how to pass data-attribute in modal - javascript

I need to pass the data attribute in my modal. to attach with image tag in src When clicked on the link. Below is my code. I am confused. I know we can use JavaScript onclick method to pass by reference. Still can anyone give me executable code. My code is below. I am not really good in making JavaScript functions.
<script src="https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/2.1.1/jquery.min.js"></script>
<script src="https://maxcdn.bootstrapcdn.com/bootstrap/3.3.5/js/bootstrap.min.js"></script>
<link rel="stylesheet" href="https://maxcdn.bootstrapcdn.com/bootstrap/3.3.5/css/bootstrap.min.css" />
Image
<div class="modal fade" id="checkImage" tabindex="-1" role="dialog" aria-labelledby="myModalLabel">
<div class="modal-dialog" role="document">
<div class="modal-content">
<div class="modal-header">
<button type="button" class="close" data-dismiss="modal" aria-label="Close"><span aria-hidden="true">×</span></button>
<h4 class="modal-title" style="color:black;" id="myModalLabel">View Image</h4>
</div>
<div class="modal-body" style="color:black;">
<h1>Fee Submit</h1>
<img src="#" alt="bank_chalan" id="thanks" />
</div>
<div class="modal-footer">
<button type='submit' data-dismiss="modal" name='submit' class='btn btn-success'>Close</button>
</div>
</div>
</div>
</div>

you can use bootstrap modal event listener show or shown and pass the data attribute value to <img>
$('#checkImage').on('show.bs.modal', function (e) {
var img = $(e.relatedTarget).data('myimage');
//alert(img);
$("#thanks").attr("src",img);
});
Working Example
$('#checkImage').on('show.bs.modal', function (e) {
var img = $(e.relatedTarget).data('myimage');
//alert(img);
$("#thanks").attr("src", img);
});
<script src="https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/2.1.1/jquery.min.js"></script>
<script src="https://maxcdn.bootstrapcdn.com/bootstrap/3.3.5/js/bootstrap.min.js"></script>
<link rel="stylesheet" href="https://maxcdn.bootstrapcdn.com/bootstrap/3.3.5/css/bootstrap.min.css" />
Image
<div class="modal fade" id="checkImage" tabindex="-1" role="dialog" aria-labelledby="myModalLabel">
<div class="modal-dialog" role="document">
<div class="modal-content">
<div class="modal-header">
<button type="button" class="close" data-dismiss="modal" aria-label="Close"><span aria-hidden="true">×</span>
</button>
<h4 class="modal-title" style="color:black;" id="myModalLabel">View Image</h4>
</div>
<div class="modal-body" style="color:black;">
<h1>Fee Submit</h1>
<img src="#" alt="bank_chalan" id="thanks" />
</div>
<div class="modal-footer">
<button type='submit' data-dismiss="modal" name='submit' class='btn btn-success'>Close</button>
</div>
</div>
</div>
</div>
Fiddle
Multiple Images

If you want to include image(s) into bootstrap modal, try something like this.
<a id = 'checkImage' >Image</a>
<div id = 'imagemodal' class="modal fade bs-example-modal-lg" tabindex="-1" role="dialog" aria-labelledby="myLargeModalLabel">
<div class="modal-dialog">
<div class="modal-content">
<div class="modal-header">
<button type="button" class="close" data-dismiss="modal" aria-label="Close"><span aria-hidden="true">×</span></button>
<h4 class="modal-title" id="myModalLabel">View Image</h4>
</div>
<div class="modal-body">
<h1>Fee Submit</h1>
<img src="http://www.userlogos.org/files/logos/Karmody/alaTest_Iphone01a.png" id="imagepreview" >
</div>
<div class="modal-footer">
<button type="button" class="btn btn-info" data-dismiss="modal">Close</button>
</div>
</div>
</div>
</div>
In you JS file, add this
$(function() {
$('#checkImage').on('click', function() {
$('.imagepreview').attr('src', $(this).find('img').attr('src'));
$('#imagemodal').modal('show');
});
});

open each Bootstrap 3 Modal one after another and not opening all together

I have unlimited modals starting from modal_0.
What I need is when closing one modal another is opened and not all opening together as in following code.
So how can it be solved?
$("#modal_0").on('hidden.bs.modal',function () {
for(var i = 1; i < 5; i++) {
$("#modal_"+i).modal({toggle: true, backdrop: 'static',keyboard:false,show:true});
};
});
I have made you an example with 3 modals using a recursive mechanism, hope this helps you:
$(document).ready(function()
{
startRecursiveModalOpening(0);
});
function startRecursiveModalOpening(modalID)
{
var modalOptions = {
toggle: true,
backdrop: 'static',
keyboard: false,
show: true
};
// Register listener for modal hidden event one time.
$("#modal_" + modalID)
.modal(modalOptions)
.one("hidden.bs.modal", function()
{
var nextModal = $("#modal_" + (modalID + 1));
if (nextModal.length > 0)
startRecursiveModalOpening(modalID + 1);
});
}

