jQuery Out of Memory error for Ajax submission - javascript

The following code is generating an out of memory error. mdjm_dcf.packages_field is a select field. When I select an option both Safari and IE freeze for a period of time and within IE the console is returning SCRIPT7: Out of memory.
If I send an alert immediately after the on change event it works, but after clicking OK it freezes.
Appreciate any guidance...

Google Places API works in Chrome but not in Firefox

I use the Google Places API and when I change address it works perfectly in Chrome but doesn't always work in Mozilla Firefox.
I use jQuery, Bootstrap 4 and JS and Symfony 4 for the backend.

MySQL AJAX PHP Notification Module

Can anyone help me with this code? I would like to convert this async ajax to sync ajax. How do I do it? Here is the code that is written below. The system just lags when I leave it for 20 mins without even doing anything. So, maybe the problem is within the code.
function addmsg20(type, msg, data) {
$('#display20').html(data);
}
function waitForMsg20() {
$.ajax({
type: "GET",
url: "liprintednotif.php",
async: true,
cache: false,
timeout: 50000,
success: function(data) {
var data = JSON.parse(data);
if(data.data.length > 0){
var res = data.data;
var printed = "<ul class='menu'>";
$.each(res, function(k, v){
var empext = v.employee_ext;
if(empext == null){
empext = "";
}else{
empext = v.employee_ext;
}
printed += "<li>" +
"<a href='#'>" +
"<h4>" +
" "+v.employee_fname + " " +
v.employee_mname+" "+v.employee_lname+" " +empext+ "<small>" +
v.status_desc+ "</small>" +"</h4>" +
"<p>" + v.subj_name + "</p>" +
"</a></li>";
})
printed += "</ul>";
}else{
printed = "";
}
addmsg20("new", data.count, printed);
setTimeout(
waitForMsg20,
1000);
},
error: function(XMLHttpRequest, textStatus, errorThrown) {
addmsg20("error", textStatus + " (" + errorThrown + ")");
setTimeout(
waitForMsg20,
15000);
}
});
};
$(document).ready(function() {
waitForMsg20();
});
I am completely new to Javascript and/or AJAX so I really need help about this.
To make the AJAX call synchronous, just set async to false:
$.ajax({
type: "GET",
url: "liprintednotif.php",
async: false,
cache: false,
timeout: 50000,
.
.

