I am working on a public api in rails, something very simple.
Currently I have an jsonp callback in my tag class that looks like the following when invoked.
JSON:
{
"tag":
{
"id": 1,
"tag_code": "<script type=\"text\/javascript\">alert(\"hello world\"); <\/script>"
}
}
my goal is to get this code onto a remote page.
I have tried using ajax to do so, However I am to understand that jquery does not allow for external script tags to be loaded onto a page for security purposes.
JQuery on remote page
function fetchTagData(id)
{
$.ajax(
{
url: "http://localhost:3000/tag/" + id + ".js",
dataType: "jsonp",
type: "GET",
processData: false,
contentType: "application/json",
success: function(data)
{
var code = data['tag']['tag_code'];
console.log(code);
$('#test').append(code);
}
});
};
when I view the console i see the js in all of its glory and the alert box appears. When I view source or inspect element the js is not on the page.
Does anyone have an idea of how I can get the js to appear on the page using a similar method or the same?
json like this
{
"tag":
{
"id": 1,
"tag_code": "alert(\"hello world\");"
}
}
run code using eval
function fetchTagData(id)
{
$.ajax(
{
url: "http://localhost:3000/tag/" + id + ".js",
dataType: "jsonp",
type: "GET",
processData: false,
contentType: "application/json",
success: function(data)
{
var code = data['tag']['tag_code'];
console.log(code);
eval(code);
}
});
};

I'm using the following code in my chat bot (using v4 azure MS bot framework), to query the question and answers (Client side code - using plain JavaScript and J Query),
function generateAnswer()
{
var question = {
question: "will you marry me"
}
$.ajax({
type: "POST",
url: "https://YourEndPointURL/qnamaker/knowledgebases/eb895acb-e034-4f7c-asda7c-1955458ecec6/generateAnswer&$filter=source eq 'Editorial'",
data: JSON.stringify(question),
beforeSend: function (xhr) {
xhr.setRequestHeader('Authorization','EndpointKey c44444_Your_Endpoint_Key_4556');
},
dataType: "json",
contentType: "application/json",
success: function (data) {
console.log(data);
console.log(data.answers[0].answer);
}
});
}
while using this code, i"m getting the following error response
The resource you are looking for has been removed, had its name
changed, or is temporarily unavailable.
So please help me with the correct syntax to apply filter for my query.
According to https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/cognitive-services/qnamaker/how-to/metadata-generateanswer-usage, you need to specify filters in the body (the data property)
function generateAnswer()
{
var data = {
question: "will you marry me",
strictFilters: [
{
"name": "source",
"value": "Editorial"
}],
}
$.ajax({
type: "POST",
url: "https://YourEndPointURL/qnamaker/knowledgebases/eb895acb-e034-4f7c-asda7c-1955458ecec6/generateAnswer",
data: JSON.stringify(data),
beforeSend: function (xhr) {
xhr.setRequestHeader('Authorization','EndpointKey c44444_Your_Endpoint_Key_4556');
},
dataType: "json",
contentType: "application/json",
success: function (data) {
console.log(data);
console.log(data.answers[0].answer);
}
});
}
Moreover, you are missing 2 things:
your hostname, to replace YourEndPointURL
endpoint key, to replace c44444_Your_Endpoint_Key_4556
This is my simple code to call asmx webservice (xml).
function maxTransaccion() {
$.ajax({
type: "POST",
url: "WebService.asmx/MAxTransaccion",
contentType: "application/json; charset=utf-8",
dataType: "json",
crossDomain: true,
success: function(s) {
return s.d;
}
});
}
But I received this error:
message: "s is not defined"
proto: Error
I am doing something wrong? I use this ajax structure multiple times within a .js file. But only in this function it gives me error, what scares me is that it is so simple
First of all, if your service responds with a XML, then you should adapt for that:
$.ajax({
type: "POST",
url: "WebService.asmx/MAxTransaccion",
dataType: "xml",
crossDomain: true,
success: function(s) {
return s.d;
}
});
I think changing dataType and omitting contentType might do the trick.
The next thing that could be improved is your success-handler.
Check for the property first, before using it:
function(s) {
if (s && s['d']) {
doSomethingWith(s.d);
}
}
But because you are most likely receiving a XML and not a JSON-object, you might want something like this:
function(xml) {
var responseNode = $(xml).find('node');
doSomethingWith(responseNode.text());
}
Also like mentioned in the comments, just returning in an AJAX-call, will probably do nothing. So you need another function, where you get your result and doSomethingWithIt.
