + this.value + "]")
when update your text input, you can target the input where type=radio with same name and same value then use .prop("checked", true) to check it.
$(document).ready(function() {
$("input[type=radio]").click(function() {
$(this).closest('body').find("input[name=" + this.name + "][type=text]").val(this.value);
});
$("input[type=text]").on('input', function() {
$(this).closest('body').find("input[type=radio][name=" + this.name + "][value=" + this.value + "]").prop("checked", true);
});
//init
$("input[type=radio]:checked").click();
});

<input name="selector5" type="text" value="_" maxlength="3">
<input name="selector6" type="text" value="_" maxlength="3">
</td>
</tr>
</tbody>
The form your changing the input is the first form,
select the next form by adding the next method after ( closest( form) )
Don't Forget form tags plus they have to be next to one another.
$(document).ready(function () {
$("input[type=radio]").click(function () {
$(this).closest('form').next() .find("input[type=text]").val(this.value);
});
});
$(this).closest() is used to find the closest parent element. It would only select the element that is the parent of $(this) element.
You should give the text inputs unique IDs so that they can be easily identified.
Change this-
<input name="selector1" type="text" value="_" maxlength="3">
To this-
<input name="selector1" id="selector1" type="text" value="_" maxlength="3">
And then in jquery,
$("input[type=radio]").click(function () {
$("#selector1").val(this.value);
});
Try this code
Add a common class to every radio button
$(document).ready(function() {
$('.class_name_of_radio').change(function() {
$("input[type=text][name="+this.name+"]").val(this.value);
});
});
Create a onchange function for all the radio button on all the forms. Pass the value of the radio button on the function and get the value from the function.
Eg:
Function myChange(myRadioVal)
{
$("#inputTextBoxId").val(myRadioVal);
//code here
}
I have some generated HTML along the lines of this.
<form id="form_56">
<input type="radio" name="option" value="0">
<input type="radio" name="option" value="1">
<input type="radio" name="option" value="2">
<input type="radio" name="option" value="3">
<input type="radio" name="option" value="4">
<input type="radio" name="option" value="5">
<input type="radio" name="option" value="6">
</form>
The form id can be anything, but I want to take a form ID and return the selected value from 0 to 6.
I tried following the questions here, but they didn't seem to translate easily to a specific form.
$('#form_56:radio[name=option]:checked').val();
I'm able to use the selector to grab the proper form, but everything I've attempted to get the selected value has returned undefined.
Thanks for your time.
First, you need to change the colon to a space or " > ".
Second you need to change radio to input.
$('#form_56 input[name=option]:checked').val();
<script src="https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/2.1.1/jquery.min.js"></script>
<form id="form_56">
<input type="radio" name="option" value="0">
<input type="radio" name="option" value="1">
<input type="radio" name="option" value="2">
<input type="radio" name="option" value="3">
<input type="radio" name="option" value="4">
<input type="radio" name="option" value="5">
<input type="radio" name="option" value="6">
</form>
<a href="javascript:console.log($('#form_56 input[name=option]:checked').val());">
<button>Test</button>
</a>
$("#form_56 input:radio[name='option']").val()
You need an event for listening when it changes
see example
$(function() {
$("#form_56 input:radio[name='option']").click(function() {
var val = $(this).val();
alert(val);
});
});
https://jsfiddle.net/rodrigo/cp8rd7h0/
problem in your code: on change event not assign to radio button so undefined alert popup
here is solution:
$(document).ready(function () {
$('input[type=radio]').on('change', function () {
alert($('input[name=option]:checked', '#form_56').val());
});
});
For any form:
$('form>input[type="radio"]:checked').val()
With id:
$('#form_56>input[type="radio"]:checked').val()
It will return selected value or undefined, if no value selected.
Good luck!
function getSelectedValue()
{
return $('form>input[type="radio"]:checked').val();
}
$(function() {
$('button').on(
'click',
function() {
console.log(getSelectedValue() + ' selected');
}
);
});
form {display: inline}

