The question is that the controller can give json or html piece. How to know what is it?
$(document).on("submit", "form.client-form", function () {
$.ajax({
type: this.method,
url: this.action,
data: $(this).serialize(),
success: function (result) {
if (result is json) {
...
} else if (result is html) {
$("#result").html(result);
}
}
});
});
Another solution...found here: jquery how to check response type for ajax call
$(document).on("form.client-form", "submit", function () {
$.ajax({
type: this.method,
url: this.action,
data: $(this).serialize(),
success: function(result, status, xhr){
var ct = xhr.getResponseHeader("content-type") || "";
if (ct.indexOf('html') > -1) {
//html here
$("#result").html(result);
}
if (ct.indexOf('json') > -1) {
//json here
}
}
});
});
How about using converters? Take a look at Using Converters on jquery ajax api: http://api.jquery.com/jQuery.ajax/
$(document).on("form.client-form", "submit", function () {
$.ajax({
type: this.method,
url: this.action,
data: $(this).serialize(),
success: function (result) {
try {
var response = $.parseJSON(result);
}
catch (ex){
//something else
$("#result").html(result);
}
}
});
});

I have some ajax call like this
function ExportData() {
var data = {
action: "export_database", // the name of your PHP function!
};
jQuery.ajax({
type: "POST",
url: ajaxurl,
data: data,
beforeSend: function () {},
success: function (data) {
alert(data);
},
});
}
And php function like this
function export_database(){
return $response;
}
The problem is in that response I have something like this
{
"type": "https://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc7231#section-6.5.1",
"title": "One or more validation errors occurred.",
"status": 400,
"traceId": "|3fa58ee1-48bf0cb9f60bfa25."
}
I want to alert only title, but when i try data.title , i got undefine
Do I must encode or decode something, thanks?
This is what you need. Just access the object by data.title and it will show in the alert()
You need to define dataType as json in your request.
If its does not work then use JSON.parse(data) like this:
var response = JSON.parse(data)
alert(response.title)
Try below:
function ExportData() {
var data = {
action: "export_database", // the name of your PHP function!
};
jQuery.ajax({
type: "POST",
url: ajaxurl,
dataType: 'json'
data: data,
beforeSend: function () {},
success: function (data) {
alert(data.title);
},
error: function(error){
//Error
alert(error.title)
}
});
}
Hope this helps.
Try Below:
function ExportData() {
var data = {
action: "export_database", // the name of your PHP function!
};
jQuery.ajax({
type: "POST",
url: ajaxurl,
data: data,
beforeSend: function () {},
success: function (data) {
var parsedData = jQuery.parseJSON(data)
alert(parsedData.title);
},
});
}
You have to use JSON.parse() for accessing data objects Like this:
function ExportData() {
var data = {
action: "export_database", // the name of your PHP function!
};
jQuery.ajax({
type: "POST",
url: ajaxurl,
data: data,
beforeSend: function () {},
success: function (data) {
var res = JSON.parse(data)
alert(res.title);
},
});
}
not sure why this isn't working still fairly new with js. I am trying to check if there is any data and if there is then it should add a hidden class or should remove it if it has no data.
$(function() {
$('#search').keyup(function() {
var followerList=$("#followerlist");
if($('#search').val() !== ""){
followerList.addClass('hidden');
}else{
followerList.removeClass('hidden');
};
$.ajax({
type: "POST",
url: "/search/",
data: {
'search_text': $('#search').val(),
'csrfmiddlewaretoken': $("input[name=csrfmiddlewaretoken]").val()
},
success: searchSuccess,
dataType: 'html'
});
});
});
function searchSuccess(data, textStatus, jqXHR)
{
$('#search-results').html(data);
}
Your searchSuccess function has to be like this:
function searchSuccess(data, textStatus, jqXHR)
{
var followerList=$(".followerlist");
$('#search-results').html(data);
if(data !== "")
{
followerList.addClass("hidden");
}
else
{
followerList.removeClass("hidden");
}
}
Is it possible to make an ajax request inside another ajax request?
because I need some data from first ajax request to make the next ajax request.
First I'm using Google Maps API to get LAT & LNG, after that I use that LAT & LNG to request Instagram API (search based location).
Once again, is this possible, and if so how?
$('input#search').click(function(e) {
e.preventDefault();
var source = $('select[name=state] option:selected').text()+' '+$('select[name=city] option:selected').text()+' '+$('select[name=area] option:selected').text();
var source = source.replace(/ /g, '+');
if(working == false) {
working = true;
$(this).replaceWith('<span id="big_loading"></span>');
$.ajax({
type:'POST',
url:'/killtime_local/ajax/location/maps.json',
dataType:'json',
cache: false,
data:'via=ajax&address='+source,
success:function(results) {
// this is where i get the latlng
}
});
} else {
alert('please, be patient!');
}
});
Here is an example:
$.ajax({
type: "post",
url: "ajax/example.php",
data: 'page=' + btn_page,
success: function (data) {
var a = data; // This line shows error.
$.ajax({
type: "post",
url: "example.php",
data: 'page=' + a,
success: function (data) {
}
});
}
});
Call second ajax from 'complete'
Here is the example
var dt='';
$.ajax({
type: "post",
url: "ajax/example.php",
data: 'page='+btn_page,
success: function(data){
dt=data;
/*Do something*/
},
complete:function(){
$.ajax({
var a=dt; // This line shows error.
type: "post",
url: "example.php",
data: 'page='+a,
success: function(data){
/*do some thing in second function*/
},
});
}
});
This is just an example. You may like to customize it as per your requirement.
