I am trying to make something, where, if you input your minecraft username, you get your profile icon.
I found this website Minotar, where you could get icons by the url. So, I tried making a JavaScript script out of it, and display it. But, the picture doesn't want to show up when I click "Go!".
What have I done wrong?
Here is my code.
<script>
function usernameget(){
var username = document.getElementById("username").value;
var url = "http://www.minotar.net/avatar/" + username + "/150";
document.getElementById("usernamepicture").setAttribute("src", url);
}
</script>
<form>
<img id="usernamepicture" src="">
<p>Your Minecraft Username</p>
<input type="text" id="username">
<button onclick="usernameget()">Go!</button>
</form>
Set you button type to button.
<button onclick="usernameget()" type="button">Go!</button>
This will stop it from submitting your form.
See this fiddle: http://jsfiddle.net/512p1L89/
However I think the better solution would be to remove the form tag unless you do require the user to later submit the form back to the server.

I would like to create a sort of login page. Which links to a href depending on the input of the user.
So i have a text input part and a login button.
Then it should go to the website depending on the text input.
Example: users fills in 1234 and clicks on the login button, then the website:
example.com/1234 opens up.
I tried but i cant get it worked.
<input type=text id='token' name="token"/>
<input type=button name=login value="login" onClick=changeQuery()/>
changeQuery(){
var input_query=document.getElementById('sq').value;
window.location="http://www.google.com/"+input_query+"myString";
}
There are many issues with your code...
HTML attribute should be in quotes (so change things like onclick=changeQuery() to onclick="changeQuery()")
Your function does not start with the keyword function
Your textbox control has an id of token... so in the example you have, there is no sq for the getElementById to find
And I'm not sure why you're adding "MyString" at the end of the URL, but that might be part of your intended code
The result should be something like this...
function changeQuery(){
var input_query = document.getElementById('token').value;
//window.location = "http://www.google.com/" + input_query + "myString";
console.log("http://www.google.com/" + input_query + "myString");
}
<input type="text" id="token" name="token"/>
<input type="button" name="login" value="login" onClick="changeQuery()"/>
(Please note, I've commented out the window.location and instead put a console.log so you can see what is produced without it actually navigating to another page)
function changeQuery() {
var input_query =
document.getElementById('token').value;
window.location = "https://www.google.com/search?
q=" + input_query;
}
Above is the correct code for what you want, but google doesn't allow some different origin to make search request.
Refused to display 'https://www.google.com/search?q=somequery' in a frame because it set 'X-Frame-Options' to 'sameorigin'.If you try to redirect some other origin it will work.
I´m trying to submit a HTML form while keeping content of displayed page on the screen and triggering browser to make an offer to save username and password.
<div id="signInForm" class="init">
<form>
<input id="username" type="text" placeholder="Username">
<br><br>
<input id="password" type="password" placeholder="Password">
<br><br>
<button type="submit">Sign in</button>
</form>
</div>
I´ve found out, that keeping content can be done various ways:
preventDefault(), onsubmit="return false", action="javascript:".
I successfully made work each of them. But each of them prevents browser (Chrome and Edge) from doing an offer of saving username and password. As long as I´ve learnt, an HTML form has a default behavior on submit which is navigating to the submission link. My theory is that the "navigating event" itself is what triggers an offer to save username and password. If I´m right, the only way to reach my goal is probably based on letting submission happen default way, while making browser keep the content somehow.
Bur all I ever get after hitting <button type="submit">Sign in</button> is a blank page.
Is it even possible to overcome this simply in Apps Script? Or am I missing something basic?
I tried to programmatically reload my page, but wasn´t able to do so. I don´t know how to work with reload().
I´ve tried this:
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
<body>
<div id="x">I´m ORIGINAL page</div>
<button onclick="document.getElementById('x').innerHTML= 'I´m EDITED page';">edit page</button>
<br>
<button onclick="myFunction()">Reload page</button>
</body>
<script>
function myFunction() {
window.location.reload(true);
}
</script>
</html>
The snippet above works for me in Stackoverflow snippet editor, but it doesn´t work in my published GAS web app.
EDIT Probably close to solution for my problem is answer in this post: Redirecting from doPost() in Google Web App, HTML form with App script where the author suggests this:
<form method="post" action="<?!= ScriptApp.getService().getUrl() ?>">
<input type="submit" value="submit">
</form>
But it does nothing for me when copied and pasted and I don´t know how to implement it any other way. It looks general...
