I'm trying to start with jQuery Mobile but I'm stuck when I'm trying to create a left panel with an overlay slide. Here is my code:
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
<head>
<meta charset="UTF-8">
<title>- test-</title>
<meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width, initial-scale=1">
<link rel="stylesheet" href="http://code.jquery.com/mobile/1.0a4.1/jquery.mobile-1.0a4.1.min.css" />
<script type="text/javascript" src="http://code.jquery.com/jquery-1.5.2.min.js"> </script>
<script type="text/javascript" src="http://code.jquery.com/mobile/1.0a4.1/jquery.mobile-1.0a4.1.min.js"></script>
</head>
<body>
<div data-role="page">
<div data-role="panel" id="testPanel" data-theme="e" data-position="left" data-display="overlay">
<h3>Default panel options</h3>
<p>This panel has all the default options: positioned on the left with the reveal display mode. The panel markup is <em>before</em> the header, content and footer in the source order.</p>
<p>To close, click off the panel, swipe left or right, hit the Esc key, or use the button below:</p>
</div>
<div data-role="header">
<h1>test</h1>
Contact
</div>
<div data-role="content">
</div>
<div data-role="footer" data-position="fixed">
<h4>Copyright 2013 - All Rights Reserved -</h4>
</div>
</div>
</body>
</html>
It doesn't work, when I'm clicking on my link button I have this message "Error loading page" and the content of my panel is already shown in the page. Thanks for your help!
Seems like you're using outdated versions of both jQuery and jQuery Mobile frameworks. I would suggest updating to the latest release versions.
Here's a working demo with your same markup using jQuery 1.9.1 and jQuery Mobile 1.3.1
Sliding panels were introduced in JQM 1.3 version. So it won't work for other versions. USe jQuery 1.7.2- 1.9.1 for JQM 1.3
See the blog post for more details : http://jquerymobile.com/blog/2013/02/20/jquery-mobile-1-3-0-released/
If this is not your index page then you are most probably navigate to it through an <a href="yourpage.html>Page</a> in this case jquery uses Ajax request to navigate from one page to another the ajax request does not load the whole content of your page , it only loads the content of the <body> tag i.e any scripts that you are writing inside the <head> tag will not be loaded thus the page will not work properly and you will face error
to solve this you need to use data-ajax="false" inside the <a> attribute to prevent jquery mobile to use Ajax call to load your page.
if it is your index page then please past the js code so we can check it
in all cases check these link
for loading jqm pages and this link problem of ajax call in jqm

I am trying to implement a collapsable sidebar with a form (search field and submit button) for my site.
I have referenced as script:
https://code.jquery.com/jquery-1.11.3.min.js
and
https://code.jquery.com/mobile/1.4.5/jquery.mobile-1.4.5.min.js
However in this combination the form just wont submit, instead it seems to apply the get parameters to the URL and then fires preventDefault of some sort.
It seems like I am using an old version of jQuery , however when I tried to update to:
https://code.jquery.com/jquery-3.2.1.min.js
I noticed that my collapsable menu wont work anymore and the complete style is broken. Also I cant put it in a fiddle since they are mostly already using jQuery.
Sample 1 (Collapse works but form not):
<html>
<head>
<title>Test form</title>
<meta charset="utf-8">
<script src="https://code.jquery.com/jquery-1.11.3.min.js"></script>
<script src="https://code.jquery.com/mobile/1.4.5/jquery.mobile-1.4.5.min.js"></script>
</head>
<body>
<div data-role="page" id="about">
<div data-role="header">
<h1>Header</h1>
</div>
<div data-role="main" class="ui-content">
<div data-role="collapsible">
<h1>Search</h1>
<form method="get">
<input name="test" type="text">
<button type="submit">Send</button>
</form>
</div>
</div>
</div>
</body>
</html>
Sample 2 (Form works but Collapse not):
<html>
<head>
<title>Test form</title>
<meta charset="utf-8">
<script src="https://code.jquery.com/jquery-3.2.1.min.js"></script>
<script src="https://code.jquery.com/mobile/1.4.5/jquery.mobile-1.4.5.min.js"></script>
</head>
<body>
<div data-role="page" id="about">
<div data-role="header">
<h1>Header</h1>
</div>
<div data-role="main" class="ui-content">
<div data-role="collapsible">
<h1>Search</h1>
<form method="get">
<input name="test" type="text">
<button type="submit">Send</button>
</form>
</div>
</div>
</div>
</body>
</html>
For the first sample I also tried to declare a input type button instead of submit and trigger it manually using:
$('#submitbutton').click(function() {
$('#myform').submit();
});
Without success.
