javascript show intro animation, then website - javascript

I have to add to an html page an intro animation. So I need that the first thing visible when loading the page is the gif at full screen (it takes about 2 seconds), then I have to fadeout the gif and fadein the html page. Can you help me?
My webpage is contained in a div like this:

What is contained in "site" must appear - fading - after the gif intro has played and ended.
This is what I tried first:

the best way is to use css animations. it works without jquery and directly on the gif (no div needed)
the gif must have:

make sure you use "-webkit-animation-fill-mode: forwards" so the gif remains hidden after animation else the gif would return to its original state.

If it was me I'd put my gif in a DIV with and id on it outside of the site. Then using jQuery something like this:-

I'd suggest a longer delay, as you don't know how long your gif will take to load ... look up preloading etc to find out more about that. This is a really crude example to get you started.

How it works:
A div id="preloader" is showed until the page is fully loaded. Then, fades out consecutively the loader.gif, and the div id="preloader".
Note: For illustration purposes I have used the first loading gif I found. It is not recommended to use hotlinking.

setTimeout and display none with a fader timer- How to do it chronologically?

I am sitting with a project in need of an overlay which fades out when hovered upon and goes to display: none (not visibility: hidden, it does need to be display: none).
The setup is a big confusing, but I will try to explain it:
The overlay comes up when I hover a menu point under my mega menu. When I move the cursor to the overlay it should naturally dissapear and the menu close.
This works very well with this code:

With this setup the overlay dissapears right away. I am trying to merge it with the fadeOut keyframe animation before it goes black. I have tried different tactics, like adding a second timeout event but all it does is loop through and end up showing the overlay permanently after.
So the order I want to achieve is as follows:
Add a class that fires the keyframe animation fadeOut for .5 sec
Remove keyframe animation class
Add display: block class
Remove display: block class (essentially resetting it, so you can get the overlay up again by hovering its triggerpoint)
So my question is, how do I get all of these to fire every time I hover over the overlay?
One of the things I tried was this:

if the timeline will be like this: visible -> hover -> animation -> opacity to 0 -> display: none
using CSS with JS logic:

using this method you don't need to complex your code...
the trick really is because we use element.style
that is only put the CSS, but technically...
if there is a transition Javascript don't know it,
so it will run the setTimeout() directly after adding styles,
so now CSS will do the animation but javascript will quietly continue the code (which in our case, says that after 300 seconds add display: none;)

The result is quite satisfactory already. However, I have concerns:
As can probably be seen, my star always animates from the last frame of said image to the first frame whenever I refresh the browser window. If possible, I'd like it to not do that when I first refresh the window and only reverse-animate when I toggle it from 'active' to 'not active'.
I feel like using two #keyframes just to reverse an animation that is exactly the same is kind of inefficient. Is there a way to achieve the same effect without having to make an additional reverse #keyframes?
Is there a way for me to achieve the same effect without specifying the size of section explicitly when said section does not have a parent?
When I click quickly a few times on said image, if possible, I'd like it to finish its current animation first before proceeding to the next one. With my code now, preceding animations are immediately ended when a new animation is run.

I've tried to not use the reverse #keyframes by changing to the following:

What happened is the animation completely vanished.
Why not use the code from the actual tutorial where you got the image. It uses transition rather than animation and seems neater.
It will automatically reverse the animation too with the transition applied to the element.
You can set a disabled flag and use setTimeout() to prevent multiple clicks before the animation has finished.

Background color changing it's height onload

I've been reading for couple hours from now, and probably I have problem even with asking right question.
What I would like to achieve is: changing the main page background height from 0 to 100% in let's say 10s, so after 1 second background color got 10% page height, after 2 seconds 20% of page height and so on. It should start to change after page load.
It could be jquery, css, or some external library, just want it to work.
Something like this?

I am working for a company and converting flash ad banners in html5.
I need to convert flash image which slides in from the left and at the same time it performs motion blur effect just like a windy effect.
I have converted slide in image but I am not sure how to add a windy effect.

Jquery is not going to help you create motion blur unless you use a canvas, which nearly no one use for creating ads,
or,
you can create multiple instance of the images and place in same place, then animate each with slight time interval and opacity.

background image shaky on div resize

I want to use HTML to create an "opening" effect of one on top of another one.
After some research i figured out a way (see JSFiddle).
I now have the problem that the background image moves a little bit when the circle is resizing.
Can anyone help me figure out how to get the background image to stand still.
The image in the circle needs to keep same zoom level when opening.
The circle needs to be centered and the bottom half needs to be out of the window.

Let me explain a little more. i notice that my question is not clear enough.
I have a few screenshot for the effect i want to create:

The entire effect is already working but when the transition is in progress (The circle with the image is getting bigger or smaller) the image inside the circle moves a little bit.
This is probably because of the calculations that need to be done by Javascript / CSS positioning.
I would like some help how to let this image stand entirely still during resize transition.

Rather than mix JQuery and CSS transitions I've lumped all the animation together in the JQuery.
I've used the animate() function and specified the easing method. The default easing is swing but I've used linear as this progresses the animation at a constant pace.
Edit
The solution above includes CSS that allows the image to scale with the animation. However you are requesting that the image stays at the same "zoom level" throughout.
To achieve this simply remove a line from the CSS, namely this one:

I know this is 5 years too late, but I found this thread via a search engine and thought I'd provide my own thoughts.
This effect can also be achieved with clip-path, which is a bit more forgiving than jquery's animate (which can still result in image shakiness if you're animating certain/enough properties).
clip-path has the additional benefit of not needing javascript at all if you're doing, say, hovers rather than button clicks. It also results in a simpler HTML file.
I've made an updated version of the original question's jsfiddle, http://jsfiddle.net/GmvUQ/13/ which demonstrates doing this with clip-path. It's still using jquery to handle the button clicks, but the "magic" all happens via CSS transitions, rather than javascript animations.

What this does is simply cause the CSS to transition on the clip-path property, animating the circle expansion. Because the image itself never moves, just the boundaries between which it displays, it never shakes.

The majority of the code is used to position our .circle-overlay class. This class provides a transparent circle (using border-radius) and utilises one of my favourite new CSS features - box-shadow - to apply a solid, white "outline" of an arbitrarily large value that covers the image below it. Have a play with the colour and size (adjust the 300px value) of the box-shadow to see how this works.

Once again, keeping things nice and simple!
The above JQuery performs a very simple task. It increases the size of the circle-overlay whilst maintaining its bottom, centre positioning on every click.
This should be a very smooth animation and the image should not "judder" or "shake" as the image is not being manipulated.
