Using .load() to add HTML form have some issues - javascript

i am creating login web app using ajax and PHP and i use javascript an php to validate the input and it works for the login form,but i added a link under the form if not signed up before the link under form
and the HTML for it is :
don't have account on tobe?
and the signUpForm() function contain
function signUpForm(){
$(".logInForm").load("SignUpForm.html");
}
and it works the content change
but when i use JS to validate input using code (just like the login code witch is working) :
HTML(the input in the SignUpForm.html calls the signUp() function)
<input type="button" value="Sign Up" onclick="signUp()">
function signUp(){
if($("input[class='user']").val()==""|| $("input[class='pass']").val()==""){
$(".error-message").fadeIn();
document.getElementById("error-message").innerHTML="Please fill all fields";
} else{
//action(2) including the php file loading
}
}
what happen is javascript ignores the new input fields and consider that the are deleted and always go to action(2) how can i make js see the new form html?

Assuming I understand your problem correctly, I think this code should help you get on the right footing (http://codepen.io/trevorhreed/pen/bppxRG?editors=1010).
In this example, I'm using $(...).html(...) instead of $(...).load(...) since I don't have a server hosting HTML files, but it should work fine to swap .html(...) out for .load(...).
console.clear();
$(function(){
var placeholder = $('#placeholder'),
signInTpl = $('#signin').html(),
signUpTpl = $('#signup').html();
function goToSignIn(){
placeholder.html(signInTpl);
// or placeholder.load('signin.html');
var btnSignIn = $('#btnSignIn'),
signInUsername = $('#signinUsername'),
signInPassword = $('#signinPassword');
btnSignIn.on('click', function(){
if(signInUsername.val() == '' || signInPassword.val() == ''){
alert('Sign In form is NOT valid');
}else{
alert('Sign In form is valid');
}
})
}
function goToSignUp(){
placeholder.html(signUpTpl);
// or placeholder.load('signup.html');
var btnSignUp = $('#btnSignUp'),
signUpUsername = $('#signupUsername'),
signUpPassword = $('#signupPassword');
btnSignUp.on('click', function(){
if(signUpUsername.val() == '' || signUpPassword.val() == ''){
alert('Sign Up form is NOT valid');
}else{
alert('Sign Up form is valid');
}
})
}
goToSignIn();
$('#btnGoToSignUp').on('click', function(){
goToSignUp();
})
})
<script src="https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/2.1.1/jquery.min.js"></script>
<div id="placeholder"></div>
<template id="signin">
<h2>Sign In</h2>
<form method="post">
<label>
Username
<input id="signinUsername" />
</label>
<label>
Password
<input id="signinPassword" />
</label>
Sign Up
<button type="button" id="btnSignIn">Sign In</button>
</form>
</template>
<template id="signup">
<h2>Sign Up</h2>
<form method="post">
<label>
Username
<input id="signupUsername" />
</label>
<label>
Password
<input id="signupPassword" />
</label>
<button type="button" id="btnSignUp">Sign In</button>
</form>

How do i make a js code that redirects to a certain html page with a certain input?

