I am working on a angular form and this is my first experience with Angular Form. I am able to submit the form successfully. But I want to do 2 more things:
Validate the form.
Hide the form if valid and show a div with confirmation.
Right now am able to hide the form using ng-click & ng-hide properties of the form. But I want this hiding to happen based on the validation. I am looking to validate email, by min & max length & required.
The form code:
<form id="signup-form" ng-submit="processForm()" ng-hide="showConfirm" >
<div class="col-md-12"><h4 class="col-md-12" >What do you think?</h4></div>
<div class="form-group col-md-12">
<div class="row">
<div class="radio col-md-6">
<label>
<input type="checkbox" ng-model="formData.option1" >
Option1
</label>
</div>
<div class="radio col-md-6">
<label>
<input type="checkbox" ng-model="formData.option2" >
Option2
</label>
</div>
</div>
</div>
<div class="col-md-12 contact">
<h4 class="col-md-12" >Want us to contact you?</h4>
<div class="form-group">
<div class="textbox col-md-12">
<label>Name </label>
<input type="text" ng-model="formData.name" >
</div>
<div class="textbox col-md-12">
<label>Email </label>
<input type="text" ng-model="formData.email" >
</div>
<div class="textbox col-md-12">
<label>Phone </label>
<input type="text" ng-model="formData.phone" >
</div>
</div>
</div>
<div class="form-group row">
<div class="col-md-12 ">
<div class="col-md-12 contact">
<button type="submit" class="btn btn-primary" ng-click="showConfirm = ! showConfirm">Submit</button>
</div>
</div>
</div>
</form>
<div class="col-md-12 confirmation" ng-show="showConfirm">
<h2 >Thanks alot for your feedback.</h1>
</div>
The js code:
$scope.processForm = function() {
$http.post('http://localhost/api/node.json', $scope.formData)
.success(function(data) {
$scope.formData = {};
$state.go('main.start');
});
};
Give your form a name and on ng-submit, check the validity of the form with the $valid property.
<form id="signup-form" name="signUpForm" novalidate ng-submit="signUpForm.$valid && processForm()" ng-hide="showConfirm">
Add validation attributes to your inputs. ex:
<input type="text" ng-model="formData.email" required>
Then once the form is submitted, set the showConfirm property to true
Read more about validation here https://docs.angularjs.org/guide/forms and http://www.ng-newsletter.com/posts/validations.html
Something similar to the following should work.
HTML
<form name="signup-form" class="signup-form" novalidate method="post" ng-submit="processForm()" ng-hide="!signup-form.$invalid" ng-show="signup-form.$invalid" >
<div class="form-group">
<label>Name</label>
<input type="text" class="form-control input-lg" name="username" placeholder="Username" ng-model="user.username" ng-required="true">
<label>Email</label>
<input type="email" class="form-control input-lg" name="email" placeholder="Email" ng-model="user.email" ng-maxlength="20" ng-minlength="10" ng-required="true">
</div>
</form>
<div ng-hide="!signup-form.$invalid" ng-show="signup-form.$invalid">

In this code, what happens when I change checkbox value (i.e. If I click on credit card checkbox) then <div class="creditcard"> shows, and if I click on paypal then <div class="paypal"> shows.
Now, when I choose credit card and then click on submit button, then form does not submit. And if I check paypal checkbox and click submit button then nothing happen again. I don't understand why.
How can I submit form whether I choose credit card checkbox or paypal?
$(document).ready(function() {

You should be using radio buttons instead of checkboxes. I cleaned up your code also to use one event handler.
I also updated so the appropriate fields are dynamically set as required.
$(document).ready(function() {
$('input.payment').on('change', function() {
$("input[name='cardNumber']").prop("required",false);
$("input[name='paypal_email']").prop("required",false);
$(".creditcard").hide();
$(".paypal").hide();
if($(this).val() == "PayPal"){
$(".paypal").show();
$("input[name='paypal_email']").prop("required",true);
}
else{
$("input[name='cardNumber']").prop("required",true);
$(".creditcard").show();
}
});
});

I want to know how to make the bootstrap custom validation also show the specific field where the form is not filled.
You can observe the normal form shows or goes to the specific field which is not filled when the form is submitted
where bootstrap custom validation doesn't do that.
This is the code with out bootstrap custom validation

If you remove novalidate="" from <form class="needs-validation was-validated" novalidate=""> you get the same result as without Bootstrap validation.
novalidate prevents the browser to validate the form so you can apply the custom behaviour of Bootstrap.
If you want to add scroll to id after the validation I suppose you have to do by yourself or check if there is such config in the library you are using.
I have updated the code by using some JavaScript code.
And it's working. :)
// Example starter JavaScript for disabling form submissions if there are invalid fields
(function() {
'use strict';
window.addEventListener('load', function() {
// Fetch all the forms we want to apply custom Bootstrap validation styles to
var forms = document.getElementsByClassName('needs-validation');
// Loop over them and prevent submission
var validation = Array.prototype.filter.call(forms, function(form) {
form.addEventListener('submit', function(event) {
if (form.checkValidity() === false) {
event.preventDefault();
event.stopPropagation();
var invalidOptions = document.querySelectorAll(
".form-control:invalid");
invalidOptions.forEach(function(element) {
element.parentNode.childNodes.forEach(function(node) {
if (node.className == 'valid-feedback') {
node.className = 'invalid-feedback';
node.innerText =
'Please choose a Gender';
}
});
});
$('html, body').animate({
scrollTop: $(invalidOptions[0]).offset().top
}, 2000);
}
form.classList.add('was-validated');
}, false);
});
}, false);
})();

I have an asp core form that transfers data to my "Create" action. I have inputs with "asp-for" attribute to initialize specific columns in my db and i have a "Content" column which i want to initialize by fetching innerText from element. So how can i send innerText at the time when i submit form and to send it all together to the action? And is it possible to create custom asp core tag that would fetch innerText? Thanks.

ASP.NET MVC, and I could say most MVCs frameworks, performs post using HTTP Posts (I know it sounds redundant). It means that it will only post values from enabled input elements. So, from the browser point of view, your div is not different from any other div.
One possible solution is just adding a hidden input with that very same value:
<input asp-for="Foo" class="form-control" type="hidden" />

add name in input and select
For a form element's value to be included in the serialized string, the element must have a name attribute.
$(document).ready(function() {
$("form").submit(function(e) {
alert($("form").serialize());
console.log(alert($("form").serialize()));
e.preventDefault();
});
});

The issue is because none of your input elements, ie. the input, select, textarea etc., have name attributes.
These are required to make the HTML valid, and are also what the serialize() method uses as the keys to associate the values to.
Add name attributes on the HTML fields and your JS code will work fine.

The Angular Controller for the Forget password is as follows
var myApp = angular.module('Login_Upquire_Angular',[]);
myApp.controller("ForgetPassword",['$scope',function($scope){
$scope.passwordGenerator=function(){
var email_id=$scope.ForgetPassEmailId;
if (email_id=="abc#gmail.com"){
console.log("Reset Request is accepted");
window.location="/login.html";
}
}
}]);
As you can see based on my Angular js File, I want to check whether the given password matches with abc#gmail.com, if yes then it should print on my console "REset Request is accepted" and take me back to login page(/login.html) and to the form element namely login-form. Yet I am getting the following error
Cannot POST /login.html
Can somebody help me with this? I have tried but couldn't find a solution for it.
You'll have to do some asynchronous validation. Something like this: http://www.codelord.net/2014/11/02/angularjs-1-dot-3-taste-async-validators/