How to use Delay for method execution in jquery

I am using jquery in my one of the form. where on click of submit button i call one function QuoteDetailValidation(). In which i validate fields. But after validate that fields i try to get all fields which have errorActive class. But unfortunately i can't get it.
See my code
$('#saveQuote').on('click', function(event) {
var descriptionData1 = $('input[name=\"QuoteDetail[description][]\"]');
QuoteDetailValidation(descriptionData1);
var selectors = document.querySelectorAll('#quote-quoteItems-form .errorActive').length;
alert(selectors);
return false;
});
function QuoteDetailValidation(descriptionData1) {
for (var i = 0; i < descriptionData1.length; i++) {
var id = descriptionData[i].id;
var value = descriptionData[i].value;
var costid = costData[i].id;
var costValue = costData[i].value;
$.ajax({
type: 'GET',
url: "<?php echo Yii::app()->createUrl('QuoteData/validatedata'); ?>",
data: 'descvalue=' + value + '&Descname=description&costValue=' + costValue + '&costName=cost&descId=' + id + '&costId=' + costid,
success: function(data) {
var obj = $.parseJSON(data);
var cost = obj.cost;
var desc = obj.desc;
if (desc != '' || cost != '') {
if (cost != '') {
$('#' + costid).addClass('errorActive');
$('#' + costid).prev().addClass('error');
$('#' + costid).next().remove();
$('#' + costid).after(cost);
$('#' + costid).parent().removeClass('success');
$('#' + costid).parent().addClass('error');
}
}
},
error: function(data) {
alert('Your data has not been submitted..Please try again');
}
});
}
}
Now What happens, When there is error QuoteDetailValidation() append errorActive class to fields.
By var selectors = document.querySelectorAll('#quote-quoteItems-form .errorActive').length; i try to get length of the fields which have errorActive class. but in alert of selectors, it always gives 0. But when i alert something before getting all errorActive Class then alert selectors give me perfect count. i think there is delay because of alert before getting class errorActive. so that it give me count. How to use it. Any help please. Thanks in advance.
You can determine the exact delay required for selectors to be initailized properly. Whatever we add as delay will be assumption and can be short for some scen
One options using below in your ajax request
async: false
like below:-
$.ajax({
type: 'GET',
async: false,
url: "<?php echo Yii::app()->createUrl('QuoteData/validatedata'); ?>",
data: 'descvalue=' + value + '&Descname=description&costValue=' + costValue + '&costName=cost&descId=' + id + '&costId=' + costid,
success: function(data) {}});
Setting async to false means that the statement you are calling has to complete before the next statement in your function can be called. If you set async: true(it is default) then that statement will begin it's execution and the next statement will be called regardless of whether the async statement has completed yet. Helpful question
But I still will advise you to move selectors part in success of ajax like below:-
$.ajax({
type: 'GET',
url: "<?php echo Yii::app()->createUrl('QuoteData/validatedata'); ?>",
data: 'descvalue=' + value + '&Descname=description&costValue=' + costValue + '&costName=cost&descId=' + id + '&costId=' + costid,
success: function(data) {
var obj = $.parseJSON(data);
var cost = obj.cost;
var desc = obj.desc;
if (desc != '' || cost != '') {
if (cost != '') {
$('#' + costid).addClass('errorActive');
$('#' + costid).prev().addClass('error');
$('#' + costid).next().remove();
$('#' + costid).after(cost);
$('#' + costid).parent().removeClass('success');
$('#' + costid).parent().addClass('error');
}
}
var selectors = document.querySelectorAll('#quote-quoteItems-form .errorActive').length;
alert(selectors);
//some logice here or move the above in some function and call it here
},
error: function(data) {
alert('Your data has not been submitted..Please try again');
}
});
or use call back functions.
Update: try something like below It will keep async as true and keep the count logic outside $.ajax.
function QuoteDetailValidation(descriptionData1,submitFormOrAddError) {
for (var i = 0; i < descriptionData1.length; i++) {
var id = descriptionData[i].id;
var value = descriptionData[i].value;
var costid = costData[i].id;
var costValue = costData[i].value;
$.ajax({
type: 'GET',
url: "<?php echo Yii::app()->createUrl('QuoteData/validatedata'); ?>",
data: 'descvalue=' + value + '&Descname=description&costValue=' + costValue + '&costName=cost&descId=' + id + '&costId=' + costid,
success: function(data) {
var obj = $.parseJSON(data);
var cost = obj.cost;
var desc = obj.desc;
if (desc != '' || cost != '') {
if (cost != '') {
$('#' + costid).addClass('errorActive');
$('#' + costid).prev().addClass('error');
$('#' + costid).next().remove();
$('#' + costid).after(cost);
$('#' + costid).parent().removeClass('success');
$('#' + costid).parent().addClass('error');
}
}
submitFormOrAddError(data);
},
error: function(data) {
alert('Your data has not been submitted..Please try again');
}
});
}
}
Call it like this:
$('#saveQuote').on('click', function(event) {
var descriptionData1 = $('input[name=\"QuoteDetail[description][]\"]');
QuoteDetailValidation(descriptionData1);
QuoteDetailValidation(descriptionData1,function(output){
// here you use the output
var selectors = document.querySelectorAll('#quote-quoteItems-form .errorActive').length; //This line is excuted only after call completes
alert(selectors);
//form submit here if error is zero.
});
alert("hii");//this line is executed without waiting for above call..
return false;
});
You need to do this on your success callback of the QuoteDetailValidation method, because the $.ajax runs async and after invoking the method it still hasn't completed.
$.ajax({
type: 'GET',
url: "<?php echo Yii::app()->createUrl('QuoteData/validatedata'); ?>",
data: 'descvalue=' + value + '&Descname=description&costValue=' + costValue + '&costName=cost&descId=' + id + '&costId=' + costid,
success: function(data) {
var obj = $.parseJSON(data);
var cost = obj.cost;
var desc = obj.desc;
if (desc != '' || cost != '') {
if (cost != '') {
$('#' + costid).addClass('errorActive');
$('#' + costid).prev().addClass('error');
$('#' + costid).next().remove();
$('#' + costid).after(cost);
$('#' + costid).parent().removeClass('success');
$('#' + costid).parent().addClass('error');
}
}
// Here you know that the elements will have the necessary classes.
var selectors = $('#quote-quoteItems-form .errorActive').length;
alert(selectors);
},
error: function(data) {
alert('Your data has not been submitted..Please try again');
}
});

