I am searching for a library that would help me create cross-platform compatible range inputs. I know that there is a css-only possibility, but in this case I'd rather depend on JS solution (for backwards compatibility). Do you now of a solution which I could use?
Thanks in advance,
Chrisstar
try this Css script:
input[type=range] {
-webkit-appearance: none;
width: 100%;
background: transparent;
input[type=range]::-webkit-slider-thumb {
-webkit-appearance: none;
}
input[type=range]:focus {
outline: none; }
input[type=range]::-ms-track {
width: 100%;
cursor: pointer;
background: transparent;
border-color: transparent;
color: transparent;
}
This is my solution:
var rangeSlider = function(){
var slider = $('.range-slider'),
range = $('.range-slider__range'),
value = $('.range-slider__value');
slider.each(function(){
value.each(function(){
var value = $(this).prev().attr('value');
$(this).html(value);
});
range.on('input', function(){
$(this).next(value).html(this.value);
});
});
};
rangeSlider();

I made it with SCSS, which cannot be cmpiled on SO, so here is a link to my original precompiled version.
It's custom html & css based. The actions are being handled by js.

I created a jsfiddle showing a simple range slider, with a max range of 4.
What I'm trying to achieve is to animate the number in the output, so for example if you're currently at 1 and you choose 4, 1 will go down and fade out, while 4 will come from the top and fade in. On the other hand, if you choose a lower number, the opposite will happen.
Thanks ahead for your help!

I have a custom range I have styled and modified.
For each step there is a text value displayed underneath the range in a green box, and icons at the top of each step.
I would like to know, how can I change the background color of the icons when a step has been selected? I have added some additional javascript code that is not working properly.
For instance, on the first step, the group icon will be green, and when you select the next step the person will be green and the group will change to default grey, and so on and so forth...
Thank you.

One methos I use is using svg icons and implement the raw code. You can then manipulate this source with clases and style settings.
Look inside the svg source and finmd the path and rect tags.
document.getElementById("ranger").onchange = function(event) {
document.querySelector(".symbol.standard").style.fill = "rgb(" + event.target.value + ", 80, 160)";
}
svg {
width:200px;
.symbol.standard {
fill: #f00;
}
.symbol.other {
fill: rgb(80, 80, 160);
}
<input id="ranger" type='range' min="0" max="255">
<svg class="singleseat " xmlns="http://www.w3.org/2000/svg" viewBox="0 0 90.3 63.3"> <title>seat</title>
<rect class="symbol standard" x="16.7" width="57" height="49" rx="12" ry="12"></rect>

I am using the code below for range sliders on my website, everything alright but scrolling up/down while the mouse happens to be on a slider changes the value of the bar. This may cause unintended changes, and the users may not even notice that the value is changing, if he/she simply wants to scroll.
This problem happens only with Windows and Firefox (For example, Mac with Firefox acting different).
The code (credit for Sean Stopnik from codepen):
var rangeSlider = function(){
var slider = $('.range-slider'),
range = $('.range-slider__range'),
value = $('.range-slider__value');
slider.each(function(){
value.each(function(){

$(this).html(value);
});
range.on('input', function(){
$(this).next(value).html(this.value);
});

I tried to find a solution on MDN web docs, that page mentions nothing about mouse scrolling, and on that page, when I scroll while my mouse is on a slider, the page scrolls and the slider value doesn't change, as expected.
Is it possible to fix that?
Thank you.
What about this?
$(".range-slider").bind("mousewheel", function() {
return false;
});
That should stop the behavior. From there you could maybe look into bubbling if you want it to still scroll the page.
$(".range-slider").bind("wheel", function() {
$(".range-slider").blur();
});
Use the "wheel" event instead of mousewheel. Mousewheel does not work with firefox.
the .blur() will force document to lose focus on the input element and the scrolling will go back to scrolling the document.
i want to make a range slider with some design in it. I have no idea how to stylize the input. http://prntscr.com/ebyoev like this one
The thing i want to do is, i dont know how to implement the circles on the start and end of the range slider and how to stylize the current circle range
https://jsfiddle.net/agghvm9t/ this is the fiddle
This is how far i have come
<div class="range-slider">
<input class="range-slider__range" type="range" value="100" min="0" max="500">
</div>
This is my css

padding: 60px;
}
}
.range-slider {
margin: 60px 0 0 0%;
}
.range-slider {
width: 100%;
}
.range-slider__range {
-webkit-appearance: none;

THis is my jquery
var rangeSlider = function(){
var slider = $('.range-slider'),
range = $('.range-slider__range'),
value = $('.range-slider__value');
slider.each(function(){
value.each(function(){
var value = $(this).prev().attr('value');
$(this).html(value);
});
range.on('input', function(){
$(this).next(value).html(this.value);
});
});
};
rangeSlider();
I'd approach this with using pseudo elements. You can have one :before and one :after pseudo element and since you only need two - one at the beginning and one at the end, it might just work:
.range-slider {
position:relative;
}
.range-slider:before {
content: "";
position: absolute;
left: 0;
background-image: url("circle-image");
width: 25px;
height: 25px;
}
.range-slider:after {
content: "";
position: absolute;
right: 0;
background-image: url("circle-image");
width: 25px;
height: 25px;
}
To style the sliding circle, you can try something like this:
.range-slider__range::-webkit-slider-thumb {
-webkit-appearance: none;
appearance: none;
width: 36px;
height: 36px;
border-radius: 50%;
background: orange;
cursor: pointer;
-webkit-transition: background .15s ease-in-out;
transition: background .15s ease-in-out;
border: 1px solid orange;
box-shadow: inset 0 0 0 6px #fff;
}
