Well, I need to refresh the page without giving a refresh, I'm currently doing so.
When the page loads I keep the contents of the html body in a variable, and when I click the button I delete the contents of the html body and add the value of the variable in it.
So I update the body without giving refresh.
The problem is that I use the datepicker plugin and when the body is rewritten by the variable datepicker does not work.
When load the page, I save the html like this:
currentBody = $('body').html();
when I click the button, do so:
$('body').html('');
$('body').html(currentBody);
$('#id_ship_date').datepicker();
But, unsuccessfully.
this is all because I have a form and the fields it is dynamically added by the user, there need a reset button that everything he did on the page, remove everything that he added and remove all the result of queries made by him.
You probably need to reinitialize the datepicker.

$( ".selector" ).datepicker( "refresh" );

I created an html site where the user can input a code in a text input and then this code is being inserted in a MYSQL database if certain conditions are met. In case of a successfull database entry I would like to notify the user with a little pop up message, which displays something like "Success" and also stating some data from the table row, the code was inserted into.
I found a nice looking pop up message on the following page, which I would like to use: https://www.gitto.tech/posts/animated-modal-box-using-html-css-and-javascript/.
However, in the implementation from the page, the pop-up is triggered by the click of a button:
document.getElementById("open-popup-btn").addEventListener("click",function(){
document.getElementsByClassName("popup")[0].classList.add("active");
});
document.getElementById("dismiss-popup-btn").addEventListener("click",function(){
document.getElementsByClassName("popup")[0].classList.remove("active");
});
I would like to execute the pop-up based on an if-condition, in which I check whether an php variable is already set:
<?php
if (isset($group)) {
?> ......HTML code.....
So, can anybody tell me how to successfully remove that "onClick" function of the pop-up?
Thanks in advance!
I understand that you reload the page after said data was inserted into database?
If so, what you can do to show pop-up initially, is to simply add class active to your popup (element with class popup, like that:
<div class="popup center active">
...
</div>
BUT
in order to be able to close the popup, you still will have to attach the second part of the provided script (you can simply insert it within script tags inside php if statement (at the end of HTML body element), like:
<script>
document.getElementById("dismiss-popup-btn").addEventListener("click",function(){
document.getElementsByClassName("popup")[0].classList.remove("active");
});
</script>
note: It doesn't change the fact that, as said above - it would be better to handle this with XHR (e.g. via ajax)
The variable data passed to a Bootstrap modal is hard coded in HTML data-text element field using "data-text" (according to the Bootstrap examples). If the modal's purpose is to allow a user to change that, then how do I send that back to the raw HTML data-text to update it for next time?
JS newbie here. I got Bootstrap 4 modals working and updating back to the server by Ajax (with a lot of Googling of StackOverFlow thanks!). I have about 100 text elements on the page which all load the same modal for editing of the clicked text field. The field initial value is hard coded into the page HTML in the data-text field (following the Bootstrap modal example). This allows passing of the current text value to pre-populate the modal field with the existing text value for editing.
Next, the user edits the note field in the modal and clicks submit. I am able to get the value and pass it back to the server, and update the DOM with the new edited value on the page, and everything works and looks great! So far so good.
Now here's the problem. Since I have not been able to figure out how to change the data-text field (which is hard coded in the page HTML), the screen (DOM) updates with the new value after submit correctly, but the data-text field of the element does not update. It is still the old value. It means the NEXT time I click to edit the text, the OLD value of the text field is pre-populated in the modal for editing.
Question: how do I update html data-text field by JS?
I have researched this problem at great length and without Stack Overflow I would never be able to get it working, so much appreciate you guys. Dozens of questions about passing variable TO Modals, but very few about passing the data back, and NONE about setting data-text on submit by JS.
text element definition example. This is a slightly simplified example. The text field contains some data from the server database, HTML is generated by PHP/MySQL. (1 out of 100 elements on page):
<td id="note_12345678" data-toggle="modal" data-target="#noteModal" data-note="<some text from db>" class="note"><same text from server db></td>
Here is the JS on submit code. Everything works except for the last line where I am trying to change the "data-note" field of the element:
function note_submit(element) {
var note = document.getElementById('message-text').value;
ajaxcall("/ajaxclick.php" , { note:note } , null); // Simplified, all is working.
noteElement = document.getElementById('note_12345678');
noteElement.innerText = note ; // Updates the DOM with submitted note.
noteElement.data-note = note ; // <== trying to change data-note here but obviously a syntax error.
}
Everything is working fine up to that last step. Clicking the text field opens modal, pre-loads the text for editing, allows the user to edit, click submit sends to server by Ajax for update, DOM note on screen is updated by JS. if I RELOAD the page, it loads the new edited text value from server db. Everything working great. Lots of joy.
Problem is NEXT time I click on the text element to edit it, the modal loads the OLD value from data-note hard coded into HTML. How to update it upon submit by JS? Thanks a million for any assistance. So close.
Updated: page is loading jquery-3.3.1.js, and bootstrap/4.0.0/js/bootstrap.min.js. Browser is FF V66.
I managed to get some js to work to my surprise, now I want to make it a little more complex which is way out of my expertise.
I have a button when clicked will reload a iframe that is on my page. I have multiple iframes all but 1 are hidden. Then I use jquery to display a different iframe and hidden the previous depending on the nav button clicked. e.g. "1-btn" (nav btn) tied to "1-win" (iframe), "2-btn" (nav btn) tied to "2-win" (iframe) etc. So when you click "2-btn", "1-win" iframe hides and "2-win" iframe is displayed. Now I want to change my code so this ties into my reload javasrcipt. Currently, my js only reloads 1 iframe via the iframe id. I want to change this id every time to a different iframe. This will allow my Reload btn to only reload the current iframe displayed and not any of the other that are hidden.
Here is my Reload js
function Reload () {
var f = document.getElementById('1-win');
f.src = f.src;
}
As you can see this reload script only works for iframe "1-win". When i click "2-btn" nav to display "2-win" iframe (and hides "1-win") the reload button still only works for "1-win". Therefore, I want it to also change. For e.g. when I click "2-btn" (nav) to display "2-win" iframe I want to change the Reload id to "2-win" also.
I was thinking of using onClick within my nav buttons which passed through the id of the iframe which that nav btn is tied to. However, I have no idea how to do this.

