Select2 not getting data via AJAX - javascript

I have the following code which should be getting data via AJAX using Select2
$('#Organisation').select2({
ajax: {
url: AppURL + 'Organisations/Manage/SearchByName/',
dataType: 'json',
quietMillis: 100,
data: function (term) {
return {
term: term
};
},
results: function (data) {
return {
results: data
};
}
}
});
If I look at the request using Web Inspector when searching 'O' I get:
[{"label":"Organisation 1","ID":2},{"label":"Organisation 2","ID":1}]
Any ideas what I'm doing wrong? I'd presume something incorrect in the results function.
The error I get is: Uncaught TypeError: Cannot call method 'toUpperCase' of undefined

Try
$('#Organisation').select2({
ajax: {
url: 'data.json',
dataType: 'json',
quietMillis: 100,
data: function (term) {
return {
term: term
};
},
results: function (data) {
var results = [];
$.each(data, function(index, item){
results.push({
id: item.ID,
text: item.label
});
});
return {
results: results
};
}
}
});
Demo: Plunker

Other than above solution you can do one thing, instead of returning following json
[{"label":"Organisation 1","ID":2},{"label":"Organisation 2","ID":1}]
return this
[{"text":"Organisation 1","id":2},{"text":"Organisation 2","id":1}]
faced the same problem and figured this out after looking at few solutions proposed by other.

Select2 AJAX not showing "No data found" when no data in database, instead showing search parameter as option to select

I've been working on a project where I've to load select2 option from ajax call.
The code is working fine, except in search result, it always shows search parameter as option. Even if there is no data in database, it still showing it as option, not showing "No data found".
My code is here
$(".search_user").select2({
minimumInputLength: 11,
tags: [],
ajax: {
url: "/user/get_user",
dataType: 'json',
type: "GET",
quietMillis: 250,
data: function (term) {
return {
term: term
};
},
processResults: function (data) {
var Return = [];
for (var i in data.item) {
console.log(data.item[i])
if (data.item[i].id != data.item[i].text) {
Return.push(data.item[i]);
}
}
return {
results: Return
}
}
}
});
my return json is like this
{"item":[{"id":16,"name":"Razin Abid"}]}
My view is looking like this.
Please help me out.
If you using firemodal on stisla
$('#modal-create-promo').click(()=>{
setTimeout(()=>{
$('#fire-modal-1').removeAttr('tabindex');
});
});
$("#modal-create-promo").fireModal({
...
});
It's work for me
Thats because you enable tags option from select2. You need to remove 'Tags:[]' from your code.
visit : https://select2.org/tagging
so, your code should be like this:
$(".search_user").select2({
minimumInputLength: 11,
ajax: {
url: "/user/get_user",
dataType: 'json',
type: "GET",
quietMillis: 250,
data: function (term) {
return {
term: term
};
},
processResults: function (data) {
var Return = [];
for (var i in data.item) {
console.log(data.item[i])
if (data.item[i].id != data.item[i].text) {
Return.push(data.item[i]);
}
}
return {
results: Return
}
}
}
});

Change remote url based on search query

I have a select2 field which is retrieving data from a remote api. I can get that working. What I'm trying to do is change the remote url based on what the user has typed. If the first two letters typed are for example "AA" then search using a url and when the first two characters are "88" then search using another url.
This is my code so far:
this.selector.select2({
minimumInputLength: 2,
ajax: {
url: function(param){return 'http://localhost:3000/suggestions?&'},
dataType: 'json' ,
data: function (params) {
var query = {
search: params.term,
}
return query;
},
processResults: function(data) {
var results = [];
$.each(data, function (index, search) {
results.push({
id: search.id,
text: search.val
});
});
return {
"results":results
};
},
},
width: 'resolve',
});
I've looked but can't find an event which is fired when typing(searching).
According to docs the params argument passed to url callback is the same as in data callback. So you can rewrite your code as:
this.selector.select2({
minimumInputLength: 2,
ajax: {
url: function (params) {
var firstTwoLetters = params.term.slice(0, 2);
if (firstTwoLetters == '88') {
return 'some url';
} else if (firstTwoLetters == 'AA') {
return 'another url'
} else {
return 'http://localhost:3000/suggestions?&'
}
},
dataType: 'json',
data: function (params) {
var query = {
search: params.term,
}
return query;
},
processResults: function (data) {
var results = [];
$.each(data, function (index, search) {
results.push({
id: search.id,
text: search.val
});
});
return {
"results": results
};
},
},
width: 'resolve',
});
I hope I understood your last request correctly.
The oninput event occurs as you type.
note: I'd rather comment it and not use Answer, however, I have less than 50 rep.

