May i know how can i remain the text box image when the textbox is re-focus ? the textbox was validated which when user no fill up the value in the textbox it will appear error message and start focus on the textbox. Unfortunately after the textbox is re-focus the image is missing. Please help check my following demo with my current coding. Any help would be appreciated.
Example : JsFiddle DEMO 1
In your error_function you're overriding the input background property.
You should use backgroundColor property:
document.getElementById(ID).style.backgroundColor = "#FDEBEB";
I have add some line of jquery to your code, see this demo and hope it work for you
function fnName(ID, name) {
if (name == "") {
error_function("** Please enter the Name.", ID, "errMsg");
} else {
release_function(ID, "errMsg");
}
}
function error_function(message, ID, labelID) {
document.getElementById(labelID).innerHTML = message;
document.getElementById(labelID).style.display = "inline";
document.getElementById(ID).style.background = "#FDEBEB";
document.getElementById(ID).style.border = "thin solid red";
document.getElementById(ID).value = "";
document.getElementById(ID).focus();
}
function release_function(ID, labelID) {
document.getElementById(labelID).innerHTML = "";
document.getElementById(labelID).style.display = "";
document.getElementById(ID).style.border = "";
document.getElementById(ID).style.backgroundColor = "";
document.getElementById(ID).style.backgroundImage = "";
document.getElementById(ID).style.backgroundSize = "";
document.getElementById(ID).style.backgroundPosition = "";
document.getElementById(ID).style.backgroundRepeat = "";
}

I have 2 text boxes. Inputs cannot match but I don't want error message to show up when they're both empty only when there has been something inputed in both boxes. how do I do this?
function validate() {
var errorMessage = "";
var textbox4Input = document.getElementById("fictional");
var textbox5Input = document.getElementById("real");
var textbox4 = textbox4Input.value.trim();
var textbox5 = textbox5Input.value.trim();
textbox4Input.value = textbox4;
textbox5Input.value = textbox5;
if (textbox4 === textbox5) {
errorMessage += "Favorite fictional place & favorite real place cannot be the same.<br>"
}
return errorMessage;
}
I created a form dynamically with javascript. Now I have to add validations on the form (only mandatory validations) on click of the button which is also dynamically created. Now the issue I am facing is that whenever I try to add addEventListener on the button exactly after creating it, it is giving me error.
(
function init() {
console.log("div created");
// create a new div element
var newDiv = document.createElement("div");
newDiv.id = "registration_form";
var createForm = document.createElement("form");
newDiv.appendChild(createForm);
var heading = document.createElement("h2");
heading.innerHTML = "Registration Form";
createForm.appendChild(heading);
var linebreak = document.createElement('br');
createForm.appendChild(linebreak);
createElement(createForm, 'label','','','Name: ');
createElement(createForm, 'text', 'dname', '','');
createSpanTag(createForm,'nameError');
breakTag(createForm);breakTag(createForm);
createElement(createForm, 'label','','','Email: ');
createElement(createForm, 'email', 'email', '','');
createSpanTag(createForm,'emailError');
createElement(createForm, 'button','Validate','Validate','');
document.getElementsByTagName('button')[0].addEventListener('click',validate());
document.getElementsByTagName('body')[0].appendChild(newDiv);
}
)();
function createElement(formElement,type,name,value, placeholder) {
if(type=='label'){
var element=document.createElement(type);
if(name!='' && value!=''){
element.setAttribute('name',name);
element.setAttribute('value',value);
}
element.innerHTML=placeholder;
formElement.appendChild(element);
} else {
var element=document.createElement('input');
if(type!=''){
element.setAttribute('type',type);
}
if(name!=''){
element.setAttribute('name',name);
}
if(value!=''){
element.setAttribute('value',value);
}
if(placeholder!=''){
element.setAttribute('placeholder',placeholder);
}
formElement.appendChild(element);
}
}
function breakTag(createForm){
createForm.appendChild(document.createElement('br'));
}
function validate(){
}
function createSpanTag(createForm, id){
var element=document.createElement('span');
element.setAttribute('id',id);
createForm.appendChild(element);
}
The second argument of addEventListener needs to be a function.