$.ajax({
url: 'ajax/test1.html',
success: function(data1) {
alert('Request 1 was performed.');
$.ajax({
type: 'POST',
url: url,
data: data1, //pass data1 to second request
success: successHandler, // handler if second request succeeds
dataType: dataType
});
}
});
For more details : see this
$.ajax({
url: "<?php echo site_url('upToWeb/ajax_edit/')?>/" + id,
type: "GET",
dataType: "JSON",
success: function (data) {
if (data.web == 0) {
if (confirm('Data product upToWeb ?')) {
$.ajax({
url: "<?php echo site_url('upToWeb/set_web/')?>/" + data.id_item,
type: "post",
dataType: "json",
data: {web: 1},
success: function (respons) {
location.href = location.pathname;
},
error: function (xhr, ajaxOptions, thrownError) { // Ketika terjadi error
alert(xhr.responseText); // munculkan alert
}
});
}
}
else {
if (confirm('Data product DownFromWeb ?')) {
$.ajax({
url: "<?php echo site_url('upToWeb/set_web/')?>/" + data.id_item,
type: "post",
dataType: "json",
data: {web: 0},
success: function (respons) {
location.href = location.pathname;
},
error: function (xhr, ajaxOptions, thrownError) { // Ketika terjadi error
alert(xhr.responseText); // munculkan alert
}
});
}
}
},
error: function (jqXHR, textStatus, errorThrown) {
alert('Error get data from ajax');
}
});
This is a relatively novice question. I have the following jQuery function:
$(function ()
{
$.ajax({
url: 'testapi.php',
data: "query="+queryType,
dataType: 'json',
success: function(data)
{
var id = data[0];
$('#'+divID).html(id);
}
});
});
I'm looking to name and parameterize the function so that I can call it repeatedly (with the parameters queryType and divID which are already included in the code). I've tried unsuccessfully multiple times. Would anyone have any insight?
Just stick it in a function
function doAjax(queryType, divID) {
return $.ajax({
url: 'testapi.php',
data: {query : queryType},
dataType: 'json'
}).done(function(data) {
var id = data[0];
$('#'+divID).html(id);
});
}
and use it
$(function() {
element.on('click', function() {
var id = this.id
doAjax('get_content', id);
});
});
or
$(function() {
element.on('click', function() {
var id = this.id
doAjax('get_content', id).done(function(data) {
// do something more with the returned data
});
});
});
If you're just looking for a simple function to wrap the ajax call give this a try. Place this function above the document ready code.
function callAjax(queryType, divID) {
$.ajax({
url: 'testapi.php',
data: "query="+queryType,
dataType: 'json',
success: function(data) {
var id = data[0];
$('#'+divID).html(id);
}
});
}
To call the function do this:
callAjax('YourQueryHere', 'YourDivIdHere');
function myFunction(queryType, divID)
{
$.ajax({
url: 'testapi.php',
data: "query="+queryType,
dataType: 'json',
success: function(data)
{
var id = data[0];
$('#'+divID).html(id);
}
});
}
and to call it simply use
myFunction("someQueryType", "myDiv");
function doThis(queryType, divID)
{
$.ajax({
url: 'testapi.php',
data: "query="+queryType,
dataType: 'json',
success: function(data)
{
var id = data[0];
$('#'+divID).html(id);
}
});
}
Here's my code:
First the execution of the program comes here:
refreshTree(function() {
$.ajax({
type: "POST",
url: "/ControllerName/MethodName1",
success: function (data) {
refresh();
}
});
});
Here's the definition of refreshTree():
function refreshTree(callback) {
var isOk = true;
$.ajax({
type: "GET",
url: "/ControllerName/MethodName2",
success: function(data) {
if (data == 'True') {
isOk = false;
}
callback();
}
});
}
And here's the refresh() method:
function refresh() {
if (isOk) {
//do something
}
}
The problem is, I don't know how to get the isOk variable in refresh(). Is there some way to send the variable to refresh(), without it being a global variable?
You capture it in a closure here:
refreshTree(function(isOk) {
$.ajax({
type: "POST",
url: "/ControllerName/MethodName1",
success: function (data) {
refresh(isOk);
}
});
});
And pass it in here:
function refreshTree(callback) {
var isOk = true;
$.ajax({
type: "GET",
url: "/ControllerName/MethodName2",
success: function(data) {
if (data == 'True') {
isOk = false;
}
callback(isOk);
}
});
}
and here:
function refresh(isOk) {
if (isOk) {
//do something
}
}
Simply Pass it as parameter:
refreshTree(function(status) {
$.ajax({
type: "POST",
url: "/ControllerName/MethodName1",
success: function (data) {
refresh(status);
}
});
});
refreshTree() function:
function refreshTree(callback) {
var isOk = true;
$.ajax({
type: "GET",
url: "/ControllerName/MethodName2",
success: function(data) {
var isOk=true;
if (data == 'True') {
isOk = false;
}
callback(isOk);
}
});
}
Refresh() method:
function refresh(status) {
if (status) {
//do something
}
}