let me explain this better, i would like to know how it's possible to create a js code that checks if an html input is correct and in case it is it redirects you to another page, here is what i tried based on what i managed to find out.
html part:
<form name="access" onsubmit="return validate()">
<input
type="text"
id="inputbox"
value="Password"
pattern="idkwhatishoouldwriteinhere"
/>
<input type="submit" value="Submit" />
</form>
js part:
function validate() {
if (document.access.Password.value != "idkwhatishoouldwriteinhere") {
alert("Wrong password");
document.access.Password.focus();
return false;
} else {
window.open("index.html");
}
}
in case you are wondering why i put the "answer" in the patter is because this is supposed to be a little easter egg and i feel like looking directly at the js is meaningless becuase it contains the link you should be redirected to.
enter code here
You need to give your input the name Password, otherwise document.access.Password is undefined.
function validate() {
if (document.access.Password.value != "idkwhatishoouldwriteinhere") {
alert("Wrong password");
document.access.Password.focus();
return false;
} else {
window.open("index.html")
}
}
<form name="access" onsubmit="return validate()">
<input type="text" id="inputbox" value="Password" name="Password" />
<input type="submit" value="Submit" />
</form>
<!-- password is "idkwhatishoouldwriteinhere" -->
You want this.
You had some issues with the id of the field and name etc
I also changed your inline code to eventListener which is the recommended method
Password is fred
window.addEventListener("load", function() {
document.getElementById("access").addEventListener("submit", function(e) {
const inputbox = document.getElementById("inputbox");
if (inputbox.value != "fred") {
alert("Wrong password");
inputbox.focus();
e.preventDefault(); // cancel submit
} else location.replace("index.html")
});
})
<form id="access">
<input type="password" id="inputbox" value="" placeholder="Password" />
<input type="submit" value="Submit" />
</form>
If you want to keep your code close to what you already have, I would adjust it like this. I would suggest storing your class names and ids as variables and then accessing them from the variable. Also there is no need to return false in your if. There are other good solutions on here but this one will keep your code pretty close. This will also ensure that you don't end up with a null value when accessing the value in your password field.
const passwordField = document.getElementById('inputbox');
function validate() {
if(passwordField.value != "idkwhatishoouldwriteinhere") {
alert( "Wrong password" );
passwordField.focus() ;
}
else {
window.open("index.html")
}
}
<form name="access" onsubmit="validate()" href="javascript:void(0)">
<input type="text" id="inputbox" value="Password" />
<input type="submit" value="Submit" />
</form>

Two button submit form issue

Hi successfully made a form where there are two submit buttons.
I needed two buttons because I need each button to take the form to a different place, while get/post the information in the first form.
This is how I did it
Javascript:
function submitForm(action) {
var form = document.getElementById('form1');
form.action = action;
form.submit();
}
<form id="form1" method="post" >
<div class="f-row">
<label for="pick">Pick-Up Address</label>
<input type="text" input name="pick" required value="<?php echo isset($_POST['pick']) ? $_POST['pick'] : ''; ?>"/>
</div>
<input type="button" onclick="submitForm('page2.php')" class="btn small color left" value="ADD ANOTHER STOP" />
<input type="button" onclick="submitForm('page3.php')" class="btn medium color right" value="Continue" />
</form>
It works, both buttons submits to the relevant pages.
But now there is one problem I can't seem to fix, previously if the form was not filled, and i clicked submit, it would ask me to fill up the required fields, now it does not anymore.
If required fields are not filled up, it still submits the form.
I need button 1 to not require required fields to be filled up, and button 2 to require it as button 2 submits the form, while button 1 brings it to a new form to fill up with other details before they submit from there.
Anyone know of a way I can sort this?
You can try this: <input type="text" name="pick" id="pick" required/> and in the javascript
function submitForm(action) {
var form = document.getElementById('form1');
form.action = action;
if (document.getElementById('pick').value) {
form.submit();
}}
else{
alert('Please fill the required field!');}
You just need to use jquery to validate the form when the first button is clicked and you can use formaction attribute on the button to specify where the button should go when it's clicked.
$('document').ready(function(){
$('#btn1').on('click',function(){
var pick = $('input[type="text"][name="pick"]').val();
if(pick == ""){
alert("enter pick");
return false;
}else{
$(this).submit();
}
});
});
<script src="https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/2.1.1/jquery.min.js"></script>
<form id="form1" method="post" >
<div class="f-row">
<label for="pick">Pick-Up Address</label>
<input type="text" name="pick" value="your value">
</div>
<button type="submit" formaction="page2.php" class="btn small color left" id="btn1">ADD ANOTHER STOP</button>
<button type="submit" formaction="page3.php" class="btn medium color right">Continue</button>
</form>
You could use jQuery for this.
if ($('#something').length)
This will check if there exist an element with the id 'something', but not if it is empty or which value it has.
To check this you can use:
if($('#something').val().length>0)
or
if($('#something').val() != "")
Do with it what ever is needed.
You could even add this check within your submitForm function just above the current code.
Try this:
<script>
function submitForm(action) {
var a = $("input[name=pick]").val();
if(a) {
var form = document.getElementById('form1');
form.action = action;
form.submit();
} else {
alert('please fill the required field');
return false;
}
}
</script>
Using this way(simple way):--
<form id="myForm" name="myForm" onSubmit="encriptar_rc4();return false;">
<input type="submit" name="submitOne" value="submitOne" class="submitButton" />
<input type="submit" name="submitTwo" value="submitTwo" class="submitButton" />
</form>
<script>
$(function(){
$(".submitButton").click(function(e){
alert($(this).attr("name"));
});
encriptar_rc4();{
alert('hola');
}
});
</script>

How to verify the elements of a form in Javascript then Move to a PHP page?