I was having the same issue when trying to avoid the page to reload to a blank page. The solution that worked for me was a piece of code that is on Google Apps Script Documentation (I leave the link here)
I hope this solution can help you to solve the blank reloading issue.
<script>
// Prevent forms from submitting.
function preventFormSubmit() {
var forms = document.querySelectorAll('form');
for (var i = 0; i < forms.length; i++) {
forms[i].addEventListener('submit', function(event) {
event.preventDefault();
});
}
}
window.addEventListener('load', preventFormSubmit);
</script>
Im currently working on a web application, where i need to be able to take a picture in a browser using a mobile device.
I'am currently able to upload this picture to my storage on googlecloud, but i am having some troubles with the URL of said picture. The URL of the picture is defined in an action(HTML attribute). And im struggling to see how this action field can be dynamic.
It seems i cant put in the variable name for my URL in the action field.
Is there any other way to do this?
Im sorry in advance for my bad english.
<form id="BilleddeUpload" action="url" method="POST" enctype="multipart/form-data">
<input type="file" accept="/*" name="file">
<button>Submit</button>
</form>
<script>
function gogogoogle(){
var billedenavn = document.getElementById("BilledeUpload");
var url = "https://storage.googleapis.com/notgonnaputreallinkhere/"
+ prompt("Insert picture name here.");
billedenavn.action=url;
}
</script>
<p>Billede på google cloud </p>
<button onclick="gogogoogle()">
Hvad skal den hedde????
</button>
You already have defined a variable to hold a reference to the form billedenavn.
This line
var billedenavn = document.getElementById("BilledeUpload")
and a few lines later you wrote
document.getElementById("BilledeUpload").action = url;
which contains a typo in the form ID. But why not directly write:
billedenavn.action = url;
their is some syntax error.
put function [and it's body] into script tag,
and change form id from BilleddeUpload to BilledeUpload.
I have searched Unbounce and Google for documentation, but can't find a way to make this work. Any help is greatly appreciated!
Use case:
I have a test page setup in Unbounce and it would be great when a user lands on the page and submits the form that the value being generated through the script below in the hidden field is added to the current URL upon submission.
It's important that if the user lands on the page from an advertising campaign that the value is added to URL and does not replace it.
Example:
User lands on testpage.com or testpage.com?qs=3134728&pcd=THANKS20&dclid=CNi4wvCv39cCFZdFNwodE_wALA
Unique ID is created with the following JavaScript and added to a hidden field:
<script type="text/javascript">
$(document).ready(function() {
var id = new Date().toISOString().replace(/[-tTzZ:.]/g, '');
$('#lead_id').val(id);
});
</script>
User clicks submit and and is redirected to a thankyou page with the value of the hidden field passed in the URL:
testpage.com/thank-you?lead_id=1234
testpage.com/thankyou?qs=3134728&pcd=THANKS20&dclid=CNi4wvCv39cCFZdFNwodE_wALA&lead_id=1234
I should also mention that I can not edit the html of the form so this would need to happen with JavaScript as Unbounce provides a space to add custom code.
Is the form method get? If it is post it wont append that to the URL for the hidden field.
Your approach seems right however if this is the HTML on page:
<form action="http://example.com" method="get" id="theForm">
<input type="hidden" value="xyz" />
<button type="submit">Send</button>
</form>
You can use some JS code like one of the following to modify this...however you'll want to verify that everything still works as expected:
document.getElementById('theForm').action = "http://another.example.com";
document.getElementById('theForm').method = "get";
I need to change the form to a single link instead of post as below:
Instead of http://example.hu/search.php?product=shoes
I want the form to lead user only to http://example.hu/products/shoes
I have fixed the rewrite and everything. Only I need the help with the form in the homepage. Thanks for your help.
You need to change the form up a little. Instead of using the action parameter on <form> to send the user along, instead you'll need to drop the form tag and do some javascript trickery to make the url like you want. Here's an example that uses jquery, but it could also easily be done in vanilla JS. http://jsfiddle.net/7czFq/
The answer to my question was this:
Just go to this form action + name using javascript when submit is pressed, like this:
<form>
<div><input type="text" placeholder="Search for a something..." name="q">
<button type="submit" onclick="window.location.href = this.form.action + encodeURIComponent(document.getElementsByName('q')[0].value); return false; ">Search</button></div>
</form>
The form will send user to a URL like http://localhost.hu/search/q/
