Send form email to a REST service using JSON - javascript

How to Send form email to a REST service using JSON
I´m trying so:
// Send Mail
$('#btn_send').click(function() {
// Data object contact
this.name = $('#inputnome').val();
this.email = $('#inputemail').val();
this.subject = $('#inputassunto').val();
this.message = $('#textareamsg').val();
this.toJsonString = function() {
return JSON.stringify(this);
};
$.ajax({
type: "POST",
url: "http://localhost:8080/MailWS",
data: contact.toJsonString(),
contentType: "application/json; charset=utf-8",
dataType: "json",
success: function(data, status, jqXHR) {
alert(status.toString());
},
error: function(jqXHR, status) {
alert(status.toString());
}
});
});

I think the problem is that you're not binding onclick action to your button. Try enclosing your whole javascript in $( document ).ready(function() {}); or do something like this which is cleaner.
$( document ).ready(function() {
$('#btn_send').click(function() {
sendEmail();//
});
});
function sendEmail(){
var valuesArr = new Array();
valuesArr.push($('#inputnome').val());
valuesArr.push($('#inputemail').val());
valuesArr.push($('#inputassunto').val());
valuesArr.push($('#textareamsg').val());
var jsonText = JSON.stringify(valuesArr);
$.ajax({
type: "POST",
url: "http://localhost:8080/MailWS",
data: jsonText,
contentType: "application/json; charset=utf-8",
dataType: "json",
success: function(data, status, jqXHR) {
alert(status.toString());
},
error: function(jqXHR, status) {
alert(status.toString());
}
});
}

Getting error trying to submit data using JQuery ajax

When I try to run the following JQuery ajax, I get an error saying that a parameter is missing and it will not send the data. I can't find any syntax errors. What am I doing wrong?
Here is the javascript with the JQuery ajax code:
function submitAction(actionname) {
if (actionname == "illustrationgenerate.htm") {
var thisForm = document.getElementById("illustrationTypeForm");
var fd = new FormData(thisForm);
$.ajax({
url: "illustrationgenerate.htm",
type: "POST",
data: fd,
datatype: "xml",
cache: false,
success: function (result, status, xhr) {
document.getElementById('errorMessage0').value="Success";
},
error: function (xhr, status, error) {
alert(xhr.status);
alert(request.responseText);
}
});
} else {
document.forms[0].action = actionname;
document.forms[0].method = "POST";
document.forms[0].target = '';
document.forms[0].submit();
}
}
Why not use jQuery native form encoder?
$.ajax({
...
data: $('#illustrationTypeForm').serializeArray(),
...
});
Try This
Here is the javascript with the JQuery ajax code:
function submitAction(actionname) {
if (actionname == "illustrationgenerate.htm") {
var thisForm = document.getElementById("illustrationTypeForm");
var fd = new FormData(thisForm);
$.ajax({
url: "illustrationgenerate.htm",
type: "POST",
data: $('#illustrationTypeForm').serializeArray(),
datatype: "xml",
cache: false,
success: function (result, status, xhr) {
document.getElementById('errorMessage0').value="Success";
},
error: function (xhr, status, error) {
alert(xhr.status);
alert(request.responseText);
}
});
} else {
document.forms[0].action = actionname;
document.forms[0].method = "POST";
document.forms[0].target = '';
document.forms[0].submit();
}
}
To make ajax request using jQuery a type 'POST' you can do this by following code :
$.ajax({
url: "test.php",
type: "post",
data: values ,
success: function (response) {
// you will get response from your php page (what you echo or print)
},
error: function(jqXHR, textStatus, errorThrown) {
console.log(textStatus, errorThrown);
}
});

How to post json ajax request to web API

I'm unable to get json data from server side. The script calls the server method but no json data returned.
$(document).ready(function() {
$("#SendMail").click(function() {
$.ajax({
url: "http://localhost:2457/SendMail/SendMail/",
dataType: 'json',
type: 'POST',
data: "{htmlTemplate:" + "ABC" + "}",
//crossDomain: true,
//contentType: "application/json; charset=utf-8",
success: function(data, textStatus, xhr) {
console.log(data);
alert('Successfully called');
},
error: function(xhr, textStatus, errorThrown) {
// console.log(errorThrown);
}
});
});
});
Function SendMail(htmlTemplate As String) As String
Dim fname As String = Request.Form("htmlTemplate1")
Dim lname As String = Request.Form("lname")
Dim cmdSendMail As New SendMailCommand()
Return "A"
End Function
<script>
$(document).ready(function () {
$("#SendMail").click(function() {
$.ajax({
url: '/SendMail/SendMail/',
dataType: 'text',
type: 'POST',
data:JSON.stringify({htmlTemplate: "ABC"}),
//crossDomain: true,
contentType: "application/json; charset=utf-8",
success: function (data, textStatus, xhr) {
console.log(data);
alert('Successfully called');
},
error: function (xhr, textStatus, errorThrown) {
console.log(errorThrown);
}
});
});
});
</script>

Ajax method to a webmethod in asmx is not firing

I have a strange problem with the below AJAX jQuery method to call a webmethod in an asmx service. It's not firing when I try to call it, but the moment I uncomment any of the alert in code to debug, it works all of sudden.
It confuses me, what would be the problem? Am I missing something here..
Code:
var endXsession = function() {
var fwdURL = "";
$.ajax({
type: "POST",
url: "Session.asmx/RemoveSession",
data: "{}",
contentType: "application/json; charset=utf-8",
dataType: "json",
success: function(msge) {
//alert(msge.d);
fwdURL = msge.d;
},
error: function(response) {
//alert(response.responseText);
fwdURL = response.responseText;
}
});
//alert(fwdURL);
return fwdURL;
};
response.responseText is undefined ... it's response.statusText ..
function endXsession() {
var fwdURL = "";
$.ajax({
type: "POST",
url: "Session.asmx/RemoveSession",
data: "{}",
contentType: "application/json; charset=utf-8",
dataType: "json",
success: function (msge) {
// alert(msge.d);
fwdURL = msge.d;
}
,
error: function (response) {
// alert(response.statusText);
fwdURL = response.statusText;
}
});
// alert(fwdURL);
return fwdURL;
}
console.log(endXsession());

