I am trying to replace text via jquery in a modal. My ".replace" piece works great in my console, when the modal is already visible and open, and the text "Change me" is displayed on the screen. But, I can't get it to work without the text already being visible. I believe we're using 'reveal'. Any ideas?
The modal fires via a button click, if that helps. A Timeout isn't ideal.
$("*").each(function () {
if ($(this).children().length == 0) {
$(this).text($(this).text().replace("Change me", "I have been changed"));
}
});
}
<div id="myModal" class="reveal-modal" style="visibility: visible">
<div class="my-modal-content">
<div class="myText">Change me</div>
</div>
</div>
Check out the docs for foundations inclusion of the reveal.js modal plugin here
From that page
Previous versions of the reveal plugin emitted un-namespaced open, opened, close and closed events, however, these have been replaced by the namespaced open.fndtn.reveal, opened.fndtn.reveal, close.fndtn.reveal and closed.fndtn.reveal events. The un-namespaced events will be fully deprecated when Foundation 5.4 is released.
So depending on which version of reveal.js you're using, it looks like there are events you can hook into.
From that page, here's the snippet for hooking into the opened event:
$(document).on('opened.fndtn.reveal', '[data-reveal]', function () {
var newText = $('.myText').text().replace("Change me", "I have been changed");
$('.myText').text(newText );
});
Edited to add--for older versions, i believe this is the way to hook into the event:
$('#myModal').bind('reveal:open', function () {
var newText = $('.myText').text().replace("Change me", "I have been changed");
$('.myText').text(newText );
});
"Change me" would be text node children of .myText ? , or false at if ($(this).children().length == 0) ? Additionally , $("*") would select html and body elements , changing both html and body at call to .text() ?
Try
$("body *").each(function () {
if ($(this).children(":contains('Change me')")) {
$(this).text($(this).text().replace("Change me", "I have been changed"));
}
});
<script src="https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.11.1/jquery.min.js"></script>
<div id="myModal" class="reveal-modal" style="visibility: visible">
<div class="my-modal-content">
<div class="myText">Change me</div>
<div class="myText">Do not change me</div>
</div>
</div>

I have multiple modals with different id's.
<div id="#Modal" tabindex="-1" class= active" style="left: Opx;" role="dialog" >
<div id="#Modal-text' tabindex="0">
<div class="container">
<div class= close-btn">
<a class="closer noprint href=" javascript:void(0) aria-label="Close dialog" tabindex="0"></a>
</div>
</div>
<div class= content">..modal content goes here</div>
<div class="focus-guard" tabindex="0"></div>
</div>
<div id="#Modal-anothertext' tabindex="0"></div>
<div id="#Modal-sample' tabindex="0"></div>
</div>
The jquery function add a focus guard div and add an event listener to it whenever a tab or keyboard navigation, through it, it will go again to the close button:
"use strict"
jquery(document).ready(function ($) {
// Check if modal exists
if ($(" [id+='Modal-']").length {
// Check id's if containstring of 'Modal-' and check if modal has child with #focus-guard
if ($("[id*='Modal-']").find("focus-guard").length === 0) {
console.log("does not exist");
const focusGuard = document.createElement("div");
focusGuard.setAttribute("class", "focus-guard");
focusGuard.setAttribute("tabindex", "0");
// Add focus guard to parent
$("[id*='Modal-']").append(focusGuard);
// The closer button is being added in the DOM upon clicking modal, that's why I used DOMNodeInserted
$(document).bind("DOMNodeInserted", function (e) {
if (e.target.className="container") {
const close = document.querySelector(".closer");
console.log(close);
focusGuard.addEventListener("focus", () => {
close.focus();
});
}
});
}
});
}
Have tried also some possible selectors and isolating a single modal.
Unfortunately, the eventlistener on focus guard div does not trigger and I cannot target speciffically the "closer noprint" class.
I know it's not right to have a selector like an array("[id=Modal-]"*) to refer to the parent element of the modal but since it's multiple, not sure if this will be the right thing to do. Might there be a simple solution for this one.