On my page I have two radio buttons for yes and two for no.
How I can do it if I check yes in one place it check second yes button or if I check no the second no will check too.
Following is my code:
<fieldset>
<input checked="checked" id="search_by_range_no" name="search_by_range" type="radio" value="no">
<input class="input-long" id="size10" name="size10" type="text" value="27">

<input class="input-long" id="size1" name="size1" type="text" value="15 - 150">

<input checked="checked" id="search_by_range_no" name="search_by_range" type="radio" value="no">
<input class="input-long" id="size20" name="size20" type="text" value="65">

<input id="search_by_range_yes" name="search_by_range" type="radio" value="yes">
<input class="input-long" id="size2" name="size2" type="text" value="25 - 250">

</fieldset>
how i can select two radios at the same time?
You can't have more than one button checked in the same radio group. You need to give the two sets different names. I used search_by_range_A and search_by_range_B. Also IDs have to be unix.
To make it automatically check the other button, use a .change() handler that gets the value and then selects the other checkbox with the same value and checks it.
$(":radio").change(function() {
var value = $(this).val();
$(":radio[value=" + value + "]").prop("checked", true);
});
<script src="https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/2.1.1/jquery.min.js"></script>
<fieldset>
<input checked="checked" id="search_by_range_A_no" name="search_by_range_A" type="radio" value="no">
<input class="input-long" id="size10" name="size10" type="text" value="27">
<br>
<input id="search_by_range_A_yes" name="search_by_range_A" type="radio" value="yes">
<input class="input-long" id="size1" name="size1" type="text" value="15 - 150">
<br>
<input checked="checked" id="search_by_range_B_no" name="search_by_range_B" type="radio" value="no">
<input class="input-long" id="size20" name="size20" type="text" value="65">
<br>
<input id="search_by_range_B_yes" name="search_by_range_B" type="radio" value="yes">
<input class="input-long" id="size2" name="size2" type="text" value="25 - 250">
<br>
</fieldset>
And again...ID of every element on a webpage should be Unique!
Use classes instead.
But nevertheless, it is still possible to achieve that. The only thing you have to change in your code is the name of the radio button because all radio buttons with the same name are assumed to be a group, and the web-browser only allows selection of only one of them by default, and you cannot control that.
Therefore change the name to regroup the radio buttons into two different sets.
Then you can do this:
$("[id^='search_by_range']").change(function(){
$("[id='"+$(this).attr("id")+"']").prop("checked", "checked");
});
Here is the JSFiddle demo
you can use javascript for this problem
here i can give you hint how can you can do !
$('#search_by_range_yes').attr('checked','checked');
$('#search_by_range_yes').addAttr('checked');
this would help :)
thanks
In same group radio buttons you can't check more than one. I used two different groups for this.
Find the below code:
<fieldset>
<input checked="checked" id="search_by_range_no" name="search_by_range" type="radio" value="no">
<input class="input-long" id="size10" name="size10" type="text" value="27">
<br>
<input id="search_by_range_yes" name="search_by_range" type="radio" value="yes">
<input class="input-long" id="size1" name="size1" type="text" value="15 - 150">
<br>
<input checked="checked" id="search_by_range_no" name="search_by_range_second" type="radio" value="no">
<input class="input-long" id="size20" name="size20" type="text" value="65">
<br>
<input id="search_by_range_yes" name="search_by_range_second" type="radio" value="yes">
<input class="input-long" id="size2" name="size2" type="text" value="25 - 250">
<br>
</fieldset>
JS Code:
$(function() {
$(":radio").on("change", function() {
var val = $(this).val(), checked = this.checked;
var others = $(":radio[value='"+val+"']").not(this);
others.prop('checked', true);
});
});
You can find the working demo here: http://jsfiddle.net/26g5rxs6/
1.i understand your problem these happens because all radio button has same name.
2.Same name radio button has one group and select only in that group.
3.You can group radio button by 1. search by no 2. search by range. i updated your code by following code.
<fieldset>
<input checked="checked" id="search_by_range_no" name="search_by_no" type="radio" value="no">
<input class="input-long" id="size10" name="size10" type="text" value="27">

