I am using a picklist in visualforce page, through apex:inputField in a form. I am saving that value in custom object. And that value is being saved in object. But when I will open that record in the same form (visualforce page). When the form is being loaded that saved value was there. but when the form has been loaded, the value become null and --None-- was selected.
I tried to use javascript with alert, but it was showing that right value. I couldn't find out the issue.
I have used below code:
<apex:pageBlockSectionItem id="Menopausal_StatusItem">
<apex:outputText value="Menopausal Status:" />
<apex:outputPanel >
<apex:inputField value="{!msd.AgeVal__c}" id="ageValId" label="" style="display:none;"/>
<apex:inputField value="{!msd.Menopausal_Status__c}" id="Menopausal_Status" required="true"/>
</apex:outputPanel>
</apex:pageBlockSectionItem>
<!--<script>
alert('{!msd.Menopausal_Status__c}');
alert(document.getElementById('pageId:formId:pageBlockId:pageBlockSectionId:Menopausal_StatusItem:Menopausal_Status').value);
</script>
-->
This is a dependent picklist (msd.Menopausal_Status_c) and the controlling pick list is msd.AgeVal_c.
Please help me. Thanks in advance.
I think this has to do with the dependent pick lists. Do you have a value in AgeVal__c? If not, Menopausal_Status__c might not be correctly rendered when loading it in the Visualforce page.
You could verify this by temporarily making the controlling pick list visibility, to check its content.

I'm trying to use AlpineJS to update the displayed data from localStorage every time I click a button.
I have two buttons that use setItem to update the value in localStorage.
This all works, but I can't figure out how to use AlpineJS to update the displayed data (using getItem) when the button is clicked.
When the button is clicked, the value in localStorage does change, but I have to reload the page to update the data on FE.
Could someone give me some advice on how to solve this using AlpineJS?

I'm new to AlpineJS and I've tried the documentation, but I really don't know how to grasp it.
Thank you in advance for any tips
Your approach is not working because localStorage is not reactive, so you need a page reload to see the mutated state. Everything you do on the frontend should utilize reactive Alpine.js variables and use a watcher to sync the state of these variables with the localStorage. Furthermore Alpine.js provides a localStorage plugin, so you don't even have to sync them manually just put a $persist() to the respective variables:
<!-- Alpine Plugins -->
<script defer src="https://unpkg.com/#alpinejs/persist#3.x.x/dist/cdn.min.js"></script>
<!-- Alpine Core -->
<script defer src="https://unpkg.com/alpinejs#3.x.x/dist/cdn.min.js"></script>
<div x-data="{ name: $persist('') }">
<button #click="name = 'Link'">Set name to Link</button>
<button #click="name = 'Zelda'">Set name to Zelda</button>
<div x-text='`Selected name: ${name}`'></div>
</div>
I'm looking to change the title of an html page according to certain form elements, as well as some text found on that page. I found a good site describing how using Javascript can do almost what I need, located here: http://www.devx.com/tips/Tip/13469.
The problem with the script found there is that the option to change the title is restricted to the textarea, or if I try to include another element, I get an error message. I authored web page/form templates, nothing complicated, where the intended users, who, shall we say, are not very computer literate(one of them has never used computers), fill out certain textareas and drop-down options and then save the pages in an ARCHIVE folder. To make it easier for them, I would like to give them the luxury of saving the pages without having to type the relevant date and # (each form is basically one of a series of 59), essentially standardizing the titles of the saved pages which should make it easier to categorize them using another script in the future. Can the code below(the one found in the above web site) be extended to include more than one html item, such as the select drop-down options found below, and maybe something found inside elements such as a or div?