Assuming the modal's id has 'modal_' + sequence as pattern, and that the modals should be displayed based on this sequence:
modal_0 ➝ modal_1 ➝ modal_2 ➝ and so on...
Then you could try attaching the event handler like this:
$('[id^="modal_"]').on('hidden.bs.modal', function () {
var nextId = parseInt(this.id.substring(6)) + 1;
$("#modal_"+ nextId).modal({
toggle: true,
backdrop: 'static',
keyboard:false,
show:true
});
});

Confirmation Modal After Every click. Works first time, then fails. (Modal on Modal)

I'm using Bootstrap to launch a selection modal, then a form modal and finally a confirmation modal after user's click send.
This works fine the very first time, however after that, confirmation modal does not pop up, and it just simply exits.
Here's my code:
HTML:
<button type="button" class="btn" data-toggle="modal" data-target="#chooseModal">Open</button>
<!-- Select One Modal -->
<div class="modal fade" id="chooseModal" tabindex="-1" role="dialog" aria-labelledby="myModalLabel">
<div class="modal-dialog" role="document">
<div class="modal-content">
<div class="modal-header">
<button type="button" class="close" data-dismiss="modal" aria-label="Close"><span aria-hidden="true">×</span></button>
<h2 class="modal-title" id="myModalLabel">Select An Option</h2>
</div>
<div class="modal-body">
<button type="button" class="btn" data-toggle="modal" data-target="#myForm">Click to Email</button>
<button type="button" class="btn" data-toggle="modal" data-target="#chooseModal">Click to Do Something Else</button>
</div>
</div>
</div>
</div>
<!-- Email Form Modal-->
<div class="modal fade" id="myForm" tabindex="-1" role="dialog" aria-labelledby="myModalLabel">
<div class="modal-dialog" role="document">
<div class="modal-content">
<div class="modal-header">
<button type="button" class="close" data-dismiss="modal" aria-label="Close"><span aria-hidden="true">×</span></button>
<h4 class="modal-title" id="myModalLabel">Email</h4>
</div>
<div class="modal-body">
<div class="row">
<div class="col-xs-12" id="emailInput">
<h4>To:</h4>
<input type="text" name="email" id="email">
</div>
<div class="col-xs-12">
<h4>Subject:</h4>
<input type="text" value="subject" name="emailSubject" id="emailSubject">
</div>
<div class="col-xs-12">
<h4>Body:</h4>
<textarea rows="4" id="emailBody"></textarea>
</div>
<div class="col-xs-1">
<button onclick="confirmAlert()" type="button" class="btn" data-toggle="modal" data-target="#myForm">Send</button>
</div>
</div>
</div>
</div>
</div>
</div>
<!-- Confirmation Modal -->
<div class="modal fade" id="PDFconfirmation" tabindex="-1" role="dialog" aria-labelledby="myModalLabel">
<div class="modal-dialog" role="document">
<div class="modal-content">
<div class="modal-header">

<h2 class="modal-title" id="myModalLabel">Thank You!</h2>
</div>
<div class="modal-body">
<h2>Your message has been sent.</h2>
</div>
</div>
</div>
</div>
Javascript:
function confirmAlert(){
$(".modal, .modal-backdrop").hide();
$('#PDFconfirmation').modal('show');
setTimeout(function(){
$("#PDFconfirmation, .modal, .modal-backdrop").hide();
}, 2000);
}
You should change your JS code to this:
function confirmAlert(){
$("#chooseModal").modal('hide');
$('#PDFconfirmation').modal('show');
setTimeout(function(){
$("#PDFconfirmation").modal('hide');
}, 2000);
}
However, you can improve this code but now you have a better idea how you should toggle (show/hide) modals to prevent this sort of bugs.
Here is the snippet,

Bootstrap, Modal with link inside data-content once clicked close the current modal and shows another modal?

