image switch with pure javascript - javascript

so i'm trying to do a mouseover with just javascript so that the image doesn't really show up for seo i set it up in html first to get the css right and am making everything appear with document.write so it can be generated with javascript (my js knowledge is way limited). so with html i am making things with
<img src="img/brokenarrowwear-googleplus.png" onmouseover="this.src='img/brokenarrowwear-google-circle.png';" onmouseout="this.src='img/brokenarrowwear-googleplus.png';"/>
but since it uses "" and '' it doesn't really work. I tried doing it as
document.write(' <img src="img/brokenarrowwear-googleplus.png" onmouseover="this.src=' + 'img/brokenarrowwear-google-circle.png' + ';" onmouseout="this.src=' + 'img/brokenarrowwear-googleplus.png' + ';"/> ')
but that didn't really work either. does anyone know how i can do pure javascript? I found
$("img.image-1").mouseenter(function () {
$(this).replaceWith($('<img src="~/Content/images/prosecutor_tile_b.jpg">'));
});
but I don't think it will work.

Maybe this can help:
<img id="mypic" src="img/brokenarrowwear-googleplus.png" onmouseover='pictureChange(true)' onmouseout='pictureChange(false)'>
The function pictureChange:
function pictureChange(change){
If(change==true){
document.getElementById("mypic").src="img/brokenarrowwear-googleplus.png";
}else{
document.getElementById("mypic").src="img/brokenarrowwear-google-circle.png";
}
}

Simple inline pure Javascript solution:
<script>
document.write("<img src=\"http://placehold.it/150x150?text=image1\" onmouseover=\"this.src='http://placehold.it/150x150?text=image2'\" onmouseout=\"this.src='http://placehold.it/150x150?text=image1'\" />");
</script>
The text says "image1" and on mouseover the text in the image will say "image2"

The problem is not the script. I see it in the script source, but I'm not seeing it in the rendered html, actually the whole img tag is missing. Meaning You have some type of rendering issue or another script removed it.
Let's see if it's related to the inline javascript and escaping with backslashes doesn't work: remove the onmouseover and onmouseout attributes from the google img, give it an id="googlelogo" and add the following script at the end of your body:
<script>
document.getElementById("googlelogo").onmouseover = function() {
this.src = "img/brokenarrowwear-google-circle.png";
}
document.getElementById("googlelogo") .onmouseout = function() {
this.src = "img/brokenarrowwear-googleplus.png";
}
</script>

JS onclick image redirect to same image html

I'm not really sure how to explain this, but what I'm trying to do is: when you click a certain image on the page, have it redirect you to another page, where there's basically the same picture, only the page/link is a html one, not only the path to the image, like this: "file:///C:/Users/x/Desktop/report/img/3.jpg".
The code I've seen around is this:
img.onclick = function(event) {
window.location.href = this.src + '.html';
}
Everything is generated from JS, so I have no HTML code hard coded.
The above code works if I scratch the '.html' part, but like I've said earlier, it only redirects me to the jpg, or, if I leave the '.html' bit in too, it just goes like this "file:///C:/Users/x/Desktop/report/.html" and nothing shows up.
What I'd like to have is a new html page so I can later add other things/info around my image.
I'm new to programming so I am not really sure how/ if this is possible. Any help is appreciated, thanks!
You first have an img tag with the onClick property as follows:
<div class="col-12 col-md-4 col-lg-3">
<img onclick="GetImage(#ImageAddress)"/>
</div>
Then write script :
<script>
function GetImage(imageAddress) {
window.open(imageAddress);
}
</script>

