jQuery action only once / custom URLs - javascript

I have a very basic jQuery script that slides a title from bottom to top after the page loads. The problem I'm having now is that I need to make this title to only slide if the user is on the 'main page'. If the user then clicks on any sub-pages I need the title to remain to the top of the page.
Example: wordpress website with a few pages on which I have galleries. When a user enters a page -> animate title. When the user is browsing the gallery -> static title.
This is the jQuery script:
jQuery(document).ready(function () {
jQuery(".animate").addClass("move");
});
You can see the website in question here.
// later edit: Thanks everyone for helping! I forgot to mention that I have multiple URLs, there are multiple pages. Is there a way I can get the "current URL" of the page and then append to it the extra bit which will always be the same i.e. /?pid=xx ?
Example: I need to animate the title on pages with this format:
mywebpage/custom_name/
Then, on pages with this format, I need to keep the title static:
mywebpage/custom_name/?pid=xx
Following the answers bellow I made this script:
if(window.location.href == 'http://www.noahd.net/demo-upwall/residential/rooftop-garden/'){
jQuery(document).ready(function () {
jQuery(".animate").addClass("move");
});
} else {
jQuery(document).ready(function () {
jQuery(".portfolio-title-wrap").removeClass("animate").addClass("top");
});
}
This script works only for the /residential/rooftop-garden/ page. Under residential I have another 10 pages. And then I have another 6 pages starting from root, like /commercial/ or /objects which also have 6-10 sub-pages.
How can I adapt the above script to work on those pages and sub-pages but not on the sub-sub-pages?

You can decide behavior of your page based on url.
code:
if(window.location.href== mainapplicationurl){
// slide code
}
else{
// put title on top
}
After edit of question. you can decide pages based of count of '/' in url( will work only if url format is consistent).
var count = window.location.href.split("/").length;
jQuery(document).ready(function () {
if( count < 7 ){
jQuery(".animate").addClass("move");
} else {
jQuery(".portfolio-title-wrap").removeClass("animate").addClass("top");
}
});

Wordpress labels pages with unique classes so you can target an specific page like this:
jQuery(document).ready(function () {
jQuery(".page-id-32 .animate").addClass("move");
});

You can do it different ways. For example you can load your slide title stuff only when you are on specific page using wordpress conditions.
Or you can do what you want from client-side. For example, your pages have different title tags, and main page has - Upwall Studio and you can check:
if ($('title').text() === 'Upwall Studio') {
//slide youre title here
}
Or you can check if user on a specific url via window.location.href:
if (window.location.href === 'http://www.noahd.net/demo-upwall/') {
//slide youre title here
}

Imitate click with jQuery to get filtered multigallery by URL

I have website, created with Elementor. Website belongs to photographer. He has got there an Elementor Multigallery, with filter at the top. I need to create external links, which can bring you to the subpage and directly show only filtered items.
Here's the link to multigal: https://chosephoto.com/photo/
I need to do something like that, when I enter the https://chosephoto.com/photo/#fashion I will received the current subpage, but it will shows only images from gallery "fashion". Not all images.
I thought about imitating jQuery click by query string (get the value of /#....) and then do the jquery click the with attribute, which equals the value in query string, However I even don't know, how can I do it with jQuery. I am jQuery beginner.
Thank you for a help.
So, finally, here's my "solution"
$ = jQuery;
$(window).bind('load', function() {
var hash = $(location).prop('hash').substr(1);
if(hash == 'portrait') {
$('a[data-gallery-index=0]').trigger('click');
} else if (hash == 'fashion') {
$('a[data-gallery-index=1]').trigger('click');
} else if (hash == 'product') {
$('a[data-gallery-index=2]').trigger('click');
} else if (hash == 'sky-photo') {
$('a[data-gallery-index=3]').trigger('click');
} else {
$('a[data-gallery-index=all]').trigger('click');
}
});
I had to use .bind('load'), instead of document.ready() function, because the gallery do the additional javascript after the document is ready (and it has overwritten my code).
You can call the filter with getting the URL, based on the hashtag at the end. For example this URL: https://chosephoto.com/photo/#fashion will filter the FASHION gallery.
My knowledges are not enough, to do it better way. But it works!

