Setting a background image with external js file - javascript

Im having an issue with setting my bacground image by using an external js code.
this is the code of the js:

everything works fine but the css attr, since I can see at the console the right link and when I click it, the image will open up in new tag. by that i guess the jquery call from html page is fine.
cant find what goes wrong here...

A few things:
Looks like your string is concatinating an array literal, and not the integer i. So 'string'+[]+'string' is effectively 'string' + new Array() + 'string'.
Your selector for mainContent needs to either be looking for a class or an ID so either .mainContent or #mainContent.
Finally, you don't need to instantiate a new Image since jQuery will just update the CSS of the element with a new string for the background-image property.
Try

Attempting to change an image onclick via PHP/Javascript/HTML

I've looked at numerous other answers regarding this but haven't found a solution that has worked. I'm using a PHP page that contains some HTML code, with Javascript working some functions. Ideally I would select an image on the page, the image will become colored green as it is selected. I would then like to deselect the image and have it return to the original state. I can only get half-way there however. What am I missing? Is it something with post back?
Here's some code examples:

The "1c.png" image is the one that is selected and should replace "1.png". There are multiple divs on this page that hold multiple images, which are named 2/2c, 3/3c, which is why the var i is included. Any insight? Thanks in advance.
You could do it something like this, it would also allow for different file names.

Your problem is that javascript is returning the full path of the src (you can try alert(img.src); to verify this).
You could look up how to parse a file path to get the file name in javascript, if you want the most robust solution.
However, if you're sure that all your images will end in 'c.png', you could check for those last 5 characters, using a substring of the last 5 characters:

Unable to alter the css 'background-image' with Jquery

I am trying to cycle through an array of pictures to make a photo-viewer on my webpage. The cycling method is working fine, but the transferring the message unto the css is not. I am wondering if there is any syntax issues within my javascript code or a concept that I am missing out on. I know that the cycling works because the alert I have is working.

The issue is due to the incorrect syntax you're using when concatenating the CSS property value. Try this:

You have to set background image like this:
$('.slider').css('background-image', "url('" + backgroundPic[picCounter] + "')");
You inverted the positioning of the quotemarks on the second line of setPic.
Try: $('slider').css('background-image', 'url' + backgroundPic[picCounter]);
On your setPic function, this line
$('slider').css('background-image', url + "backgroundPic[picCounter]");
isn't missing a dot on $('.slider')?
You'll need to include double quotes (") before and after the imageUrl like this:
$('slider').css('background-image', 'url("' + backgroundPic[picCounter] + '")');
This way, if the image has spaces it will still be set as a property.

HTMLImageElement node instead of real image

I'm dynamically creating some image elements, everything is good but when i am trying to wrap this images in li elements i have strange response in DOM, which is: [object HTMLImageElement].
This is the code, please note that element crating function and requireJS are working fine, the problem is by wrapping side.

You have created an element (_image = createEl(...)) and are then converting it to a string (which, just like any object, results in [object ConstructorName])
Instead, try:

Fade In don't work

I have wrote this javascript to show some images with id: imgFotogramma1/imgFotogramma2/ecc.. randomly in 8 different div with id Fotogramma1/Fotogramma2/ecc..:

Now,this code start when body is loaded and its repeated every 4 seconds but i don't understand why the images are not displayed. I have started to work with Jquery not too much time ago and probably something are wrong.
I want to specify that: if i use normally javascript to assign to the src attribute the value of immagini[x],all work fine and the images are displayed.I have problem only to apply the fadein() motion.
I need a help to understand where is wrong,i have studied the fadeIn() API and i have tried to apply to my case.

should be:
$('#'+imgId).fadeIn(1000);
Use # + idOfElemnt to select element with particular id.
You already doing it right. Just replace
var imgId = "imgFotogramma"+i;
With
var imgId = "#imgFotogramma"+i;
Since your are using the ID of the image, then your must have to use the "#" for id for applying the jQuery on it.
To select an ID, use # + elemID. Like this:
var imgId = "#imgFotogramma" + i;
Also, fade will not occur if the element is not hidden. First hide it, and then fade it in:
$(imgId).hide().fadeIn(1000);

get name of files in a folder with javascript

I have a background image folder that there is some picture that i want to use them for background.
how i can get their names and put them on array whit javascript?if i cant they do with javascript,how can i do that?
i want to read name of files and use javacsript and link for change background image whit css.

This solution is created according to the fact that browser dont have access to folders/filesystem.
Javascript can not access the filesystem. This has to be done by a server script and then be feed to the javascript.
I had the simliar problem when building my game engine when I was loading all my diffrent tiles. I ended up doing it like this.
This solution do pose two a problems when implementing it.
You will have to define the amout of images in the "NrofTiles" array
The images must be named like tile1, tile2 ... tile9 so you can
increment the path to them.
The typeOfTiles[typeCounter] is just there to give me access to different folders, in my case for my tiles, grass, houses, water and so on.

When everything is loaded(the tiles), you do this to change the background picture.
This is an example of a changing body background. You could make a link with an ID lets say "iamthelink".