My code executed only in console but not working in .js file

I have tried the following code to replace text character to the img tag inside div message.
However the code is working fine while i do in console. But when I try the same in my sticker.js is not working. Can anyone tell me the reason?
The idea to make sticker box for chat app codded with Javascript and jQuery.
User 1 will send :sticker1: to public room and replaced with img src inside the #div
Now I'm trying document to call the script when div is showing but still not working.
$(document).ready(function() is not working
And $(function() is not working either.
My chat app using template folder /template/*.php and web-cache folder to load the design. I am searching every where to find some solution but no luck.
I need help please
$("#chat-sticker-container").ready(function stickers() {
var emoCodes = [
':sticker1:',
];
var $this = $("body");
emoCodes.forEach(function(code) {
var image = '<img src="https://sevendays.co.in/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/' + code.replace(/:/g, "") + '.jpg">';
$this.find('p.chat-sticker').html(function(index, html) {
return html.replace(new RegExp(code, "g"), image);
});
});
});
<script src="https://cdnjs.cloudflare.com/ajax/libs/jquery/3.3.1/jquery.min.js"></script>
<script src="js/sticker.js"></script>
<dive id="chat-sticker-container">
<p id="chat-sticker" class="chat-sticker">:sticker1:</p>
</dive>
Make sure your JS is executing AFTER the html is in the DOM, this includes putting your script at the end of your body tag.
Since the script is called before the html is defined its essentially working with nothing, putting the after the html should fix the issues.
By looking at your JSFiddle example I think you need to use the MutationObserver API. This way you can check if an element, or the children of an element have been changed, added or removed.
I'm not able to figure out what the container is where the chat divs are added to the page, so I can only instruct you. But based on your fiddle I'm selecting the chat-main-scroll-chatroom div.
// List of emoCodes
var emoCodes = [
':sticker1:',
];
// Select chat container. Change if necessary.
var chatContainer = document.getElementById('chat-main-scroll-chatroom');
// Create a new observer.
var observer = new MutationObserver(function(entries) {
// Check for emocodes whenever something has changed.
emoCodes.forEach(function(code) {
var image = '<img src="https://sevendays.co.in/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/' + code.replace(/:/g, "") + '.jpg">';
$('p.chat-sticker').html(function(index, html) {
return html.replace(new RegExp(code, "g"), image);
});
});
});
// Check if children are changed
var options = { childList: true }
// Observer the chat container and check if itself or children are changing.
observer.observe(chatContainer, options);
So I really hope that this will help you out. In the best case scenario you would be able to filter the text that has been sent before the message is sent. If the API of your chat app provides such controls, then please use them.
Best of luck!

How to load javascript src file into new tab [duplicate]

