I'm looking for a solution, in which div content changes on page load, randomly. Much like a JavaScript image on page load. I have made further notes in the code below.
I could do a randomize the content like images with JavaScript on page load, but here it's divs and I'm not sure how to change content inside them.
<div class="row BSlots">
<div class="Grid_4 fl">
/* This would be the code which would change */
/* For example once it would be <div class="hello"><p>Hi</p></div> and the other <iframe="Link"/> */
</div>
<div class="Grid_4 fr">
<script>Widget2(); /* Don't mind this, loading an actual JS image randomizer here */</script>
</div>
</div>
Can this be achieved without using JS? If not, I'd appreciate a basic example which I could fiddle with :)
Yes it could be achieved without Javascript. It depends on which serverside-technology you use. You could create a template and insert serverside ransom image-tags.
It is possible too, to do it via javascript.
If you want to use jQuery, you could do something like:
$(function(){
$(".Grid_4 fl").html(generateRandomImageHtml());
});

I've got some pretty simple HTML, a photo and some text but I want to put a javascript element between them. This element is a countdown timer and can be inserted using external javascript.
I have a codepen with the HTML, inline css, and javascript here: https://codepen.io/thomaskwelker/pen/xjwQPj
<div class="kanye-wrapper">
<div class="kanye-photo">
<img src="https://vignette.wikia.nocookie.net/star-clan/images/9/90/Kanye.png">
</div>
<div class="kanye-timer">
<script src="js/kanye.js"></script>
</div>
<div class="kanye-link">
See why
</div>
</div>
I've done hours of Googling and trying things. Could some please tell me how I can get the javascript timer inside the "kanye-timer" div?
Instead of $(document.body).append($r.cvs);, try $('.kanye-timer').append($r.cvs);
This tells the JS to append the timer to the div, rather that just placing it at the end of the document
Your initialization code creates a canvas object that is never attached to any DOM document. The JavaScript snippet doesn't have to be included in line. But you can have a container where you want the canvas to be:
<div class="kanye-wrapper">
<div class="kanye-photo">
<img src="https://vignette.wikia.nocookie.net/star-clan/images/9/90/Kanye.png">
</div>
<div class="kanye-timer" id="timercontainer">
</div>
<div class="kanye-link">
See why
</div>
</div>
<script src="js/kanye.js"></script>
Now within your kanye.js, write something like this:
document.getElementById('timercontainer').appendChild($r.cvs);
Of course this is not portable code. Once you make it work you can externalize the container ID as a parameter.
I have a banner in a div and I like to place it on home page which automatically reflects on rest of the pages?? Is it possible ?? without placing the code on the each page specifically ??.
Any help would be appreciate :)
If you're using PHP, you can write the whole banner in html, then save it as .php (e.g. banner.php). Then somewhere before the content of each of your pages, use PHP's include
keyword
For each of your page you can write it this way:
<body>
<div id='banner'>
<?php include "/path/to/banner.php"; ?>
</div>
<div id='content'>
<!-- Main content here -->
</div>
</body>
Either this can happen with php as #javiniar-leonard recommends, or you can use css.
In every page the basic structure is the same I guess. So target the div and place the div as background:
.main{
background:url("../your_banner_url.jpg");
}
I have this code for the header
<div id="header">
<IMG SRC="http://danithemes.fanscity.eu/shugar/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/header-principal.png">
</div>
And this code for the main menu
<div id="menu">
Link One,
Link Two,
Link Three
</div>
I want the header image to fade into another image through the main menu links. Is this possible? Thanks.
First of all most W3C folks will get mad at you for this line <div id="header">
Anything syntactically named with an id the same as a generic HTML object tag needs to just be that tag. Anything good enough to give an id of id='header' should probably just be a <header> tag.
Secondly, I am unsure what the question is asking fully so let's go with something not yet said. #Parody showed a fiddled way of having the images change on click. The part of your question that said I want the header image to fade into another image through the main menu links. Is this possible? is difficult to understand so I am going to assume that you want some kind of event to trigger the changing of the images? There are many ways to do this but the best of which (especially for beginning programmers) is to use Bootstrap version 3.0+ since it comes with HTML driven stuff that usually requires JavaScript/JQuery to accomplish.