I want to verify the inputs by javascrpit function perform() and move to a php page named i.php to save the datas in the databasse.
Here is the code:
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
<head>
<title></title>
</head>
<body>
<form action="i.php" method="post">
<br>
Name <input type="text" name="name" id="name" >
<span id="err"></span>
</br>
<br>
Password <input type="Password" name="Password" id="password">
<span id="perr"></span>
</br>
<br>
Gender
<input type="radio" name="gender" id="gender" value="male">Male
<input type="radio" name="gender" id="gender" value="female">Female
</br>
<br>
Department <select name="department" id="department">
<option>------</option>
<option>ECE</option>
<option>BBA</option>
<option>ENG</option>
</select>
</br>
<br>
<button name="btn" type="button" id="btn" onclick="perform()" >Button</button>
<input type="submit" name="submit" value="Submit">
<input type="reset" name="reset" value="Clear">
</br>
</form>
<script type="text/javascript">
function perform()
{
var name = document.getElementById('name').value;
var pass = document.getElementById('password').value;
var dept = document.getElementById('department').value;
var gender = document.getElementsByName('gender');
var r =3;
if (name.length==0)
{
document.getElementById('err').innerHTML = "name not found";
r++;
}
if (pass.length<=6 || pass.length>=32 )
{
document.getElementById('perr').innerHTML = "password error";
r++;
}
if(r==3)
{
window.location= "i.php";
}
}
</script>
</body>
</html>*
In i.php page i used var_dump to see the datas whether it has been submitted or not. code of the i.php page:
<!Doctype html>
<html>
<head></head>
<body>
<?php
var_dump($_POST);
?>
</body>
</html>
But its showing arry(0) {}
looks like there nothing that has been submitted.
The issue is that you're redirecting with javascript, and losing the entire form and it's data by doing so.
When the form is valid, submit it rather than redirecting
function perform() {
var _name = document.getElementById('name').value;
var pass = document.getElementById('password').value;
var dept = document.getElementById('department').value;
var gender = document.getElementsByName('gender');
var valid = true;
if (_name.length === 0) {
document.getElementById('err').innerHTML = "name not found";
valid = false;
}
if (pass.length <= 6 || pass.length >= 32) {
document.getElementById('perr').innerHTML = "password error";
valid = false;
}
if (valid) {
document.querySelector('form').submit();
}
}
Note that name is not a good name for variables or form elements, as it already exists in window.name, and that a submit button can not be named submit as it overwrites the named form.submit() function
Another option would be to just remove all the javascript, and use HTML5 validation instead.
Use this code:
<form action="i.php" method="post" onsubmit="perform();">
And in javascript make these changes:
if(r!=3) {
alert('please complete the form';
return false;
}
Javascript doesn't send POST headers with window.location!
By using this code, you don't need to use a button, javascript perform() function runs when the submit button is clicked in the form.
If form values are entered truly, javascript perform() does not return and form submits; else, the function returns and prevents submitting the form.
The problem is you are not submitting the form you are just going to a different page with javascript without passing along any variables. so instead of doing
window.location= "i.php";
you should submit the form like so
document.getElementById("formId").submit();
so you should give the form the id formId
The problem is that you are merely redirecting to the i.php page without posting any data. Replace this line in your JS:
window.location = "i.php";
with this
document.getElementsByTagName('form')[0].submit();
This will find the form in your DOM and submit it along with the data that has been input, preserving the values for your action page.
You also need to rename your submit-button for this to work. Otherwise you will not be able to call the submit function on the form programmatically.
<input type="submit" name="submit-btn" value="Submit" />
should do the trick. However, I don't really see the point of the submit button in addition to your validation/submission button.
Full code sample of the solution here: https://jsfiddle.net/dwu96jqw/1/
by press btn you redirect only and your form dont submitted for transfer via _POST
you should change your code :
<form action="i.php" method="post" id ="form1">
and :
if(r==3)
{
form1.submit();
}
window.location will redirect you to the page, to preserve field values return it
if(r==3)
{
return true;
}

