jQuery validation in Bootstrap tabs - javascript

I am using bootstrap validation within bootstrap tabs and I have it working for the most part.
However, I am using this piece of code to take you to the closest error it finds.
$("#application").validate({
ignore: "",
rules: {
resumeField: {
required: true,
require_from_group: [1,".required-group"]
},
resumePaste: {
required: function()
{
CKEDITOR.instances['resumePaste'].updateElement();
},
require_from_group: [1,".required-group"],
}
},
messages: {
resumeField: "Please select your Resume",
resumePaste: "Please enter the contents of your resume"
},
highlight: function(element) {
$(element).closest('.form-group').addClass('has-error');
$(element).closest('.form-group').addClass('has-error');
var tab = $(element).closest('.tab-pane').attr('id');
$('.nav-tabs a[href="#' + tab + '"]').tab('show');
},
unhighlight: function(element) {
$(element).closest('.form-group').removeClass('has-error');
CKEDITOR.instances['resumePaste'].updateElement();
},
errorElement: 'span',
errorClass: 'help-block',
errorPlacement: function(error, element) {
if (element.parent('.input-group').length) {
error.insertAfter(element.parent());
} else {
error.insertAfter(element);
}
},
submitHandler: function() {
return false;
}
});
Here is the HTML markup for the tabs:
<div class="panel with-nav-tabs panel-primary">
<div class="panel-heading">
<ul class="nav nav-tabs">
<li class="active">Step 1 - Résumé</li>
<li>Step 2 - Questions</li>

<li>Step 4 - Submit</li>

<div class="panel-body">

The issue is, i have 4 tabs and every one it finds an error on it marks it as active which messes it up.
Is there a way to limit the closest() to just 1 instance and not all?
If im on tab 4 and there are errors on 1 and 2, my goal is to just take them to the first error which would be tab 1.
Any ideas?

Jquery Repeater, how to make the 'create button' at the bottom?

I understand that the data-repeater-create="" must be inside the id="left_repeater", otherwise it will not function as a create button. Is there a way that the button will function outside the id="left_repeater" or id="right_repeater"?
My goal is when I click add left button, it will only create the left input and vise versa for the add right button. Both of the button is at the very bottom.

js runs on even times of modal opening

I have a strange issue. Maybe someone has encountered similar case. I have a modal window having a dual select list that pops up by a button click. List items can not be selected (activated by mouse click) on the 1st, 3th, 5th.. times of modal opening but selected only on the 2nd, 4th, 6th.. times of modal opening. I wonder if it is a js conflict issue. Any help will be appreciated. Here is the code:

$(this).toggleClass('active');

jQuery click event works only once (Beginner)

I'm a beginner programmer in jQuery and I do not understand why this feature can not perform the second time. The first time the button content changes, after two seconds it returns to the previous state and the second time I can not do the same thing. Please help! Regards
$(document).ready(function() {
$('#registerButtonM').on('click', function() {
$(this).attr("disabled", true);
var btn = '<button type="button" class="btn btn-success" name="register" id="registerButtonM"><i class="fa fa-user-circle"></i> Register</button>';
if ($('#passRegisterM').val().length >= 8) {
$('#footerButtonsM').html('<i class="fa fa-spin fa-circle-o-notch"></i>');
} else {
$('#footerButtonsM').html('<i class="fa fa-spin fa-circle-o-notch"></i>');
setTimeout(function() {
$('#footerButtonsM').html('');
$('#footerButtonsM').html(btn);

Change your #footerButtonsM HTML to
<div class="modal-footer" id="footerButtonsM">
<i class="fa fa-spin fa-circle-o-notch" style='display:none'></i>
<button type="button" class="btn btn-success" name="register" id="registerButtonM"><i class="fa fa-user-circle"></i> Register</button>
</div>
and your jquery code to:
$(document).ready(function() {
var btnWrapper = $('#footerButtonsM');
var loading = $('#footerButtonsM .fa-circle-o-notch');
$('#registerButtonM').on('click', function() {
var btn = $(this);
btn.hide();
loading.show();
if ($('#passRegisterM').val().length <= 8) {
setTimeout(function(){
loading.hide();
btn.show();
}, 2000)
}
});
});
The result will be the same, but the approach is better.
To setup late binding, change
$('#registerButtonM').on('click', function() {
To this:
$(document).on('click', '#registerButtonM', function() {
Since you have remove the html button from the DOM the onclick handler is autmotically garbaged (this makes sense since the element present does not exist).
An alternative is to declare and function named clicker.. When you remove and insert the html simply add the function clicker to the new button
See snippet below
function clicker() {
$(this).attr("disabled", true);
var btn = '<button type="button" class="btn btn-success" name="register" id="registerButtonM"><i class="fa fa-user-circle"></i> Register</button>';
if ($('#passRegisterM').val().length >= 8) {
$('#footerButtonsM').html('<i class="fa fa-spin fa-circle-o-notch"></i>');
} else {
$('#footerButtonsM').html('<i class="fa fa-spin fa-circle-o-notch"></i>');
setTimeout(function() {
$('#footerButtonsM').html('');
$('#footerButtonsM').html(btn);
$("#registerButtonM").on('click', clicker)
}, 2000);
}
}
$(document).ready(function() {
$('#registerButtonM').on('click', clicker);
});
<script src="https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/2.1.1/jquery.min.js"></script>
<div class="modal fade hidden-sm hidden-md hidden-lg" id="registerM" tabindex="-1" role="dialog">

