My chrome extension keeps throwing an error to this function
function messageReceived(message) {
// A message is an object with a data property that
// consists of key-value pairs.
// Pop up a notification to show the GCM message.
chrome.notifications.create(getNotificationId(), {
title: message.data.name,
iconUrl: 'assets/img/cat.jpg',
type: 'basic',
message: message.data.prompt,
buttons : [
{ title: "Accept" },
{ title: "Reject" }
]
}, function() {});
}
Error:
Unchecked runtime.lastError while running notifications.create: Some of the required properties are missing: type, iconUrl, title and message.
at messageReceived
However, all these are actually present. The error arrives EVERYTIME I add the following function
function notificationBtnClicked(notification, ibtn) {
console.log(notification)
console.log(ibtn)
if (ibtn==0) {
chrome.storage.local.get("name", function(name){
chrome.storage.local.get("email",function(email){
//call other users
var email = email
var name = name
$.ajax({
url: 'some api',
data:'{email:email, name:name}',
ajax:true,
success: function(result)
{
alert(result);
}
});
});
})
}else {
//snooze
}
}
But, I don't understand what's the issue. I checked the chrome.storage by downloading some chrome extension that lets you view it and its there.
Why is the error incorrect? :/
chrome.gcm.onMessage.addListener(messageReceived);
chrome.notifications.onButtonClicked.addListener(notificationBtnClicked);
Make sure that all required notification properties have their value. The 'iconUrl' you used must be a data URL, a blob URL or URL related to a resource within the extension's .crx file required for 'notification.create' method. Please be mindful of the Chrome version you are using.
Also, include a callback and check chrome.runtime.lastError
function callback() {
if (chrome.runtime.lastError) {
console.log(chrome.runtime.lastError.message);
} else {
// Tab exists
}
}

We use FileOpener2 plugin for cordova to open a downloaded .apk file from our servers. Recently, we found that Android 6.0 or higher devices are throwing an exception only on the file open process. We were able to trace this down to the cordova.js file, where the posted exception occurs. We have yet to find a cause or a fix, but have put a workaround in place. Any info would be amazing on this so we can maintain our in-app self updating process going on all Android devices.
Code (Working on Android <= 6.0):
// we need to access LocalFileSystem
window.requestFileSystem(LocalFileSystem.PERSISTENT, 5 * 1024 * 1024, function (fs) {
//Show user that download is occurring
$("#toast").dxToast({
message: "Downloading please wait..",
type: "warning",
visible: true,
displayTime: 20000
});
// we will save file in .. Download/OURAPPNAME.apk
var filePath = cordova.file.externalRootDirectory + '/Download/' + "OURAPPNAME.apk";
var fileTransfer = new FileTransfer();
var uri = encodeURI(appDownloadURL);
fileTransfer.download(uri, filePath, function (entry) {
//Show user that download is occurring/show user install is about to happen
$("#toast").dxToast({
message: "Download complete! Launching...",
type: "success",
visible: true,
displayTime: 2000
});
////Use pwlin's fileOpener2 plugin to let the system open the .apk
cordova.plugins.fileOpener2.open(
entry.toURL(),
'application/vnd.android.package-archive',
{
error: function (e) {
window.open(appDownloadURL, "_system");
},
success: function () { console.log('file opened successfully'); }
}
);
},
function (error) {
//Show user that download had an error
$("#toast").dxToast({
message: error.message,
type: "error",
displayTime: 5000
});
},
false);
})

I am attempting to update a parse user field and the function stops in the middle of it:
Parse.Cloud.define("modifyAdminStatus", function(request, response) {
var userQuery = new Parse.Query(Parse.User);
var isAdmin = request.params.adminStatus;
console.log("isAdmin:" + isAdmin);
userQuery.equalTo("username", request.params.username);
userQuery.find({ useMasterKey: true,
success: function(user) {
console.log(user.length);
console.log("Got User")
console.log(user);
user.set("isAdmin", isAdmin);
console.log("Set Status");
user.save(null, {useMasterKey: true,
success: function(user) {
response.success();
},
error: function(error) {
response.error(error.message);
}
});
},
error: function(error) {
response.error(error.message);
}
});
});
I dont get any syntax errors, when i run the code i get:
1
Got User
[ ParseUser { _objCount: 2, className: '_User', id: '2vigcitsl6' } ]
in my console. However, it seems to stop the code after i attempt to set the admin status. I have tried running it using useMasterKey but that didnt do anything so maybe I'm missing something and where the useMasterKey should go?
The answer is:
query.find({
... code here
});
Returns an array, using query.first (or selecting one object from the array) instead will get one object and allow you to set things on it.
When you're trying to save the user, parse expects two parameters. The first should be an object containing any changes, and the second should be the save options.