<HTML>
<HEAD><TITLE>Change Title Dynamically:</TITLE></HEAD>
<BODY>
<FORM action="" method=POST name="SampleForm">
<B>Enter Title for the window:</B>
<TEXTAREA NAME=WindowTitle ROWS=1 COLS=50></TEXTAREA>
<INPUT TYPE=BUTTON VALUE="Change Title" ONCLICK="javascript:UpdateTitle()">
</FORM>
<SCRIPT LANGUAGE="JAVASCRIPT">
<!--
function UpdateTitle()
{
document.title = document.SampleForm.WindowTitle.value;
}
</SCRIPT>
</BODY>
</HTML>
<SELECT>
<option>-----</option>
<OPTION>JAN</OPTION>
<OPTION>FEB</OPTION>
<OPTION>MAR</OPTION>
<OPTION>APR</OPTION>
<OPTION>MAY</OPTION>
<OPTION>JUN</OPTION>
<OPTION>JUL</OPTION>
<OPTION>AUG</OPTION>
<OPTION>SEP</OPTION>
<OPTION>OCT</OPTION>
<OPTION>NOV</OPTION>
<OPTION>DEC</OPTION>
</SELECT>
I would recommend jQuery to get the values of the fields you want to display in the title and set it. More info on jQuery can be found at http://jquery.com/
You can use a jQuery selectors to get the values of the fields and concatenate it accordingly. Something like this:
document.title = $('textarea').val() + ' - ' + $('select').val();
I'm having problems trying to send input fields values to a Jasper report. I know how to send parameters to a report but I always did this using the show.gsp view because it was quite simple to do something like this:
<g:jasperReport controller="liquidacionDeEstano" action="crearReporte" jasper="liquidacion_estano" format="PDF" name="ReporteLiquidacion${liquidacionDeEstanoInstance.lote}">
<input type="hidden" name="LIQ_SN_ID" value="${liquidacionDeEstanoInstance.id}" />
</g:jasperReport>
Where LIQ_SN_ID is a "static" parameter used by the report.
But now I want to fill some input fields and use this values as parameters. So, what I'm doing is to use some input fields out of the jasperReport tags and hidden fields inside the jasperReport tags. Then I copy the values from the input fields to the hidden fields using JavaScript.
To generate the report I'm just using SQL and the parameters passed are used for filtering.
This is my controller closure to create the report (I think I don't need anything else but the parameters):
def crearReporte = {
chain(controller:'jasper',action:'index',params:params)
}
This is the code in the GSP form to invoke the report:
<g:jasperReport controller="reporteLotesRecepcionados" action="crearReporte" jasper="reporte_recepcion_fechas" format="PDF" name="ReportePorFechas">
<input type="hidden" id="ELEMENTO_1" name="ELEMENTO_1" />
<input type="hidden" id="ELEMENTO_CLASS_1" name="ELEMENTO_CLASS_1" />
<input type="hidden" id="FECHA_INICIAL_1" name="FECHA_INICIAL_1"/>
<input type="hidden" id="FECHA_FINAL_1" name="FECHA_FINAL_1"/>
<input type="hidden" id="ESTADO_LOTE_1" name="ESTADO_LOTE_1"/>
</g:jasperReport>
I checked that all the parameters are correct (hidden fields values) using Firebug and a Web Developer extension for Firefox but when I click the link to the report this error is produced:
Timestamp: 23/12/2013 07:20:00 p.m.
Error: TypeError: link.parentNode._format is undefined
Source File: http://localhost:8080/Liquidaciones/reporteLotesRecepcionados/create
Line: 660
Following the link to the error this automatic generated code is shown:
<script type="text/javascript">
function submit_reporterecepcionfechas(link) {
link.parentNode._format.value = link.title;
link.parentNode.submit();
return false;
}
</script>
I don't know what I'm doing wrong. In fact this is the first time I try to generate a report using values as parameters from input fields.
Please help me with this.
Thank you in advance.
I know this have been here for 11 months withuoth an answer so...
Jasper tags uses their own form and since html forbids to have nested forms:
Content model: Flow content, but with no form element descendants.
(HTML)
Jasper documentation says : "Note that the jasperReport tag should not be nested with a form element, as it uses a form element in its implementation, and nesting of forms is not allowed."
