FormData do not send complete files in the server - javascript

so I am trying to upload multiple files to my server using jquery ajax.
So this is what i've done so far:

My problem here is, when I tried to upload, lets say, 4 files. It only read 3 files in the server. I noticed that only the last file was not read or maybe not even in $_FILES.

change your for loop as inp is an array you it starts from index 0 but you are accessing it by 1 so first file will be skiped:-

The php script that handles the upload is rather simple:

But in order for $_FILES to work need the data to be uploaded as multipart/form-data where the base_img_data must be encoded as base64 string. Is there a way to do this at my javascript without using an <input type="file" /> input element as w3schools say so?

I mean, I need to populate the ajax accordingly in order to emulate a multipart form upload without using an input field that has file attribute. If they are not set to false then the upload won't happen.

Upon placing input differentiate it using a data attribute, for example, data-file once you dynamically add it. In your example an approach should be to replace the following function:

Why does it work?
It works because using form-data you make a POST encoded as multipart/form-data. $_FILES is a parsed value from a body that seems to be a file. In our case we re-constructed the form as multipart one at line:
formData.append($(element).attr('name'),DataURIToBlob(value),`myfile_${index}.png`);

In my case I set a name with fixed file extension, if you want to manage it manually use the blob type. I could do it like this:

Upload images to server with a preview

so I have this code to upload an image and show it's preview. It also allows you to upload multiple images and show it's preview.

how to pass a $_FILES variable via AJAX to PHP [duplicate]

Can I use the following jQuery code to perform file upload using POST method of an ajax request ?

I have been googling around, but what I found was a plugin while in my plan I do not want to use it. At least for the moment.
File upload is not possible through AJAX.
You can upload file, without refreshing page by using IFrame.

With XHR2, File upload through AJAX is supported. E.g. through FormData object, but unfortunately it is not supported by all/old browsers.

In server side you can read original file name (and other info) which is automatically included to request.
You do NOT need to set header "Content-Type" to "multipart/form-data" browser will set it automatically

Use a hidden iframe and set your form's target to that iframe's name. This way, when the form is submitted, only the iframe will be refreshed.
Have an event handler registered for the iframe's load event to parse the response.

Using FormData is the way to go as indicated by many answers. here is a bit of code that works great for this purpose. I also agree with the comment of nesting ajax blocks to complete complex circumstances. By including e.PreventDefault(); in my experience makes the code more cross browser compatible.

Yes you can, just use javascript to get the file, making sure you read the file as a data URL. Parse out the stuff before base64 to actually get the base 64 encoded data and then if you are using php or really any back end language you can decode the base 64 data and save into a file like shown below

Here was an idea I was thinking of:
Have an iframe on page and have a referencer.
Have a form in which you move the input type file element to.
Form: A processing page AND a target of the FRAME.
The result will post to the iframe, and then you can just send the fetched data up a level to the image tag you want with something like:
data:image/png;base64,asdfasdfasdfasdfa
and the page loads.
I believe it works for me, and depending you might be able to do something like:

Note: as document.write writes to the document stream, calling document.write on a closed (loaded) document automatically calls document.open which will clear the document.
document.write(imageFiles.files[i].name); will clear your document. You have to append a new Element with the names of your files to display them on your site. To do this you can create a new Element using jQuery