I'm having problems getting this to work. I first tried setting my script tags as strings and then using jquery replaceWith() to add them to the document after page load:
var a = '<script type="text/javascript">some script here</script>';
$('#someelement').replaceWith(a);
But I got string literal errors on that var. I then tried encoding the string like:
var a = '&left;script type="text/javascript">some script here<\/script>';
but sending that to replaceWith() outputs just that string to the browser.
Can someone please let me know how you would go about dynamically adding a <script> tag into the browser after page load, ideally via jQuery?
You can put the script into a separate file, then use $.getScript to load and run it.
Example:
$.getScript("test.js", function(){
alert("Running test.js");
});
Try the following:
<script type="text/javascript">
// Use any event to append the code
$(document).ready(function()
{
var s = document.createElement("script");
s.type = "text/javascript";
s.src = "http://scriptlocation/das.js";
// Use any selector
$("head").append(s);
});
http://api.jquery.com/append
Here's the correct way to do it with modern (2014) JQuery:
$(function () {
$('<script>')
.attr('type', 'text/javascript')
.text('some script here')
.appendTo('head');
})
or if you really want to replace a div you could do:
$(function () {
$('<script>')
.attr('type', 'text/javascript')
.text('some script here')
.replaceAll('#someelement');
});
A simpler way is:
$('head').append('<script type="text/javascript" src="your.js"></script>');
You can also use this form to load css.
This answer is technically similar or equal to what jcoffland answered.
I just added a query to detect if a script is already present or not.
I need this because I work in an intranet website with a couple of modules, of which some are sharing scripts or bring their own, but these scripts do not need to be loaded everytime again. I am using this snippet since more than a year in production environment, it works like a charme. Commenting to myself: Yes I know, it would be more correct to ask if a function exists... :-)
if (!$('head > script[src="js/jquery.searchable.min.js"]').length) {
$('head').append($('<script />').attr('src','js/jquery.searchable.min.js'));
}
Here is a much clearer way — no need for jQuery — which adds a script as the last child of <body>:
document.body.innerHTML +='<script src="mycdn.js"><\/script>'
But if you want to add and load scripts use Rocket Hazmat's method.
Example:
var a = '<script type="text/javascript">some script here</script>';
$('#someelement').replaceWith(a);
It should work. I tried it; same outcome. But when I used this:
var length = 1;
var html = "";
for (var i = 0; i < length; i++) {
html += '<div id="codeSnippet"></div>';
html += '<script type="text/javascript">';
html += 'your script here';
html += '</script>';
}
$('#someElement').replaceWith(a);
This worked for me.
Edit: I forgot the #someelement (btw I might want to use #someElement because of conventions)
The most important thing here is the += so the html is added and not replaced.
Leave a comment if it didn't work. I'd like to help you out!
There is one workaround that sounds more like a hack and I agree it's not the most elegant way of doing it, but works 100%:
Say your AJAX response is something like
<b>some html</b>
<script>alert("and some javscript")
Note that I've skipped the closing tag on purpose. Then in the script that loads the above, do the following:
$.ajax({
url: "path/to/return/the-above-js+html.php",
success: function(newhtml){
newhtml += "<";
newhtml += "/script>";
$("head").append(newhtml);
}
});
Just don't ask me why :-) This is one of those things I've come to as a result of desperate almost random trials and fails.
I have no complete suggestions on how it works, but interestingly enough, it will NOT work if you append the closing tag in one line.
In times like these, I feel like I've successfully divided by zero.
If you are trying to run some dynamically generated JavaScript, you would be slightly better off by using eval. However, JavaScript is such a dynamic language that you really should not have a need for that.
If the script is static, then Rocket's getScript-suggestion is the way to go.