jQuery Hide/Show DIV on change of anchor text

I have one page website which changes URL #id or anchor text on scrolling and on navigation click. I have an image positioned fixed at the center of the site. The site is divided in different sections and the image shows in all the sections. I do not want to show the image on the first section as it is unrelated to the content of the 1st section but will be showed in all next sections. How can I make it work?
What I have tried till now but not working:
$(document).ready(function(){
$(".phone").hide();
var idSample = window.location.href.split("#");
var id = "#"+idSample[1];
if($(id) == "second"){
$(".phone").show();
}else{
$(".phone").hide();
}
});
Rest in Fiddle: https://jsfiddle.net/shubhamjha1000/vh7bu32q/
I don't want that phone to be seen on 1st section but on rest of the sections. Please help me guys!
You can use the answer written in this question to listen to changes in the window see what url you are on and show or hide the phone accordingly....
Example:
$(function(){
// Bind the event.
$(window).hashchange(hashchanged);
// Trigger the event (useful on page load).
hashchanged();
});
function hashchanged(){
var hash = location.hash.replace( /^#/, '' );
//your code
if(hash == "#first") {
// Hide element
} else {
// Show element
}
}
But still even though what you are planning to do will work with that solution I think it would still look bad on the app it self and instead of a hovering phone maybe you can create the phone as an img inside the relevant containers and hide and show with id...
You can simply use a substring on your location.hash for get your hash tag
$(document).ready(function(){
$(".phone").hide();
var id = window.location.hash.substr(1);
if($(id) == "second"){
$(".phone").show();
}else{
$(".phone").hide();
}
});

If user came from previous page on site then this, else do this

What would be a viable way to accomplish the following:
A website has two pages; Parent page and Inside page. If user came to the Inside page directly by typing in the address or by following a link from a page other than Parent page, then show "foo". If user came to the Inside page from the parent page, then show "bar".
I would need this done in JS if possible. If not, PHP is a secondary choice.
You can get the page the user came from with document.referrer.
So you could implement your solution like this:
if (document.referrer === 'yoursite.com/parentpage') {
// do bar
} else {
// do foo
}
Please try this
This code in second page
jQuery(window).load(function() {
if (sessionStorage.getItem('dontLoad') == null) {
//show bar
}
else{
//show foo
}
});
This code in parent page
jQuery(window).load(function() {
sessionStorage.setItem('dontLoad','true')
});
with php:
There is a simple way is to create a mediator page which redirect to inner page after make a session / cookie.. then if you'll get session / cookie, you show foo & unset session.
if someone directly come from url, no session / cookie found & it show bar..
You can use the document.referrer but this is not always set. You could add a parameter to the URL on the parent page and then check for its existance in the child page
Link on the parent page:
<a href='myChildPage.html?fromParent=1'>My Child Page</a>
JS code on your child page:
var fromParent=false;
var Qs = location.search.substring(1);
var pairs = Qs.split("&");
for(var i = 0; i < pairs.length; i++){
var pos = pairs[i].indexOf('=');
if(pos!==-1){
var paramName = pairs[i].substring(0,pos);
if(paramName==='fromParent'){
fromParent=true;
break;
}
}
}
if(fromParent){
alert("From Parent");
}else{
alert("NOT From Parent");
}
This method isnt 100% foolproof either as users could type in the same URL as your parent page link. For better accuracy check the document.referrer first and if not set use the method i've outlined above
intelligent rendering with jQuery
After using #Rino Raj answer, i noticed it needed improvement.
In javascript, the load() or onload() event is most times much slower,
since it waits for all content and images to load before executing your attached functions.
While an event attached to jQuery’s ready() event is executed as soon as the DOM is fully loaded, or all markup content, JavaScript and CSS, but not images.
Let me explain this basing, on code.
When i used #Rino Raj's code, with load() event, it works but on the second/called page, the content appears before class="hide fade" is added (which I don't really want).
Then i refactored the code, using the ready() event, and yes,
the content that i intended to hide/fade doesn't appear at all.
Follow the code, below, to grasp the concept.
<!-- Parent/caller page -->
<script type="text/javascript">
$(document).ready(function() {
sessionStorage.setItem('dontLoad', 'true');
});
</script>
<!-- Second/called page -->
<script type="text/javascript">
$(document).ready(function() {
if(sessionStorage.getItem('dontLoad') == null) {
$("#more--content").removeClass("hide fade");
} else {
$("#more--content").addClass("hide fade");
}
});
</script>

