I want to get an alert when, while scrolling, my footer comes to view.
$(window).on("mousewheel", function(){
if ($(window).scrollTop() + $(window).height() > $('#footer').position().top){
alert("footer visible");
}
else{
alert("footer invisible");
}
});
http://jsfiddle.net/JRUnr/10/
All conditions with height seem right, but not during scrolling.
Working DEMO
Try this
$(window).scroll(function () {
if ($(window).scrollTop() + $(window).height() > $('.footer').offset().top) {
alert("footer visible");
} else {
alert("footer invisible");
}
});
Hope this helps,Thank you
There is a jquery plugin for this task named jQuery Waypoints
(http://imakewebthings.com/jquery-waypoints/)
$('#footer').waypoint(function(direction) {
alert('Top of thing hit top of viewport.');
});
here is a working fiddle...
http://jsfiddle.net/kasperfish/JRUnr/14/
it is hacked together but it works
flag=true;
$(window).scroll(function() {
st=$(window).scrollTop();
$('#topscroll').html(st)
if(st>1450){
if(flag)
alert('test');flag=false;
}
});

I have this short jQuery code to make the picture disappear when the window is resized. For some reason, after it disappears, it doesn't appear again.
Here is the code:
$(document).ready(function(){
$(window).resize(function(){
if($(window).width() < 700) {
$("#side-pic").css("display","none");
} else if($(window).width() >= 700){
$("#side-pic").css("display","show");
}
});
});
Also if by any chance you know if there is a way to make picture move under a certain div in my code, I'll be glad to hear it! Thank you guys in advance!
There is no display property such as display: show. Try using $("#side-pic").css("display","block"); instead.
Another Alternative would be hide/show:
$(document).ready(function(){
$(window).resize(function(){
if($(window).width() < 700) {
$("#side-pic").hide();
}
else if($(window).width() >= 700) {
$("#side-pic").show();
}
});
});
That's because the "show" is not a valid display value. https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/CSS/display
Also, why the else if, isn't an else good enough?
Or rather a reusable CSS class and jQuery's toggleClass() Method:
jQuery( $ => {
$(window).on('resize', function() {
$("#side-pic").toggleClass("is-hidden", $(this).width() < 700);
});
});
.is-hidden {display: none;}
<div id="side-pic">SIDE PIC</div>
<script src="//code.jquery.com/jquery-3.1.0.js"></script>
You can also write a code Like following
$(document).ready(function(){
$(window).resize(function(){
if($(window).width() < 700) {
$("#side-pic").hide();
} else if($(window).width() >= 700){
$("#side-pic").show();
}
});
});
EDIT: I'm not trying to be pushy but if someone knows how to help me with this, I'd really appreciate it.
www.kwpei.com is the site I'm working on, the issue I'm having is with the responsive menu not closing after a menu or submenu item is chosen. Ive been told the place to make the change needed is in global.js which I've included here in its current state. Could someone show me how to fix the issue?
jQuery(function( $ ){
$('.site-header').addClass('front-page-header');
$('.footer-widgets').prop('id', 'footer-widgets');
$(".nav-primary .genesis-nav-menu, .nav-secondary .genesis-nav-menu").addClass("responsive-menu").before('<div class="responsive-menu-icon"></div>');
$(".responsive-menu-icon").click(function(){
$(this).next(".nav-primary .genesis-nav-menu, .nav-secondary .genesis-nav-menu").slideToggle();
});
$(window).resize(function(){
if(window.innerWidth > 800) {
$(".nav-primary .genesis-nav-menu, .nav-secondary .genesis-nav-menu, nav .sub-menu").removeAttr("style");
$(".responsive-menu > .menu-item").removeClass("menu-open");
}
});
$(".responsive-menu > .menu-item").click(function(event){
if (event.target !== this)
return;
$(this).find(".sub-menu:first").slideToggle(function() {
$(this).parent().toggleClass("menu-open");
});
});
// Local Scroll Speed
$.localScroll({
duration: 750
});
// Sticky Navigation
var headerHeight = $('.site-header').innerHeight();
var beforeheaderHeight = $('.before-header').outerHeight();
var abovenavHeight = headerHeight + beforeheaderHeight - 1;
$(window).scroll(function(){
if ($(document).scrollTop() > abovenavHeight){
$('.nav-primary').addClass('fixed');
} else {
$('.nav-primary').removeClass('fixed');
}
});
});
You can slide up the menu again on clicking any of the menu items. Try adding this bit of jquery:
$('.menu-item a').click(function () {
$('.responsive-menu').stop(true, true).slideUp();
});
EDIT:
$('.menu-item a').click(function () {
if ($(window).width() < 800) {
$('.sub-menu').stop(true, true).slideUp();
$('.responsive-menu').stop(true, true).slideUp();
$('.menu-item').removeClass('menu-open');
}
});
If 800px is your breakpoint in the media query
I have a problem with infinite scrolling... This is the code:
<script>
$(window).scroll(function() {
if($(window).scrollTop() + $(window).height() == $(document).height()) {
alert("test");
}
});
</script>
It alerts when user hits the top of the page, not the bottom. I can't figure out where the problem is. Thanks is advance.
$(window).scroll(function(){
if ($(window).scrollTop() == $(document).height() - $(window).height()){
alert("test");
}
});
Here it alerts "test" when you hit the bottom of the page..

Hope this helps!
I have a back to top button that appears when you scroll a little bit .It's working fine but when scrolling if I get to the footer i want the button to go above the footer.
I used the jquery animate method to change the bottom css rule of the button when I get to the bottom of the page.But that effect doesn't happen instantly on my website because i have more javascript and i think it needs to go through all the code before it runs the effect and It's just not working properly.
Where is the problem ? .Here is what I have done : JSFIDDLE
var offset = 250;
var duration = 500;
$(window).scroll(function () {
if ($(this).scrollTop() > offset) {
$('.back-to-top').fadeIn(duration);
} else {
$('.back-to-top').fadeOut(duration);
}
});
$('.back-to-top').on('click', function () {
event.preventDefault();
$('html,body').animate({ scrollTop: 0 }, duration);
return false;
});
$(window).scroll(function () {
if ($(window).scrollTop() + $(window).height() == $(document).height()) {
$('.back-to-top').animate({ 'bottom': '400px' });
} else $('.back-to-top').animate({ 'bottom': '10%' });
});
It seems like adding a class that changes the position of the div, and toggling it when the condition is true solved the problem .
Using this script:
<script>
$(function() {
$(window).scroll(function(){
$('#Your element id').slideUp('slow');
});
});
</script>
Is it possible only to perform the action after the user has scrolled 100px or more?
You do need scrollTop as said. It would be wise to include an 'else' function as well, so that when you scroll back to the top the toggled element gets hidden again. As such:
$(document).ready(function() {
$('#scrollDiv').hide();
$(window).scroll(function() {
if ($(document).scrollTop() > 100) {
$('#scrollDiv').fadeIn('slow');
}
else {
$('#scrollDiv').fadeOut('slow');
}
});
});
Here is a quick jsfiddle
You can use .scrollTop() to get how far the page has been scrolled
<script>
$(function() {
$(window).scroll(function(){
if($(this).scrollTop() > 100) {
$('#Your element id').slideUp('slow');
}
});
});
</script>
