I want to make the #test element display:block; after clicking on the #button element.
And if I click again I want the #test element to be display:none;.
<body>
<div id="content-wrapper">
<!-- header -->
<header id="top">
<!--- Nav-bar -->
<div id="button">
</div>
</header>
<div id="test">
This is my jQuery code:
$(function() {
$('#button').on('click', function () {
if ($('#test').css("display","block")) {
$('#test').css("display","none");
} else {
$('#test').css("display","block");
}
});
});
I have no idea why it won't work!
.toggle() is okay - but using css classes will give you better control ( say using CSS transitions in the future ) ( stops inline styling, but does the same job )
CSS
#test { display:none; }
#text.on { display:block; }
JS/JQUERY
$('#button').on('click', function () {
$('#test').toggleClass('on');
});
Use .toggle()
Display or hide the matched elements.
$(function () {
$('#button').on('click', function () {
$('#test').toggle();
});
});
if ($('#test').css("display","block")) {
you are setting displayto block instead of checking so it always be true.
if condition should be [FYI]
if ($('#test').css("display") == "block") {
just a small change
$(function() {
$('#button').on('click', function () {
if ($('#test').css("display") === "block") {
$('#test').css("display","none");
} else {
$('#test').css("display","block");
}
});
});
although using jQuery toggle() function will save you some time.

I want to hide a div block and show another div block that is originally hidden (display: none). I do it by triggering onclick a jQuery function that adds or remove a class which has the CSS property 'display: none'.
It works... but just for a second or so. One div hides and the hidden one appears, but only for a second, then it returns to the original situation. How can I make it permanent until the function is triggered again?
HTML
<div class="div1">
Log in
</div>`enter code here`
<div class="div2 notin">
Log out
</div>
CSS
.notin {
display: none;
}
jQuery
$(document).ready(() => {
$(".div1").on("click", "a", () => {
$(".div1").addClass("notin");
$(".div2").removeClass("notin");
});
});
$(document).ready(() => {
$(".div2").on("click", "a", () => {
$(".div2").addClass("notin");
$(".div1`enter code here`").removeClass("notin");
});
});
href='' is telling the link to load the url '' when clicked. Set it to href="#" and it works. You may want to use e.preventDefault() in your click handlers to prevent the hash from appearing in the address bar.
$(".div2").on("click", "a", (e) => {
e.preventDefault();
$(".div2").addClass("notin");
$(".div1").removeClass("notin");
});
$(".div1").on("click", "a", (e) => {
e.preventDefault();
$(".div1").addClass("notin");
$(".div2").removeClass("notin");
});
.notin {
display: none;
}
<script src="https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/2.1.1/jquery.min.js"></script>
<div class="div1">
Log in
</div>
<div class="div2 notin">
Log out
</div>
Don't repeat document ready and its work perfect.And href must have value.
$(document).ready(() => {
$(".div1").on("click", "a", () => {
$(".div1").addClass("notin");
$(".div2").removeClass("notin");
});
$(".div2").on("click", "a", () => {
$(".div2").addClass("notin");
$(".div1").removeClass("notin");
});
});
.notin {
display: none;
}
<script src="https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/2.1.1/jquery.min.js"></script>
<div class="div1">
Log in
</div>
<div class="div2 notin">
Log out
</div>
I am trying to create a button to show all content. I want a fadein on mouse enter, fadeout on mouseleave. when you click the button it disables the fade out, until clicked again and that re-enables it
Here is the Jsfiddle: https://jsfiddle.net/uv4bxdxs/16/
<script>
function Show() {
$('#div1h1').fadeIn();
$('#div2h2').fadeIn();
$('#div3h3').fadeIn();
}
</script>
<body>
<button onclick="Show()">Show all</button>
<div id="div1">
<h1 id="div1h1">TEKST</h1>
</div>
<div id="div2">
<h1 id="div2h2">TEKST</h1>
</div>
<div id="div3">
<h1 id="div3h3">TEKST</h1>
</div>
</body>
One possible solution would be to add a class to displayed elements on the button click event. The class purpose is to disable the fade-in-out functionality. When the button is clicked again that class is removed to re-enable fade-in-out effect.