Thanks in advance!
jquery mobile version 1.4.5 is only locked to certain older jquery versions and have not been tested onto older versions above jquery2.0
Read more about it here if you need to: http://blog.jquerymobile.com/2013/02/20/jquery-mobile-1-3-0-released/.
This would explain why the jqueryversion 3.2.1 doesn't work with your collapsible form.
Meanwhile on the side of the 1.11.3 version, According to the developer console all you have to do is load up your form on a web server instead of loading it locally on your computer (C:/Folder/.html wont work, you need to use browser extensions like https or http)
I hope this helps you as I myself ain't a professional programmer and can't scratch up a working code for you.
It seems like I was misjudging.
With jQuery mobile comes alot of automatically introduced features for e.g. submitting a form in the background using XHR request and not reloading the site.
Imho they should make this a little bit clearer as I had a hard time figuring this issue out. Solution is: for `s or 's you DONT want to be loaded in background, add the tag: data-ajax="false" like so:
<form action="#" method="get" data-ajax="false">
<a href="" data-ajax="false">
Hope this helps someone.
I have working javascript mobile app which I have been trying to restructure (correctly or incorrectly). The index.html file contained one page (using data-role="page") with various <div> elements that I hide and show depending what the user wants to do. I thought I could improve the structure by putting each of these <div> elements each in their own page (still in the index.html file) using data-role again. However, the subsequent pages lose their javascript functionality. I have created a very simple index.html file to demonstrate:
<html>
<head>
<meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width, initial-scale=1">
<link rel="stylesheet" href="css/jquery.mobile-1.3.2.min.css" />
<script type="text/javascript" src="js/jquery-1.9.1.min.js"/></script>
<script type="text/javascript" src="js/jquery.mobile-1.3.2.min.js"></script>
</head>
<body>
<div data-role="page" id="mainPage">
<INPUT type="button" id="showPageTwo" value="Show Next Page" />
</div>
<div data-role="page" id="secondPage">
<INPUT type="button" id="showMainPage" value="Show Main Page" />
</div>
<script>
$(document).on("pageshow", "#mainPage", function(e) {
alert("Main page");
$("#showPageTwo").click(function()
{
$("#secondPage").show();
$("#mainPage").hide();
});
});
$(document).on("pageshow", "#secondPage", function(e) {
alert("Second page");
$("#showMainPage").click(function()
{
$("#mainPage").show();
$("#secondPage").hide();
});
});
</script>
</body>
</html>
Main page displays correctly, the alert is displayed $("#showPageTwo").click(function() works. But none of the javascript runs when secondPage loads.
Additionally when secondPage is shown it does not have the styling from jquery.mobile-1.3.2.min.css that mainPage has.
What am I doing wrong or misunderstanding? (This is when running the app in the Eclipse AVD)
Additionally, I would like to know:
Is the way I am trying to restructure my code using data-role="page" good or bad practice? Is there a recommended way to structure "pages" in a mobile app?
I also want to put my custom script(s) in their own .js file(s). Can I only load the script shown in the above code before the </body> tag? Is there any way to load it in the header along with all the other scripts?
I am sure I am just missing something basic, but can anyone see anything wrong with the following code? When I click the first button, it does not open a popup. The second button opens the popup as a dialog.