change url to reflect content on the page hidden / displayed with Javascript

I am currently making a website for an architecture firm, HLArchitects. In the projects page I have created an HTML / Javascript image gallery. slightly above the main big image to the right an option can be found to choose between images / information. I use Jquery to show and hide the information or the images, however i don't feel this is such a great way to do so. It can be viewed here for reference: http://www.hla.co.za/projects/Hyuandai_Training_Centre/
Here is the relevant Javascript:
$(".selector a").click(function(){
if ($(this).attr("data-show") == "images") {
$("#info").fadeOut("fast");
$("#displayImg").fadeIn("fast");
$("#imageFlow").fadeIn("fast");
} else if ($(this).attr("data-show") == "info") {
$("#displayImg").fadeOut("fast");
$("#imageFlow").fadeOut("fast");
$("#info").fadeIn("fast");
}
})
Relevant HTML:
<p class="selector">images | information</p>
My problem is that the url does not change to reflect the content, but I do not want to make a separate page. I could imagine i would need to make use of link anchor's but am not to sure how to do so.
Thank you in advance
You can change the hash of an url by using:
window.location.hash = 'images';
EDIT:
Firstly, in this context you don't need to include the hash symbol!
Secondly, I missed the obvious, you only need to change the HTML to this to update the URL correctly:
<p class="selector">
images
information
</p>
Then you can use the following in your jQuery, note I've included the attribute check inside the selector itself:
$(".selector a[href=#images]").click(function() {
$("#info").fadeOut("fast");
$("#displayImg").fadeIn("fast");
$("#imageFlow").fadeIn("fast");
});
$(".selector a[href=#info]").click(function() {
$("#displayImg").fadeOut("fast");
$("#imageFlow").fadeOut("fast");
$("#info").fadeIn("fast");
});
If you want to refresh the page and get the same content, you can check the hash tag by doing the following (you may need to edit this depending what elements are showing initially):
$(document).ready(function() {
if (window.location.hash == '#images') {
$("#info").hide();
$("#displayImg").show()
$("#imageFlow").show();
}
else if (window.location.hash == '#info') {
$("#displayImg").hide();
$("#imageFlow").hide();
$("#info").show();
}
});
If all you're doing is setting text in the URL, you can do this easily by setting location.hash
location.hash="#SomeTextHereThatMayOrMayNotNecessarilyBeAnAnchor"
^ Note that "#" is important

How to get Anchor Links to work in Jquery Mobile?

Jquery Mobile has decided to treat anchor links as page requests of sort. However, this isn't good if you have a load of blog posts which have anchor links to the same page (ie href="#specs").
Is there a way to disable jquery mobile's anchor link usage on a specific page which I know I won't be using it on so I can use anchor links as they were intended, to drop down to a part of the page?
I only need a solution for anchor links on the same page (ie: href="#specs").
thanks
You could try adding a data-ajax="false" on the anchor tag.
Linking without Ajax
Links that point to other domains or that have rel="external",
data-ajax="false" or target attributes will not be loaded with Ajax.
Instead, these links will cause a full page refresh with no animated
transition. Both attributes (rel="external" and data-ajax="false")
have the same effect, but a different semantic meaning: rel="external"
should be used when linking to another site or domain, while
data-ajax="false" is useful for simply opting a page within your
domain from being loaded via Ajax. Because of security restrictions,
the framework always opts links to external domains out of the Ajax
behavior.
Reference - http://jquerymobile.com/demos/1.0.1/docs/pages/page-links.html
If you are like me, converting an existing site and you don't want to go through every page right now. You can add one line of code to your header and all of your header and all of your existing internal anchor links will get the data-ajax="false" tag added.
Of course, this assumes you are including your own javascript file up in the header already. If you are not you would have to touch every page anyway. But I have a single javascript file that is included in every page already so I added this line...
$("a").each(function () { if(this.href.indexOf("#")>=0) $(this).attr("data-ajax",false); });
This goes in your $(document).ready() block. If you don't have that block yet, here is the entire block.
$(document).ready(function() {
$("a").each(function () { if(this.href.indexOf("#")>=0) $(this).attr("data-ajax",false); });
});
Hope this helps. It is the same solution user700284 offers but in an automated way.
You can add the following code to the end of your page:
<script type="text/javascript">
$('a.native-anchor').bind('click', function(ev) {
var target = $( $(this).attr('href') ).get(0).offsetTop;
$.mobile.silentScroll(target);
return false;
});
</script>
And add the class "native-anchor" to your anchor links.
It is not a total sollution, because the back button of your browser will move you to the previous page and not to the position of the link, but it is better than the links not working at all.
I found this sollution here: jQuery Mobile Anchor Linking
$(document).bind("mobileinit", function () {
$.mobile.ajaxEnabled = false;
});
First you have to place this code into a custom.js file
$(document).bind('mobileinit', function () {
$.mobile.loader.prototype.options.disabled = true;
$.mobile.ajaxEnabled = false;
$.mobile.linkBindingEnabled = false;
$.mobile.loadingMessage = false;
});
Then add this file into your webpage before the jquery mobile js is loaded. becuase 'mobilinit' event is triggered immediately
Thank you
this solution worked for me
<script>
$(document).ready(function() {
$("a").each(function() {
if (this.href.indexOf("index.php") >= 0) $(this).attr("data-ajax", false);
});
});
</script>
I replaced # with index.php which is my document root.
But, it doesn't work for form button i.e input type="submit"
// On page load on mobiles only, look for the specific a tag you want to take control over,
// alternatively you can still target all 'a' tags
$('a[href*="#component"]').each(function () {
// then set data-ajax to false,
$(this).attr("data-ajax", false);
// at this point you can add the class to your target a tags.
// You can do it elsewhere but because for this example my
// 'a' tags are automatically generated so I just add the class here
$(this).addClass('in-pagelink');
// then target the class and bind to a click event
$('a.in-pagelink').bind('click', function (ev) {
// here I redirect the page with window.location.assign
// as opposed to window.location.href. I find that it works better
window.location.assign(this.href);
// then I close my navigation menu
closeAll();
});
});
