Works in jsfiddle but it wont work in dreamweaver - javascript

I have read that I have to put back in the event handler for it to work in dreamweaver from JS Fiddle, I have put it back in and I it still wont work? Here is the Demo: http://jsfiddle.net/EfLJJ/6/
Here is my JS Code:
$(document).ready(function() {
$(".list .fs1").bind({
mouseenter:function(){
$(".sublist").show();
},
mouseleave: function(){
$(".sublist").hide();
}
});
});

Add the jQuery library to your script.
Put this code inside the <head> tags of your page:
<script src="//ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.10.2/jquery.min.js"></script>

In your html code inside head put this line of code in order to include the jQuery library:
<script src="//code.jquery.com/jquery-1.10.2.js"></script>
Otherwise will not be able to use it.
In jsfiddle this works in a different way.

Also, if you're using jQuery version 1.7 and above, I'd recommend you switch from using ".bind()" to ".on()" for as ".on()" is the preferred method according to the jquery website. Check out the difference between ".bind()", ".on()" and ".live()" for more info here, What's the difference between `on` and `live` or `bind`?

Problem solved! To get it running in Dreamweaver you have to use the Javascript Script Tags
Javascript:
<script type="text/javascript" src="http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.3.2/jquery.min.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript">
$(document).ready(function() {
/* Your Code Here */
</script>

jQuery(...).iris is not a function

I am trying to implement color picker provided here http://automattic.github.io/Iris/
Here is my libraries that i am including.
<script src="http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.10.2/jquery.min.js">
</script>
<script src="//ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.8.3/jquery.min.js"></script>
<script src="//ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jqueryui/1.9.2/jquery-ui.min.js"></script>
<script src="js/iris.min.js"></script>
and this is how i am implementing this code
$(document).ready(function() {
jQuery('#color-picker').iris();
});
this is how i have my input field
<input type="text" id='color-picker' value="#bada55" />
but i don't why i get this error
TypeError: jQuery(...).iris is not a function
jQuery('#color-picker').iris();
Seem like the path to your iris script is wrong which caused the browser cannot load the file. So you can check again to see if the path js/iris.min.js is correct.
You can check to see whether your file is loaded or not by going to network tab of either Firebug or Chrome developer tools. If it cannot load the URL which you've provided than you'll receive a 404 error not found in this tab.
Or you can also try to replace:
<script src="js/iris.min.js"></script>
with direct link from Github:
<script src="https://github.com/Automattic/Iris/blob/master/dist/iris.min.js"></script>
The last note is that you just need to include jQuery once, you can choose either version 1.10.2 or 1.8.3 which you know that version will compatible with your jQuery code.
I think this should be something wrong with the iris script here, try to use this version directly from their home page:
<script src="http://automattic.github.io/Iris/javascripts/iris.min.js"></script>
Fiddle Demo
Is your code placed in a way that would let it run before jQuery, jQueryUI and Iris is loaded? Make sure you place your own script file after the rest.
<script src="//ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.8.3/jquery.min.js"></script>
<script src="//ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jqueryui/1.9.2/jquery-ui.min.js"></script>
<script src="js/iris.min.js"></script>
<script>
$(document).ready(function() {
jQuery('#color-picker').iris();
});
</script>
You need to have link to jQuery and jQuery UI instead of adding jQuery twice.
<script src="//ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.8.3/jquery.min.js"></script>
<script src="//ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jqueryui/1.9.2/jquery-ui.min.js"></script>
<script src="js/iris.min.js"></script>
Then call iris on page load and it will work. Here is a link to working fiddle http://jsfiddle.net/WLru3/
PS: I have directly copy pasted code of iris in js code block, please use library link in your code instead.
Remove a line that includes jQuery 1.8.3 library
Make sure the path to iris.min.js is correct

Sometimes jQuery plugin is not loaded

I am using jQuery a lot, but sometimes I get stuck because my browser cannot see the jQuery library, or maybe loads the library after running the my JavaScript code.
Pseudo-code to explain my question:
<html>
<head>
I always load CSS here
I always load jquery here
</head>
<body>
<p class="link-style3"><span id="my_tag"><span>Bize Hemen Yazın</span></span></p>
<script>
$(function() {
$('#my_tag').click(function(e) {
alert('tesrt');
});
});
</script>
</body>
</html>
I always put my stuff in the order like below, but this doesn't work now. When I click the <span id="my_tag">, it doesn't do anything, and doesn't return any error.
what should I do?
Here is the entire code jsfiddle
Try to avoid some syntax errors like(suggestable only)
<script type="text/javascript">
$(function() {
$('#my_tag').click(function() {
alert('tesrt');
});
})
</script>
and put your code at the top after you load the js files
A few things you can do:
inspect your document (network pane in devtools) to see if everything
is loading correctly
Move your scripts to the bottom of the page
use $(document).ready(function(){ ... });

how to fix Conflicting Jquery sources 1.31 and 1.61?