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
<head>
<!-- JQUERY MOBILE CSS -->
<link rel="stylesheet" href="//codeorigin.jquery.com/mobile/1.3.2/jquery.mobile-1.3.2.min.css" />
<!-- JQUERY -->
<script src="//codeorigin.jquery.com/jquery-2.0.3.min.js"></script>
<!-- JQUERY MOBILE -->
<script src="//codeorigin.jquery.com/mobile/1.3.2/jquery.mobile-1.3.2.min.js"></script>
</head>
<body>
<div data-role="page" id="home">
<div data-role="content">
<p>Open Popup</p>
<p>Open Popup(dialog)</p>
</div>
</div>
<div id="menu-items" data-role="popup">
<ul data-role="listview">
<li>google.com</li>
<li>google.com</li>
</ul>
</div>
</body>
</html>
Indeed it's a small thing you're missing! =)
jQuery 1.3 Mobile Pop-up Docs:
...then create a link with the href set to the id of the popup div, and add the attribute data-rel="popup" to tell the framework to open the popup when the link is tapped. This is a similar markup pattern to the dialog widget. A popup div has to be nested inside the same page as the link.
Move the <div id="menu-items"></div> to within the <div id="home" data-role="page"><div> node, then that should be it!
Working jsFiddle included. Dialogs are deprecated as of jQuery Mobile 1.4.0 and will be removed in 1.5.0.
i think there are two things:
I). for opening a popup you have to place popup content inside the data-role='page'
II). for opening a dialog you have to place dialog content outside the data-role='page'
working fiddle : http://jsfiddle.net/REthD/10/
I have a simple jquery mobile page:
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
<head>
<meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width, initial-scale=1.2">
<link rel="stylesheet" href="js/jquery.mobile-1.2.0.css" />
<script src="js/jquery-1.8.2.js"></script>
<script src="js/jquery.mobile-1.2.0.js"></script>
</head>
<body>
<div id="MyContainer">
<!-- ##################### Raw Part ##################### -->
<div data-role="page">
<div data-role="header">
<h1> Hello World </h1>
</div>
</div>
</div>
</body>
</html>
when I execute that page it renders fine with a black header and title.
The reason why that page loads correctly is because jquery-mobile placed new attributes where needed in fact the innerHTML of MyContainer after the page loads is:
<!-- ##################### Parsed Part ##################### -->
<div data-role="page" data-url="/jqueryMobile/TC_Page/main2.html" tabindex="0" class="ui-page ui-body-c ui-page-active" style="min-height: 1464px;">
<div data-role="header" class="ui-header ui-bar-a" role="banner">
<h1 class="ui-title" role="heading" aria-level="1">
Hello World
</h1>
</div>
</div>
In other words the Raw Part turn into the Parsed Part .
I will like to know what jquery.mobile function made the conversion from the Raw Part to the Parsed Part!
The functions $.mobile.changePage(), $.mobile.loadPage() enables me to do that For example I could do:
// place response from SomeUrl inside the div MyContainer and convert it from raw to parsed!
$.mobile.loadPage('SomeUrl', { pageContainer: $('#MyContainer') });
// later then get the child child (note second child) of MyContainer and make that the child of MyContainer
The problem now is:
All those functions: loadPage, ChangePage etc make an ajax call. What if I already have the html that I want to inject ( I have it in webBrowser local storage or in a Cookie)! In other words how can I make this work:
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
<head>
<meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width, initial-scale=1.2">
<link rel="stylesheet" href="js/jquery.mobile-1.2.0.css" />
<script src="js/jquery-1.8.2.js"></script>
<script src="js/jquery.mobile-1.2.0.js"></script>
</head>
<body>
<div id="MyContainer">
</div>
<script>
function SomeFunction(){
var someHTML = localStorate.html1; // html1 = raw part = <div data-role="page"><div data-role="header"><h1> Hello World </h1></div></div>
$("#MyContainer").html(someHTML);
// now here I am stuck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
// how can I make the content of MyContainer go from the raw part to the Parsed Part!
// I am looking for something like:
$JqueryMobile.ParseHTML($("#MyContainer"));
}
</script>
</body>
</html>
Solution
jQuery Mobile provides numerous functions for widget restyling but only one of them will restyle whole page.
$('#index').trigger('pagecreate');
Where #index should be an id of your page DIV.