So in your case, simply change your save to user.save (null, {useMasterKey:true, success...})
The way you have it now would create a column on Parse.User entitled useMasterKey, if permissions allow.
I'm making an app that allows user to like and comment on other user post. I'm using Parse as my backend. I'm able to notified user everytime their post liked or commented. However if current user like or comment on their own post this current user still notified. How can I prevent this?
Here is the js code that I use:
Parse.Cloud.afterSave('Likes', function(request) {
// read pointer async
request.object.get("likedPost").fetch().then(function(like){
// 'post' is the commentedPost object here
var liker = like.get('createdBy');
// proceed with the rest of your code - unchanged
var query = new Parse.Query(Parse.Installation);
query.equalTo('jooveUser', liker);
Parse.Push.send({
where: query, // Set our Installation query.
data: {
alert: message = request.user.get('username') + ' liked your post',
badge: "Increment",
sound: "facebook_pop.mp3",
t : "l",
lid : request.object.id,
pid: request.object.get('likedPostId'),
lu : request.user.get('username'),
ca : request.object.createdAt,
pf : request.user.get('profilePicture')
}
}, {
success: function() {
console.log("push sent")
},
error: function(err) {
console.log("push not sent");
}
});
});
});
If I understand the context of where this code is correctly,
I recommend checking
if request.user.get("username") != Parse.CurrentUser.get("username")
Before sending out the push notification
Where is your cloud function being called from? If you're calling it from your ios code, then before you call the cloud code function, just prelude it with something like this:
if (PFUser.currentUser?.valueForKey("userName") as! String) != (parseUser.valueForKey("userName") as! String)
I have used filefield xtype to upload a file and calling a web service.
For my application, to handle success and failure block, i am using a variable 'success' such that if the value is true, it goes to success block and if the value is false, it goes to failure block.
If i set the value success=false, it comes to failure block but, when i decode the response it gives me "permission denied" error only in IE. In Chrome, we get the expected output even if it enters the failure block.
Since i am getting this error, i am handling this failure case in success block itself.
Below is the code snippet:
form.submit({
headers : {
"Accept" : "application/json; charset=utf-8"
},
url : 'calling a web service',
waitMsg : 'Loading... Please Wait...',
success : function (response, args) {
var jsonResp = Ext.decode(args.response.responseText);
if (jsonResp.exception) {
Ext.create('widget.uxNotification', {
title : 'Failed',
height : 150,
width : 350,
html : '<span style="text-align:center; display:block;color:red">' + jsonResp.R.MSG + '</span>'
}).show();
} else {
//actual code if success=true goes here
}
},
failure : function (response, args) {
var jsonResp = Ext.decode(args.response.responseText); //if i decode the response, i get permission denied
var msg = jsonResp.R.MSG || jsonResp.R.Message;
//R.MSG is undefined even if it is present in response and R.Message gives permission denied
Ext.Msg.alert(msg);
}
});
json Response for success case:
{
"success":true,
"R":{
"MSG":"Success"
}
}
json Response for failure case:
{
"success":true,
"exception":true,
"R":{
"MSG":"Failure"
}
}
I am sending another parameter 'exception' in the response to handle this. So if exception is true then it's actually a failure case.
Is it a bug in ExtJS library? Since i have seen the comments written in library file, stating that there is a problem with iframe.
Can anyone help me on how to solve this IE issue?
It seems to be difficult problem (or impossible??).
I want to get and read HTTP Response, caused by HTTP Request in browser, under watching Chrome Extension background script.
We can get HTTP Request Body in this way
chrome.webRequest.onBeforeRequest.addListener(function(data){
// data contains request_body
},{'urls':[]},['requestBody']);
I also checked these stackoverflows
Chrome extensions - Other ways to read response bodies than chrome.devtools.network?
Chrome extension to read HTTP response
Is there any clever way to get HTTP Response Body in Chrome Extension?
I can't find better way then this anwser.
Chrome extension to read HTTP response
The answer told how to get response headers and display in another page.But there is no body info in the response obj(see event-responseReceived). If you want to get response body without another page, try this.
var currentTab;
var version = "1.0";
chrome.tabs.query( //get current Tab
{
currentWindow: true,
active: true
},
function(tabArray) {
currentTab = tabArray[0];
chrome.debugger.attach({ //debug at current tab
tabId: currentTab.id
}, version, onAttach.bind(null, currentTab.id));
}
)
function onAttach(tabId) {
chrome.debugger.sendCommand({ //first enable the Network
tabId: tabId
}, "Network.enable");
chrome.debugger.onEvent.addListener(allEventHandler);
}
function allEventHandler(debuggeeId, message, params) {
if (currentTab.id != debuggeeId.tabId) {
return;
}
if (message == "Network.responseReceived") { //response return
chrome.debugger.sendCommand({
tabId: debuggeeId.tabId
}, "Network.getResponseBody", {
"requestId": params.requestId
}, function(response) {
// you get the response body here!