Change ...
document.getElementsByTagName('button')[0].addEventListener('click',validate())
to ...
document.getElementsByTagName('button')[0].addEventListener('click',validate);
Since your tag name is input, not button. So use input in parameter of the function getElementsByTagName() and then loop through all nodes and find node with type = button.
Try change this line:
document.getElementsByTagName('button')[0].addEventListener('click',validate());
to:
var nodeList = document.getElementsByTagName("input");
for (var i = 0; i < nodeList.length; i++)
{
if (nodeList[i].getAttribute("type") == "button") {
{
nodeList[i].addEventListener('click',validate);
}
}
In my entity (A) has 50 option set. If the user select 10 optionsset value and not selected remaining one, and he/she click save button. In that situation i need to alert user "To fill all the option set". I don't want to get the Schema name for the optionset individually, i need to get all the option set schema name dynamically.
Is it possible? Help me.
I have not tested this function, but you can try this and make changes if needed.
function IsFormValidForSaving(){
var valid = true;
var message = "Following fields are required fields: \n";
Xrm.Page.data.entity.attributes.forEach(function (attribute, index) {
if (attribute.getRequiredLevel() == "required") {
if(attribute.getValue() == null){
var control = attribute.controls.get(0);
// Cheking if Control is an optionset and it is not hidden
if(control.getControlType() == "optionset" && control.getVisible() == true) {
message += control.getLabel() + "\n";
}
valid = false;
}
}
});
if(valid == false)
{
alert(message);
}
}
Ref: Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 Validate required form javascript
Required fields individual alert fire before the on save event. If you wish to prevent the single alert routine for all unfilled option sets you need to remove the requirement constraint and manage the constraint yourself, probably in your on save handler. I’m just writing the idea here (not tested).
// enter all optionsets ids
var OptionSets50 = ["new_optionset1","new_optionset2","new_optionset50"];
var dirtyOptions = [];
function MyOptionSet(id) {
var mos = this;
var Obj = Xrm.Page.getAttribute(id);
var Ctl = Xrm.Page.getControl(id);
Obj.addOnChange(
function () {
if (Obj.getValue() != null)
delete dirtyOptions[id];
else
dirtyOptions[id] = mos;
});
this.GetLabel = function() {
return Ctl.getLabel();
}
if (Obj.getValue() == null)
dirtyOptions[id] = mos;
}
function OnCrmPageLoad() {
for(var x in OptionSets50) {
OptionSets50 [x] = new MyOptionSet(OptionSets50 [x]);
}
Xrm.Page.data.entity.addOnSave(OnCrmPageSave);
}
//check for dirty options and alert
function OnCrmPageSave(execContext) {
var sMsg = "The following Optinsets Are Required: ";
var sLen = sMsg.length;
for(var os in dirtyOptions) {
sMsg += dirtyOptions[os].GetLabel() + "\n";
}
if (sMsg.length > sLen) {
execContext.getEventArgs().preventDefault();
alert(sMsg);
}
}
I am using below code to validate hexadecimal numbers in a text box
$(document).ready(function () {
$('#vbus-id').keyup(function () {
var text_value = document.getElementById("vbus-id").value;
if (!text_value.match(/\b[0-9A-F]\b/gi)) {
document.getElementById("vbus-id").value = "";
// document.getElementById("vbus-id").focus();
var message = "You have entered a invalid id.Vbus id ranges from 0 to F in hexadecimal";
test.innerHTML = message;
}
});
});
If any numbers entered other than 0 to 9 and A to F it will clear the textbox and show a warning message below. But if I add a correct number after that, the warning mesage is not clearing. How to clear the warning message if I enter a valid entry after a wrong entry ?
jsFiddle
You've defined what happens if the form doesn't validate (set the message), but you also need the define what to happens in the opposite case (else):
$(document).ready(function () {
$('#vbus-id').keyup(function () {
var text_value = document.getElementById("vbus-id").value;
if (!text_value.match(/\b[0-9A-F]\b/gi)) {
document.getElementById("vbus-id").value = "";
// document.getElementById("vbus-id").focus();
var message = "You have entered a invalid id.Vbus id ranges from 0 to F in hexadecimal";
test.innerHTML = message;
} else test.innerHTML = '';
});
});
You could try always setting the message to blank first on keyup...