I have a web api controller that is called by ajax query from my page. All works fine when the async value is set to true. When is set to false the ajax query does not fires. See below my code
C# web api controller
using System;
using Microsoft.Xrm.Sdk;
using CRM_WebApp.Models;
using System.Web.Http;
using System.Web.Http.Cors;
using Microsoft.Xrm.Sdk.Query;
using CRM_WebApp.Services;
using System.Text.RegularExpressions;
namespace CRM_WebApp.Controllers
{
[EnableCors(origins: "*", headers: "*", methods: "*")]
public class CallBackFormController : ApiController
{
[System.Web.Http.HttpPost]
public System.Web.Http.IHttpActionResult Post([System.Web.Http.FromBody] CallBackFormModel CallBackFormModel)
{
ConnectiontoCrm connectiontoCrm = new ConnectiontoCrm();
connectiontoCrm.GetConnectiontoCrmCopy();
//Create Lead
Entity lead = new Entity("lead");
lead["firstname"] = CallBackFormModel.FirstName;
return Json(new { result = "ok" });
}
}
}
Below is my ajax query
<script>
$("input[name='crm']").click(function(){
var Data = {FirstName : $("input[name='user_name']").val()};
makeAjaxCall(Data);
});
function makeAjaxCall(Data){
$.ajax({
url: "http://localhost:54360///api/CallBackForm",
type: "POST",
dataType: "json",
async: false,
contentType: 'application/json',
data: JSON.stringify(Data),
success: function(data){
alert("DONESUCCESS");
},
error: function(data){
alert("DONEERROR");
}
});
}
</script>
I'm not sure how can i change my code to get the error
Async:false is not a good practice. Setting async:false means you are making the process synchronous, so the browser will hang on it until it is finished -- it can't move on to your other method. Removing that option will make the call asynchronous (by default, as it should be).
if you still want to go with async:false then read the link-
http://api.jquery.com/jQuery.ajax/
It seems to be working properly, I used Fake Online REST API from github
(function CallTheServer() {
$.ajax({
url: "https://jsonplaceholder.typicode.com/posts",
type: "POST",
dataType: "json",
async: false, /* change it to true or false see the effect of alert('Check me out too'), following the ajax*/
contentType: 'application/json',
data: JSON.stringify({
title: 'foo',
body: 'bar',
userId: 1
}),
success: function(data){
alert("DONESUCCESS " + JSON.stringify(data));
},
error: function(data){
alert("DONEERROR");
}
});
alert('Check me out too');
})()

I have an older JAX-RS application that I'm running on IBM Liberty profile 16.0.0.4 with the jaxrs-2.0 feature. I'm getting some weird behavior that I can't explain, and need some help.
JAX-RS service code:
#Path("/loadData")
#POST
#Produces("text/plain")
public String loadData(#Context HttpServletRequest request) {
String id = request.getParameter("id");
String email = request.getParameter("email");
// add'l request processing code
}
JQuery code:
$(document).ready(function() {
var reqData = {id:"123456", email:"user#email.com"};
$.ajax({
type: "POST",
cache: false,
url: "http://localhost:9080/jaxrs/loadData",
data: reqData,
contentType: "application/json",
dataType: "json",
timeout: "30",
beforeSend: function() { ... },
success: function(data) { .... },
complete: function(data) { .... }
});
});
JQuery (in IE) Results:
request.getParameter("id") or ("email") = null;
request.toString() = org.apache.cxf.jaxrs.impl.HttpServletRequestFilter#f272c8dc
IOUtils.toString(request.getInputStream) = "id=123456&email=user1%40email.com"
SoapUI Results:
request.getParameter("id") = 123456 and ("email") = user#email.com;
request.toString() = org.apache.cxf.jaxrs.impl.HttpServletRequestFilter#de62638a
IOUtils.toString(request.getInputStream) = ""
I compared the RAW HTTP request in SoapUI and in IE's console, they both appears to be the same, as far as I can tell. So that's really got me confused, both JQuery and SoapUI are performing POST, but seems in IE's case the query stream is not being parsed into parameters, rather just maintained as a string. I've tried to mess around with the contentType and request declaration with no effects. I was originally using JQuery 1.7.1, but I tried on 3.1.1 with no effects. Has anyone seen this before. Any help or insights would be really great, thanks!
Try using "JSON.strigify" for params
$(document).ready(function() {
var reqData = {id:"123456", email:"user#email.com"};
$.ajax({
type: "POST",
cache: false,
url: "http://localhost:9080/jaxrs/loadData",
data: JSON.stringify(reqData),
contentType: "application/json",
dataType: "json",
timeout: "30",
beforeSend: function() { ... },
success: function(data) { .... },
complete: function(data) { .... }
});
});
I have a JSON file which i want to load end it is working fine when I am trying to load that file locally from my hard drive.
function save(){
$.ajax({
type: "GET",
url: 'cameras.json',
dataType: "JSON",
async : false,
success: function(data) {
var output = data.result["0"].Address;
alert(output);
},
error: function(data) {
alert("Error")
}
});
}
When i want to get access to this JSON file from my server:
function save(){
$.ajax({
type: "GET",
url: 'http://192.168.0.21:8080/json.html?type=cameras',
dataType: "JSON",
async : false,
success: function(data) {
var output = data.result["0"].Address;
alert(output);
},
error: function(data) {
alert("Error")
}
});
}
It's not working and I am getting error script.
What can be issue with that ?
I had the same problem.
Unfortunately, I think that remote (i.e. away from localhost) ajax calls are forbidden - or something similar - for security reasons.
Depending on your purposes, you can resolve the problem with a 2-steps action:
You can call - via ajax - a local server class which loads the remote file via REST web service.I solved this way...