var flag = true;
$('button').click( function() {
if (flag) {
$('#div1h1').fadeIn().addClass('shown');
flag = false;
}
else {
$('#div1h1').fadeOut().removeClass('shown');
flag = true;
}
});
See DEMO
Please use this code:
$(function() {
var showAllFlag = false;
var btnShowAll = $('#show-all');
$('body').on('mouseenter', 'div.info-box', function() {
showTitle($(this))
}).on('mouseleave', 'div.info-box', function() {
hideTitle($(this))
});
function showTitle(target) {
target.find('h1').stop().fadeIn();
}
function hideTitle(target) {
if (!showAllFlag) {
target.find('h1').stop().fadeOut();
}
}
function showAllTitles() {
$('.info-box h1').show();
showAllFlag = true;
}
btnShowAll.on('click', showAllTitles);
});
Or follow by this link: enter link description here
Change your function to this:
$(function() {
$('#div1').hover(function() {
$('#div1h1').fadeIn();
});
});
$(function() {
$('#div2').hover(function() {
$('#div2h2').fadeIn();
});
});
$(function() {
$('#div3').hover(function() {
$('#div3h3').fadeIn();
});
});
Assuming that you just want the H1 to fade in and for them to stay visible on hover, just have the following code:
<script>
function Show() {
$('#div1h1').fadeIn();
$('#div2h2').fadeIn();
$('#div3h3').fadeIn();
}
</script>
<body>
<button onclick="Show()">Show all</button>
<div id="div1">
<h1 id="div1h1">TEKST</h1>
</div>
<div id="div2">
<h1 id="div2h2">TEKST</h1>
</div>
<div id="div3">
<h1 id="div3h3">TEKST</h1>
</div>
</body>
The JSFiddle link you provided has an extra JavaScript section which is causing the H1 to fade out on hover.
Just don't trigger the fadein if its already visible?
$('#div1').not(":visible").hover(function() {
$('#div1h1').fadeIn();
},
edit - My bad i didn't see that comma :), gimme a second
I have this code
<style>
.Parent {width:500px;height:500px;background:#000}
.Parent .Child {width:250px;height:250px;background:#F00}
</style>
<div class="Parent">
<div class="child"></div>
</div>
<script>
$(document).ready(function() {
$('.Parent').click(function () {
$(this).hide()
});
/*
But if i click on <div class="Child"></div> ,
<div class="Parent"></div> won't get hidden .
*/
});
</script>
I want my code to hide'.parent',
When I click on areas in .Parent witch doesn't include .Child elementand if the areas I click was included in '.child' area , it don't do anything .
so what would u guys suggest ?
Simply make of event.stopPropagation(); to stop event of child from propagating to parent.
So script becomes:
$('.Parent').click(function () {
$(this).hide();
});
$('.child').click(function (e) {
e.stopPropagation();
});
See the fiddle: "http://jsfiddle.net/sftknxeo/1/"
just do this:
$('.Parent, .child').click(function(e) {
if ($(this).hasClass('child')) {
return false;
}
$(this).hide();
});
$('.Parent, .child').click(function(e) {
if ($(this).hasClass('child')) {
return false;
}
$(this).hide();
});
<script src="https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/2.1.1/jquery.min.js"></script>
<div class='Parent' style='width:auto; padding:50px; border:red solid 1px;'>
<div class='child' style='width:200px; height:200px;border:green solid 1px;'>
child
</div>
</div>
You can use the event's target to determine what you have clicked on. This way you can also assign an event to happen if you have clicked on the child. (If need be.)
$('.Parent').click(function(e){
if(e.target == this){
$(this).hide()
}
});
DEMO
Quick and dirty version would be simply to add another event handler. Add a click handler to child that hides parent. Then if you click on parent, it hides itself, and if you click on child, it hides parent.
$('.child').click(function (e) {
$('.parent').hide();
});
Not the most elegant solution, sure, but it's quick and easy and should get the job done.
$('.Parent').click(function () {
$(this).css("visibility", "hidden");
$(".Parent" ).children().css("visibility", "visible");
});
If you just want to hide parent then it will do the needful.
