I use date as a string in my chart.
How can I use my start-date and end-date string variables as a label in my xAxis?

Yes, this is possible with the renderer method. See this basic example.

You are going to need to pay attention to the x/y locations (the 2 other params) to place it correctly. You can also modify the text styling.
I'm not sure, but i think you just need to update your xAxis by update method

If your mean that the start and end dates need to tie to edges, you must specify xAxis settings in config
xAxis: {
categories: categoriesArray
}
where categoriesArray is array like this:

It should be the same lenght as your lenght of series data.

You can also use labelFormatter and http://api.highcharts.com/highcharts#xAxis.labels.formatter and check if labels isFirst or isLast then use your dates, in other cases return proper value (like number).

I pass an array of Strings instead of an array of Numbers. Values inside single or double quotes are Strings in JavaScript.

the custom SVG marker symbol I have drawn is rendered differently in the legend than in the chart. I have drawn the marker that I need for the chart but in the legend, the symbol has a thin line to the left.
I have attached a picture below and will include the code, I have spent too much time on this and don't have anyone to ask on this topic. If anyone can help me out, it would be greatly appreciated.

I want that the x-axis has no label when the page is loaded (The reason why I added in a filler text with white font is due to the fact that I don't want the size of the chart change upon click of a button). And upon the click of button, the label should be consecutively 1, 2, 3, 4...
Is there anyway around it except for setting marginBottom (which is not very precise)?
You may use .css() method for changing fill color of your text label.

I'm quite new here (and to web development in general), so please forgive any misuses that I perpetuate... I'm trying to create a basic windrose plot with data returned (in JSON) from the MesoWest Mesonet API service. I'm using HighCharts (or attempting to), and cannot quite get it to work. Perhaps this is due to my methodology of obtaining the data from the API itself as I'm a complete amateur in this regard. The following is the Javascript code, followed by the HTML for the page. I have a HighCharts Treemap showing a set of categories containing subcategories. The point of the graph is to show how much of the data is in Category A, and how much of Category A is in Subcategory A1.

I want to get both the X- and Y axes in the graph to show percentages so I can more easily see how much of my data is in a certain category.
Does anyone know how to do this?
I didn't find anything about axis on treemaps and i'm not really sure if showing a percentage on X and Y axis would help you that much, because you basically have to multiply the values on X and Y(eg. if your subcat B1 is from 20% to 100% on X axis and from 60% to 100% on the Y axis then you would have to do (100% - 20%) * (100% - 60%) = 32%).
I did implement however a tooltip formatter that will show you the percentage when you hover over the subcategories.