Call ajax.fail() from ajax.success()

So all I want to do is conditionally call the .fail method from within the .success method, how?
var ajaxCall = $.ajax({
url: pUrl,
type: "POST",
data: pData,
dataType: "json",
processData: false,
contentType: "application/json; charset=utf-8"
})
.always(function () {
alert("always");
})
.success(function (data) {
if (data == "fail") { ajaxCall.fail(); return; }
alert("success");
})
.fail(function () {
alert("fail");
});
$.ajax return a promise so you can't do it directly. Your best shot is that :
var fail = function () {
alert("fail");
};
var ajaxCall = $.ajax({
url: pUrl,
type: "POST",
data: pData,
dataType: "json",
processData: false,
contentType: "application/json; charset=utf-8"
})
.always(function () {
alert("always");
})
.success(function (data) {
if (data == "fail") { fail(); return; }
alert("success");
})
.fail(fail);
You can simply call as this.fail(); as shown below :-
var ajaxCall = $.ajax({
url: pUrl,
type: "POST",
data: pData,
dataType: "json",
processData: false,
contentType: "application/json; charset=utf-8"
})
.always(function () {
alert("always");
})
.success(function (data) {
if (data == "fail")
{
this.fail();
return;
}
alert("success");
})
.fail(function () {
alert("fail");
});

http://www.youlikeprogramming.com/2013/07/jqueryajax-conditionally-call-error-method-fro-success/
just use the "this" keyword to actually call any other method of the ajax call, I have made a sample for error method.
$.ajax({
url: 'url',
dataType: 'json',
contentType: 'application/json; charset=utf-8;',
type: 'GET',
success: function (dataReturn) {
this.error('error called explicitly');
},
error: function (errorMessage) {
if(errorMessage.ResponseText) // or directly compare as errorMessage !== "error called explicitly" if u send the same message elsewhere
//actual error code
else
alert(errorMessage);
}
});
hope this helps :)

Can I call ajax function inside another ajax function? [duplicate]

Is it possible to make an ajax request inside another ajax request?
because I need some data from first ajax request to make the next ajax request.
First I'm using Google Maps API to get LAT & LNG, after that I use that LAT & LNG to request Instagram API (search based location).
Once again, is this possible, and if so how?
$('input#search').click(function(e) {
e.preventDefault();
var source = $('select[name=state] option:selected').text()+' '+$('select[name=city] option:selected').text()+' '+$('select[name=area] option:selected').text();
var source = source.replace(/ /g, '+');
if(working == false) {
working = true;
$(this).replaceWith('<span id="big_loading"></span>');
$.ajax({
type:'POST',
url:'/killtime_local/ajax/location/maps.json',
dataType:'json',
cache: false,
data:'via=ajax&address='+source,
success:function(results) {
// this is where i get the latlng
}
});
} else {
alert('please, be patient!');
}
});
Here is an example:
$.ajax({
type: "post",
url: "ajax/example.php",
data: 'page=' + btn_page,
success: function (data) {
var a = data; // This line shows error.
$.ajax({
type: "post",
url: "example.php",
data: 'page=' + a,
success: function (data) {
}
});
}
});
Call second ajax from 'complete'
Here is the example
var dt='';
$.ajax({
type: "post",
url: "ajax/example.php",
data: 'page='+btn_page,
success: function(data){
dt=data;
/*Do something*/
},
complete:function(){
$.ajax({
var a=dt; // This line shows error.
type: "post",
url: "example.php",
data: 'page='+a,
success: function(data){
/*do some thing in second function*/
},
});
}
});
This is just an example. You may like to customize it as per your requirement.
$.ajax({
url: 'ajax/test1.html',
success: function(data1) {
alert('Request 1 was performed.');
$.ajax({
type: 'POST',
url: url,
data: data1, //pass data1 to second request
success: successHandler, // handler if second request succeeds
dataType: dataType
});
}
});
For more details : see this
$.ajax({
url: "<?php echo site_url('upToWeb/ajax_edit/')?>/" + id,
type: "GET",
dataType: "JSON",
success: function (data) {
if (data.web == 0) {
if (confirm('Data product upToWeb ?')) {
$.ajax({
url: "<?php echo site_url('upToWeb/set_web/')?>/" + data.id_item,
type: "post",
dataType: "json",
data: {web: 1},
success: function (respons) {
location.href = location.pathname;
},
error: function (xhr, ajaxOptions, thrownError) { // Ketika terjadi error
alert(xhr.responseText); // munculkan alert
}
});
}
}
else {
if (confirm('Data product DownFromWeb ?')) {
$.ajax({
url: "<?php echo site_url('upToWeb/set_web/')?>/" + data.id_item,
type: "post",
dataType: "json",
data: {web: 0},
success: function (respons) {
location.href = location.pathname;
},
error: function (xhr, ajaxOptions, thrownError) { // Ketika terjadi error
alert(xhr.responseText); // munculkan alert
}
});
}
}
},
error: function (jqXHR, textStatus, errorThrown) {
alert('Error get data from ajax');
}
});
