I've had this problem for over a month and client isn't paying me until it's fixed.
The website is: http://www.cardwells.co.nz
I'm using WordPress as the CMS with a template and some custom work.
The template comes with a slider background inbuilt which works in all browsers except IE.
I'm also using http://www.smoothdivscroll.com/clickableLogoParade.html for the scroller at the bottom.
Basically I have no clue WHY it's not working in IE - everything seems like it should be working. I've run the site through w3 checker and used that IE specific CSS files - but no dice.
Please help.
There was no real solution - really =\ I disabled, removed, reuploaded and reenabled the template. Either a file was a miss or a DB connection error somewhere along the line. So stupid.

UPDATE: I have updated this post more than 5 times but still couldn't
get appropriate answer , I'll appreciate if you could read my question
carefully and answer it <3
I want to create slideshow just like bwin's mobile version website. I started to analyse how it works. but it works weird, if you use inspect element in google chrome or any browsers you can see the slideshow works without any inline styles added dynamically.
in every slideshows that I've seen before there was inline styles that they added to HTML tags in a specific time interval. in this case I can't see any inline styles that add to tags but it works like a charm. I checked the CSS files for the keyframe property and there was nothing and of curse they don't use transition too.
for more information is good to say they use angular as their front-end framework.
Note: please open the mobile version of the website in computer to see what is going on !
The address is : https://sports.m.bwin.com/en/sports
I'll be appreciated if you tell how does the bwin's slideshow works? and how to create this slideshow?
thanks a lot <3
UPDATE: Special thanks to Sergiu Paraschiv that he figured out google
chrome's dev tools doesn't show inline changes for translateX property
of DOM Shadows , he tested the bwin's mobile version with his Safari
in his Mac machine and he captured screenshot "imgur.com/a/Php4EhB" ,
so you can see the inline changes in Safari browser of Mac OS . Why
google chrome or firefox doesn't show the changes of inline translateX
property of the DOM Shadows?
I am trying to integrate Isotope JS on Joomla 1.5 site. (I know it's old Joomla!)
https://www.buffalobrownies.com/?view=article&id=269
I got the code working fine on a test page on that domain (but outside of Joomla).
Inside Joomla, neither the JQuery nor vanilla JS seems to trigger.
With JQuery trigger code on, I get this error on Chrome Console:
Cannot read property 'isotope' of null
(With the vanilla JS script turned on I get a bunch of OTHER errors......)
So I'm guessing there is something wrong with the reference to $ but I'm not clued up enough to know what it is...
Any thoughts out there? Thanks for your help
(I have Jquery linked high up in the <head>, then Isotope JS link just after, then the isotope trigger JS before the bottom </body> tag)
Chris
So I discovered that it was Mootools in Joomla 1.5 that was causing the conflict.
(I just had to start taking lines of code out, one by one, until I found the one that made the difference).
I managed to find some code online that turned Mootools off for the front end, but kept it on for the back end.
Now I've managed to get the Isotope script working in my example. Now I just need to get it working with live data!
I created a mobile site in html and jquery, but it is not loading properly in Chrome (or on an iphone). There is no backend to the site - all changes to content would happen right through editing the html. Inside of my html, I made no specific reference to ajax. And, each page links through "#pageid. The problem is that as I navigate the site, various pages do not display correctly unless I hit "refresh." URL is mobile.shorelinelake.com. I am VERY new to this, so please be patient with a newbie :) Thanks for any help!
http://mobile.shorelinelake.com (if you click through to "Lake" and then "Sailing," or "Cafe" to "Menu," you can see the problem - the page jumps after loading, cuts off the header, places content below the footer, or will entirely hide jquery elements...)
One thing I noticed right away is that your using an old version of Jquery and Jquery Mobile. There have been alot of improvements since the alpha that you are using. Also you are linking to a few files that aren't there. Phonegap.js and ajax-loader.gif for some reason are not found. In my console I see 196 warnings that I believe are all related to you using old versions.
Also you have 31 html errors. One example is here
line 88:
<a href="tel:16509657474" div data-role="button" data-theme="c" class="ui-btn-text">
You have alot of stranded </p> tags. Most of them are in the menu page. Fixing these errors is necessary to troubleshoot your problem. Try running your document through an html5 validator to find these mistakes.
I also recommend breaking this into smaller pieces. Here is my reasoning:
Easier to maintain and edit.
Keep the dom size reasonable. Jquery will remove the old pages from the dom keeping it very manageable.
Faster page loading resulting in a better user experience. Your user will probably not be going to each page. Only load what they need to see.
Bandwidth could be costing your user extra money on a mobile device.
I am a super newb at developing web pages. Especially pages that are created dynamically from javascript.
I have a page that I have worked on that uses some templates from prototype, and widgets from dojo, as well as plain old javascript. This page looks and acts perfectly in firefox.
It is basically adding rows to a table, and adding widgets to the cells.
The widgets basically seem like they are in the wrong column/wrong place.
Where do I start looking to figure out what the incompatibilities are between firefox and IE?
There are lots of sites that will give you information about compatibility. I'd check google. Also, you can download IETester which will allow you to see how your site looks in most IE versions (5.5+).
Take a look at: http://www.quirksmode.org/
I am currently trying to make a template that displays well with FF do the same in IE.
So far, I am breaking it down div by div with corresponding JS function.
Then it is easier to look up the specifics of that particular piece you are trying to make compatible.
For example, I was implementing the enter key and noticed it worked well in FF and not IE. After I looked at that specific input box in html and gathered there were no problems with it, I dove into that specific JS function. Inside I found that the currentTarget wasn't "working". I did a quick search on current target in IE and got all the info I needed to get it to work.
Get yourself a good JS debugger as well, FireBug works with both browsers.
There just aren't good web standards in the web industry right now. Everyone is doing their own thing, it is like the house and bank market. These guys are trying though.
Iam working on a website and I dont have any clue why the tabs doesnt work when I upload the website. Because when I view the website normal it does work perfectly.
By the way: The tabs are working with a jquery script.
This is the website URL: http://bmvisuals.poshh.nl/
Greetings.
Edit: I mean some of the tabs doesnt appear.
Your About me tab does not show up because your server is case sensitive.
Aboutme.jpg != Aboutme.JPG
You should check out CSS Sprites. There is a flicker when you hover over a tab (the first time) because the browser has to load the hover image. With CSS Sprites an image map is used and all the images are loaded at once so the hover is seamless.
As an aside, your site does not scroll vertically. When my window is smaller than your site, the bottom gets cut off and there is no way for me to see it.
Firstly, nice site. Secondly your tabs are totally borked for me. I am using Linux Ubuntu and Firefox 3. Not sure about the fix though. Just thought I would mention it.
Using Firebug, I see some resources give a 404 error:
http://bmvisuals.poshh.nl/Scripts/Lightbox/images/lightbox-ico-loading.gif
http://bmvisuals.poshh.nl/Scripts/Images/PhotoGallery/PhotoGalleryContainerBackground.png
http://bmvisuals.poshh.nl/Images/Tabs/Aboutme.jpg
http://bmvisuals.poshh.nl/Images/Tabs/HomeActive.png
On a side note, the page doesn't work if javascript is disabled. I would suggest using the noscript tag to show a message saying javascript is required. The other option is to make the page work without javascript.