How to use select2 plugin with php and ajax?

I am new to select2 plugin, my problem is,
I want to put a job search option to my web page that is when user queries with keyword php then it will return corresponding data as json. For example if user enters java then it will return most possible words like java, javascript, java.net and user can pick up one or more item from the list displayed.
i did but there is no select option
script
$(".load").select2({
minimumInputLength: 2,
ajax: {
url: "http://localhost/testserver/Test",
dataType: 'json',
type: "post",
data: function (term, page) {
return {
q: term
};
},
processResults: function (data, page) {
console.log(data);
return {
results: $.map(data, function (item) {
return {
text: item.Name,
}
})
};
}
},
});
html
<select class="load" style="width:400px;">
Find below Complete solution
$(document).ready(function() {
$(".load").select2({
minimumInputLength: 2,
ajax: {
url: "http://ip.jsontest.com/",
dataType: 'json',
type: "post",
data: function (term, page) {
return {
q: term
};
},
processResults: function (data, page) {
return {
results: $.map(data, function (item) { console.log(item);
return {
text: item
}
})
};
}
},
});
});
I have pointed url to some other location for dynamic data..Please make changes accordingly

Creating multidimensional array inside each

I want to create a multidimensional array from the values I retrieved on an ajax post request.
API response
[{"id":"35","name":"IAMA","code":"24"},{"id":"23","name":"IAMB","code":"08"}]
jQuery code
var mulArr = [];
$.ajax({
type: 'POST',
url: '/path/to/APIendpoint',
dataType: 'json',
data: {
codes: codes
},
success: function(data) {
$.each(data, function(key, value) {
mulArr[key]['id'] = value.code;
mulArr[key]['text'] = value.name;
});
}
});
Syntax error
TypeError: mulArr[key] is undefined
I can properly fetch the data from the endpoint, the only error I encounter is the one I stated above. In perspective, all I want to do is simply a multidimensional array/object like this:
mulArr[0]['id'] = '24';
mulArr[0]['text'] = 'IAMA';
mulArr[1]['id'] = '08';
mulArr[1]['text'] = 'IAMB';
or
[Object { id="24", text="IAMA"}, Object { id="08", text="IAMB"}]
It happens because mulArr[0] is not an object, and mulArr[0]['id'] will throw that error. Try this:
var mulArr = [];
$.ajax({
type: 'POST',
url: '/path/to/APIendpoint',
dataType: 'json',
data: {
codes: codes
},
success: function(data) {
$.each(data, function(key, value) {
mulArr.push({id: parseInt(value.code), text: value.name});
// or try this if select2 requires id to be continuous
// mulArr.push({id: key, text: value.name});
});
}
});
Alternative to using push (which is a cleaner approach) is to define the new object.
mulArr[key] = {
id: value.code,
text:value.name
};
Another way of achieving what you want would be this one:
var mulArr = [];
$.ajax({
type: 'POST',
url: '/path/to/APIendpoint',
dataType: 'json',
data: {
codes: codes
},
success: function(data) {
mulArr = data.map(value => ({ id: parseInt(value.code), text: value.name }));
}
});
This is cleaner and also uses builtin map instead of jQuery $.each. This way you also learn the benefits of using the map function (which returns a new array) and also learn useful features of ES2015.
If you cannot use ES6 (ES2015) here is another version:
mulArr = data.map(function (value) {
return {
id: parseInt(value.code),
text: value.name
};
});
I guess you can already see the advantages.

AJAX/ json returning null open cart

Hi Im attempting a simple ajax request but I keep getting a null value for json.
Here is my javascript...
<script>
$(document).ready( function() {
$('#donate-box-submit').on('click', function() {
var donate_code = $('#charity-campaign-code').val();
var donate_amount = $('#charity-campaign-amount').val();
$.ajax({
url: 'index.php?route=donate/donatenow',
type: 'post',
data: {
donate_code: donate_code,
donate_amount: donate_amount
},
dataType: 'json',
beforeSend: function() {
},
complete: function() {
},
success: function(json) {
console.log(json);
alert(json['test']);
},
error: function() {
}
});
});
});
</script>
and my php...
public function donatenow() {
$json = array(
'test' => 'Output this text'
);
$this->response->setOutput(json_encode($json));
}
I have also tried echo json_encode($json); just to rule out any issues with that OpenCart function, but the same issue is still there.
The problem is the route you are using to call the method. Not sure on exactly what class you are using as the controller, but there should be three parts to the route: route=aaa/bbb/donatenow where as you've got aaa/donatenow