There is also on other function that can be used here, but unlike trigger('pagecreat'); this function will style only DIV wit data-role="content" attribute. To test this, jsFiddle example trigger('pagecreate'); should be replaced with trigger('create');
$('#index').trigger('create');
If possible SCRIPT tag should not be used inside a BODY tag, while it will work it can cause additional problems. If you want to find more about this topic and how jQuery Mobile handles dynamically added content take a look at this ARTICLE which is a part of my personal blog.
Example
Working example: jsFiddle
This part of code should interest you:
$('#index').append('<div data-role="footer" data-position="fixed"><h1>Dynamicaly added footer</h1></div> ');
$('#index [data-role="content"]').append('<fieldset data-role="controlgroup"><legend>Choose:</legend><input type="radio" name="radio" id="radio1" value="1" checked="checked" /><label for="radio1">option 1</label></fieldset>');
$('#index').trigger('pagecreate');
This code is used to dynamically append page footer and a radio button to page content.
I am using JQuery Mobile to develop my mobile website. Currently, I have to set the 'data-theme' property several times throughout my HTML document to be able to incorporate a particular theme. Is it possible to set the 'data-theme' property once, maybe in a javascript function, or something to that effect? The solution would need the theme to style all my elements. I attempted to solve the issue using CSS style-sheets, but it failed to work as a solution.
My Webpage's HTML:
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
<head>
<script src="jquery.mobile-1.0/demos/jquery.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
<script src="jquery.mobile-1.0/demos/jquery.mobile-1.0.min.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
<script src="CodeGeneral.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
<link rel="stylesheet" href="jquery.mobile-1.0/demos/jquery.mobile-1.0.min.css">
<link rel="stylesheet" href="StyleMaincss.css">
<title>Home</title>
</head>
<body onload="GenerateData();" data-role = "page" >
<div data-role="header" class="HeaderBar">
<img src="Logos v2/Header.png" alt="" class="HeaderImage">
</div>
//Content on page
<div data-role="footer" class="NavBar" data-position="fixed">
<div data-role="navbar">
//Navigation button creation
</div>
</div>
</body>
My javascript:
$(document).delegate("[data-role='page']", 'pagebeforecreate',
function () {
$(this).attr('data-theme', 'a')
}
);
function GenerateData() {
//Things carried out during loading
}
This is from the jQuery Mobile Docs:
The data-theme attribute can be applied to the header and footer
containers to apply any of the lettered theme color swatches. While
the data-theme attribute could be added to the content container, we
recommend adding it instead to div or container that has been assigned
the data-role="page" attribute to ensure that the background color is
applied to the full page. When this is done, all widgets on the page
will also inherit the theme specified in the page container. However,
headers and footers will default to theme "a". If you want to have a
page with, for example, only theme "b" for all its elements, including
its header and footer, you will need to specify data-theme="b" to the
page div as well as the header and footer divs.
Source: http://jquerymobile.com/demos/1.0/docs/pages/pages-themes.html
So basically if you add data-theme="a" to the data-role="page" tags then everything should inherit the a theme. You can test that by messing with the "theme swatch change" links at the top of the link above.
UPDATE
To programmatically change the theme of a page add this code to your site:
$(document).delegate('[data-role="page"]', 'pagecreate', function (e) {
$(this).removeClass('ui-body-a ui-body-b ui-body-c ui-body-d ui-body-e').addClass('ui-body-a').attr('data-theme', 'a');
});
But this creates overhead for the user's browser while rendering the website so I suggest altering the hard-coded data-theme attributes on the data-role="page" tags.
UPDATE
You can also do this inside the mobileinit event handler by changing the page prototype:
<link rel="stylesheet" href="http://code.jquery.com/mobile/1.0/jquery.mobile-1.0.min.css" />
<script src="http://code.jquery.com/jquery-1.6.4.min.js"></script>
<script>
$(document).bind('mobileinit', function () {
$.mobile.page.prototype.options.theme = "a";
});
</script>
<script src="http://code.jquery.com/mobile/1.0/jquery.mobile-1.0.min.js"></script>
This will make any page without a set data-theme attribute default to the a theme.
Here is a demo: http://jsfiddle.net/tEbD5/3/