$('#vbus-id').keyup(function () {
test.innerHTML = "";
var text_value = document.getElementById("vbus-id").value;
...
I would like to ask somebody how i can determine what key was pressed in a textarea....
need to write a little javascript code.. a user type in a textarea and i need to write it in a while he writing so the keydown, keypress event handle this functionality, also need to change the text color if a user typed a "watched" word (or the word what he wrote contains the "watched" word/words ) in the textarea.. any idea how i can handle it ??
till now did the text is appear in the <div>, but with this i have a problem.. can't check if the text is in the "watched"... the document.getElementById('IDOFTHETEXTAREATAG'); on keypress is not really works because i got back the whole text inside of the textarea.....
So how i can do it ? any ideas ??? "(Pref. in Mozilla FireFox)
Well, if you were using jQuery, you could do this given that the id of your textarea was 'ta':
$('#ta').keypress(function (evt) {
var $myTextArea = $(this); // encapsulates the textarea in the jQuery object
var fullText = $myTextArea.val(); // here is the full text of the textarea
if (/* do your matching on the full text here */) {
$myTextArea.css('color', 'red'); // changes the textarea font color to red
}
};
I suggest you use the 'onkeyup' event.
$( element ).keyup( function( evt ) {
var keyPressed = evt.keyCode;
//...
});
I have this made like this (plain JS, no JQuery):
function keyDown(e) {
var evt=(e)?e:(window.event)?window.event:null;
if(evt){
if (window.event.srcElement.tagName != 'TEXTAREA') {
var key=(evt.charCode)?evt.charCode: ((evt.keyCode)?evt.keyCode:((evt.which)?evt.which:0));
}
}
}
document.onkeydown=keyDown;
This script is in head tag. I am catching this in all textarea tags. Modify it for your purpose.
2 textareas.
In the first textarea I need to write the words or chars what you want to "watch" in the typing text.
In the second textarea I need to type text, so when I type text, under the textarea need to write what is in the textarea (real time) and highlight the whole word if contains the watched words or chars.
For example:
watched: text locker p
text: lockerroom (need to highlite the whole word because it contains the locker word) or apple (contains the p)
who I can do if a word not start with watched word/char to highlite the whole word?
JavaScript:
var text;
var value;
var myArray;
var found = new Boolean(false);
function getWatchedWords()
{
myArray = new Array();
text = document.getElementById('watched');
value = text.value;
myArray = value.split(" ");
for (var i = 0;i < myArray.length; i++)
{
document.getElementById('writewatched').innerHTML += myArray[i] + "<newline>";
}
}
function checkTypeing()
{
var text2 = document.getElementById('typeing');
var value2 = text2.value;
var last = new Array();
last = value2.split(" ");
if (last[last.length-1] == "")
{
if(found)
{
document.getElementById('writetyped').innerHTML += "</span>";
document.getElementById('writetyped').innerHTML += " ";
}
else
document.getElementById('writetyped').innerHTML += " ";
}
else
check(last[last.length-1]);
}
function check(string)
{
for (var i = 0; i < myArray.length; i++)
{
var occur = string.match(myArray[i]);
if(occur != null && occur.length > 0)
{
if (!found)
{
found = true;
document.getElementById('writetyped').innerHTML += "<span style='color: blue;'>";
}
else
{
found = true;
}
}
else
{
}
}
if(found)
{
document.getElementById('writetyped').innerHTML += string;
}
else
{
document.getElementById('writetyped').innerHTML += string;
}
}