// you can close the debugger tips by:
chrome.debugger.detach(debuggeeId);
});
}
}
I think it's useful enough for me and you can use chrome.debugger.detach(debuggeeId)to close the ugly tip.
sorry, mabye not helpful... ^ ^
There is now a way in a Chrome Developer Tools extension, and sample code can be seen here: blog post.
In short, here is an adaptation of his sample code:
chrome.devtools.network.onRequestFinished.addListener(request => {
request.getContent((body) => {
if (request.request && request.request.url) {
if (request.request.url.includes('facebook.com')) {
//continue with custom code
var bodyObj = JSON.parse(body);//etc.
}
}
});
});
This is definitely something that is not provided out of the box by the Chrome Extension ecosystem. But, I could find a couple of ways to get around this but both come with their own set of drawbacks.
The first way is:
Use a content script to inject our own custom script.
Use the custom script to extend XHR's native methods to read the response.
Add the response to the web page's DOM inside a hidden (not display: none) element.
Use the content script to read the hidden response.
The second way is to create a DevTools extension which is the only extension that provides an API to read each request.
I have penned down both the methods in a detailed manner in a blog post here.
Let me know if you face any issues! :)
To get a XHR response body you can follow the instructions in this answer.
To get a FETCH response body you can check Solution 3 in this article and also this answer. Both get the response body without using chrome.debugger.
In a nutshell, you need to inject the following function into the page from the content script using the same method used for the XHR requests.
const constantMock = window.fetch;
window.fetch = function() {
return new Promise((resolve, reject) => {
constantMock.apply(this, arguments)
.then((response) => {
if (response) {
response.clone().json() //the response body is a readablestream, which can only be read once. That's why we make a clone here and work with the clone
.then( (json) => {
console.log(json);
//Do whatever you want with the json
resolve(response);
})
.catch((error) => {
console.log(error);
reject(response);
})
}
else {
console.log(arguments);
console.log('Undefined Response!');
reject(response);
}
})
.catch((error) => {
console.log(error);
reject(response);
})
})
}
If response.clone().json() does not work, you can try response.clone().text()
I show my completed code if it can be some help. I added the underscore to get the request url, thanks
//background.js
import _, { map } from 'underscore';
var currentTab;
var version = "1.0";
chrome.tabs.onActivated.addListener(activeTab => {
currentTab&&chrome.debugger.detach({tabId:currentTab.tabId});
currentTab = activeTab;
chrome.debugger.attach({ //debug at current tab
tabId: currentTab.tabId
}, version, onAttach.bind(null, currentTab.tabId));
});
function onAttach(tabId) {
chrome.debugger.sendCommand({ //first enable the Network
tabId: tabId
}, "Network.enable");
chrome.debugger.onEvent.addListener(allEventHandler);
}
function allEventHandler(debuggeeId, message, params) {
if (currentTab.tabId !== debuggeeId.tabId) {
return;
}
if (message === "Network.responseReceived") { //response return
chrome.debugger.sendCommand({
tabId: debuggeeId.tabId
}, "Network.getResponseBody", {
"requestId": params.requestId
//use underscore to add callback a more argument, passing params down to callback
}, _.partial(function(response,params) {
// you get the response body here!
console.log(response.body,params.response.url);
// you can close the debugger tips by:
// chrome.debugger.detach(debuggeeId);
},_,params));
}
}
I also find there is a bug in chrome.debugger.sendCommand. If I have two requests with same URI but different arguments. such as:
requests 1:https://www.example.com/orders-api/search?limit=15&offer=0
requests 2:https://www.example.com/orders-api/search?limit=85&offer=15
The second one will not get the corrected responseBody, it will show:
Chrome Extension: "Unchecked runtime.lastError: {"code":-32000,"message":"No resource with given identifier found"}
But I debugger directly in background devtools, it get the second one right body.
chrome.debugger.sendCommand({tabId:2},"Network.getResponseBody",{requestId:"6932.574"},function(response){console.log(response.body)})
So there is no problem with tabId and requestId.
Then I wrap the chrome.debugger.sendCommand with setTimeout, it will get the first and second responseBody correctly.
if (message === "Network.responseReceived") { //response return
console.log(params.response.url,debuggeeId.tabId,params.requestId)
setTimeout(()=>{
chrome.debugger.sendCommand({
tabId: debuggeeId.tabId
}, "Network.getResponseBody", {
"requestId": params.requestId
//use underscore to add callback a more argument, passing params down to callback
}, _.partial(function(response,params,debuggeeId) {
// you get the response body here!
console.log(response.body,params.response.url);
// you can close the debugger tips by:
// chrome.debugger.detach(debuggeeId);
},_,params,debuggeeId));
},800)
}
I think the setTimeout is not the perfect solution, can some one give help?
thanks.