.json not showing in Safari, jQuery plugin

I created a jQuery plugin that shows up in Chrome as expected, but in Safari, it is not loading the following URL so the badges are showing up: https://www.codeschool.com/users/audreyklammer.json
I think this is the issue. Any ideas on either what I should console.log or does anything stand out? I will do the work just would love your input.
Here is the full code on my GitHub but also pasted below:
https://github.com/Klammertime/Badge-Widget/blob/master/dist/js/jquery.insignia.js
;(function($) {
$(document).ready(function() {
var insigniaList = $('.insignia');
for(var i = 0; i < insigniaList.length; i++){
var insigniaEntry = insigniaList[i];
console.log(insigniaEntry);
$(insigniaEntry).insignia(insigniaEntry.dataset.treehouse, insigniaEntry.dataset.codeschool);
}
});
$.fn.insignia = function(usernameTreehouse, usernameCodeschool) {
this.empty();
if (usernameTreehouse) {
getBadges(usernameTreehouse, this);
}
if (usernameCodeschool) {
getBadges2(usernameCodeschool, this);
}
}
function getBadges(usernameTreehouse, element) {
$.ajax({
url: "http://teamtreehouse.com/" + usernameTreehouse + ".json",
type: "GET",
crossDomain: true,
dataType: "json",
async: true,
success: function(dataBack) {
var badges = dataBack.badges;
$(element).append("<h3>I have taken " + badges.length + " lessons and scored " + dataBack.points.total +
" points at Treehouse!</h3><div class=\"badges\"></div>");
badges.forEach(function(badge, i) {
if (i < 7) {
element.find(".badges").append("<li class=\"badgeImages\"> <img src=' " + badge.icon_url + " '/></li>");
}
});
},
error: function(dataBack) {
console.log("something went wrong.");
//this happen when call fails
}
});
}
function getBadges2(usernameCodeschool, element) {
$.ajax({
url: "https://www.codeschool.com/users/" + usernameCodeschool + ".json",
type: "GET",
crossDomain: true,
dataType: "jsonp",
async: true,
success: function(dataBack) {
console.log(dataBack);
$(element).append("<h3>I have taken " + dataBack.badges.length + " lessons and scored " + dataBack.user.total_score +
" points at Codeschool!</h3><div class=\"badges2\"></div>");
var badge = dataBack.badges;
console.log(badge);
badge.forEach(function(badge, i) {
if (i < 7) {
element.find(".badges2").append("<li class=\"badgeImages\"> <img src=' " + badge.badge + " '/></li>");
}
});
},
error: function(dataBack) {
console.log("something went wrong.");
//this happen when call fails
}
});
}
}(jQuery));

problem ajax load with autocomplete.?

i created a jquery autocomplete it work true, but loading LOADING... it after removed value by Backspace don't work true. it not hide and Still is show.
how can after removed value by Backspace, hide LOADING... ?
EXAMPLE: Please click on link and see problem
my full code:
$(document).ready(function () {
/// LOADING... ///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
$('#loadingDiv')
.hide() // hide it initially
.ajaxStart(function() {
$(this).show();
})
.ajaxStop(function() {
$(this).hide();
});
/// autocomplete /////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
$('.auto_complete').keyup(function () {
var specific = '.' + $(this).closest('div.auto_box').find('b').attr('class');
var cl_list = '.' + $(this).closest('div.auto_box').find('ul').attr('class');
var id = '#' + this.id;
var url = $(id).attr('class');
var dataObj = $(this).closest('form').serialize();
$.ajax({
type: "POST",
dataType: 'json',
url: url,
data: dataObj,
cache: false,
success: function (data) {
//alert(url)
var cl_list = '.' + $('.auto_box '+ specific +' ul').attr('class');
var id_name = $(cl_list).attr('id');
$(cl_list).show().html('');
if (data == 0) {
$(cl_list).show().html('<p><b>There is no</b></p>');
}
else {
$.each(data, function (a, b) {
//alert(b.name)
$('<p id="' + b.name + '">' + b.name + '</p>').appendTo(cl_list);
});
$(cl_list + ' p').click(function (e) {
e.preventDefault();
var ac = $(this).attr('id');
$('<b>' + ac + '، <input type="text" name="'+id_name+'[]" value="' + ac + '" style="border: none; display: none;" /></b>').appendTo($('.auto_box ' + specific + ' span'));
$(this).remove();
return false;
});
$('.auto_box span b').live('click', function (e) {
e.preventDefault();
$(this).remove();
return false;
});
}
if ($(specific + ' input').val() == '') {
$(cl_list + " p").hide().remove();
$(cl_list).css('display','none');
$(".list_name").show().html('');
};
$('body').click(function () {
$(cl_list + " p").hide().remove();
$('.auto_complete').val('');
$(cl_list).show().html('');
$(cl_list).css('display','none')
});
},
"error": function (x, y, z) {
// callback to run if an error occurs
alert("An error has occured:\n" + x + "\n" + y + "\n" + z);
}
});
});
});
I recommend you to use jsfiddle next time you post code examples in a link.
Nevermind. The "loading" message keeps there because there's no fallback to empty values on results.
A quick fix could be just by test that there's a value in the input before making any post like if(this.value == ""){
$(cl_list).css('display', 'none');
return false;
}
Here's how it works with it