Print function only works after second click

I have this function to print a DIV.
Whenever the page is loaded and I click in a "Print" link I have, the DIV is shown to be printed without CSS.
If I close Chrome's print visualization page and click in the "Print" link again, the DIV has CSS applied.
Any ideas why?
Javascript
function printDiv(divId) {
var printDivCSSpre =
'<link href="/static/assets/vendor/sb-admin-2-1.0.7/bower_components/bootstrap/dist/css/bootstrap.min.css" rel="stylesheet">' +
'<link href="/static/assets/vendor/sb-admin-2-1.0.7/dist/css/sb-admin-2.css" rel="stylesheet">' +
'<div style="width:1000px; padding-right:20px;">';
var printDivCSSpost = '</div>';
$('body').append('<iframe id="print_frame" name="print_frame" width="0" height="0" frameborder="0" src="about:blank"></iframe>');
$("link").clone().appendTo($("#print_frame").contents().find("head"));
window.frames["print_frame"].document.body.innerHTML =
printDivCSSpre + document.getElementById(divId).innerHTML + printDivCSSpost;
window.frames["print_frame"].window.focus();
var windowInstance = window.frames["print_frame"].window;
windowInstance.print();
}
HTML
<a id="print" href="#">
<i class="fa fa-print"></i> Print
</a>
<script>
$('#print').click(function () {
printDiv('report')
})
</script>
<div id="report" class="report">
<p># Generated Table#</p>
</div>
First click:
http://imgur.com/a/Go81Y
Closing the print preview page and clicking again in print
http://imgur.com/a/SCxJF
This happens because when you call your printDiv() function, css is also written using inner HTML and in this scenario CSS is not applied during first click because you wrote CSS to the elements even when they do not exist inside DIV.
The function to work as desired has to write DIV contents first and then CSS should be applied. I would say write css after contents of DIV or load on top of your HTML page and just write DIV contents.
Hope that helps.
Every thing is right just change the sequence. In browser debugger on first click it didn't show 'print_frame' in sources section while in second click it does (I am using chrome devtool).
So load in memory frame with css attributes during onload:
var windowInstance;
$(function(){
$('body').append('<iframe id="print_frame" name="print_frame" width="0" height="0" frameborder="0" src="about:blank"></iframe>');
$("link").clone().appendTo($("#print_frame").contents().find("head"));
windowInstance = window.frames["print_frame"].window;
});
and onClick just append html
$('#print').click(function () {
var divId = 'report';
var printDivCSSpre ='<div id="printReportDiv" style="width:1000px; padding-right:20px;">';
var printDivCSSpost = '</div>';
window.frames["print_frame"].document.body.innerHTML = printDivCSSpre + document.getElementById(divId).innerHTML + printDivCSSpost;
window.frames["print_frame"].window.focus();
windowInstance.print();
});
updated jsfiddle
Try this one. The problem mainly arises because the css has not been applied to the page when the print command is initiated. setTimeout is one way to solve it as others have mentioned but it is really not possible to predict how much delay you will need. Slow internet connections will require high delays before you fire the print statement. The following code, however, only fires the print event after the css has been properly applied to the iframe.
$('#print').click(function () {
if($("#print_frame").length == 0) {
$('#report').after('<iframe id="print_frame" name="print_frame" width="0" height="0" frameborder="0" src="about:blank"></iframe>');
}
var $head = $("#print_frame").contents().find("head");
// for now for ease I will just empty head
// ideally you would want to check if this is not empty
// append css only if empty
$head.empty();
$.ajax({
url : "https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/7760475/reports.css",
dataType: "text",
success : function (reports) {
// grab css and apply its content to the iframe document
$head.append('<style>'+reports+'</style>');
$.ajax({
url : "https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/7760475/bootstrap.css",
dataType: "text",
success : function (bootstrap) {
// grab another css and apply its content to the iframe document
// there may be better ways to load both css files at once but this works fine too
$head.append('<style>'+bootstrap+'</style>');
// css has been applied
// clone your div and print
var $body = $("#print_frame").contents().find('body');
// empty for ease
// but later append content only if empty
$body.empty();
$("#report").clone().appendTo($body);
$('#print_frame').get(0).contentWindow.print();
}
});
}
});
});
Use inline CSS instead.
Reason: When we PRINT or save as PDF if fails to fetch external css Files, So we have to use Inline css.
edited your file please see: jsfiddle.net/ytzcwykz/18/
As other people mentioned it is hard to see your problem without seeing the working example of a problem, but just guessing from the code:
Browser is not able to load the CSS before your print() call.
Browser is not able to render the CSS before your print() call.
Keeping that in mind changing your JS function that way might do the trick
function printDiv(divId) {
$("link").clone().appendTo($("#print_frame").contents().find("head"));
window.frames["print_frame"].document.body.innerHTML =
printDivCSSpre + document.getElementById(divId).innerHTML + printDivCSSpost;
window.frames["print_frame"].window.focus();
var windowInstance = window.frames["print_frame"].window;
setTimeout(function() {
windowInstance.print();
}, 0);
}
The idea behind this function is to let browser execute it's code after we added changed the HTML/CSS code in the window - see Why is setTimeout(fn, 0) sometimes useful?
WARNING: this approach is not tested for your particular problem, and it might also not work because we escape/leave the mouse-click call-stack, calling print() method might be not possible out of user-interaction stack.
UPDATE: after looking in the posted jsfiddle - my assumption was correct, the browser needs some time to load and render the CSS, that is why calling the print() right after changing iframe contents doesn't give the desired result. There are 3.5 ways to solve that:
Use events to identify when iframe's document and window has finished loading and rendering. I tried two approaches, and failed so far, need to read docs more carefully about when document and window are behiving during the loading sequence:
we can do that from outside of iframe, i.e. listen to events of iframe element and it's children
we can do that from inside of iframe, i.e. add little javascript snippet inside which will send a message to the parent window when loading is done.
Consider forming the print result different, how about print style-sheets? I.e. add one more style sheet with print-media query to the parent doc and just call print on it?
Consider forming an iframe which is already loaded and ready to be printed, but replace just the table contents inside it.
As others mentioned, The problem here is that the CSS files used are external resources and browser takes time to download and cache it locally. Once it is cached, it would serve faster and that's why it works fine from the second click.
As Anton mentioned, setTimeout is the key here! You may probably increase the timeout seconds to make that work. I tried setting it to 500ms and that worked,
setTimeout(function(){windowInstance.print();},500);