Also stuck with a function that focuses on the last item clicked after dismissing the modal.
I have three DIV's wit this ID's (#firstCTA, #secondCTA y #thirdCTA) and I need to detect one by one when the user do SCROLL DOWN to change styles or active an animation. I active an ALERT in this example
HTML5 code
<div class="container-fluid" id="firstCTA">
<div class="row">
<div class="col-12 text-center">
<img src="assets/imgs/clic-aqui.png" class="arrow-size">
<h3 class="cta-here-text"><b>Da clic aquĆ</b></h3>
<br>
</div>
</div>
</div>
JS Code
$(window).scroll(function(){
if ($('#firstCTA').offset().top >= $(window).scrollTop()){
//do something
alert('hey bbay');
}
else{
//do something else
}
});
Really this code dont works because dont detect the ID. The change of styles in the DIV, only be active, when user do SCROLL DOWN and detect the ID.
I suggest you to use some library like waypoints
Where you could do
var waypoint = new Waypoint({
element: document.getElementById('firstCTA'),
handler: function(direction) {
// do your stuff (you can use "this" to refer to the element)
}
})
Or, with jQuery
$('#firstCTA').waypoint(function(direction) {
// do your stuff
}, options)
This is my code:
<div class="titfx">
<div class="clk1">CLICKME</div>
</div>
<div class="here" style="display:none;">info for here</div>
<script src="https://code.jquery.com/jquery-3.3.1.js" integrity="sha256-2Kok7MbOyxpgUVvAk/HJ2jigOSYS2auK4Pfzbm7uH60=" crossorigin="anonymous"></script>
<script>
$(document).ready(function() {
$('.clk1').on("click", function(event) {
//first code
var here = $(this).parent(".titfx").next(".here");
here.toggle();
//second code
if (!here.is(event.target) && here.has(event.target).length === 0) {
here.hide();
}
});
});
</script>
What the first part of javascript code does: When the word "CLICKME" is clicked, then the hidden div with text "info for here" shows.
What the second part of javascript code should do: When any part of the screen that is not class="here" is clicked on, then the text "info for here" should hide. The second part of my code is unable to achieve that. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. Please help me fix this issue.
you need to bind two event listeners to achieve this, one for the "clk1" element, and one for the whole page.
when fires document click event, just hide the text,
when fires ".clk1" click element, you need to stop propagation first and then write the toggle behaviour.
this is my solution
$(document).ready(function() {
$('.clk1').on("click", function(event) {
//first code
event.stopPropagation();
$(".here").toggle();
});
//second code
$(document).on("click", function(event){
$(".here").hide();
});
});
<script src="https://cdnjs.cloudflare.com/ajax/libs/jquery/3.3.1/jquery.min.js"></script>
<div class="titfx">
<div class="clk1">CLICKME</div>
</div>
<div class="here" style="display:none;">info for here</div>
Here is a potential solution. The first click binding works for the toggle logic. However, for your second scenario, you said you want it to close them if they click any where on the page, other than the two areas. In that regard, you are concerned with the click events for the body, not just the two areas.
The second logic binds to the body, and checks to see if the clicked element is a child of the .clk1 or the .here. If it is not a child of either one, it will hide the .here.
