I'm looking for the mootools equivalent of the jquery way. I need to link a button click on clicking another button
$('#myButton').click(function(){
// execute some function
});
Is this what you want?
<script type="text/javascript">
function callNewClick()
{
document.getElementById('btnTwo').click();
}
function helloUser()
{
alert('Hello!');
}
</script>
<button id="btnFirst" onclick="callNewClick();"> ClickFirst </button>
<button id="btnTwo" onclick="helloUser();"> Hello </button>
For example, in your code:
$('#myButton').click(function(){
document.getElementById('yourBtnTwoId').click();
});

Hello i'm trying to add an event of click on a button when the user click a label,
its working fine but the user have to click on the label twice i need to make it work from the first click
this is my function :
(function($){
$('.next-on-click .forminator-checkbox-label').on('click', function() {
$('button.forminator-button.forminator-button-next').trigger('click');
});
})(jQuery);
<script src="https://cdnjs.cloudflare.com/ajax/libs/jquery/2.0.0/jquery.min.js"></script>
<lable class="next"> Next </lable>
<button class="check">Check</button>
<script>
$('.next').click(function() {
alert("Hi");
$('button.check').trigger('click');
});
</script>
example:
$('.next-on-click .forminator-checkbox-label').on('dblclick', function() {
$('button.forminator-button.forminator-button-next').trigger('click');
})
So why would you need JavaScript to handle the click? Adding an for attribute on a label will click the button.
$("#btn").on("click", function () {
console.log("clicked");
});
<script src="https://cdnjs.cloudflare.com/ajax/libs/jquery/3.3.1/jquery.min.js"></script>
<label for="btn">Label</label>
<button id="btn">Button</button>
I want to change the button's value with fading effect when i click on it. My code is:
html:
<button> some value </button>
script:
$(document).ready(function(){
$("#btn_1").click(function (){
$(this).prop('value', "new value!"); // line1
});
});
From another stackoverflow answer, I found that if i replace line1 with $(this).find('span').html('Collapse').hide().fadeIn('slow');
and change the html part to <button> <span> some value </span> </button> it works. However, is there a way to achieve the transition effect using jquery without using span tags ?
Do you want something like this?
just use $(this).text('new value!').hide().fadeIn('slow');
$(document).ready(function() {
$("#btn_1").click(function() {
$(this).text('new value!').hide().fadeIn('slow');
});
});
<script src="https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/2.1.1/jquery.min.js"></script>
<button id="btn_1"> some value </button>
You can set text property of button. and you can fadeOut and fadeIn
$(document).ready(function(){
$("#btn_1").click(function (){
$(this).text("You Clicked").fadeOut().fadeIn();
});
});
<script src="https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/2.1.1/jquery.min.js"></script>
<button id="btn_1">Click HERE</button>
I have these buttons:
<button class="btn" id="empty">Empty Cart</button>
<button class="btn" id="submit">Add to Cart</button>
And this in a $(document).ready block in the head:
$("#empty").click(function() {
alert("I give up");
});
$("#submit").click(function() {
// ...
});
Why does #submit work and #empty does not?
It seems there are no problems here! I put it in this code snippet. So if any other problem is here notice me.
$("#empty").click(function() {
alert("I give up");
});
$("#submit").click(function() {
alert("I am submit");
});
<script src="https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/2.1.1/jquery.min.js"></script>
<button class="btn" id="empty">Empty Cart</button>
<button class="btn" id="submit">Add to Cart</button>
The main reason may prevent to call click is with dynamic elements. In this case, you should use:
$(document).on('click', '#empty', function() {
alert("I give up");
});
I have a button like so:
<button data-id="1" onclick="showID()">Show ID</button>
And a function:
<script>
function showID() {
alert(($(this).data("id")));
}
</script>
I just want the data-id to be shown in the alert box. I've also tried
alert(($(this).data("id")));
But again nothing...
$(this) inside your click function indicates to either global in sloppy mode or undefined in strict mode.
You need to do like this:
<button data-id="1" onclick="showID(this)">Show ID</button>
<script>
function showID(elem) {
alert(($(elem).data("id")));
}
</script>
Try this
function showID(button) {
alert($(button).attr('data-id'));
}
<script src="https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.9.1/jquery.min.js"></script>
<button data-id="1" onclick="showID(this)">Show ID</button>
Currently this will not give you the right value, your code should be this way:
<button data-id="1" onclick="showID(this)">Show ID</button>
Then
<script>
function showID(e) {
alert(($(e).data("id")));
}
</script>
this doesn't work the way you are trying.
pass this on click.
Check out this fiddle.
Here is the snippet.
function showID(ele) {
alert(($(ele).attr("data-id")));
}
<script src="https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/2.1.1/jquery.min.js"></script>
<button data-id="1" onclick="showID(this)">Show ID</button>
Here there is an example, you have to pass the id to function in the button tag:
JavaScript - onClick to get the ID of the clicked button
If i have a button, can I attach an action to it to perform server side processing, or does it have to be wrapped in a form?
For example
<button type="submit" onClick="listco_directory_contents.js"> List </button>
Can this be made to work, or is a form required?
You can't have a type="submit" if it's not in a form, there is nothing to submit. What you can do, is having a <button id="myButton">, then attach an event to it:
var myButton = document.selectElementById('myButton');
myButton.addEventListener('click', function() {
/* do something cool */
}, false);
And the "do something cool" could be an Ajax request so you send data to the server.
You can yes but if your aiming to do server side processes i recommend the jquery way.
<!--this button uses javascript-->
<input type="button" onclick="myfunction()" value="button"/>
<!--this button uses jquery-->
<input type="button" id="myfunction" value="button"/>
<script>
//javascript function using the onclick event
function myfunction(){
alert("an action");
// or any other function u wish to
// do once the button is click
}
//jquery using the id of the button
$(document).ready(function(){
$("#myfunction").click(function(){
alert("another action");
// or any other function u wish to
// do once the button is click
});
});
</script>
You could also just include the js:
<script type="text/javascript" src="listco_directory_contents.js"></script>
and then call whatever function you need from there:
<button onClick="exampleFunction()"> List </button>
Or in case you want to do server side processing with php you can do simply:
<button onClick="$.post('http://example.com/index.php');"> List </button>
$(function(){
$(':submit').on('click',function(){
alert('hi');
})
})
also can be type=submit
$(function(){
$('input[type="submit"]').on('click',function(){
alert('hi');
})
})