I have a page with js source. I have to include two different jquery sources. If i take out one the countdown clock doesn't work.
how i work with js conflit ?
<script type="text/javascript" src="files/js/jquery-1.3.1.min.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript" src="files/js/jquery.scrollTo.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript" src="files/js/kivi.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript" src="files/js/jquery.leanModal.min.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript">
$(function() {
$('a[rel*=leanModal]').leanModal({ top : 200, closeButton: ".modal_close" });
});
</script>
I think you should better find out how to fix the contdown clock instead of loading 2 versions of jquery on the page.
There is that noconflict method but i'm sure the plugin doesn't do it that way. You can edit the source of the plugin, wrap it in an annonymous self executing function that takes one parameter
(function($) {
// your plugin code here
})(JQ);
where JQ is the non conflict name you get from whatever version of jquery this plugin requires.
So safest way is to fix the clock plugin

why jquery/javascript code get conflict with other jquery/javascript?

While using jquery or javascript code most of the time i have to face the problem of jquery or javascript conflict.
Still i haven't got the reason why this stuff get conflict with other code?
Any one have any idea about this?
And any solution so that next time this issue will not occur while project development.
I have one solution to stop the conflict of jquery files that is,
<script>
var j$=jQuery.noConflict();
</script>
but all the time this code is not working.
If you are using another JavaScript library that uses the $ variable, you can run into conflicts with jQuery. In order to avoid these conflicts, you need to put jQuery in no-conflict mode immediately after it is loaded onto the page and before you attempt to use jQuery in your page.
Method 1:
When you put jQuery into no-conflict mode, you have the option of assigning a variable name to replace $. ( only once )
<script src="prototype.js"></script>
<script src="jquery.js"></script>
<script>var $j = jQuery.noConflict();</script>
Method 2
You can continue to use the standard $ by wrapping your code in a
self-executing anonymous function; this is a standard pattern for
plugin authoring, where the author cannot know whether another library
will have taken over the $.
<script src="jquery.js"></script>
<script>
jQuery.noConflict();
(function($) {
// your code here, using the $
})(jQuery);
</script>
Method 3:
use jQuery instead of $
there few other ways to do so
reference
For jQuery, it's explained in noConflict's API page; basically, many JS frameworks use $ as a function name, and so they may conflict if more than one is used. Which it shouldn't anyway.
Try placing this in your header:
<script type="text/javascript"
src="http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jqueryui/1.7.1/jquery-ui.min.js"> </script>
Try to give an alert when DOM is ready and find it alerts or not if not there is a conflict
<script>
$(document).ready(function () {
alert("Hello!");
});
</script>
I there is conflict try this:
<script type="text/javascript" src="other_lib.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript" src="jquery.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript">
$.noConflict();
jQuery(document).ready(function($) {
// Code that uses jQuery's $ can follow here.
});
// Code that uses other library's $ can follow here.
</script>

Conflicts in Mootools & jQuery In Joomla

I read all the related post but I think I am missing something.
My page structure is:
1 - Load Motools library in Joomla. Code:
JHTML::_('behavior.tooltip');
JHTML::_('behavior.mootools');
JHTML::_('behavior.formvalidation');
2 - Then load the Jquery library code is:
<script language="javascript" src="<?=$this->baseurl;?>/includes/js/jquery/jquery-1.3.2.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript" src="<?=$this->baseurl;?>/includes/js/jquery/customjsfile.js"></script>`
3 - Then there are few JS function which uses Jquery Functionalities. The code is:
function abc() { /* -.stuffs uses jquery */ }
function xyz() { /* ..another function which uses jquery */}
4 - Load body of the page
5 - At the end again few lines of JS code . Which again use Jquery. Code is:
<script language="javascript">
$("#dialog").html(newHTML);
</script>
This is how my page is.
Now I am getting the Conflict errors in Motools & Jquery.
How do I resolve it.
use jQuery instead of $ and
give
jQuery.noConflict();
jQuery.noConflict
Many JavaScript libraries use $ as a
function or variable name, just as
jQuery does. In jQuery's case, $ is
just an alias for jQuery, so all
functionality is available without
using $. If we need to use another
JavaScript library alongside jQuery,
we can return control of $ back to
the other library with a call to
$.noConflict():
Please see:
Using JQuery with other libraries.
jQuery.noConflict(), this is what you need.
<html>
<head>
<script src="prototype.js"></script>
<script src="jquery.js"></script>
<script>
jQuery.noConflict();
// Use jQuery via jQuery(...)
jQuery(document).ready(function(){
jQuery("div").hide();
});
// Use Prototype with $(...), etc.
$('someid').hide();
</script>
</head>
<body></body>
</html>