The css was added to force the page size to be larger than just the html provided so you could actually click on something not them, :)
$(document).ready(function() {
$('.clk1').on("click", function(event) {
var here = $(this).parent(".titfx").next(".here");
here.toggle();
});
$(document.body).on('click', function(event){
var clickedElement = $(event.target);
if (!clickedElement.closest('.clk1').length
&& !clickedElement.closest('.here').length) {
$('.here').hide();
}
});
});
body {
min-width: 800px;
min-height: 600px;
}
<script src="https://cdnjs.cloudflare.com/ajax/libs/jquery/3.3.1/jquery.min.js"></script>
<div class="titfx">
<div class="clk1">CLICKME</div>
</div>
<div class="here" style="display:none;">info for here</div>
Im working on a project and on my .ejs file I have a popup:
<div id="just-claimed-popup2" class="popup">
<h6>You just claimed:</h6>
<h2 id="card-just-claimed"></h2>
<p class="show-message">Show this Screen!</p>
<button id="deletePromoFromHome" class="close-button">Close</button>
</div>
On my javascript file I have a code that creates cards on a loop:
$('#promotion-container footer').before(`
<div class="promo card promo${i}">
<div class="promo-wrapper">
<div class="promo-header">
<h2 class="promo-title">${eventName}</h2>
<span class="close-promo-wrapper"><span class="close-promo"></span></span>
</div>
<div class="promo-info">
<span class="promo-details">
<p class="promo-detail promo-location">${eventLocation}</p>
<p class="promo-detail promo-date">${eventDate}</p>
<p class="promo-detail promo-time">${eventTime}
<span class="promo-description"></span>
<span class="buttonRedemp${i}">
<button class="redddButt load-button2" data="Reedem Card">Reedem Card</button>
</span>
</div>
</div>
</div>
`)
I want the card to disappear when people click 'redddButt', this is my code:
$(`#promotion-container .promo${i} .redddButt`).on('click', function(e){
e.stopPropagation();
$(`div.promo${i}`).addClass('toDelete')
var esc = $.Event("keyup", { keyCode: 27 });
$(document).trigger(esc);
$('#just-claimed-popup2').addClass('reveal');
$('#card-just-claimed').text(eventName);
$('#deletePromoFromHome').click(function(){
$('div.toDelete').fadeOut("slow")
})
})
PROBLEM: it always removes just the first card clicked and if you click the button in another one it stops working, so it only works once. If I console.log something the click event is happening, it's just not running the code inside of it.
Try changing your handler to:
$('body').on('click', `#promotion-container .promo${i} .redddButt`, function(e){
//function stuff here
}
The problem might be that elements are generated after the handler is attached.
Your code is missing some few closing tags. Since the cards are dynamically generated, try using (not tested):
var buttonContext;
$(document).on('click', '#promotion-container .promo .redddButt', function() {
buttonContext = $(this);
// Something
});
$('#deletePromoFromHome').click(function(){
buttonContext.closest('.promo').fadeOut("slow");
});
You can omit this line: $(div.promo${i}).addClass('toDelete');
The cards may have a single class (.promo) instead of (.promo#), unless may be you want to do further manipulation (say different styling etc).

I'm working on an application in which mimics desktop style application windows that open, minimize and close. I've managed to get them to expand and collapse, but I am unable to get the to close, and I can't figure out why. I need to be able to close the current div by clicking a button, see code / eg. below.
<script>
$(document).ready(function () {
$("form.common").first().show();
$(".expand").click(function () {
$(this).parents().next("form.common").show();
})
$(".collapse").click(function () {
$(this).parents().next("form.common").hide();
});
$(".close").click(function () {
$(this).parents().next("div.module").hide();
});
});
</srcipt>
<div id="task_manager" class="module"> <!-- Need the x with class close to hide this div-->
<h3>Task Manager</h3> <!-- This header and below icons are shown when minimized-->
<div class="module_actions">
<span class="icons_small right close">X</span>
<span class="icons_small right collapse">-</span>
<span class="icons_small right expand">+</span>
</div>
<form class="common">
<fieldset>
<legend> Some Titlee/legend>
</fieldset>
</form>
</div>
Can anyone see why this is not hiding the div?
THanks,
The answer is in the question:
$(".close").click(function () {
$(this).closest("div.module").hide();
});
Demo fiddle
Also you should change your calls to parents() to just parent() so you just go up one level in the DOM tree
You had a missing < in <legend> Some Titlee/legend>, after that it works.
Check here
This should work :
$(".close").click(function () {
$(this).parent().hide();
});
JSFiddle
Doc : parent()
