Javascript Fade - javascript

$(window).load(function() {
$(".screenLoading").fadeOut('slow');
})
setInterval("loadCont()", 500);
//Loaded
function loadCont(){
$('.container').fadeIn('slow');
return;
}
function loadLogin() {
$('.container').fadeOut('slow', function() {
$('.log').fadeIn('slow');
});
}
I have the javscript code above and am trying to mimic the effect at http://orinukas.com/SoduBendrija/ .
When I click on the right upper link named 'Nariams', the content with headings and paragraph should fade out and the Sign Up form should fade in.
When I click on that link, content fades, sign up form fades in and content fades in too.
I don't want content to fade in.

I have gone through the code which you pasted in http://pastebin.com/gQC5MBWL .
i found one issue in this you are using
setInterval("loadCont()", 500);
//Loaded
function loadCont(){
$('.container').fadeIn('slow');
return;
}
setInterval is calling itself again and again(this will show the content again if you will hide it) so remove this or use setTimeout instead of using setInterval.
Thanks

Replace the below code with you loadLogin function. This should work as wanted.
function loadLogin() {
$('.container').fadeOut('slow');
$('.log').fadeIn('slow');
}

How can I make an HTML element fade away using jQuery?

I have a text box in my HTML file that I'd like to make fade away when a button is clicked. Here is what I have so far:
$("#textButton").click(function() {
// make text dissapear here
});
The id of the text box is textBox. What should I put in the function to make this work?
In your case, your code would look something like this:
$("#textButton").click(function() {
$("#textBox").fadeTo('slow', 0);
});
You use the fadeTo() method in jQuery. The first value would be the speed, and the second value would be how faded you would like it (0 making it disappear).
You can use the following links to explore more about fadeIn & fadeOut functions.
https://api.jquery.com/fadeout/
https://api.jquery.com/fadein/
Code example:
$(document).ready(function(){
$("#textButton").click(function() {
$("p").fadeOut();
);
$("#textButton2").click(function() {
$("p").fadeIn();
});
});

Page FadeIn and FadeOut Transition

I am currently trying to create a script that makes fading transition from page to page when clicking a anchorlink. I have already made the script, but it does not seem to work.
My code look like this:
$("body").load(function() {
$(this).fadeIn(200);
});
$("a").click(function() {
$link = $(this).attr("href");
$("body").fadeOut(200);
window.location.replace($link);
});
It does not seem to make the fadeIn and fadeOut transitions. It is still the normal pageload.
First hide the body of the page on page load then
you need to place the redirecting line in the complete function of fadeOut
Try this code:
$(document).ready(function() {
$('body').hide().fadeIn(200);
$("a").click(function(e) {
e.preventDefault();
$link = $(this).attr("href");
$("body").fadeOut(200,function(){
window.location = $link;
});
});
});
You need to hide the element initially, either with .hide() or with CSS display:none;.
$(document).ready(function() {
$('body').hide().fadeIn(200);
});
You have to use setTimeout to time the window.location.replace() to execute after the current body has faded like :
$("a").click(function() {
$link = $(this).attr("href");
$("body").fadeOut(200);
setTimeout(function(){
window.location.replace($link);
},200);
return false;
});
Remember to return false at then end of the function else the default action of the link click i.e. redirection precedes any other action associated with the anchor.
But, sincerely, this will give you a smooth fading effect from the current page but not a smooth effect on the redirected page unless it's implemented by you.
This is four years later, but just in case someone needs it. I agree with Roko about the flickering, so I initially hid the body with CSS instead of putting .hide() before the fade in effect:
body {
display: none;
}
Also some have mentioned using .fadeOut(), but it doesn't work on Chrome. I switched to .show() and .hide() which seems to work great. It also animates all of the elements as it fades, which produces a need transition without a hefty jQuery plugin.
$(document).ready(function() {
$('body').show(500);
$("a").click(function() {
$link = $(this).attr("href");
setTimeout(function(){
window.location.replace($link);
},1000);
$("body").hide(500);
return false;
});
});
Lastly, I'm using this on a page that contains click-to-scroll navigation like most one-pagers, as well as opening new tabs with target="_blank", so I changed $("a") to $(".transition-link") and added class="transition-link" to the links I want to navigate from.