IMG SRC tags and JavaScript

Is it possible to call a JavaScript function from the IMG SRC tag to get an image url?
Like this:
<IMG SRC="GetImage()" />
<script language="javascript">
function GetImage() {return "imageName/imagePath.jpg"}
</script>
This is using .NET 2.0.
Nope. It's not possible, at least not in all browsers. You can do something like this instead:
<img src="blank.png" id="image" alt="just nothing">
<script type="text/javascript">
document.getElementById('image').src = "yourpicture.png";
</script>
Your favourite JavaScript framework will provide nicer ways :)
If you're in the mood for hacks, this works as well.
<img src='blah' onerror="this.src='url to image'">
Is it possible to call a JavaScript function from the IMG SRC tag to get an image url?
Do you mean doing something like the following?
<img src="javascript:GetImage()" />
Unfortunately, no - you can't do that. However, you can do the following hack:
function getImageUrl(img) {
var imageSrc = "imageName/imagePath.jpg";
if(img.src != imageSrc) { // don't get stuck in an endless loop
img.src = imageSrc;
}
}
Then, have the following html:
<img src="http://yourdomain.com/images/empty.gif" onload="getImageUrl(this)" />
The onload event will only fire if you have an actual image set to the src attribute - if you don't set that attribute or set it to an empty string or something similar, you will get no love. Set it to a single pixel transparent gif or something similar.
Anyway, this hack works, but depending on what you are really trying to accomplish, this may not be the best solution. I don't know why you would want to do this, but maybe you have a good reason (that you would like to share with us!).
You cannot do it inline the image #src, but you should be able to call it from an inline script block immediately following your image:
<img src="" id="myImage"/>
<script type="text/javascript">
document.getElementById("myImage").src = GetImage();
</script>
you could dynamically feed the image by calling an aspx page in the SRC.
Ex;
<img src="provideImage.aspx?someparameter=x" />
On the page side, you`ll need to put the image in the response and change the content type for an image.
The only "problem" is that your images won't be indexed a you better put some cache on that provider page or you'll ravage the server.
Are you looking for this.src ?`
<img src='images/test.jpg' onmouseover="alert(this.src);">
Since you're using .NET, you could add the runat="server" attribute and set the src in your codebehind.
You might be able to do it on the server side. Alternately you could attach an onload event to swap the image src out. I guess the question then becomes, why would you have to use Javascript in the first pace?
I've had to do something like this before, and IIRC the trick winds up being that you can't change an src attribute of an image that's part of the DOM tree. So your best bet is to write your HTML skeleton without the image and 1)create an onLoad function that generates a new img element with document.createElement, 2) set the src attribute with setAttribute(), and 3) attach it to your DOM tree.
OnLoad event of image called again and again do some thing like this
how about this?
var imgsBlocks = new Array( '/1.png', '/2.png', '/3.png');
function getImageUrl(elemid) {
var ind = document.getElementById(elemid).selectedIndex;
document.getElementById("get_img").src=imgsBlocks[ind];
}
it's not work?
<img src="'+imgsBlocks[2]+'" id="get_img"/>
You may try this way also