Finally I solved it but I'm not sure how I did it. Ok, here is what I did:
As you know, since Grails 2 (I think) there is a form.gsp used by the create.gsp and edit.gsp views. I was using just the create.gsp (and, in consequence, the form.gsp) view to have the input fields to obtain parameters to generate reports. Initially I located the code:
<g:jasperReport controller="reporteLotesRecepcionados" action="crearReporte" jasper="reporte_recepcion_fechas" format="PDF" name="ReportePorFechas">
<input type="hidden" id="ELEMENTO_1" name="ELEMENTO_1" />
<input type="hidden" id="ELEMENTO_CLASS_1" name="ELEMENTO_CLASS_1" />
<input type="hidden" id="FECHA_INICIAL_1" name="FECHA_INICIAL_1"/>
<input type="hidden" id="FECHA_FINAL_1" name="FECHA_FINAL_1"/>
<input type="hidden" id="ESTADO_LOTE_1" name="ESTADO_LOTE_1"/>
</g:jasperReport>
INSIDE the <g:form></g:form> tags. So, I tried, as an experiment, to copy the code to declare the input fields and the code to generate the report from form.gsp file to create.gsp, OUTSIDE the <g:form></g:form> tags (I'm not using the form.gsp file anymore). And that was all. It's working perfectly now.
As I told you I don't know how this problem has been solved. Maybe it is mandatory to have the tags outside any <g:form></g:form> tags...
...but why?
PD.: I created a domain class to have the form to enter the values that were going to be parameters. All of you must be thinking this was completely unnecessary and that having an ordinary HTML form was enough , well, I'm a Grails newbie, sorry.
I am doing a portlet in Liferay with a form like this:
<form method="post" action="<%=actionAddRule.toString() %>" id="myForm" >
<aui:select name="attribute" style="float: left;">
<c:forEach var="attr" items="${fields}">
<aui:option value="${attr}" selected="${condition.attribute==attr}">${attr}</aui:option>
</c:forEach>
</aui:select>
<aui:input type='button' value="Add Condition" name='addCondition' onClick="addCondition();" %>'></aui:input>
<div id='conditions'></div>
</form>
I want that when someone click the button add a new select, but I don't know how do a new . I tried do it with JavaScript with:
var conditions = document.getElementById('conditions');
conditions.innerHTML('<aui:select ...>...</aui:select>');
and
document.createElement('<aui:select>');
I tried too with AUI script doing:
var nodeObject = A.one('#divAtr');
nodeObject.html('<aui:input type="text" name="segment21" label="Segment" value="lalal" />');
But it doesn't work because is html and doesn't can make AUI, and if I make the new select with HTML normal, when I catch the values some are lost.
Thanks.
As #Baxtheman stated, this won't work because the tag is not a client-side HTML tag, but a server-side tag from the aui-taglib.
To dynamically load the contents of the select box you would want to follow these steps:
add an element in your JSP, but make it hidden
<aui:select id="conditions" style="display: none;"><aui:select>
From your javascript, when the event occurs that you want to use to load your second select box, you would select the dropdown box and add the options you wish to it with something like the answer from this post Adding options to select with javascript
Make sure you set the select box to be visible after loading the options.
document.getElementById('<portlet:namespace/>conditions').style.display = 'block';
For more clarity, the reason you're missing information on POST if you add a normal HTML select box, is because of the way the aui:form serializes the data. I believe the ends up with a custom onSubmit that gathers only the aui elements.
<aui:select> is a JSP taglib, not the final HTML markup.
If you understand this, you resolve.
I have a JSP page containing a ADD button to add the rows(a HTML code) via Javascript.
I now need to retain the value in my form by replacing the codes in JSP by struts-tags.
How should I then communicate from struts-tags and JS. Since all the HTML code lies in JS, how should it use struts-tags???
Please help!!
Your question is too vague to give an appropriate answer. However, I recently did something similar to this so I will try and give you a few guidelines.
1.) If you are hoping to populate these rows with information from the server this will require an ajax call. Most likely to an action that returns a snippet of jsp containing only a table row.
I suggest avoiding the struts2-jquery plugin for this unless you already are using it in your application. I would just use jQuery - http://api.jquery.com/jQuery.ajax/
2.) If you wish to gather user input in these rows you will just have to make sure to use appropriate naming for your fields.
Eg: In your java action you have a List< String > names.
You would need to generate the following html via js.
<tbody>
<tr>
<input type="text" name="names[0]">
</tr><tr>
<input type="text" name="names[1]">
</tr><tr>
<input type="text" name="names[2]">
</tr>
</tbody>
3.) If you wish to keep track of the number of added rows you could use this in your jsp...
<s:hidden name="rowsCount" id="rowsCount" value="0">
then within your javascript change the value of that input.
Hope one of those 3 helped!