<input id="search_by_range_yes" name="search_by_range" type="radio" value="yes">
<input class="input-long" id="size1" name="size1" type="text" value="15 - 150">
<br>
<input checked="checked" id="search_by_range_no" name="search_by_no" type="radio" value="no">
<input class="input-long" id="size20" name="size20" type="text" value="65">

<input id="search_by_range_yes" name="search_by_range" type="radio" value="yes">

I have a few radio buttons, and when I select one of them, I also have to check another one.
For example, if I select yes on a radio button, another radio button must be automatically checked with no.
I tried a few scripts but don't seem to work.
Does anyone know a solution? I'm new in JS.
Thanks in advance!

<!--HTML-->
<input type="radio" name="group_1" value="yes" id="r1">Yes<br>
<input type="radio" name="group_1" value="no" id="r2">No<br>
<br>
<input type="radio" name="group_2" value="yes" id="r3">Yes<br>
<input type="radio" name="group_2" value="no" id="r4">No<br>
//Script
$("input[name='group_1']").click(function(){
if(this.value=="yes"){
$("input#r4").attr("checked",true);
}else{
$("input#r3").attr("checked",true);
}
});
$("input[name='group_2']").click(function(){
if(this.value=="yes"){
$("input#r2").attr("checked",true);
}else{
$("input#r1").attr("checked",true);
}
});
I'm not very certain on what you are trying to achieve but by using the "name" attribute this automatically happens...when you check one radio...the others with the same name get set to unchecked.
<input type="radio" name="someoption" value="0" />0
<input type="radio" name="someoption" value="1" />1
<input type="radio" name="someoption" value="2" />2
checking any one of the above will cause the other 2 to be unchecked
unless do you may be mean checkboxes or multiple option sets ?
javascript:
$('#myradio1').bind('change', function () {
$('#myradio3').attr('checked', 'checked');
});
html
<input type="radio" name="cols1" value="1" id="myradio1" />
<input type="radio" name="cols1" value="2" id="myradio2" />
<input type="radio" name="cols2" value="1" id="myradio3" />
<input type="radio" name="cols2" value="2" id="myradio4" />
see working example at http://jsfiddle.net/9jXbv/
For HTML markup like below:
<div>
<input type="radio" name="one" value="yes"> yes
<input type="radio" name="one" value="no"> no
</div>
<div>
<input type="radio" name="two" value="yes"> yes
<input type="radio" name="two" value="no"> no
</div>
you can use this JavaScript code:
$(":radio").on("change", function() {
var that = this;
$(":radio").filter(function() {
return this.value == "no" && this.name != that.name;
}).prop("checked", true);
});
DEMO: http://jsfiddle.net/nKLMX/
With jquery:
$("#radio1").change(function() {
$("#radio2").removeAttr("checked");
});
http://jsfiddle.net/
I've mocked up a pure JS solution to this ( No libraries )
<input type="radio" name="g1" value="1" />Yes
<br />
<input type="radio" name="g1" value="0" />No
<br /><br />
<input type="radio" name="g2" value="1" />Yes
<br />
<input type="radio" name="g2" value="0" />No
<script type="text/javascript">
var g1 = document.getElementsByName('g1'); // store g1 elements
var g2 = document.getElementsByName('g2'); // store g2 elements
// handle click functionality
function radio_checked_event(obj, f) {
if(obj.addEventListener) {
obj.addEventListener('click', f, false);
} else if(obj.attachEvent) {
obj.attachEvent('onclick', f);
}
}
// when you click on g1 yes
radio_checked_event(g1[0], function() {
//set g1 no to checked
g2[1].setAttribute('checked', 'checked');
});
</script>