Login slider with jQuery issues

I want to make a login slider with jQuery. You will have a div at the top of your page with a plus image. I want the plus image to be changed into a minus image and the div will slide down. Here is my code but there is a problem.
<script src="_js/jquery-1.7.2.min.js"></script>
<script>
$(document).ready(function() {
$("form").hide();
$(".open").click(function() {
$("form").slideDown("slow");
$(".open").addClass("close");
$(".close").removeClass("open");
$(".close").click(function() {
$("form").slideUp("slow");
$(".close").addClass("open");
$(".open").removeClass("close");
});
});
});
</script>
It works once but if you want to slide it down for the second theme it doesn't work anymore.. Can somebody help my please?
tnx!
Working JSFiddle
Try something different like the following:
$('.open').click(function () {
$('form').slideToggle('slow', function () {
$('.open').toggleClass('form-is-open');
});
});
jQuery offers some toggle functions which supply the desired behaviour. This way you don't need two click handlers or keep track of classes yourself. The above code simply adds a class ('form-is-open') to the button, when the form is shown and removes it, when it is hidden.

Troubleshooting Jquery Show/Hide With Nested Divs

I've managed to get this working with:
<!--
function resettoggle() {
document.getElementById('imagecarousel').style.display = 'none';
}
function displayImages() {
document.getElementById$('#imagecarousel').style.display="block";
}
$('#imagecarousel').fadeIn("slow", function() {
// Animation complete
$('#portfolio').click(function () {
$("#imagecarousel").toggle();
});
});
-->
and adding onLoad="resettoggle()" to the body tag
I now only need help with 2 things:
I have the div set to fadeIn, but it seems to be flying in at the speed of light.
When the page loads, you see a flicker of the slideshow before it disappears. Not sure how to implement the resettoggle function in a way that keeps the hidden div completely out of view?
you can use fadeToggle():
Display or hide the matched elements by animating their opacity.
$("#portfolio").click(function () {
$("#imagecarousel").fadeToggle("slow");
});

Show/Hide div using if then statement (javascript)

I have this show/hide set up here: http://jsfiddle.net/TwDSx/38/
What I would like to do is have the plus sign go away if the content is showing and vise versa if the content isn't showing hide the minus sign and show the plus.
I read articles on this using images to swap out, but nothing with just using html/css. Also, I would like to keep the javascript out of the html if this is possible, and just call for it externally.
any help is appreciated!
EDIT :
You can attach an event handler on your click to toggle the display attribute of the + or - button
$('#hide,#show').click(function(){
$('#hide,#show').toggle();
})
Quick demo:
http://jsfiddle.net/TwDSx/39/
I modified your Javascript a little and extended it so you can keep it in an external file, you just need to ensure you hide the #show div with CSS if you load the page with the content already showing, or vice-versa for the #hide.
The Javascript is as follows:
$('#show').click(function() {
ShowClick();
});
$('#hide').click(function() {
HideClick();
});
//This Javascript can be external
function ShowClick() {
$('#content').toggle('slow');
$('#hide, #show').toggle();
};
function HideClick() {
$('#content').toggle('fast');
$('#show, #hide').toggle();
};
The Js-Fiddle can be seen here: http://jsfiddle.net/mtAeg/
I think the simplest solution is to have only one button, #toggle, and to change the content of that button like so:
$('#toggle').click(function () {
if (this.innerHTML == '-') {
$('#content').slideUp('fast');
this.innerHTML = '+';
} else {
$('#content').slideDown('slow');
this.innerHTML = '-';
}
});