How can i modify my html form on click to enable a button that changes the form input

What i requeire is very very simple, but im quite stuck, im trying to modify an old html form and spice up with some javascript or react. All i want to do here is Say for example the original form (<form>) is
Username:
Password:
And i would like to add a button, and on click it changes the form to
Login Key:
Hiding both Username and Password fields. bascially replace them with the Login Key Form. Any answers are very well aprecciated. Thanks.
You can use jQuery hide and show to accomplish what you're wanting.
$("#thisIsYourBtnID").click(function() {
$("#div").hide(); //this is your div that has username and password inputs in it
$("#div2").show(); //this is your new div showing login key form
});
I don't know a lot about javascript, but maybe you can use PHP to do this writing something like
<?php
if (isset($_POST['buttonNewForm']))
{
echo "......your new form.......";
echo "<form action=page.php method=post>
<button name='buttonOldForm'>Button</button>
</form>"
}
else
{
echo "......your old form.......";
echo "<form action=page.php method=post>
<button name='buttonNewForm'>Button</button>
</form>"
}
?>
The file must be page.php
I didn't check the code, but it should work as you want showing at the first time your old form.
I made a quite simple javascript function, is it what you were trying to do ?
<html>
<body>
<form>
<div id="divNo1">
<label>Username : </label>
<input type="text" />
<br />
<label>Password : </label>
<input type="text" />
</div>
<div id="divNo2" style="display:none">
<label>Login Key : </label>
<input type="text" />
</div>
</form>
<button onclick="changeDisplay()">Button</button>
</body>
<script type="text/javascript">
function changeDisplay() {
var div1 = document.getElementById("divNo1");
var div2 = document.getElementById("divNo2");
if (div1.style.display == 'none') {
div1.style.display = '';
div2.style.display = 'none';
} else {
div1.style.display = 'none';
div2.style.display = '';
}
}
</script>
</html>

Why is "enter" not working for my form?

Here is the code, I can't figure out why enter/return isn't working! Is it because it's inline?
HTML
<div class="wrap"><form name="login" style="margin: 0px">
<label for="fname">CLICK TO ENTER PASSWORD</label>
<input TYPE="text" NAME="pass" size="17" onKeyDown="e.keyCode == 13;" id="fname" class="cool"><br><input type="button" value="LOGIN" class="asbestos-flat-button" onClick="TheLogin(this.form)">
</form>
</div>
JS
<script language="JavaScript" type="text/javascript">
<!--- PASSWORD PROTECTION SCRIPT
function TheLogin() {
var password = 'password';
if (this.document.login.pass.value == password) {
top.location.href="home.html";
}
else {
location.href="index.html";
}
}
// End hiding --->
</script>
I'm learning JS so any help would be so awesome!
UPDATE
Thanks for your help. Still not working when integrated. The page doesn't load the home.html when I hit enter/return. Instead I get no refresh, and the address bar has the url http://example.com/?pass=password.
If I click the button it does load the home.html!
thanks!
Here I wrote a JSFiddle with the working example.
In the HTML code:
Remove onKeyDown="e.keyCode == 13;" from the <input> text element.
Remove onClick="TheLogin(this.form)" from the <input> button element.
Change the type of input button from 'button' to 'submit'. In this way, when you press "enter" in the input text form the form is submitted.
Intercept the "submit" event in the form, adding onSubmit="theLogin(this.form)" on <form> element.
Note: I have renamed the function name from "TheLogin" to "theLogin" because in JavaScript the functions begins with lowercase letters if they are not constructors.
The HTML code:
<div class="wrap">
<form name="login" style="margin: 0px" onSubmit="theLogin(this.form)">
<label for="fname">CLICK TO ENTER PASSWORD</label>
<INPUT TYPE="text" NAME="pass" size="17" id="fname" class="cool">
<br>
<input type="submit" value="LOGIN" class="asbestos-flat-button">
</form>
</div>
And the JavaScript code:
theLogin = function() {
var password = 'password';
if (this.document.login.pass.value === password) {
top.location.href = "home.html";
} else {
location.href = "index.html";
}
}
You have missed the <input type="submit">, without it you can't use the Enter key to submit the form.