If you don't want to use Bootstrap then that's fine here is an example of how to use a hover event to trigger the change using JQuery...
HTML
<div id="header">
<img src="http://danithemes.fanscity.eu/shugar/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/header-principal.png" />
</div>
<div id="menu">
Link One
Link Two
Link Three
</div>
JAVASCRIPT/JQUERY
$(".navLink").each(function() {
$(this).hover(function() {
$("#header img").css({"background-image":"url($(this).attr('data-image'))"});
});
});
Only this much now: I'm creating a vcard design for myself. My motivation is to make it look as good as possible. I want to apply to a webdesign company with this vcard to get a professional education for webdesign.
I still have a lot to change till it completely fulfills in my requirements, but this is my current version of the design I just uploaded to get you an overview over the design.
So as you can see it's focused on retro, vintage, ribbons and scetch elements.
Right know I want to get rid of these jerking content refreshs. So I thought a dynamic content swap via ajax and jQuery would be the best way to do it.
I never did much with js or actually ajax.
I want to ask you guys about a solution you think benefits in my design. I was thinking about something smoothly.
The content which needs to be changed is placed in
<nav>
(...)
<ul class="ribbon s"><!--Following links got the class="ribbon b/p/l/k"-->
<li class="ribbon-content">Link</li>
<!--
?content=blog
?content=portfolio
?content=lebenslauf
?content=kontakt
-->
</ul>
(...)
</nav>
<section id="content">
<div class="con clearfix">
(...)
</div><!--An empty div for possibly swapping without touching the vintage paper thing -->
</section>
http://robert-richter.com/boilerplate/
for example use jquery.
first add jquery to your html. within the domready-event you can register click events on your ribbon-menue. on each click you load the div-content from the given link-url in the html-part.
<script src="//ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.10.2/jquery.min.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript">
$.ready(function(){
$(".ribbon-content a").on("click", function(event){
event.preventDefault();
$(".con").load($(event.target).attr("href"), function(){
// add code after loading - for example change classes of menue
})
});
})
</script>
additionly you can the the browser-history to enable the prev- and next-buttons of the browser.
I'm using Jquery mobile for my mobile application. before I changing a page I want to make some CSS changes on that page. When I am setting for example adding class to id of the next page,or color change: $("#divA1").css("background-color","blue");
It change the same id on the current page (if it exist) and only then change next page. How can I set my CSS settings while on one page but load the next page with those CSS settings.
In most scenarios, jQuery Mobile loads additional pages into the DOM via ajax calls. This is a fairly fundamental part of how it works and you should insure that all markup IDs across all pages are unique.
<div id="page1" data-role="page">
<div data-role="content">
<div id="myContent1"></div>
</div>
</div>
<div id="page2" data-role="page">
<div data-role="content">
<div id="myContent2"></div>
</div>
</div>
If your pages contain similar sub-componants, consider a class instead:
<div id="page1" data-role="page">
<div data-role="content">
<div class="myContent"></div>
</div>
</div>
<div id="page2" data-role="page">
<div data-role="content">
<div class="myContent"></div>
</div>
</div>
Classes allow for selection such as $("#page1.myContent").css("background-color");
If it must be on a new page, you have three options.
You can pass a variable in the URL to test on the new page and change the CSS appropriately. eg. www.url.com?newcolor=f00
You can put a hidden form on the current page, update the values in it and pass it when you go to the next page. (Ugly way to do it but it works.)
Set a cookie. (My preferred solution, works great as long as cookies are enabled. Which, honestly, they may not be.)
However, the best option, especially on a mobile device is to keep the current framework of the page and get new content via ajax and load it into a content div on the current page.
I don't understand exactly what you're trying to do, but I would suggest you using an asynchronous ajax call to download the DOM of the next page.
Then you can apply the changes you want to that DOM, and finally you plug it into your current DOM.
An stub for that woul look like this:
$.ajax('path/to/next/page', {
async : true,
complete : function ajaxCallback(newSite) {
$item = $('YOURSELECTOR');
// Here you can make changes, such as CSS edition
$item.css({'background-color' : '#FF0000'});
// Since you want to make changes to the new site only if you did them in the first site...
if ($item.length > 0) {
$(newSite).find('YOURSELECTOR').css({'background-color' : '#FF0000'});
}
// Here you can append the new site to the DOM
}
});