The reason this doesn't work is that you're removing the button on click of the button. This causes it to not be bound any more.
When you do: $('#footerButtonsM').html(''); this removes the button from the dom object and you lose the early binding that you've setup.
Then you put another button back on the page when you do $('#footerButtonsM').html(btn);
Since this is a completely new button it is no longer bound by the click handler that you have setup.
You have a couple options to fix this issue. You can either rebind or a new click handler either early or late binding to the new button.
A quick fix is to change it to late bind by changing :
$('#registerButtonM').on('click', function() {
to be:
$(document).on('click', '#registerButtonM', function() {
Here is a fiddle of this working

Preview tab not showing when press editor buttons

When I type in my textarea once has dected more than 4 characters it enables the preview tab.
If I click on my editor buttons example the button-bold it shows text like **strong text** but even though there is more than 4 characters preview tab does not enabled.
Currently It only enabled when keyup
Question: How can I make sure if I click on a editor button it will
dected how many characters and if greater than 4 will enable tab.
CodePen Example Demo
$('#tab-preview').hide();
$("#textarea_message").on('keyup', function(e){
if ($(this).val().length >= "4") {
$('#tab-preview').show();
}
if ($(this).val().length < "4") {
$('#tab-preview').hide();
}
});

One solution would be to add a 'trigger' for the keyup event on your buttons
$('#button-bold').on('click', function(e) {
markdown_syntax(this.id, "**", "**", 'strong text');
$("#textarea_message").trigger('keyup');
});

Login & Register modal

I've created two form in different php files one is Login form and other is Register form, Then there is two Login and Register buttons in the menu
How can i make these buttons shows their forms in modal?
You can do it with an ajax query so I gonna give you an example that how you can do it:
The HTML and JS:
<body>
<div id="my_modal" class="modal"></div>
<button onclick="showLoginModal()">Login</button>
<button onclick="showRegisterModal()">Register</button>
</body>
<script>
function showLoginModal(){
$.ajax({
url:'php/login_content.php',
type:"GET",
cache:false,
success:function(html){
$("#my_modal").html(html);
$('#my_modal').modal();
}
});
event.preventDefault();
}
function showRegisterModal(){
$.ajax({
url:'php/register_content.php',
type:"GET",
cache:false,
success:function(html){
$("#my_modal").html(html);
$('#my_modal').modal();
}
});
event.preventDefault();
}
</script>
The login_content.php file:
<?php ?><div class="modal-content">
<form action="" method="post">
User
<input name="user_name" id="user_name" type="text"> Password
<input name="user_pass" id="user_pass" type="password">
<button type="submit" id="login">Login</button>
</form>
The register_content.php file:
<?php ?>
<div class="modal-content">
<form action="" method="post">
Username
<input name="user_name" id="user_name" type="text">
Password
<input name="user_pass" id="user_pass" type="password">
Confirm Password
<input name="user_pass" id="user_pass" type="password">
<button type="submit" id="login"> Register</button>
</form></div>
Greetings!
I'll flesh out my comment on Darwin's answer a little more so you can see what I am talking about.
Now, I warn you about having a fallback way to get the user to the login page just in case javascript doesn't work for whatever reason (and there are many reasons why it wouldn't), but that being said.
The code here is not entirely correct as it involves multiple files, for a full working demo please go to This Plunkr
// Code goes here
$(function() {
$('.modal-btn').on('click', function(e) {
e.preventDefault();
var id = this.id;
$('#login-register-modal').load(id + '_content.html', function(response, status) {
if (status == 'success')
$('#login-register-modal').modal();
});
})
});
