I have multiple fields with same id in HTML form and I want to hide them if the value of a particular field is 1 but it only hides the first field of that id all other fields are not hidden
<div class="form-group">
<label class="col-md-3 control-label" for="example-text-input" id="g">Days of week</label>
<div class="col-md-9">
<div class="checkbok">
<label for="example-checkbox1">
<input type="checkbox" id="g" name="gender" value="monday">Monday
</label>
</div>
<div class="checkbok">
<label for="example-checkbox1">
<input type="checkbox" id="g" name="gender" value="tuesday">Tuesday
</label>
</div>
<div class="checkbok">
<label for="example-checkbox1">
<input type="checkbox" id="g" name="gender" value="wednesday">Wednesday
</label>
</div>
<div class="checkbok">
<label for="example-checkbox1">
<input type="checkbox" id="g" name="gender" value="thursday">Thursday
</label>
</div>
<div class="checkbok">
<label for="example-checkbox1">
<input type="checkbox" id="g" name="gender" value="friday">Friday
</label>
</div>
<div class="checkbok">
<label for="example-checkbox1">
<input type="checkbox" id="g" name="gender" value="saturday">Saturday
</label>
</div>
<div class="checkbok">
<label for="example-checkbox1">
<input type="checkbox" id="g" name="gender" value="sunday"> Sunday
</label>
</div>
</div>
</div>
<div class="form-group">
<label class="col-md-3 control-label" for="example-text-input" id="g">Time</label>
<div class="col-md-3">
<select id="g" name="nod" class="form-control">
<?php
for($i=1;$i<=12;$i++){
echo"<option value='$i'>$i AM</option>";
}
for($i=1;$i<=12;$i++){
echo "<option value='12+$i'>$i PM</option>";
}?>
</select>
</div>
</div>
All the elements have the same id="g".Below is the javascript code
<script type="text/javascript">
var ele=document.getElementById("st").value;
if(ele==1)
document.getElementById("g").style.visibility = "hidden";
//else
//document.getElementById("g").style.visibility = "none";
</script>
But only the first element(ie the text days of week) gets hidden all others are shown.How do I hide all the others
ID should be unique in html fields,but you can have same name attribute/classname. you have to loop through the array of elements extracted using classname or name attribute.
in your case use name attribute
function hideGender(){
var ele=document.getElementById("st").value;
if(ele==1){
var elements=document.getElementsByName("gender");
for(var i=0;i<elements.length;i++)
elements[i].style.visibility = "hidden";
}
}
IDs should be unique within the document.
Change id="g" to class="g".
<label for="example-checkbox1">
<input type="checkbox" class="g" name="gender" value="saturday"> Saturday
</label>
<script type="text/javascript">
Array.filter(
document.getElementsByClassName('g'),
function(elem){
elem.style.visibility = 'hidden';
});
</script>
To select multiple fields with same id you will have to use -
$('[id="yourFieldId"]');
So in your case -
var ele=document.getElementById("st").value;
if(ele==1)
$('[id="yourFieldId"]').hide();

i have my form structure as below :
Each required element as a parent class is_required
Child class has element specific class name like checkbox_required or radio_required etc
i want to loop on all for elements inside is_required class and then based on sub class do the required validation. My problem is i am not able to select the child class:
<div class="col-md-3">
<div class="form-group is_required">
<label>radio button</label><br>
<div class="radio_required">
<input type="radio" name="radio_button" value="1">1
<input type="radio" name="radio_button" value="2">2
<input type="radio" name="radio_button" value="3">3
</div>
</div>
</div>
<div class="form-group is_required">
<label>checkboxes</label><br>
<div class="checkbox_required">
<input type="checkbox" name="checkboxes[]" value="one">one
<input type="checkbox" name="checkboxes[]" value="two">two
<input type="checkbox" name="checkboxes[]" value="three">three
</div>
</div>
i am looping through all these elements as below
$(".is_required").each(function() {
var div = $(this)+" > div";// Not sure how will i get the div here need to get radio_required, checkboxe_required etc
})
can someone advise me how can i achieve that
Try using the following code
$(".is_required").each(function() {
var element = $(this);
//Loop all children elements of current element
$(element).children().each(function () {
if($(this).hasClass("checkbox_required")){
var checkboxElement = $(this);
console.log($(checkboxElement).attr("class"));
}
else if($(this).hasClass("radio_required")){
var radioElement = $(this);
console.log($(radioElement).attr("class"));
}
});
})

here is my sample element with code snippet
var result = [];
$('div label').each(function(){

However as per OP statement, You need to create a object then set it property
var obj = {};
obj[label] = value;
result.push(obj);
var result = [];
$('div label').each(function() {
var $this = $(this);
var label = $this.text();
value = $this.siblings().attr('value');
var obj = {};
obj[label] = value;
result.push(obj);
});
console.log(result);

I would recommend you to use .serializeArray()
Encode a set of form elements as an array of names and values.
console.log($("form").serializeArray());
<script src="https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/2.0.3/jquery.min.js"></script>
<form action="uploaddata.php" method="POST">
<div class="form-group">
<label for="text-1483332101835-preview" class="fb-text-label">Mobile Number :</label>
<input type="text" class="form-control" name="mobNum" value="963242726" id="mobNum">
</div>
<div class="form-group">
<label for="textarea-1483332158183-preview" class="fb-textarea-label">Comments :</label>
<textarea type="textarea" class="form-control" name="comments" maxlength="11" id="comments">
very bad service
</textarea>
</div>
<div class="form-group">
<label for="select-1483332201030-preview" class="fb-select-label">Select Your Locality:</label>
<select type="select" class="form-control" name="locality" id="locality">