I'm currently having a problem. I need to open another modal once i clicked a link inside the current modal. I tried adding the data-dismiss="modal" on the hyperlink inside the data-content but no luck and I'm stuck. I'm very very new to bootstrap too. I just started last week.
My code goes like this:
<a href="" data-target="#modal1" data-toggle="modal">
<img src="logos/tools.png" class="pop text-center" data-container="body" data-toggle="popover" data-placement="bottom" data-content='<h3>aaa</h3>
asd ' data-original-title="" title="" ">
<h3>xxx</h3>
</a>
<div tabindex="-1" class="modal fade" id="modalscd" role="dialog" aria-hidden="true" aria-labelledby="modalscd">
<div class="modal-dialog modal-lg">
<div class="modal-content">
<div class="modal-header">
<button class="close" aria-hidden="true" type="button" data-dismiss="modal">×</button>
<h4 class="modal-title" id="proddevtools"><h4>Source Code Deployment</h4>

})

$(_this).popover("hide");

}, 30);

Modal dialog not closing by default close x button

I have following modal dialog coding,but when i click [X],the dialog doesn't closed. I invoke the dialog from button and the JavaScript function as follow;
$('#apply_Compensation_Leave').show();
Modal code
<div class="modal" id="apply_Compensation_Leave" tabindex="-1" role="dialog" aria-labelledby="messageModelLabel" aria-hidden="true">
<div class="modal-dialog">
<div class="modal-content">
<div class="modal-header">
<button type="button" class="close" data-dismiss="modal" aria-hidden="true"><li class="fa fa-times"/></button>
<h3 style="font-size: 17px;">Apply Leave</h3>
</div>
<div class="modal-body">
</div>
</div>
</div>
</div>
Did i miss anything?
Adding Javascript file..all javascript functions in seperate .js file.
EmpcompensationAdapter.method('getActionButtonsHtml', function(id,data) {
var html = "";
html = '<div style="width:80px;"><img class="tableActionButton" src="BASE_URL/apply.png" style="cursor:pointer;" rel="tooltip" title="Apply Leave" onclick="modJs.applyleaves();return false;"></img></div>';
return html;
});
EmpcompensationAdapter.method('applyleaves', function() {
$('#apply_Compensation_Leave').show();
});
EmpcompensationAdapter.method('showLeaveView', function() {
$('#apply_Compensation_Leave').hide();
});
When i click Back button, by calling the function showLeaveView();
Apart from adding $('#apply_Compensation_Leave').modal('show');, you need to change your HTML also. <li> tag should not be put without <ul>. It's not valid markup at all. Try putting × in your button HTML.
<div class="modal" id="apply_Compensation_Leave" tabindex="-1" role="dialog" aria-labelledby="messageModelLabel" aria-hidden="true">
<div class="modal-dialog">
<div class="modal-content">
<div class="modal-header">
<button type="button" class="close" data-dismiss="modal" aria-hidden="true">×</button>
<h3 style="font-size: 17px;">Apply Leave</h3>
</div>
<div class="modal-body">
</div>
</div>
</div>
</div>
Here is a Demo
Or you can provide valid markup like this <ul><li class="fa fa-times"></li></ul>
Here is a Demo with the valid markup.
The bootstrap Modal is invoked by $('#apply_Compensation_Leave').modal('show');
Try this demo.
You are opening your modal using JS.
You can use this.But this has wrong markup as #Alorika Mentioned
<div class="modal" id="apply_Compensation_Leave" tabindex="-1" role="dialog" aria-labelledby="messageModelLabel" aria-hidden="true">
<div class="modal-dialog">
<div class="modal-content">
<div class="modal-header">
<button type="button" class="close" data-dismiss="modal" aria-hidden="true">
</button>
<h3 style="font-size: 17px;">Apply Leave</h3>
</div>
<div class="modal-body">
</div>
</div>
</div>
</div>
JavaScript
$('#apply_Compensation_Leave').show();
Try this layout :
<div class="modal fade bs-example-modal-sm" id="myModal" tabindex="-1" role="dialog" aria-labelledby="myModalLabel" data-backdrop="static" data-keyboard="false">
<div class="modal-dialog" role="document">
<div class="modal-content">
<div class="modal-header">
<button type="button" class="close" data-dismiss="modal" aria-label="Close"><span aria-hidden="true">×</span></button>
<h4 class="modal-title" id="myModalLabel"> <center>Title here </center> </h4>
</div>
<div class="modal-body">
...Body here...
</div>
<div class="modal-footer">
<button type="button" id="Okbtn" class="btn btn-danger" data-dismiss="modal"> CANCEL</button>
</div>
</div>
</div>
</div>