Check for the clicked element by looking at the target property of the event object. Here is something you might want to do:
$(function () {
$('.Parent').click(function (e) {
if ($(e.target).hasClass("child")) {
return false;
}
$(this).hide();
});
});
$('.parent').click(function(e) {
if ($(this).hasClass('child')) {
return false;
}
$(this).hide();
});

what now happens is, whenever I have another link example it will also use this link as the toggle button. I just want Toggle Edit Mode to be toggling hidden div's on/off. So I tried to change $("a").click(function () to $("toggle").click(function () and <a>Toggle Edit Mode</a> to Toggle Edit Mode`, but doesn't work. Any idea's?
HTML
<li><a>Toggle Edit Mode</a>
</li>
<div class="hidden rightButton">hello</div>
CSS
.hidden {
display: none;
}
.unhidden {
display: block;
}
JS
$(document).ready(function () {
$("a").click(function () {
$("div").toggleClass("hidden unhidden");
});
});
You want this.
<li><a class="toggle">Toggle Edit Mode</a>
$(".toggle").click(function () {
$("div").toggleClass("hidden unhidden");
}
You cannot use $("toggle"), because this looks for the html tag <toggle>. Instead add a class toggle to the link for which you want to toggle.
Use "ID" selector.
http://jsfiddle.net/FsCHJ/1/
There can be many classes (class=...) in one page but juste on id (id=...) per page. More informations here.
Javascript:
$(document).ready(function () {
$("#toggle").click(function () {
$("div").toggleClass("hidden unhidden");
});
});
Html:
<li><a id="toggle">Toggle Edit Mode</a></li>
<div class="hidden rightButton">hello</div>
$(document).ready(function () {
$("#toggle").click(function () {
$("div").toggleClass("hidden unhidden");
});
});
.hidden {
display: none;
}
.unhidden {
display: block;
}
<script src="https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.11.1/jquery.min.js"></script>
<li><a id="toggle">Toggle Edit Mode</a></li>
<div class="hidden rightButton">hello</div>
Use .className selector:
$(".toggle").click(function () {});
You can also use jQuery's toggle function.
$(".toggle").click(function () {
$("div").toggle();
});
Created fiddle to demonstrate toggle.
This worked for me. Allowing me to show or hide text with the same link. I associate the link with the div i want to show. This works in lists with multiple records, each record having it's own ID.
<a class="showHideToggle div1">View Details</a>
<div id="div1" style="display:none;">Record 1 details goes here</div>
<a class="showHideToggle div2">View Details</a>
<div id="div2" style="display:none;">Record 2 details goes here</div>
<script>
$(document).ready(function () {
$(".showHideToggle").click(function (ctl) {
var linkedDivName = $(this).attr('class').replace('showHideToggle ', '');
var divToToggle = $("#" + linkedDivName);
//alert('current status: ' + divToToggle.css('display'));
if (divToToggle.css('display') == 'none') {
divToToggle.css("display", "block");
$(this).text("Hide Details");
} else {
divToToggle.css("display", "none");
$(this).text("Show Details");
}
});
});
</script>
I have the code below that clicking on an image hides a div.
Works perfectly, but does not work in IE ...
Why?
http://jsfiddle.net/mtsys/6qAfp/
codes:
$(document).ready(function () {
$('.fechar').click( function() { alert('testes'); $(".nav").attr("hidden",true); });
$('.mais').click( function() {
var status = $(".nav").attr("hidden");
if (status)
{
$(".nav").attr("hidden",false);
}
else
{
$(".nav").attr("hidden",true);
}
});
});
HTML:
<div class="header">
Estágio
<div class="mais"></div>
</div>
<div class ="parent">
<div class="content">
<div id="map_canvas" style="width: 100%; height: 100%;"></div>
</div>
<div class="nav"><div class="fechar"></div><div id="dadosDiv"></div></div>
</div>
tks
Use .hide() and toggle() to change the display of the elements
$('.fechar').click(function () {
$(".nav").hide()
});
$('.mais').click(function () {
$(".nav").toggle()
});
Demo: Fiddle
Why not change your JS to:
$('.fechar').click( function() { alert('testes'); $(".nav").hide(); });
$('.mais').click( function() {
$(".nav").toggle();
});
This will not only simplify your code but utilise jQuery's inbuilt function for toggling content visibility. Incidentally, the issue was the hidden attr reference, this should have been .css('hidden',true) if you want to go down that route...