</form>
You can loop in label and inputs the way you doing or as said by Satpal you can use map and serializeArray too
Now if you dont use serializeArray then you have to check what type of input label has then only you can get the selected text or values
For Eg:
If next is checkbox then following checks has to be done to get value,
if($(this).next().is(":checkbox")){
$.each($(this).siblings(":checked"), function(){
alert($(this).val());
// get all checked values
});
}
You can go through this to know more. So better to go with serializeArray
sir, i have a form input like input text and radio button.
how to get the value of selected radio button, and put that value to the input type text.
heres jsfiddle, https://jsfiddle.net/czw71dfk/2/
<div id="gender" class="form-inline">
<div class="form-group">
<label for="">I Sign up as</label>
<input #id="place" type="text" class="form-control" readonly/>
<div class="radio-inline">
<label class="label_item" for="radioMale">
<input type="radio" class="radio_item" value="male" name="gender" id="radioMale">
</label>
<p class="text-center colorGrey">Male</p>
</div>
<div class="radio-inline">
<label class="label_item" for="radioFemale">
<input type="radio" class="radio_item" value="female" name="gender" id="radioFemale">
</label>
<p class="text-center colorGrey">Female</p>
</div>
<div class="radio-inline">
<label class="label_item" for="radioKids">
<input type="radio" class="radio_item" value="Kids" name="gender" id="radioKids">
</label>
<p class="text-center colorGrey">Kids</p>
</div>
</div>
</div>
$('#gender input').on('change', function() {
var gender = $( this ).val();
$("#place").val( gender );
});
HTML problem #id="place",
And must be using on change;
$(document).ready(function(){
$('input[name=gender]').on('change', function() {
var gender = $( this ).val();
$("#place").val( gender );
});
});
JSFiddle.net Example
Change #id="place" To id="place" https://jsfiddle.net/czw71dfk/4/
<input #id="place" type="text" class="form-control" readonly/>
To
<input id="place" type="text" class="form-control" readonly/>
Basically, I wanted to show/hide the div by clicking Yes/No Radio button. I have also done a sample types in the fiddle link below. I want to make this Generic, like one function can do for all the yes/no questions. and i want to avoid the multiple if condtion in jquery.

<div id="stdTypes" class="studentsType">

My jquery look this.
$('input[name="student"]:radio').change(function () {
var radio_value = ($('input:radio[name="student"]:checked').val());
if (radio_value == 'yes') {
$('.studentsType').slideDown("fast");
}
else if (radio_value == 'no') {
$('.studentsType').slideUp("fast");
}
});
$('input[name="gradstd"]:radio').change(function () {
var radio_value = ($('input:radio[name="gradstd"]:checked').val());
if (radio_value == 'yes') {
$('.departName').slideDown("fast");
}
else if (radio_value == 'no') {
$('.departName').slideUp("fast");
}
});
$('input[name="living"]:radio').change(function () {
var radio_value = ($('input:radio[name="living"]:checked').val());
if (radio_value == 'yes') {
$('.earning').slideDown("fast");
}
else if (radio_value == 'no') {
$('.earning').slideUp("fast");
}
});

Please help !!
You can use a data attribute in the radio buttons to indicate which DIV should be toggled.
$(':radio[data-rel]').change(function() {
var rel = $("." + $(this).data('rel'));
if ($(this).val() == 'yes') {
rel.slideDown();
} else {
rel.slideUp();
rel.find(":text,select").val("");
rel.find(":radio,:checkbox").prop("checked", false);
}
});
.studentsType,
.departName,
.earning {
display: none;
}

If you keep this sort of structure it can be achieved with a tiny bit of code:
http://jsfiddle.net/mgrgfqfd/2/
HTML:
<div class="container">
<div class="panel panel-default">
<div class="panel-body">
<div class="well well-sm">
<label class="control-label">1) Are you a Student??</label>
<div class="control-group" data-target="gruduate">

<label class="radio-inline">
<input type="radio" name="student" value="no"> No
</label>
</div>
<div class="optional">
<label class="control-label">1.1) Are you a Graduate Student?</label>
<div class="control-group">
<label class="radio-inline">
<input type="radio" name="gradstd" id="gradstd1" value="yes"> Yes
</label>
<label class="radio-inline">
<input type="radio" name="gradstd" id="gradstd2" value="no"> No
</label>
</div>
<div class="optional">
<label class="control-label">1.2) Please Enter your Department?</label>
<div class="control-group">
<input type="text" />
</div>
</div>
</div>
</div>
<div class="well well-sm">
<label class="control-label">2) Are you earning for your living?</label>
<div class="control-group">
<label class="radio-inline">
<input type="radio" name="living" value="yes"> Yes
</label>
<label class="radio-inline">
<input type="radio" name="living" value="no"> No
</label>
</div>
<div class="optional">
<label class="control-label">2.1) How much do you earn?</label>
<div class="control-group">
<input type="text" />
</div>
</div>
</div>
</div>
<div class="panel-footer">Panel footer</div>
</div>
</div>
JS:
$('input:radio').on('change', function() {
$(this).parents('.control-group').next('div.optional').toggle( $(this).val() == 'yes' );
});
Just ensure that your yes/no buttons are within a control-group and you put the optional elements directly after it inside a div with a class of .optional
Below code will find next div and perform sliding in jquery this helps you to avoid multiple redundant lines of code and ifs.
$('input:radio').on('change', function () {//Register change event for all radio button
if ($(this).val() == 'yes') {//check value of selected radio is yes
$(this).parent().parent().next('div').slideDown("fast");
}
else if ($(this).val() == 'no') {//check value of selected radio is no
$(this).parent().parent().next('div').slideUp("fast");
}
});
how to get checkbox value in array format like [{abc:[1,2,3]}]