Sorry if this doesn't make any sense, I cant think of an easier way to explain it.
Thanks
EDIT
This below answer may or may not still apply now that the problem has been better defined.
One approach you could try is having a hidden field on the page which contains a semi-colon separated list of the Id's of the iframes. E.g.
<input type="hidden" name="iframeids" value="1;2;3;4;5">
On the click event of your button, call some JavaScript which gets the value of the hidden field, takes the first token before the semicolon, and then reorganise the string. An example:
// Next value is 1
// Use 1 in your JS
// Put 1 to the end, next is now 2
<input type="hidden" name="iframeids" value="2;3;4;5;1">
You would contain the logic of re-arranging etc. in the JS function.
Now that the problem is better defined, we can work out a proper solution.
Here are some design considerations:
Ideally you do not want to manually add a new button for every iframe that you put on the page. Main reason being code maintenance. If you were to add a new iframe, or remove one, your code would not function correctly. Also the amount of mark-up required will be unnecessarily high
jQuery will make your life easier, although it's not required, it will cut out a lot of code. I can't stress enough the importance of knowing JavaScript basics first, but this is your responsibility to learn
For point 1, what we would like is a generic solution so that if you add more iframes, the buttons are added automatically. JavaScript is the way to do this (I'm assuming this is just HTML, not ASP.net or php or some other server side
Point 2 - jQuery will help with point 1.
Now we have this understanding, let's look at an outline of what we need to do:
In JavaScript, loop through the iframe tags on the page
For each iframe, generate a button using jquery, using the values like src and id in the iframe as attributes on the button
Add some click-event code to the button do define what it needs to do when clicked
Again using jQuery, add the newly created buttons to the DOM
This did the trick:
function Reload()
{
$("iframe").each(function()
{
if($(this).is(':visible'))
$(this).attr('src', $(this).attr('src'));
});
}
I have this simple demo to test bootstrap modal and JSON.
Code
When I click button "show", it loads the JSON and parses it.
And button "Launch demo modal" shows the parsed JSON.
But when I click the button "show" again,
the previous list in the modal is not removed and it appends with the current list
increasing the size of the modal.
I want to refresh the cache everytime I click the "show" button.
Please help.
You have to use .html() instead of .append() . .append() adds other list to your modal body, .html(list) instead, changes all the content of the modal body you're manipulating.
Otherwise you could remove all .ID1 content and then refill it, but it is not such a good way to do.
Instead of .append() use $(".ID1").html(list); this will replace the html of .ID1, while append will add to the current content.
Adding the code
$('.ID1').html('');$('.ID2').html('');
below
$getJSON
Will remove the cache from previous sessions and it works.
Actually I have Multiple update panels on page, which update different values on server but the problem is that I have textbox to which I attach javascript class for datepicker on Load event.
But There are other updatepanels before that date TextBox, when I update them first calender image with date control which is in updatepanel disappears. or it remove the calender which is next to the textbox.
txtDate.Attributes.Add("class", "show-week w16em dateformat-d-sl-m-sl-Y");
Before using any updatepanel its like this
After we upfdate any updatepanel control its like this.
But the Date controls which are not in any updatepanel are ok and working.
And in these updatepanels I actually saving values in DataTables and save these DataTables in viewState .... no change in HTML.
I guess the datepicker and its textbox both are placed in an updatepanel?
If you do an ajax-postback with UpdatePanels the server will send html back for all UpdatePanels on the page, and refresh all of their contents, so your datepicker will disappear.
If you set UpdateMode=Conditional on the UpdatePanels then only the UpdatePanels that caused the postback will update.
Another option is to recreate the datepicker with ScriptManager.RegisterStartupScript, but this possibly resets its value (depends on which datepicker it is).
Are you changing the INNERHTML of the DIV or TABLE in which the TextBox is present because if you are then its removing the calender control after that DIV or TABLE is being updated.
whatever method you are using to attach the datepicker, you must call again after the updatepanel updates
you can do it on server side with this:
// at some point of the method that updates the panel
ScriptManager.RegisterStartupScript(
this, typeof(object), "someUniqueKey", "theScript();", true);
or on client side with this:
// <body onload='...'> or in the <head>
Sys.WebForms.PageRequestManager.getInstance().add_endRequest(
function () { theScript() });
